Who needs heels on their wedding day? The plan was to switch into Chuck Taylors at the reception, but these bridal flats by @betseyjohnsonxoxo were so comfortable she partied in them all night long! #weddingshoes #bridalshoes #smartbride #comfybride #bridalfashion #milwaukeebride #eastsidebride #diywedding #betseyjohnsonbride #weddingdetails #charlesallisbride #artmuseumwedding #bridalflats #weddingday #urbanweddingphotography #milwaukeeweddingphotographer #wisconsinweddingphotographer #chicagoweddingphotographer #creativeweddingphotography #gettingready #bridegettingready #emullinsphoto (at Charles Allis Art Museum)

week in reading #10
I’m still working on Traister’s All the Single Ladies, and haven’t made much progress. This week was a strange one: I was out of it with a cold that came on Sunday and is only now leaving, we had a snow day on Tuesday and even though I was able to get work done from home, I still felt like I was playing catch-up all week. I haven’t had a lot of headspace to focus. (It’s all been phlegm and my to-do list.) I might have to switch back to fiction-- somehow I have an easier time with that when focus is an issue.
In other types of reading, you will probably not be surprised to hear I subscribe to a fairly ridiculous amount of newsletters. The advent of tinyletter has cluttered my inbox like woah. But it’s a good clutter! (This is also my refrain for the stacks of books I hoard despite my lack of space. At least my gmail has a ton of storage.)
I’ve been really enjoying the creativity/writing-focused newsletters I subscribe to lately, finding myself going back and rereading several multiple times. A few favorites:
Witty Title Here is Cassie Patton’s weekly note with links to read, upcoming writing deadlines and a featured writer. I can’t remember how I learned about this email, but the good news section at the end of each is definitely helping me get through this year.
The Check-In is Amy Spalding’s weekly email that’s like a cheery, gif-filled writing date with a friend. Amy talks about how her own work is going and brings in another writer to answer a Q&A about how their work is going and each missive leaves me energized and wanting to get to it.
Filmmaker Laramie Dennis (who used to write as eastsidebride from 2008-2014 and imho is the coolest person I have never met) sends The Laramie Report monthly. I keep the September 2016 edition starred in my inbox (unfortunately her archives aren’t public, but let me know if you want me to forward it to you). In it she discussed Jenga as a metaphor for creative work and left me in tears. Plus, she usually also talks about the best tacos she’s had in the past month. Mmmm, tacos.
And playwright and badass @daniellemohlman recently started her own newsletter about her creative process: Word Processing. She’s only sent a few so far, so now’s a perfect time to subscribe for her really great writing about her process working on a new play, and the other media she consumes while she’s at it.

East side bride does it better
Tumblr media
Fun fact?  Wedding blogs can be nauseating.  If you aren't the kind of girl who swoons at the site of a pale pink polka dot, embarking on a wedding web blog search can be very alienating.
Enter the East Side Bride (ESB), the blog for any non conformist woman who likes a little laugh and a look at high fashion.  The East Side Bride is such a fantastic example of a blog because:
It is an interactive space where people write in asking for advice & the ESB and any other bloggers can comment and advise.
It has an array of quirky photo inspiration for anyone that values originality in fashion and event planning.
ESB delves into travel advice: discussing different parts of the world with fellow bloggers and divulging privy information for particular hotspots and venues.
Its funny.  It doesn't take itself too seriously yet it has the ability to transcend a purely image based blog because the real stories shared and advice offered creates a sense of community among users.
The design of the blog is simple with new posts appearing daily and a left side bar of curiously names archives ensures a mix bagged of information for a viewer to scroll through and peruse.
The East Side Bride is such a wonderful blog because amongst an array of wedding ideas and inspiration, the core of the site remains steeped in camaraderie.  Woman sharing ideas, stories, heartaches and happiness all in a quirky world void of fake sentimentality or romantic notions.
The blog is saturated in originality, it's author delivers each post with dry wit, no bull and keen eye.

East Side Brunch | ESB & Me
I had the great privilege of meeting with Laramie of East Side Bride over brunch during my recent trip to LA.  Showed her some of our newest & finest including the Tiny Crescent bands and the Chasse Cuff.
ESB's friend Michelle Pullman of Rad + In Love shot these gorgeous photos of the love fest, which went up as a profile on the Blog, and we are delighted to share them with you.
