raymond had been in this line of work      for two thirds of his life, but it could never change the fact that he had once been just a poor kid from dayton. and it was perhaps because of it, that he had raised through the ranks as fast as he had, and come to lead his own team. because he knew not to waste a single second. he knew how to get results, and to get them quick. he was hardworking, because hard work had meant getting to live another day. but in this line of work, that also meant disregarding other people’s feelings from time to time, and sure enough, raymond could be a bit of a cold, unsympathetic asshole to put it lightly. he’d been critiqued on it often by those underneath him, for being too harsh, for not being understanding enough, so it’s not anything new to him. but he does hate to hear it. perhaps because, deep, deep down, underneath several locked doors, he knew he had become the thing he hated. which is why he’s so quick to dismiss the critique, or go on the defensive whenever it’s brought up, not wanting to face the fact.
