It's hard to make out through the trees, but in the distance is the embankment used by the California branch of the Avon & Gloucestershire Railway crossed Siston Brook. At this point the branch line was a 1:10 self-acting incline. The branch was only used for about 15 years at the end of the 19th century; when it opened the A&GR had been derelict and abandoned for several decades. #outdoors #woodland #railway #earlyrailways #willsbridge #oldlandcommon #bristol #england https://www.instagram.com/p/CAk1iognDcY/?igshid=cx668y75av5q

Possibly an 1830-era stone sleeper block from the Avon & Gloucestershire Railway, close to their Willsbridge Tunnel. #outdoors #railway #earlyrailways #wagonway #tramroad #dramway #england #bristol #willsbridge https://www.instagram.com/p/CAk0o7Xn4h6/?igshid=1fndp11ars293
