a thing about me is that i do do homework before planned interactions and about half the time it's looking up the etymology of words that i think may be relevant to the activity. i had to start doing this because i have been in too many situations where i know vaguely that there is something etymologically interesting that i could be sharing with the class but i learned it a long time ago and don't really remember, and obviously i don't want to be dropping etymological misinformation into the conversation, so i have to plan for it ahead of time to make sure to refresh my memory in advance. unfortunately i also frequently mean to do this and then forget. life as a social being is full of little pitfalls such as these.
