Mousetro and Clockwork!!! Melody and Cedar are some of my faves so working on these guys was extremely fun. Mousetro I was going to fit smth with Melody’s punk without just filling him entirely with music notes but also his original design being a generic mouse was extremely boring. clockwork I really wanted to get the vibe of just that’s really a wooden creature. who like his owner isn’t entirely fitting in. Plus the cuckoo clock bird house was a really fun idea I really enjoyed. Both of them love stylizing their pets pattern Melody dyes Mousetro all the time and Cedar can be found painting clockwork every once in a while.

Forward but Never Forget/XOXO

Snippet:

"You still haven't told me," Ekko says, and there's a hoarse hitch in his throat, "what you want."

"Want for what?"

"Your Name Day."

Jinx smiles.

Lifting one pale hand, she strokes a pattern into the bare curve of his shoulder. Zephyr leaves, looping in invisible spirals. He doesn't flinch; but he's close enough that she can see the flecks of deep-amber in his eyes darken to burnt coffee. His skin holds the same aroma: something clean, yet enticingly sharp.

It's a scent that's always clung to him, for as far as she can stretch memory's fingers. And for as long as she remembers, it's always stirred a peculiar sensation in her belly.

Something that leaves her both hungry all over and yet deeply satisfied at once.

Jinx breathes in, and holds it.

"I mean," Ekko goes on, his palm callused and warm on her kneecap. "We missed a lot of years. What're you supposed to get somebody who shoots at you half the time?"

"I'm not shooting at you now."

Though she could, if she wanted. PuffPuff is nestled between their bodies, snug inside her thigh-holster. For the moment, though, the danger's dormant. The gun may as well be a trusting little piggy tucked safely under a blanket.

There's no gap for a bullet to break on. And though both she and Ekko are fully-clothed, the moment's too bare for concealment.

This is Neutral Territory; these are naked feelings.

Neither is completely safe.

"There's lots of things I want," Jinx says, as her fingers itsy-bitsy spider up the curve of his bicep. "Problem is, most of 'em don't belong to me."

"And that's ever stopped you?"

"Nope."

She tips her chin; not quite meeting his querying gaze. Eye contact's a kind of trap; she hates being cornered.

But cornered she is; by the gentle pressure of his hand against her leg; by the cramped intimacy of the motorcar; by the drain of mutual antagonism they've been circling for months now.

No more blitzkriegs of bullets; no high-octane smackdowns. This is no longer a game. They've played too hard for the rules to be fair anymore.

Here, under the glow of a moon just shy of ripe, it's a dance. And in the stillness, they're in-sync: step for step, breath for breath, beat for beat.

Close as only a pair of clockwork hearts can be.

 "Look," Ekko says, because Mister Clever-Clogs has got to talk his way through whatever is incognito, even if that means blowing his own cover. "I didn't invite you here expecting anything. I don't. Not really. I just wanted..."

Jinx quirks a brow. "To talk to me?"

"Ye-eah." His voice cracks a tiny bit; a smile breaks the taut line of his jaw. "Guess so."

"So: talk."

"I—"

She scoots closer, tucking herself easily against him. Her blue head nestles on his breastbone. His chest's a hard curve; his heartbeat a tripwire cadence. She feels the tightly-coiled strength hidden in the lean armature of muscle. He's packed on pounds and inches since they'd last squared off on the Bridge. In place of puppy fat, there are accented angles: a firmer cut to the arms, a squared-off jaw, a broader shoulderspan.

She's reminded, viscerally, that the boy she'd spent a childhood chasing through backalleys—first as friends, then as foes—is almost full-grown.

His maturity should disquiet her; send her fleeing back to Silco's embrace. She was taught to give grown men wide berth growing up—her Daddy, for all his foibles, believed the best target's kept between the crosshairs. And Zaun's streets teemed with big, dumb bullies whose cojones outweighed common sense.

It took a fistful of firepower and a gutful of bloodlust to send 'em packing.

Jinx always carried both in excess.

Then she'd met Viktor—her wise, wasting Vitya. So pretty, with his fragile, haunted features and his aura of deathly calm, honed by decades of suffering. Like called to like; magic tangled where bodies dared not tread. She'd spent a summer breathing in his arid affections: sideways smiles traded over late-night hypotheses; cultured intonations lulling her racing mind into stillness; long-fingered hands, unhurried and precise, adjusting her measurements to bridge the gap where blind inspiration faltered.

He was safe. Safer still with his daredevil dreams of an unblemished sky, and a city reborn from scratch. With such high-swooping hopes, what did the secret stirrings of an eighteen-year-old girl matter?

Then they'd traversed to the Void, and matter ceased to hold meaning.

That day—in that rippling elsewhere of silvered sands and starfall and supernovas—she'd threaded the seams of herself to Viktor's. She'd left girlish fantasies at the wayside; she'd yielded her spirit to his, an apotheosis without parallel, surrender made sublime.

She became the magic. He became the mirror.

It was a fusion beyond mortal ken.

Except...

Except something was missing.

In the mortal plane, Viktor's soul-threads remain stitched tight to hers. The austere adulation that slips—ghostly and gilded—into her senses holds no equal, not on earth. They'd made a heaven of nothingness in the liminal. Naturally, her true self belonged there; in another realm entirely, removed from mere flesh.

Yet here, in the flesh, Jinx is alive.

Alive, and burning to be touched.

What would Viktor think, watching her nuzzle the curve of Ekko's throat? Knowing she's pledged to him in the aether—yet her heart beats hardest here? With a kid-king who rules the roost over a bunch of nobodies, but nourishes her deep-set hurts as if they're his own. Who has loved her at her weakest and loathed her at her wildest, but can't resist her when she's balanced on the fragile equilibrium between both extremes?

Viktor, Jinx thinks, would forgive her.

Viktor forgives everything. He's transcended limitation, become untouchable.

Whereas Ekko is touchable. And when he touches her, she feels it in every fiber of herself: messily, ecstatically, irrevocably.

What's it mean, Jinx wonders, as Ekko's lips butterfly her temple, that one man has her soul at knifepoint, but another one's holding her heart hostage? What's it say that she and Viktor fit together just right, but she and Ekko were built from perfectly mismatched puzzle pieces? What does it matter if she needs them both, but in ways so opposite they might as well be a different language?

How does she make the ends meet?

Especially when her life—her death—still hangs on Silco's strings? And her past—her future—still hinges on Vi's?

Her whole being seems composed of pieces that don't align. Broken fragments orbiting the very inverse of centrifugal force.

(One day, she'll write a book about it. An epic adventure of slapstick comedy, gunpowder tragedy, and interdimensional travel. All revolving around a revolution, because revolution's just love by another name.)

soo i’m working in a 15 episode comic-reels on instagram (i’ll post them here too!) with a new episode every friday, except for today because i underestimated the amount of work 😆 but it is coming tomorrow!

it is called:

EAH- Year 1: The Freedom Year

it narrates raven’s first year at ever after high and the start of her rebellion 😁 (i also changed the 4 years to 6, i just wanted them to stay at the school longer)

i have a prologue on insta, it is the letter raven receives from the school reminding her of her required attendance. 🫡

8 riptide fics i want to write so bad but haven't by now so probably never will (it pains me to admit i won't write them). some have titles and full on plans, others don't. anyone can use these cause i definitely won't get the chance

1 - haunted by ill angels aka a riptide oneshot based on that hallucinogenic poison scene from s&b s2

They’re going through a dungeon thingie and go down two separate hallways. Jay ends up in a room with a window to Chip & Gill’s, with coloured glass vials of unknown liquids. Chip and Gill end up in an empty room, except for a conspicuous vent on the wall. Suddenly the doors to both lock and an orange gas sprays into Chip & Gill’s room, causing them to start choking and fall unconscious. A voice echoes through Jay’s room telling her that only one of the vials is the antidote. Chip & Gill end up having hallucinations while Jay tries to solve the riddle thing.

2 - because i'm the good guy aka gillion villain arc

 Instead of choosing between the sea and land, he plans to pick both, condemning them both to destruction. Nothing Chip and Jay can do will convince him to change his mind. So they have to take another approach to stopping him.

3 - backstory switch

Albatrio become separated and experience each other's backstories (like that one episode of EAH)

Jay - Gillion's

Chip - Jay's

Gillion - Chip's (because I want to see my boy have a functional family then it be snatched from him)

They wake up without their own memories, but feeling as if something is wrong. They relive the worst parts of each other’s backstories (Gill’s banishment, Jay’s sister’s death, the Black Rose sinking) over and over until they start to remember what happened (they were cursed in the BLOCK when going to rescue Lizzie). They have to use the power of friendship to escape! No but seriously, they have to break the illusion by proving that they don’t belong there.

4 - Gill's nightmares get so bad he doesn't wake up. Cue Chip and Jay going into his head to try and bring him back.

The dream pretends Gill was never chosen as the champion and he lived a normal life. He moved up to the Oversea with Edyn. (Essentially that bit in OUAT when Emma goes princess mode and isn't herself at all)

5 - i fell for you like clockwork (repeatedly, easily, just as i'd planned) aka a birdbolt timeloop fic

Teleport machine malfunctions. Leads to timeloop >:D in which they have to keep fighting the house & ensa and jay are the only ones aware of the timeloop happening. They keep their memories and become closer, till they manage to fix the machine properly, end the timeloop and confuse everyone by suddenly being in a relationship

6 - let the birds sing (dilly dilly) aka jay has dream inception about her sister still being alive

Jay wakes from a nightmare. Ava is there to help her. Jay ends up realising this is a dream and wakes again, feeling alone and missing her sister.

7 - pistolwhip romeo and juliet

i literally had no plan for this one except a cast list, so here you go i guess?

8 - another birdbolt oneshot

After 97, Chip & Jay brought Gill to Chip’s room to rest (not sleep, just rest) and Jay leaves for a breather. She goes to the kitchen to try and find something to temporarily help with Gill’s wounds and ends up bumping into Ensa. Cue awkward gay moments where Jay realises she totally has a crush. But then she leaves, v sad.

Aleis has always been a night-owl. They fare best when they rise late in the morning and work until the wee hours. Lua is quite the opposite, despite their protestations otherwise. While they can be energized in the right situations working late or at an event, on a regular day, they wake early and head to bed not very long after it’s dark. Asra calls them ‘grandpa-kin’ at times to tweak their nose.

It’s a relatively quiet night, Aleis and Lua have the house to themselves, peacefully working on their own projects. Or relatively peacefully - there have been an increasing string of irritated huffs and quiet swearing from Lua’s desk as the hour gets later and later. Aleis doesn't pay them much mind, Lua doesn't make these noises to communicate – it’s just the nature of making things at times.

But as those noises start getting interspersed with yawns, Aleis offers a quiet “Bedtime, Lu?”

“Mmh, no.” They say, waving it off.

Aleis shrugs and lets it pass for now.

Another hour later and Lua is hunched close to their work, the swearing almost like breathing at this point. Aleis inquires again and gets a much more curt “No.”

“You sure?”

“I’m going to finish this.”

“You’re getting exhausted, Lu. I think you should go to bed.”

Lua, frazzled, glares wild-eyed.

“You DEFINITELY should go to bed.” Says Aleis, tone getting much less kind.

Lua sags a little, irritation shifting to a more pleading look. ��Just… just a bit longer. It’s close.”

“I mean I won’t make you, but I do think you’re past the point of good decision making.”

Lua huffs but doesn't move from their desk, returning to the intricate clockwork in front of them. “Just… when I hit a good stopping point… please.”

“You don’t need my permission but alright.” Aleis is already braced for the inevitable meltdown from their partner. It’s just a question of when now.

Lua fares well a little longer, but when they go to get up to get a glass of water from the kitchen (following some sort of a small snap of something metal breaking and a particularly pointed hiss of frustration), they stumble out of their chair. In a minute there’s a small crash from the kitchen and a wailed “FUCK.”

“Are you ok?”

There is a sniffle around the edge of Lua’s voice, and the thumping of frustrated cleaning “I’m FINE.”

“Did you break a mug?”

“I’m so fucking clumsy!” They yell, tinged with the start of tears.

“You’re exhausted, Lua. Stop fighting it. You need sleep.”

There’s a second small crash – Lua throwing something hard as they clean. “It was the green one I liked too.” There’s genuine distress in their voice. It’s too late, and everything is far too much.

Aleis recognizes the tone – this is less of meltdown and more of a breakdown. “Lua, love, it’s fine. You’re fine. Let’s go to bed.”

Lua, finally, gives in, voice a bit broken from frustration tears “Let me clean this up first.”

“Of course Lu, you know we can magic it back together, yeah?”

“Yeah. But I’m not any good at that spell.”

“It’s fine, just leave it for morning. Asra or I can help.”

There’s no response from the kitchen.

“Lua?”

“Y...eah. Yes. Ok.”

Aleis gets up from their desk, joining Lua in the kitchen, hugging them from behind. They’re hunched over the sink, trying to calm down. They know they “shouldn't” get upset over such little things, but it’s harder when they’re tired. So much harder.

“Aw, it’s a clean break and only a couple pieces, it’ll fix ok.” Says Aleis, seeing the little pile of broken pieces next to the sink.

Lua nods, still hanging in frustration and increasing embarrassment.

Aleis kisses them on the cheek. “You’re so fucking stubborn.”

They do chuckle “Sorry, Aleis. I’m sorry.”

“Don’t. It’s ok. Just for fucks sake go to bed.”

“I’m going, I’m going, let me get some water first.”

Aleis, reaching around them, turns on the tap, and gently levitates some water for them. For a storm mage, manipulation of water is easy, for Lua, despite their love of water, remembering to solve problems with magic never seems to come first. But they do accept this, drinking what’s offered before turning around to peck Aleis on the lips. “Bed, then.”

Rating the pets of EAH based on what is on the EAH wiki and my limited knowledge:

Adelita - Rosabella's butterfly. I have never heard of this. Also apparently Adelita translates to 'noble'?? 3/10 I don't think it suits her and also how do you keep a butterfly as a pet.

Barber - Poppy's squirrel monkey. I guess squirrel monkeys are cute and I can see it as a pet for her but I have yet again no memory of this. 5/10

Clipper - Holly's lion cub. Apparently it is 'charmed' to stay a cub forever?? Don't know how that work or why she has a lion or why she would name it Clipper?? there are better names girl. 3/10

Carmine - Cerise's dire wolf. Okay so technically they're part of the same pack or something but it's the daughter of Littler Red Riding Hood and the big Bad Wolf. You can't go wrong with giving her a wolf friend whose name is another shade of red. 6/10

Carrolloo - Kitty's caterpillar. A sneaky little guy. From what we saw of him he compliments Kitty's personality and you know, a caterpillar with a wonderlandian? It's not like I can be mad. 6/10

Clockwork - Cedar's wooded cuckoo. Okay I do actually like this a lot. Even if we never really saw him it's a great concept for her pet to be wooden like her. Especially when you consider it would probably have to been made specifically for her. I love it 8/10

Clydesdale - Farrah's pet mouse. Don't recall and there are better mice. 2/10

Divacorn - Briar's unicorn. Absolutely slayed so hard I don't care about the name which is an astonishing feat. I mean of course Briar would have a pink unicorn it just makes sense. 8/10

Drake - Hopper's dragonfly. Drake. 2/10 Only getting extra points because it is a literal DRAGONfly. He breathes fire.

Earl Grey - Maddie's dormouse. Perfection. Best dressed of all of the pets. Is a silly little guy with a silly little hat that lives in her hat. Impeccable. 10/10

Gala - Apple's snow fox. Gala is a great name just because of the fact this it is not only a type of apple but also a fancy party. Very royal, on brand, like to curl around her neck. Iconic. 8/10

Grizz - Blondie's baby bear. Blondie. Girlie. You are a reporter. Please get original. A bear for goldilocks' daughter is fine but it's just like. I'm bored girl. You can do better. 3/10

Jelly - Ginger's gummy fish. I. Love this. A sentient gummy fish she accidentally made? So iconic I'll ignore the basic name. It's like naming your goldfish 'Goldie'. Anyway, I love the concept, love the execution. 8/10

King Benedict - Humphrey's chicken. No. 2/10 for egg related name.

Mr. Cottonhorn - Dexter's jackalope. Guys. Guys. look at him.

He's just a little guy. 10/10.

Moustro - Melody's rat. I like the idea and the pun name but I feel like I'd need to see a picture to be impressed. 5/10

Nevermore - Raven's dragon. There is no need for discussion. 10/10

P-Hawk - Daring's peacock. I think I remember him being kind of terrible so uh 1/10 because Daring I don't think that's how you say peacock honey.

Pesky - Hunter's squirrel. I love how even though they're like enemies they have the same haircut and Pesky has a little acorn bag that Hunter definitely made for him. Lives up to his name. 7/10

Philia - Cupid's Pegasus. Apparently 'Philia' is one of the ancient greek words for love that is often translated to friendship. soooo, even though I didn't know about her she gets a 6/10 because I think that's sweet.

Pirouette - Duchess's swan. Queen. Icon. Slay. Need I say more? 10/10

Sandella - Ashlynn's phoenix. The fact that Ashlynn has a phoenix because it rises from the ashes is so hardcore and I love it. Even if her name is Sandella. 7/10

Shuffle - Lizzie's hedgehog. The bestest and cutest little croquet ball. I don't have much to say but love you dearly. 7/10

Sir Gallopad - Darling's horse. He can change colour and camouflage which is THE coolest thing. Horsegirl Darling. 8/10 Also Daring officially has the worst pet out of the Charming siblings.

Spindle - Faybelle's pomeranian. Of course an evil fairy you have such an unassuming evil little dog. And of course she named it after her evil destiny. Iconic. 8/10.

Im loving the freedom though

Thinking something of a mix of this wood bird that looks like the cuckoo bird, cuckoo clock birds and dipping bird toys for clockwork(Cedar’s wooden cuckoo bird). An alternative real bird design of the actual cuckoo bird. Very colorful I’d like to think Cedar paints them

Mousetro(Melody’s mouse) I’m thinking some abstract musical fur pattern, and some big ol ears so that fella can feel the music fr. Because his design is generic mouse and that simply will not do

Shuffle im surprised had any art on the wiki but I’m probably gonna shuffle up this design a lot when I actually get to it.(I’m funny Ty Ty I’m here forever) Try to do the lil spike ball Justice

Ninas cat Rascal is simple but like in a good way he’s chilling just might spruce up give that fur a bit of whimsy and a nice bell maybe a vest and/or backpack for when Nina’s small

Thinking of giving Gala like not gradient but just like dust some red on her this will make sense in due time trust. Lil neck ribbon of sorts with a like pendant(?) whatever in the middle instead of the Apple crown(?)
