To all those people who say that they wouldn't be scared of dinosaurs if they had feathers, have you ever seen a bird of prey? Like a properly big bird of prey? Allow me to introduce you to a Steller's sea eagle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And just in case you're still not terrified, this thing has a wingspan of 2 METRES. Let me put that in perspective for you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is RIDICULOUS. And that's not even close to the size of the dinosaur. I hope I've made my point thank you for coming to my tedtalk

Concerns Grow Over Eagle Eggs in Big Bear
[March 7, 2024, Big Bear, CA] The bald eagle couple, Jackie and Shadow, have been caring for their eggs, which generally have a 35-day incubation period, since they were laid in late January.
“For the first egg we’re just past 38 days …so that first egg is probably not viable,” eagle expert Sandy Steers said, "but the other two eggs are still within the window of possibility." They could hatch any time over the next several days.
Check in with Jackie, Shadow and their growing family anytime, on the live Big Bear camera.

Space: 1999 Stars Barbara Bain & Nick Tate Goes Board Documentary About Sci-Fi Show’s Legendary Spacecraft
Actress Barbara Bain, star of the British sci-fi series Space: 1999, is preparing to board an upcoming documentary about the Eagle, the famed spacecraft at the heart of the show that ran from 1975-1977.
Bain will appear in The Eagle Has Landed as will Nick Tate, her cast mate from Space: 1999. The documentary includes the participation of several other notable figures: Apollo XVI astronaut Charles Duke Jr., Academy Award-winning visual effects artist Bill George (Blade Runner, Star Trek), and Brian Johnson, the VFX artist on Space: 1999 whose work is said to have influenced Star Wars. The film is being directed and produced by Jeffrey Morris, who also hosts the documentary.
Tumblr media
The Eagle Has Landed “explores the cross-generational impact of the iconic vessel” in the series that also starred Martin Landau. According to a press release, the film “showcases never-before-seen archival footage” and will be released in time for the 50th anniversary of Space: 1999’s debut, in 2025.
“Space: 1999 appeared on TV a few short years after the world watched Neil Armstrong take the first steps on the moon,” Morris noted in a statement. “The show’s unforgettable Eagle inspired a generation to envision a future in space and is still doing so decades later. The question we explore is ‘why?’ What is it about this imaginary craft that has captured and held imaginations for nearly 50 years?
Tumblr media
Morris’s FutureDude Entertainment is producing the documentary in partnership with Zero Point Zero Production Inc. Anne Marie Gillen is a producer on the project, along with Morris. The film is written by Morris and Fredrick Haugen. Morris is represented by Espada Entertainment.
Space: 1999 ran for a total of 48 episodes, with Bain and Landau in all of them as, respectively, Dr. Helena Russell and Commander John Koenig (the actors were married to each other at the time; they had previously co-starred together in Mission: Impossible).
Tumblr media
The show revolved around the denizens of Moonbase Alpha, scientific researchers living on the moon whose existence was threatened by a nuclear explosion, which rocketed the moon out of Earth’s orbit. Tate, an Australian-born actor, played pilot Alan Carter on 42 of the show’s 48 episodes. Originally, his character was to be killed off in the premiere episode, a casualty of the nuclear explosion, but producers Gerry Anderson and Sylvia Anderson liked his work and expanded his role.
Tumblr media
“Hovering above the Moon in one of Alpha’s Eagle spacecraft, Alan Carter is an observer to this holocaust, watching helplessly as the Moon spins out into space,” according to a synopsis published by the Catacombs.Space1999.net website. “Sacrificing his only chance to return home, Carter decides to give chase to the runaway Moon, joining his friends on the endless intergalactic journey.”
Tate told the website, “I didn’t have to dig too deeply with this character. Alan Carter was all the things I was as a young man: friendly, happy-go-lucky, someone who loved adventure and accepted a challenge.”
Ian McShane, Joan Collins, and Leo McKern were among actors who appeared in single episodes of Space: 1999.

So they can edit their 2013 footage to look presentable and it'd look like it was filmed recently but their 2023 footage looks like it's filmed on a potato, make this make sense 😭
it could just be that their camera equipment has varied a lot over the last ten years and they could have started out using nice dslrs or more professional documentary cameras in the earlier days before downgrading to the smaller hand-held camcorders we’ve seen them using in the last few years. they obviously use different types of cameras depending on what they’re shooting and what it’s intended for (i.e. youtube, theatrical releases, doc series, weverse, etc.) and yes, while i agree most of their youtube footage is shit quality, that hasn’t been the case for the disney+ stuff so far and i have to assume these streaming services have requirements (like netflix does) of how high their footage quality needs to be in order for them to release their project in the first place. so it’s a good thing to remember the context of what the footage is for and where/how it’s intended to be seen or what the initial plan for it was. if they started documenting their career that early (with the intent to one day release a film if the group lasted ten years) it’s not much of a stretch to think they planned ahead and chose their equipment wisely at the time, even without knowing how the footage would be used in the future. it’s more common than you think with band documentaries and quite impressive actually

Midnight Jack: The Movie
"I can try to explain why I liked this film – I have tried to explain why I like a lot of films over the years – but the longer I do it for, the more pompous and conflated I end up sounding. Sometimes I need to just shut my mouth now and enjoy the ride."
Director: Gregory Page Writer: Jack Tempchin Cast: Jack Tempchin Running time: 1hr 16mins Jack Tempchin, also known as Midnight Jack, is a successful song-writer based in California. His emergent career saw him pen multiple songs for The Eagles in the 1970s, including Peaceful Easy Feeling. He also wrote solo-hits for Glenn Frey and Johnny Rivers, and collaborated with Tom Waits on an early…
