              the  thing  about  ted  lasso   is    :       he's  as  stubborn  as  a  dog  with  a  bone  when  he  sniffs  something's  off.        he's  a  worrier,    always  has  been.   and  that's  the  precise  reason  why  beard  tends  to  not  let  ted  in  on  whatever's  going  on  with  him.     he  can't  worry  if  he  doesn't  know  something's  wrong.      and  that's  not  ted's  fault,   never  has  been.    it's  just  not  the  type  of  information  beard  easily  offers  up.    how  are  you?   he's  alright.    what's  wrong?   nothing.       it's  a  cycle  he's  put  into  motion  since  he  was  younger,   and  he  doesn't  quite  see  the  end  in  sight  now.   most  people  leave  it  alone  the  first  couple  dismissals,    but  beard  should've  known  better  that  ted  wouldn't  be  one  of  those  people.     not  when  they're  fresh  into  dating,    still  trying  to  figure  out  where  they  stand  in  a  brand  new  romantic  dynamic.      beard  isn't  an  idiot.     he  knows  ted  wants  him  to  be  honest,   to  confide  in  him   ----   that's  just  not  something  beard  wants.    it's  really  nothing  personal,     it's  just  who  he  is.         ❝      nothing,   coach.   really.   i'm  fine.      ❞        now,   that's  not  the  truth,    but  it's  not  ted's  job  to  fix  every  single  thing  wrong  in  beard's  life.    makes  it  easier  to  just  act  like  everything's  okay.
