"They truly are the yin to each other’s yang, and she really, really admires Callie’s opinion on things, and Callie is always there for her in ways that she needs."
“I think this season, you have seen Mariana really kind of be compartmentalized from what exactly happened to her"
“She’s keeping herself busy with the idea of being needed by people. She wants Evan to need her and to help at Speckulate. She wants Joaquin to need her help with looking for Madison, and she’s not really listening to her own feelings. She’s kind of been pushing them down for a while.”

Whenever Callie gives Mariana advice, she is, for the most part, expecting that she won’t take it, but she gives her the advice nonetheless

mariana is lonely after callie left. it isn’t always present, but it will hit her in waves. primarily at night when she can no longer distract herself from it. she still wakes up sometimes turning over to tell callie something. she still struggles not being able to run things by callie or share her life with callie to the same degree that she could when they lived together.

mariana, at her core, wants to help. she wants to help and fix and do. she crosses line after line and boundary after boundary because she wants to do good by the people she loves. she’s an actor and often doesn’t think through the consequences. she inserts herself and overworks and throws herself into everything. she does without asking and hopes for the best.
her and callie were meant to be sisters because replace everything i just said with callie and it all applies.

callie does not feel comfortable singing and dancing in public. this is something that is usually reserved for family or if she feels very comfortable with the person. sometimes callie can dance at school functions, but usually only with a family member or a significant other. overall, callie prefers to sit on the sidelines and remain out of the limelight. she is not a performer. it’s something that brings comfort.
this is in contrast with Mariana, who thrives off the attention. Part of this is rooted in her own insecurities, and why she tries so hard with the dance team, but overall she just likes having fun! and to her, dancing and singing and putting on a show is fun! she loves the attention and the limelight but that’s because she loves the way it makes her feel. she likes being good at something and bringing entertainment.
callie also feels most comfortable with mariana in these moments because it’s easier to let loose with mariana, who clearly just wants to have fun and brings that side out of callie !! but this again is preferred if it’s just the two of them.
