everyone could see what circe and george couldn’t for years. they could see the way they settled the instant the other was around, the way george would almost break his neck to locate her the second he heard her laugh, the way circe’s eyes lit up seeing george across a room. he looked at her when she wasn’t looking at him and her hand always sought his, seemingly without a thought and he took it just as thoughtlessly. 

it was love. as simple and complicated as that.

i am ...... losing my mind over george teaching himself how to care for slytherin!circe/adhara after all the abuse she endured messed her up. like 🥺🥺🥺 they. have some headcanons for adhara x george: 

✘. george learns very quickly that adhara is not like angelina johnson or katie bell. they’re quidditch girls and he can knock them around a bit and they can take it and give it back. adha is particularly quiet and kind of anxious all the time. she jumps a lot and is always looking over her shoulder even after she settles into the burrow. he apparates near her once and almost sent her into a full-on panic attack. he makes sure to never do it again. he also makes an effort to announce himself around her as to not sneak up on her.  ✘. it takes him a while but he eventually realises that her clothes are very well-kept second hand clothes. where his family has hand-me-downs because they can’t really afford to pay for all new clothes every year, adha has second-hand clothes because the malfoys don’t care about her as much as they care about their image and if she ruins the clothes, they’ll punish her. it puts a new twist on why she was so upset about a messy prank the twins had pulled on her.  ✘. adha confesses to him about all the abuse she’d been put through living with the malfoys. not only by lucius but by bellatrix too. that bellatrix had used the cruciatus curse on her more than once. he immediately goes to tell fred because if he’s going to make a plan to help her, he needs his brother’s help.  ✘. she leaves the yule ball early because pansy was teasing her about her scars, specifically how she hid the ones on her wrists under her long sleeves but not her werewolf bite scar. george follows her out to comfort her but not before shooting a pimple jinx at pansy that lasts for days after.  ✘. when adha shows up at the burrow, desperate for refuge, george threatens to leave with her if his parents don’t let her stay. fred agreed to leave with them because he wasn’t going to let his twin go without him. they let her stay but she worries that it’s only to keep george from leaving. to begin with, that was true, but after adhara tells molly and arthur what she had been through they decide they won’t let it happen again.  ✘. george stands up against ron every time he says something bad about adha because she’s 1) a slytherin, 2) a werewolf, 3) lived with the malfoys for years. they’ve gotten in at least one physical fight but it took adha telling george that she didn’t want to get between him and his family for him to be more subtle in getting back at ron about it.  ✘. hermione and adha don’t particularly get along until after hermione was tortured by bellatrix and then she has a kind of respect for adha.  ✘. adha once has a panic attack because she made an accidental mess and thought molly was going to be furious with her. it took george an hour to calm her down and make sure she knew it wasn’t a big deal. ✘. george makes an effort to try and figure out things adha likes because so much individually had been beaten out of her. he spends a bunch of saved-up money on sweets to see which ones she liked and which ones she didn’t. ✘. he spends a fairly decent amount of time on creating calming candies and yes, they do only come in adha’s favourite flavours that he spent days coaxing out of her. ✘. george spends ages figuring out little ways to help adha when she gets anxious. he charms his and fred’s room to be mostly soundproof but with a few small noises when he realises that total silence makes her just as anxious as a lot of noise and then he lets her escape into it whenever she needs to. he lets her sort out his abundance of chocolate frog cards because it seems to calm her down to focus on doing something. when he and fred start breeding pygmy puffs, he lets adha play with them and even offers for her to keep one but when she refuses he conjures up a plush of one for her instead. it’s one of the few things she actually owns for herself.  ✘. george is the only person she lets get close to her scars. when she’s comfortable enough with him, he kisses them. ✘. adha worries about looking too much like bellatrix at one point and cuts all her hair off, only to immediately panic after doing it. george insists she still looks pretty and that she shouldn’t worry about it. ✘. unrelated to cirge (adorge?): but tonks and sirius don’t die because adha specifically hunts down and kills bellatrix before she can do anything. it’s very cathartic for her.

she stares, distrusting, at the small bottled potion that had been shoved into her face. more specifically, shoved towards her nose. she tilts the bottle, watching the pearly sheen of it. an odd twist of steam rose spinning from its surface the more she moved it. her lips curve into a curious frown and her eyes flicker from side to side where she’s flanked by the weasley twins. 

“go on then. smell it!” fred urges, pushing the hand she was holding the bottle in up to her face again. she opens her mouth to protest before sighing, realising by now that she wasn’t going to get out of this until she did it. 

so she lifts the bottle to her nose, taking a cursory sniff. she’s immediately hit by the smell of custard. then pine needles. and after that the smell of wool, though with a hint of something very distinctly george.

Love questions for George and Circe

Who said “I love you” first?  listen, circe throws around the word love a lot because she genuinely does love her friends and family and such, but she was thrown into a vague kind of panic when george first said he loved her. she can dish it out but has a hard time taking it. yes, she loved him back but her brain was like ‘panik’ and he also said it in passing so she didn’t get the chance to say it back the first time. after that, she’s a lot more comfortable saying to him and hearing it back. 

What are their primary love languages?  they’re big on physical touch and quality time. 

How often do they cuddle/engage in PDA?  circe is a very affectionate person and that didn’t change much since getting into a relationship with george. they’re very comfortable kissing in public or circe will sit on george’s lap or they’ll hold hands. sometimes they’ll be overly affectionate just to get on ron’s nerves because they think it’s funny. 

What are their favourite things to do together?  they really just like hanging out with each other. lazing around or flying together. or even just being in the same room where george will be working on new things for the store and circe will be reading. 

Who’s better at comforting the other?  circe. mainly because she'll bottle up her own emotions in favour of helping someone else with their’s; but when circe does break down or gets caught letting out her emotions, george is very good at calming and comforting her. 

Who’s more protective?  they’re both protective. maybe george more-so after losing his brother. 

Do they prefer verbal or physical affection?  probably physical more. there’s a lotta kisses, especially non-lip kisses. george will kiss her forehead or her hands or the side of her head or her cheek, she’ll pepper his face with kisses whenever she gets the chance and especially if she’s wearing lipstick/gloss. circe finds physical affection more grounding, like george giving her hip or her hand a little squeeze when she’s overwhelmed. 

What are some songs that apply to their relationship, in-universe or otherwise?  me and my husband - mitski, sweater weather - the neighbourhood, strawberry blonde - mitski. also for the werewolf au that i haven’t decided is canon or not: stay - amelie. 

What kind of nicknames do they call each other?  george throws out any and all kinds of nicknames: circ (like sir-ss), babe/baby, love, darling, doll. he sometimes calls her ‘sweet-tart’ in reference to a custard pie incident when they were younger. circe will call him babe or hon, but also often calls him georgie.

GENERAL

Who initiated the relationship, and how did it go?  george did after the yule ball. it went well and circe was very much like ‘thank merlin finally!’. fred popped up to finally be able to relentless tease them about it publicly.

Did they have an official first date? If so, what was it like?  not really but if anyone asks it was the yule ball. technically, it was probably a hogsmeade date where they bought a bunch of honeydukes candy and had a little snack date all to themselves. 

What was their first kiss like?  they were both very excited to kiss each other but ultimately george was the first to lean in, albeit he was grinning and she was giggling and it was a little awkward because of that but they had a lot of little kisses in quick succession to the first kiss. 

Were they each other’s first anything (kiss, relationship, etc.)?  i’d say they were each other’s first everythings. 

What’s their height difference? Age difference?  i use the phelps’ heights, so george is about 6′3″, circe is 5′5″. they have a 2 year age difference with george as the elder. 

What’s their relationship with each other’s families?  sirius took a bit to warm up to george after finding out he was into circe and sirius being a little protective of her. the weasleys (bar ron) love circe and she gets along with practically all of them except ron and sometimes percy. 

Who takes the lead in social situations?  circe. george is the quieter twin, he’s happy to let circe lead a lot of the time. 

Who gets jealous easier?  neither really, albeit circe has on more than one occasion pretended to not know the difference between fred and george and tease that she’s going to kiss fred but george pulls them apart before it’s ever happened. they (circe and fred) think it’s funny. 

DOMESTIC LIFE

If they get married, who proposes?  george does and in the same vein of circe panicking about him first saying ‘i love you’, she very quickly says yes and then later panics a little bit because of her irrational fears about people loving her and then dying. she quickly bypasses that though because they’ve been together a few years by that point and nothing bad has happened since the war. 

What’s the wedding like? Who attends?  it’s decently sized, pretty rustic vibes, a lot of yellow. she invited all the weasleys, the golden trio, and a few of their classmates, but notably the greengrass sisters and draco who comes along with astoria. 

How many kids do they have, if any? What are they like?  they have 4. the oldest (aludra), the twins (fred ii and rubeus), and the youngest (lacerta). aludra is girly and emotional, fred ii is a prankster like his namesake, rubeus is a softer prankster with a green thumb, lacerta is a willowy dreamy type. 

Do they have any pets?  they have circe’s cat, verity, and her owl, fortuna, until both eventually pass. circe desperately wants a crup. the kids have a few pygmy puffs. 

Who’s the stricter parent?  maybe circe, though it’s a very loose kind of strict. 

Who kills the bugs in the house?  george because bugs are circe’s worst fear, bad enough to be her boggart. 

How do they celebrate holidays?  they do it big most times with the exception of valentine’s day. valentine’s day is their own day and they just get away to themselves and relax. 

Who’s more likely to convince the other to come back to sleep in the morning?  george even though he’s the one with the job. circe is food and morning-cup-of-tea driven but eventually gives in, even if just to let george sleep in her arms while she plays with his hair. they’ll sometimes spend hours in the morning on days when george doesn’t work. 

Who’s the better cook?  neither are particularly good cooks, but they do know a lot of cooking spells to compensate. she swears george to silence so he’ll never tell his mother about it. she does have some recipes that she came make when she does bring food to family dinners but they’re mostly desserts.

lifting someone up out of excitement/ George and Circe

Let it be known, Circe Shafiq knew nothing of quidditch. She barely knew the names of the balls used, she didn’t understand the scoring system, she didn’t know the players roles bar the twins being beaters. However don’t be convinced that she didn’t show up to nearly every match at Hogwarts. All those players looked great in their uniforms and she had to support the twins of course, even if she was chilled to the bone in the stands. 

Lee’s calling something from his own stand but really, Circe is barely listening to him. She’s in the front of a Hufflepuff stand, leaning her chin on her arms, a delicate smile curved on her lips as her gaze flickered between George and Fred.

Harry flies passed, catching Circe’s attention for a moment and she lets her pale eyes follow him. He seems determined but from where she’s sat, she can’t spot the snitch. When she looks away from him, she notices George drifting to a stop by the Hufflepuff stand, seemingly taking a breather. He glances up, catching her eye and throws her a wave with his club. She beams widely back at him, giving a small wiggle of her fingers in reply. Then, she shoots up to her feet, jabbing a finger off in the direction behind him.

“Watch it!” she shouts. Quickly, George turns and whaps the bludger heading for him. The bludger goes wide, disappearing back into the fray of the match. She breathes a sigh of relief, then huffs a short laugh when the Weasley twin looks back at her with a thumbs up and a grin.

He flies off again and Circe settles back into her seat, re-crossing and resting her arms on the stand’s edge. Her chin drops back onto them shortly after.

As the game continues, the hufflepuff finds her mind drifting, head slipping until her cheek is pressed into her forearm, warmed by the wool of her yellow and black house sweater. She’s got charms homework back in the common room and her mind flickers through proper spell pronunciations and wand movements. She mentally flips through it all alphabetically, sunflower yellow painted fingernails tapping on the wood. The players and the pitch are practically a blur in front of her unfocused eyes, all shifting merging colours that shot around undefined. She’s not even sure who’s winning.

Then, all at once, it’s a cacophony of cheers from all around her. People are jumping out of their seats in nearly all the stands; in her own, the students bustle her from every side. Blinking back into focus, she notes Harry pumping his fist with a golden glimmer twixt his fingers. Gryffindor had won! She leaps out of her seat herself with an excited shout, finding herself turning and sprinting down the stairs.

She’s a glint of bright solid yellow in the sea of red as she races onto the pitch with a bunch of Gryffindor students. She’s not the first to reach the team and she bumped around by the other excited teens, all loudly cheering for and crowding around the victors. Most flock to Harry and Circe splits from them after a punch to his shoulder to knock into George’s side. He turns to her, grinning wide and sweeps her in a hug, lifting her off her feet as he spins them around. All Circe can do is laugh, arms wrapping around his neck to steady herself as he finally stops spinning to instead bounce cheerily from foot to foot, chanting ‘we won!’ as he did.

Coffee shop AU: Who is the barista, and who frequents the coffee shop?  fred and george are baristas at circe’s favourite coffee shop and half the time that circe comes in, she orders increasingly ridiculous drinks because she thinks it’s funny and doesn’t care about the flavour. the other half the time, it’s iced coffee. every so often, she tells him to just make her something and half the time he’ll make her something he thinks she’ll actually like and the other half it’s something straight-up gross and he watches her drink it all down anyway. he is amazed by her. 

Highschool/College AU: Who is the straight-A student, and who’s the backrow slacker?  circe is the straight-a student and a hard worker. she gets matched up with george because the teacher was trying to split up the twins because the teacher is sure they’d do a good job in class if they stopped fucking around together. little did the teacher know that circe also enjoys fun and she can get a solid a in class while also fucking around with george. 

Rivals to loves AU: Who takes their rivalry seriously, and who is half in it just to push the other’s buttons?  this fits especially for slytherin-sorted au. circe takes the rivalry seriously because she’s been raised up by the malfoys and draco has shown distain for the weasleys so she should too right? george just goes along with it to try and get her to loosen up also because he thinks she’s cute and it gives him a reason to hang around her. 

Enemies to lovers AU: Which one switches sides?  also good for slytherin-sorted au. circe flips sides very easily once the death eaters come into it and the dark mark and she abandons it all immediately. george is the first of the weasleys(& hermione + harry) to trust her despite her ‘villainous history’. 

Soulmate AU: Who is eager to meet their soulmate? Who absolutely does not want to meet their soulmate?  george is eager to meet his soulmate. it’s not that circe doesn’t want to meet her soulmate, she’s just very anxious about who they are and what they’re like and if they’ll actually like her for her and not just because they’re soulmates and she’s very in her own head about it. she figures out first that george is her soulmate and keeps it a secret, freaking out over it because george is her friend. 

Single parent AU: Which one is the single parent? (Alt. if they’re both single parents: Which one is open to starting a new relationship from the start? Which one is never planning on finding love again… Until they meet the other and are instantly smitten?)  for the singular single parent, maybe circe? for both single parents, george goes on some dates but hasn’t committed to anyone. circe hadn’t gone on any dates and was fully committed to just being a parent until she meets george and they just keep running into each other and circe can’t stop thinking about him and her kid likes him. 

Doctor AU: Which one is the longsuffering doctor? Which one is the patient?  circe is absolutely the doctor, george is the one who keeps coming in because he got injured during a prank or something. or sometimes even comes in on slow days for ridiculously simple things just to see circe. she finds him endearing. 

Bodyguard AU: Who is the bodyguard? Who are they protecting? Which one is secretly pining for the other?  george is hired as circe’s bodyguard because she’s the daughter of two very wealthy, upper class, celebrity families. circe likes parties and is big on activism and doesn’t keep her mouth shut about her opinions so she got a bodyguard to watch her back. george at least finds himself having fun protecting her. he’s very much pining for her, not helped by the fact that she is blatantly flirting with him all the time. an article comes out speculating if george is her ‘bodyguard or boyfriend?’ and circe just smiles and doesn’t give a solid answer about it. 

Pirate AU: Who is the pirate? Who is the member of the royal family who did not sign up for this?  fred and george are infamous pirates. they aren’t in the business of killing anyone but make a habit of messing with people and treasure hunting. adhara is the daughter of the royal black family, her parents in an arranged marriage although they did come to truly care for each other until they’re untimely deaths. adhara frequently dresses up as a commoner and goes by ‘circe’ to escape her cruel extended family. she gets swept up into this whole pirate business and just runs with it because it’s better than going back home. george thinks she’s fun and wants to keep her around and teaches her how to defend herself with a sword, fred agrees to keep her aboard because she gives them intimate details on shitty royal families that they should fuck with (including her own). 

Childhood best friends AU: Which one was super obviously in love with the other the whole time? Who was oblivious until they were older?  circe was absolutely head-over-heels enamoured for george from a young age. george thought she was fun to be around but ultimately viewed her as his younger brother’s friend-rival until they were older. he has some changed feelings towards her when she was a little older (like 16?) but never acted on it and eventually they drifted apart. she comes back into his life at like 20 and still has lingering feelings for him but pretends it was all just a childhood crush until she realises he likes her back.
