hi guys it's more Downpour!Maria because of course

since here she still has the Black Gungnir and thus doesn't really get to wield the Airgetlám's dagger, I figured I might as well make her really good at knife tricks as a cheeky little reference

also I gave her Black Gungnir and Serena's Airgetlám a XV design update because I'm super normal

It's time for assorted Downpour AU doodles because there's way too many of these to make thematic posts every time-

Since both Maria and Serena have short hair, Shirabe decided to give herself a haircut to fit in with them; it doesn't go well but at least she didn't chip her ear off in the process

Also hey the fight at the beginning of G looks slightly different here, mostly due to Shirabe's duo relic Shul Shagana-Igalima: instead of roller skating around she uses Igalima's blades as spider legs

While everyone (except Kirika) suffers in Downpour, Kanade and Miku get to live in yuri heaven and provide live commentary regarding Hibiki and Tsubasa's love life

Maria's first thoughts upon meeting anyone generally revolve around how if and how she would kill them; threat assessment is engrained into her body but she's also very bad at social interactions so she often entertains the idea of killing people over the mildest of inconveniences

Hibiki is extremely clingy and needy and Tsubasa is extremely bad at initializing physical contact but also touch starved; they quite literally compliment each other's needs

and also clarifying that the Serena/Hibiki friendship dynamic is a very important part of this AU; Serena here is very much Hibiki's confidant and also one of the AUs designated sunshine girls along with Kirika

Oh they very much are.

So, funnily enough Serena gets to live in Downpour AU; it doesn't make things that much better but at least she's there for Maria and Shirabe, being the most well-adjusted one of the group by a LONG shot. Of course, she still has scars from her abuse, but she's beyond even Tsubasa in coming to terms with it.

Maria on the other hand is... significantly more okay with killing as long as it keeps Serena and Shirabe safe, since the FIS's abuse here really did a number on her ability to empathize with people. She's ruthless, but also still affected by the things she forces herself to do. Serena is the person that grounds her, doing her hair buns everyday so that she keeps at least a semblance of individuality and self.

Shirabe gets to duo relic Igalima and Shul Shagana here, and thus gets singled out by Finé as an exceptionally powerful Receptor Child. This leads to years of isolation that really do a number on her, before Maria and Serena are able to break through her walls. Do note her mostly white hair and distinct lack of abuse scars when compared to Serena and Maria's.

Meanwhile Kirika never gets kidnapped by the FIS, has a perfectly healthy family and is pretty much Lydia's queen bee. She is literally the only person that wins in Downpour AU and I am not joking. Thankfully that does make her significantly more well equipped to be there for Shirabe once they do eventually find each other because of course they do I'm not enough of a monster to separate them (says the man who killed Miku off).

Also instead of a whip, Serena's Armed Gear is straight up a reference to the Fusion Sword from Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, mostly because of an in-joke with friends—
