why IN THE HOME? as a working professional photographer who has shot both film and digitally for 15+ years, working in a myriad of genres, i want to speak beyond the creative and technical processes of recording images. -  on a very personal note, born by regret and opportunities lost, i’ve come to value the magic and power of a photograph. photography has the power to hold the pieces of eternity. what a gift a photo is. to manufacture a record of time. like steel to the machinist, we slice wedges of time. and yet we take it for granted. we record ourselves doing everything and everywhere - emblazoned with obnoxious selfie sticks. we cook them in applications, we smear them with artifice. it’s common place digital mediocrity becomes a nuisance that spills from the kitchen table. and so we blot out the life in our stories, our flaws. our individuality. our beautiful humanity.  where is the authenticity? where is the heart? the heart is found in the messy, the heart is found in the stories within our walls, the heart is found IN THE HOME. i’m giving the gift i never had. family lifestyle photography in your home.   as many of you know, both of my parents are deceased.  and i am their only son, their only child.  life gets messy. but there was a time, when we were together. it was a magical time, it was in my home. and it was far from perfect. we had orange carpet, and barn wood walls, dishes were stacked in the sink, and we had one too many cats. but there was love in the home...and it was real, it was us. that time. together.  i would give anything to relive in those moments.  to hold that piece of time, and carry it with me. in my home.  schedule your IN THE HOME session by email: duston@boxonfire.com
