Days of No Response

   If anyone had a clue, it wouldn’t had happened. But that’s the thing about surprises. They happened at the least opportune time.

     Logan wasn’t sure what gave him the idea to duck out, but he did. He had enough food to last a least a week, possibly two if he rationed it right. Which is what he intended. The only thing he’d have an issue with is liquids. So he had to smuggle bottles of water. When he was first questioned, he just said it was so he could keep hydrated. It worked, luckily. He let out a sigh. If only he could summon things, then he wouldn’t have to worry.

    But that was a problem for another time. Right now, he had to evade Roman on his way to his room. The princely side’s room was right beside his. If he saw the bag of food, he’d question and Logan couldn’t think of a proper excuse without the help of another side. Yet he knew the others would ask. So he was stuck on the landing looking at the door.

    Then he sighed and just hid it on the right side since it was further from the door. He kept his gaze forward not wanting to draw attention to hisself. But Roman still saw him.

    “Hey, Lo. What’s up?” He asked innocently. 

    Logan jumped and turned to face him, hiding the bag behind him. “Nothing much. I’m just heading to my room to work on a project.” He lied not wanting to draw attention to his back.

    “Oh, ok. Don’t let me stop you then.” Roman said with a smile as he returned to his own work. Completely unaware of what was going to happen.

   Logan relaxed and turned to head to his room again. The bag returning to his right side out of view of the Prince. A few steps away from his room, his haven. 

   But then Patton materialized in front of him.

   “Oh, hey Logi. What’s up?” He asked in a cheerful tone. Patton noticed the bag in his hand. “What’s the bag about?” He added getting curious.

   Logan stiffened. “Oh, uh... I’m going to be working on a project and I may forget to come to dinner. So this,” He said raising the bag. “is so I don’t forget to eat.” He explained letting the bag fall to his side again.

   Patton frowned some. “I could just knock on your door, so that way we don’t have to worry about missing it.” He said offering a small smile.

   Logan returned the smile. “Yeah, but once I get started I can’t really leave it for too long. Time sensitive.” He added to his lie and let his gaze shift to anywhere but Patton’s concerned gaze.

   The moral side could feel that something was wrong, but he didn’t want to make the other uncomfortable. “Oh, ok. Well, at least you won’t go hungry. Don’t let me stop you, I guess.” He said with a weaker smile then before.

   Logan sighed. “Alright. Thank you Pat.” He said with a sigh.

   His shoulder bumped into Patton’s as he passed by hastily. Part of him wanted to turn back and apologize, but any more stops like this. And he’d never get through with this plan.

    Logan finally made it in his room and slid down the door. Tears were spilling out. Why was this happening? His room was a sacred place that was untouched by emotions.

   A great example of why I needed to leave. They’re starting to cloud my logic. He thought and shook his head. The only person to blame was his mind. The others didn’t do anything wrong. At least that’s what he said to not feel terrible.

He pulled his legs up and hid face in between his legs. The tears flowed freely and the room clicked closed. 

                                      He was officially ducked out
