Actually, now that I think about it...

Shiryu couldn't Proud Dragon Seigfried because Shura said no because he didn't sacrifice himself for Shiryu to die this soon.

So then Seigfried did his own version of Proud Dragon to Sorrento and now they're both dead.

Shiryu is no longer allowed to Proud Dragon but everyone else can do it as much as they like. I don't see how that's fair, but okay.

Although Shiryu knew that his fight aganist Siegfried was a losing battle, Shiryu countined to fight so he can reveal Siegfried's weakness to Seiya. 

Shiryu truly had faith that Seiya will save Athena and the world in the end. No matter what.
