The Explanation Behind EVERYTHING

I know. I’m not supposed to post anymore “drama” in the tag. And after this post, I won’t.

I have a reason why I’m posting this in the tag. It’s because there’s too many people who need to see this, and it’s just simpler to post it here, then send 30-40 people a million and three asks to fit all of this in (Since it’s all connected, and pretty much is one big snowball effect, causing the state of the fandom now.)

Anyways, before you just click out without reading, I need to say that it’s very important that EVERYONE reads this, even if you’re 100% sure you didn’t have anything to do with this. (And you may not, but it’s still very important that you read, or at least skim this).

Many of you believe me to be the main cause of the “drama” in this tag, to the point where if someone who isn’t me causes drama they refer to it as “pulling a Mimi”.

I figures, since many of you seem to just think I’m playing the victim, I should tell my side of the story, so you can at least understand me and my actions a little better.

The Beginning of the Problem

Now, let’s go way back, to early last May.

I’m sure many of you, who have been around that long, remember when Mimi first appeared in the tag.

Some of you probably thought “Cool! The first OC for the DTMG fandom!”

Some of you probably thought “Dear lord…an OC…”

And there are the few who, the moment they saw my OC, made it their MISSION to make my life in this fandom as miserable as possible.

Anyways, yes, my immaturity at the time, did play into this. I was still in Middle School. And Middle Schoolers are usually stupid and immature, and say horrible things, because they don’t know the truth.

I made a picture of Mimi in a doll maker, made a new Tumblr account, wrote a little backstory, and BAM! I was in business.

Not long after, I heard about Ectofeature.

The first time I heard about Ectofeature, I thought it was an episode of DTMG that I hadn’t seen yet. So naturally, being the curious person I am, I looked it up.

I found the Tumblr tag, and I ended up finding art of Billy and Spencer kissing.

Now, at the time, I didn’t know much about the show, but I knew that Billy and Spencer were blood relatives. So I was a perturbed by this, since incest pairings have always bothered me (I have a few qualms with Pinecest too)

And I know what you’re gonna say. “But Ectofeature isn’t incest! Cousins can get married in some places!”

Well, yes, true, some places cousins can get married. But those are small misogynistic homophobic hick towns where being inbred is the norm. I would know, I live in a county where the only people who aren’t related, are the people from another county.

As for Ectofeature, I didn’t really like it, because I wasn’t into cousins kissing each other. Heck, if it weren’t for the fact that they were cousins, I would be almost on board with it.

I’ll explain why I won’t be on board with it later.

The more important thing is the fact that whenever I mention the fact that Billy and Spencer being cousins bothering me when it came to Ectofeature, I got messages saying I was being “a close minded homophobic piece of shit”, and some people went as far as trying to send me messages trying to justify the ship, even trying to get me to like it. :(

Now, this is when the drama started brewing, around a week before the very first blow-up.

A Week Before the Drama

The first bit of hate I got was LONG before the drama started.

It said “Yea sure, but then he screams "WOW MIMI IS SUCH A TERRIBLE GIRL IN BED UNH SPENCE YOU'RE SO MUCH BETTER"”

(I count that as hate, since it was being said in a mean way, to insult my character. Note that it’s Ectofeature related.)

Then, there were people sending me some really screwed up shit to try and scare me away.

It wasn’t really hate, but it was certainly messed up.

Basically, it was all a game of “How to get Mimi to leave the fandom.”

And from what it looked like, Ectofeature shippers were behind it.

Now, I don’t think that ALL the Ectofeature shippers were involved, but this wasn’t giving me a very good image of them, so I was frustrated and I fired a few shots that I shouldn’t have.

Now, of course, this also set up the pattern:

Next, we’ll talk about the second instance of drama.

The Drama Continues

The second instance of drama is probably also when I got depression.

It was mid-July, and my dad had to get some serious surgery on his spine. Unless that surgery went FLAWLESSLY, there was a chance he may never have walked again. And if he can’t walk? He loses the only job he could get, which he hadn’t had more than 5 months at the time.

That would thrust me and my mom back to poverty, and back to misery.

So we woke up at 3am, and drove 3 hours to the closest major city for his surgery, after that, there was hours of waiting in the waiting room, and after he was in surgery, there was an additional 6 hours.

The surgery, thank god, went as planned. Still, it was an emotionally heavy day.

I got home at around 6pm, and I was more than ready to go online and unwind.

But guess what I came home to.

Yep, you guessed it, anon hate.

That was the first message I got that said “go kill urself” and then also this ask:

“Can't lie through you still posted hate in the tag as for the OC hate hmm I think it's because your pairing your OC with Billy and making Billy out of character while doing so is what's brings on the hate (doing that is a little like most Mary Sue characters do) the other OC don't really pair up with billy Romantically at all otherwise no one would mind or care about her being a OC in the dtmg fandom”

The hate I posted in the tag is the hate I post in May, which I had already apologized about.

And this is why I made that long rant about how I disliked that people don’t like pairing OCs with canon characters.

So even if you personally don’t have a problem with it, this message is proof that some people DO.

And this also goes into how some people were trying to limit the DTMG OCs, but that’s not what I’m talking about.

And once again, I complain about this, and I get stuff saying that I’m playing the victim. If you were me during that moment, you’d know the hurt I felt that day.

That was the day when I really honestly felt like everyone was against me. And on that day, many people probably were against me.

I cried, and cried, and almost threw up.

The Tagging Issue

This is the second to latest instance of drama in the tag.

A lot of people who ship Ectofeature make art of it. At least a third of that art is graphic.

Now, many of the people are good about tagging it, whether they made the post, or reblogged it. If you always tag it, you’re good.

If you posted it, and it wasn’t tagged, but you tagged it when asked, you’re good.

If you post it, and god forbid you post porn, and you don’t tag it, and then when asked you go “Lol, nope.”, then I’m talking about you.

I complained about how someone wouldn’t tag it (thank god it wasn’t porn, but still, it wasn’t tagged properly.) and I got 20+ messages saying “They don’t have to tag it if they don’t want to”, someone even called me “the tagging nazi” (which angers me, comparing me asking someone to tag something and being disappointed when they don’t and say “lol nope” being compared to the genocide of thousands of Jewish people is just a a appalling move on their part.)

And if “they don’t have to tag it if they don’t want to” was the case, then how come, even though I don’t wanna tag my Homestuck, if I post any without tagging it, I get a bazillion asks (probably from the same people who said that) saying to tag my Homestuck? (That’s how I know I forgot to tag it.)

So that’s basically a double standard, right there.

And then, on top of that, I got hate for the fact I didn’t really want to see two guys who are related doing things that people who are related shouldn’t do.

The Most Recent Drama

Now, the explanation for the “Why do you all hate me?” thing is simple.

It’s because I just feel unwelcome in the fandom in general. Every day I get at least five messages saying something along the lines of “Leave the fandom, you piece of shit”.

I felt so unwelcome that I actually feel like I’m walking on eggshells around you all. That’s not how fandoms are supposed to be.

We’re supposed to be supportive of each other, but that’s not the vibe I’m getting.

And this is probably irrelevant, but it kinda feels like the Ectofeature shippers have it better off.

Like, I say something, and it gets two notes, then, an Ectofeature shipper says the exact same thing AFTER I said it (long enough after for them to have seen my post), and suddenly it blows up and ends up with hundreds of notes.

Heck, when I make suggestions, it feels like it falls on deaf ears, yet someone who isn’t me makes a suggestion and everyone’s like “hey, let’s do that!”

So, basically, I feel unwelcome, cause it feels like when I say something, no one cares, but if anyone else says something, it’s like “hey, yeah, let’s listen to this person!”

Conclusion

I hope after reading all of this, you understand my side of the story.

I just want better treatment, and less of this drama bullshit.

I want people to consider my words.

Can someone please please stop that OC Lana blog mun from doing something harmful to herself I can't reach her at the moment and her last post left me rather worried about that mental state she is in, heck I know everyone worries over Mimi's mum being treated right and all but can we really let someone go on to harm themselves over thinking tumblr and a fandom hates them?

Lana, don’t let yourself bring you down on things. We all make mistakes, I’ve been there too in a similar position as you, only it was involving a guy I really liked. I know the stupid, unwanted, and embarrassed feelings you’re probably feeling over hurting someone/multiple people. We start spewing excuses to justify our actions, like our conditions, motives, past, etc. That’s just human nature to protect ourselves even if we’re wrong. Stress and emotion makes it just come out all jumbled and meaningless to the reader.

But I think I understand how you feel, that you think you let down a whole fandom, and think they don’t want you in it anymore. Well to be honest, you can’t “kick” someone out of a fandom. All it is is a community of fans, and asking someone to leave (if this is happening to you) over a “stolen” idea is just plain bullying. And it’s not even the idea the whole fandom hates you, because they don’t. Some people get mad, but they will never hate you. There is no reason to. I promise, as long as you recognize whatever it is you’ve done wrong, and keep from bringing it up/doing it again, it will blow over and people will forgive and forget.

A fandom is a family, and all family members fight and get mad at each other at some point. But it’s no different just because we aren’t physically related, it’s the same in the sense that we must confront those peacefully, apologize equally even if the other has done no wrong, make a truce and continue on loving what we love. 

There is never a reason to hurt yourself over things like this, if you intend to do ill-well towards yourself. Believe it or not, people in this fandom care about you no matter what you do, like anon-chan and I. Think of those who are worried about you. You can vent to me or anyone who messages you. Stay strong, girl.
