What is a Corneal Transplant?
Tumblr media
With corneal transplants, scarred or damaged tissue is replaced with healthy donor tissue. Corneal transplants either replace the whole cornea (standard full thickness known as Penetrating Keratoplasty) or individual layers (partial thickness known as DSAEK, DMEK and DALK). The type of transplant performed depends on the prior condition and extent of the damage.

Advanced Cornea Treatment Options
The cornea is one of the most important parts of the eye that plays a crucial role in vision. It is the transparent outermost layer of the eye that covers the iris and the pupil. Any damage to the cornea can affect vision, and in severe cases, it can lead to blindness. Fortunately, advancements in medical technology have made it possible to treat various corneal conditions with a high degree of success.
Common Corneal Conditions and Treatment Options
Corneal Ulcers
Corneal ulcers are one of the most common corneal conditions that occur due to an infection. If left untreated, corneal ulcers can cause vision loss and even lead to blindness. At the Raj Hospital, we offer the following treatment options for corneal ulcers:
Antibiotics: Antibiotics are the first line of treatment for corneal ulcers. Our cornea specialists use the latest antibiotics to treat corneal ulcers and prevent further damage to the cornea.
Corneal Transplantation: In severe cases where the cornea is extensively damaged, corneal transplantation is the only option. At our hospital, we offer advanced corneal transplantation procedures such as Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (DALK) and Descemet’s Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSAEK).
Keratoconus
Keratoconus is a condition where the cornea becomes thin and cone-shaped, causing blurred vision. At the Raj Hospital, we offer the following treatment options for keratoconus:
Corneal Cross-Linking: Corneal cross-linking is a non-invasive procedure that uses UV light and a photosensitizer to strengthen the cornea. This procedure can slow down or even stop the progression of keratoconus.
Intacs Implantation: Intacs are tiny implants that are inserted into the cornea to reshape it and improve vision. This procedure is ideal for patients who are not eligible for corneal transplantation.

a thing i significantly dislike about myself is the knee jerk reflex i get to patients being a little too effusive in thanking god. like today i had someone tell me how they got better because of prayers and how much better things would be if everyone just put themselves in the hands of god like *theyd* just done. and like i was genuinely very pleased to see how much better they were doing. but also maam i dont think god knows how to do a dsaek. did god also give you the pseudomonas infection that got you in this shit in the first place. bc i think we should give credit where credit is due and if you wanna attribute microsutures to god i think he should also be attributed with there being evil slime inside your eye.
like this is a monumentally whiny bitchy baby thing to do. especially considering the absolute backflips and psychological contortions i can normally do to be sympathetic towards nasty people. and yet in this specific instance i have to lie to myself So much harder than i do for so many other weird things i get told every day. i'm just gonna be fighting this bias for the rest of my life and i'm not very good at it bc even as im thinking that im like "god the church is just never fucking done with you is it!!!!" which is exactly the original problem im trying to not have

Tumblr media

How BEST OPHTHALMOLOGY HOSPITAL Succeeds?
Ophthalmology is the study of conditions that affect the eyes. Ophthalmologists are doctors who specialize in the clinical and meticulous treatment of the eye.
The hospital's clinical team consists of the following individuals:
An ophthalmologist is a clinical professional who has a lot of authority when it comes to diagnosing and treating eye disorders. They're also in charge of determining whether or whether foundational ailments manifest themselves in the form of unmistakable indicators and side effects seen in the eyes. Ophthalmologists have typically completed between 12 and 13 years of training and preparation.
Ophthalmologists are the primary eye care specialists who are medically and meticulously equipped to handle eye disorders. They perform medical treatments on their patients' eyes on occasion, with the specific goal of achieving improved visual perception and, as a result, personal happiness.
The technology available at the Hospital:
·         Lasik: SMILE:  LASIK, or Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis, is a refractive medical surgery in which lasers are used to reshape the cornea and correct partial blindness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. The SMILE method is a type of Refractive Lenticule Extraction (ReLEx). Small Incision Lenticule Extraction, or Grin, is a modification of the ReLEx FLEx procedure. ReLEx is another age-related laser vision correction procedure that uses a femtosecond laser (a specific laser). The Visumax machine is used to carry out the procedure.
·         Lasik: FLEx: Laser Vision Correction involves reshaping the cornea with a laser to correct vision problems. A femtosecond laser is a special type of laser used in sophisticated eye operations. Femtosecond Lenticule Extraction (FLEx) is a type of Refractive Lenticule Extraction (ReLEx) laser vision rectification technique that is among the most advanced available today. A refractive lenticule is a portion of corneal tissue that is shaped like a circle. The FLEx Technique, which uses the Visumax machine, is currently available in a restricted number of clinics.
·         Corneal Transplant: DSAEK: Corneal Transplantation is a procedure in which a patient's damaged cornea (the transparent outer layer of the eye) is removed and replaced with a healthy cornea. It might be a full-thickness or partial-thickness relocation. Descemet's Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSAEK) is a Descemet's Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSAEK) procedure. This is a fractional thickness corneal transfer in which only the endothelial cell layer, which is the deepest layer of the cornea, is replaced. (The Descemet's Membrane is the membrane that lies outside of the endothelial cell layer.) It is most likely one of the most significant advancements in the field of corneal transplantation in the recent long term.
·         Cataract: Micro Incision Cataract Surgery: The blurring of your eye's regular focal point is known as a waterfall (the part which shines light beams to frame sharp pictures). There is no professional treatment for waterfall as of today, and you must carefully evacuate your overcast focus point before replacing it with a counterfeit focal point. The most recent innovation in the field of waterfall medical procedure advancements is Miniature Incision Cataract Surgery (MICS). When compared to the old 10 to 12 mm cuts, this method now allows for cuts to be as small as 1 to 3 mm. When compared to the hard plastic focus points used previously, the smaller entry points also mean that delicate folding focal point inserts are used. By any stretch of the imagination, it also contains either a single join or no lines at all.
·         Corneal Grafting: DALK: Corneal grafting is a procedure in which a portion or all of an eye's diseased cornea (the arch-shaped front transparent surface of the eye) is removed and replaced with a solid cornea from a donor. Profound Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (DALK) is a more advanced type of corneal uniting that uses fractional thickness corneas. Only the diseased front layers of the cornea are removed, leaving the endothelium, the innermost layer, undamaged. This strategy's unmistakable advantage over other traditional corneal transfers is due to the removal of the endothelial layer.
Recommendations and Notoriety:
All things considered, a real and excellent eye emergency clinic will be fantastic at treating patients. Look for an emergency clinic that has a good online rating in terms of success, patient care, and treatment, among other things.
