How different would parts of Undertale narrative be if everyone was genderswapped

on a doylist level, there's definitely SOME characters that are informed by their gender and the genre/story customs usually reserved for them. take toriel for example, you can't really have The Character She Subverts without that character being a woman and a mother. it's intrinsic to the concept. but outside of toriel, considering toby just gender swapped alphys by adding lashes and kept everything else the same, and the underground itself being a largely non-patriarchal society (as in, there's no sign of sexism, or homophobia, or transphobia. it's kind of a queernorm setting in that sense), I don't think anything would change.

which is not the same as saying anything SHOULDN'T change. toby fox i am looking you directly in the eye. you could have made sans a butch woman. we could have had everything man

what's some stuff i should play/watch/read that isn't undertale

omniscient reader's viewpoint (deltarune level metanarrative but for reverse isekai novels instead of videogames)

revolutionary girl utena (yuri classic and absurdism masterpiece. deals heavily in feminist themes and the cycles of patriarchal violence through literal narrative/thematic cycles. if you love combing through a piece of writing for symbolism that's obviously intentional but never outright explained, this series will be like disneyland for you)

homestuck. unfortunately it really is kind of that good. especially the early acts

mother 3!!!! it's such a charming game. you should play mother 2/earthbound too for the record, but i think the way m3 paces itself is REALLY well done, and the characters are so distinct and fun in a way that EB sort of fails to capture.

mmmmm. well i already got this ask once but it explicitly specified "physically" unfuckable, not in the sense of who i find less attractive. since you're not specifying anything I'm gonna read it as the usual sense of the word.

i might actually go with papyrus personally? where "least" is still very much fuckable, just not as much of a priority as the other main characters. if i met the guy I'd have other priorities, is what I'm saying

nic you need to see this one I'm too drunk to do it justice.

tldr yes.... in a sense... though at the same time the prince in utena is so tightly tied tot he conceot of. patriarchal power and privilege that I'd struggle to describe either ralsei or asriel that way. if anything ralsei as a darkner is much more of a victim.of the power system at play. one that makes sure the sustem6stays in place, but a vivtim all the same
