Also benzodiazepines! Most drug withdrawals will make you feel like hell but won’t kill you. Alcohol and benzos can.

It’s also worth mentioning that even for drugs that usually don’t have lethal withdrawal symptoms, going cold turkey usually has a higher chance of relapse than weening off with medical support. Take care of yourself, and do what you need to do to stay safe.

Do not quit alcohol cold turkey

Do not suddenly stop drinking alcohol as a new years resolution if you have been consistently using alcohol most days

Your body gets used to the presence of the alcohol as a sedative in your system

Suddenly removing the sedative you are chemically accustomed to is like suddenly removing the wall you are leaning on - you will topple over

You brain electricity gets overexcited

This causes seizures

This causes sudden onset dementia (Wernicke's encephalopathy)

This causes brain damage

If you use alcohol often (even in moderate amounts)

Or in large amounts

Or you have ever noticed you get shakey tremors and anxious when you stop drinking

Then your body is chemically dependant and you need to be very careful coming off alcohol otherwise you will cause brain damage

Slowly wean down the amount you drink over days or weeks

Talk to a doctor about your goals to quit and ask about support options

Medically supported withdrawal is a lot safer

If alcohol withdrawal goes badly there is a 15% chance it will kill you.

Do you know if there is a database of how to pronounce medication names? All my doctors/pharmacists pronounce them differently so I'd love to know if there's a standard that I can refer to without contacting the company directly.

(some examples of the weird ones: ketorolac, midodrine, 'enanthate', etc)

Probably the most accessible/easy to search one is drugs.com. Just plug in a drug name and the top of the page for that drug will look like this:

Ha! I love it. I 100% believe that Tuffnut was high on mushrooms the entirety of the episode Bad Moon Rising. That stuff can seriously mess you up!

I can’t really see the rest of the gang (save for Ruffnut) doing it purposefully with no peer pressure. Snotlout and Fishlegs could easily get pressured into it. Hiccup and Astrid? Not sure how they would get shrooms, but I assume it would be very funny if they did. It’d be kind of like the episode The Longest Day with all of them just going nuts.

Viggo tried it for experimental purposes. And oh boy, was he high. He can sing, but doesn’t often do it. I could see him singing while under the influence of drugs. Probably very loudly with reckless abandon. (Anyone who witnessed this has been sworn to secrecy under threat of torture and execution.)

I’m not so sure what would happen with Ryker. I haven’t really thought about or explored his character a whole lot. 🤔 Maybe he can sing too? Lol, idk. I picked the singing for Viggo because Alfred Molina is also a singer.
