You Know, This Used To Be Fun
Written for @corrodedcoffinfest
Day #13 - Prompt: Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll | Word Count: 1000 | Rating: M | CW: drug abuse, alcohol abuse, mention of rehab, mentioned overdose | POV: Eddie | Pairing: Steddie | Tags: Angst, hurt/no comfort (sorry!), a whistle stop tour of the Sunset Strip through the eyes of someone who has never been there, stream of consciousness, run on sentences, Eddie's head is a whirlwind.
I SWEAR I will write something fun for tomorrow, I promise you!
Title from Success Story by The Who
****
They make it to LA in Eddie’s piece of shit van and Jeff’s slightly less piece of shit station wagon, and it’s… well. It’s something.
They find a motel to hole up in before they plan their next move, because they have no idea what they’re doing, nothing is planned, they just said goodbye to everyone in Hawkins and ran, and now here they are.
They need gigs so they go hunting, and hair metal is still fucking hanging on by its polished finger nails, but it’s not just hair metal on The Strip, fuck Metallica played here. So they head there and. Jesus Christ.
Jeff gets a job at Tower Records, Gareth is waiting tables in some restaurant, and Matty works in a gas station. And Eddie, well he asked about bar work but the thing is… the thing is he’s not comfortable with people yet. He gets in his head now since Hawkins. But he finds a job as a janitor and it’s solitary enough to suit him.
It’s 1989 and they’re going to be rock stars
****
They get a gig at The Whisky. They’re the opening, opening, opening act, the doors have barely opened, it’s Thursday and Matt and Gareth had to call out sick (and they’re praying no one from their jobs like metal enough to come to The Whisky on a Thursday). It’s 7pm. and there’s barely anyone there, a couple of blonde girls and blond boys and a fuck-ton of Aqua-net; this isn’t them. This isn’t their scene. But the crowd comes later and now there’s Metallica and Judas Priest T-shirts wandering around and they slot into place.
When they play The Whisky again they’re the opening, opening act and it’s 8pm and people are coming to see them.
After the show they wander up to the Rainbow and they drink away the last of their money, and watch girls making out with guys whose faces they’ve seen in Metal Edge.
And they play their gigs and they work their jobs and it’s 1990 and one day that’s going to be them.
****
They travel up to San Francisco for some shows, getting on the bill with some other thrash bands. It blows their minds.
They get on a tour to the East Coast; they have to give up their jobs but that’s fine, because Jeff is a step away from becoming the manager and staying there, and Gareth hates his fucking job, and Matty got held up in a robbery a few months back and it scared the shit out of all of them, so fuck it. And it’s amazing, what he remembers of it, the shows are amazing, but the after was amazing too? He thinks? His memory is spotty.
And then, and then, well fuck if they haven’t been signed. Well fuck if they’re not in a studio recording an actual album, not like that shitty demo they did in Indy. Well fuck if it’s not being released.
The drugs in LA are better somehow. Like, Hawkins had baby drugs, like junior training wheels drugs, but the drugs in LA are for the grown ups. When they play shows now they’re the main attraction and now people are giving them booze and coke and pills, whatever they want, they don’t even to ask. Then they’re drinking in the Rainbow and girls are climbing on their laps, and he’s not uncomfortable but he’s not strictly comfortable either. But Jeff leaves, and Gareth walks away with some girl attached to him and Matty’s next to him with one on his lap and one nuzzled up beside him, and Eddie pushes his one off and says ‘rain check’ like he’s ever going to see her again.
The album is released and it sells, it’s in that Tower Records where Jeff nearly became a manager, and they go in there every day moving it to the front of the ‘C’s. And there’s less copies every day because people are buying it.
It’s 1991 and they’re about to be rock stars.
****
The album takes off and they get support slots on bigger tours, bands they know, whose albums are sitting in Eddie’s trailer back in Hawkins. They’re playing five thousand seat venues, and one day he sees a Corroded Coffin banner in the crowd, and fuck, it’s emotional you know? It’s what they always dreamed about.
There’s another album, and money, and then they have a headline tour across the states, Jesus Christ, and people buy them drinks, and they give them drugs, and even though they have money now they don’t have to pay for a goddamn thing.
There are girls, but Eddie finds guys on the road, guys at truck stops, and they’re famous but they’re not, you know? So it’s cool. It’s safe.
There’s a video and it’s on Headbangers Ball.
It’s 1992 and they’re rock stars.
****
Things get fuzzy after that.
There's another album. There’s festivals in Europe, and bigger tours, arenas, more guys but none of them are him, and then another album, and the drugs are good in LA, you know, but actually it’s the drink he prefers, who knew? But that’s good because Gareth and Matty prefer coke so more for them. Jeff dabbles for a while, but he gets married. She cleans him up. Eddie hates her.
There’s another album, another award, another tour, and they travel all over the world and Steve Harrington finally comes to LA, after years of Eddie asking, just as friends, you know? And Eddie drinks, because he can, and there’s another album but he doesn’t look for guys anymore because he belongs to Steve now, and there’s another tour, and Gareth ODs, but fucking shit he’s ok, and Matty cleans up, and Eddie drinks and he drinks and he drinks until Steve says “I love you but you need to stop”.
It’s 1998.
He’s thirty-two, he's an alcoholic and he’s about to go to rehab.
But hey, he’s a rock star, right?

On this date in music history….
August 29th

American drummer Ron Bushy died following a battle with cancer, at the age of 79. He was a member of the rock band Iron Butterfly and as the drum soloist on the band's iconic song In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida released in 1968. He was the only member of the group to appear on all six of its studio albums.
2021 - Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry
Jamaican record producer and singer Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry died from an unspecified illness, aged 85. He was noted for his innovative studio techniques and production style and was a pioneer in the 1970s development of dub music with his early adoption of remixing and studio effects to create new instrumental or vocal versions of existing reggae tracks. He worked with and produced for a wide variety of artists, including Bob Marley and the Wailers, Junior Murvin, Beastie Boys, Ari Up, The Clash, The Orb, and many others.

1964 - Roy Orbison
Roy Orbison's 'Oh, Pretty Woman' was released in the US. It went on to reach No.1 four weeks later. 1959 - The Quarry Men
The Quarry Men (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ken Brown) performed at the Casbah Coffee Club, Hayman's Green, West Derby, Liverpool. 12/13/14. Sat. 9:12pm
As I was disembarking BART at Dublin--Pleasanton station at about 6:35pm, Greg Bently phoned. He ran into excused juror 12 at Taco Bell who said “Cops were lying. I wouldn’t want to be arrested in Modesto.”
Other jurors feel the same way.”
No wonder the nurse alternate juror told me that my shoe was untied.
She wants to unplug the Da and his lead investigator.!
_________________________
Margin note to above: also written on 12/13/2014
The TRIAL-LIGHT ZONE.
Invented it on the drive home tonight (from the Dublin Bart station.)
“That sign post up ahead. You’re now entering Department 26…the trial-lite zone. Normal rules and laws do not apply in the trial-lite zone.”
_________________________
Back to the 12/13/14 entry:
The day started with MAC showing  up unannounced at the house at about 9am. He walked in with 40-50ish Lisa, a drug rehab  program friend.
So, I turned her into a juror. After hearing the case facts, she said “Someone’s gonna pay.”  But, I think she’d walk the  the defendants who were in the green car.
Bart was fun. Lots of Santa’s and Santa-ettes.
One, as the BART doors closed,( he had just left the BART car with a boobs-alot elf lady,) yelled back into the train “faggot” and flipped the train doors off!
Christmas class act
Probably an Arian Brotherhood Christmas gang member.
I told a black guy passing by about it. He said there were lots of drunk Santas in San Francisco today.
I found a new book store on College Ave today in Berkeley/Oakland. A good one I think. But, the checkout clerk was really rude!
The Pegasus Book’s clerks were nice
One knew Tony Serra.
He represented a friend. He did a good job. Saved her from jail.
End of entry
The 5 things. 12/13/14. 9:29pm
—The drunken Santas on BART. Some of them were hot!
—“new” book store on College Ave
—Greg Bently’s call: Juror 12 said Detective Gum is a liar.
—Meeting MAC’s friend Lisa. Telling Jim’s story to her.
—Learning that Lisa’s son came out to her as gay  5 years ago
Notes:
This entry was written while I was representing Lizandro Mendoza in a gang murder trial in Modesto, California. The trial was held in department 26, Stanislaus County Superior court. It lasted from August 4, 2014 to January 28, 2015. Greg Bentley and Tony Serra were fellow defense attorneys on the case. They represented two of the 4 co defendants.  Tony was rather famous. He has written books.
By December 13, 2014, a jury had been seated  for the trial. Apparently. Juror 12 had been excused from the jury for some reason after having heard some law enforcement testimony. An attorney can talk with an excused juror while the trial is in progress.
MAC had been living with me off and on for 4 years as of 12/13/14.
I like to turn people I encounter into jurors when I’m in trial. I run the case facts by them and ask what issues they see. Sometimes, I use points they raise in the case and in closing argument. That’s what I was doing with Lisa in the entry. My client must have been in the green car.
I believe that I have been doing “The 5 Things” since I learned about it in Kaiser chemical dependency out patient treatment in 2011.  A UC Davis professor said that if you write 5 things that you are grateful for during the day at night before you go to be, it will help you to be more grateful for things as the are happening. You can’t just say what you are greatful for. You have to write it, per the Davis professor.
Re: the boobs-alot Santa Elf with the rude Santa, Boobs-alot means that she had large breasts prominently displayed.

Mizzy is played as 21 by default but 29+ on request (this is suggested for partners who don’t like dark themes).
Name: Marc ‘Mizzy’ Levi Date of Birth: 14th April Gender: Male Orientation: Bisexual Species: Human FC: Timothée Chalamet
Biography
Rachel and Ariel decided not to have kids after the troubled birth of their first child, Eli. In the twelve years since, they forged successful careers in their own fields. Ariel wrote for Rolling Stone and Rachel represented Hollywood’s brightest stars.
But during a turbulent time, Rachel discovered that she had fallen pregnant. They seriously considered their options. While Rachel didn’t want to give up her job, Ariel agreed he could raise their new baby while working from home.
Much like Eli’s birth, Mizzy’s was troubled. While it worked out for the best, Rachel struggled to connect with Mizzy for the first few months. She would spend all her time at work and Ariel felt abandoned. It was only after one of their explosive arguments that Rachel finally agreed to go to therapy.
During the divorce, Ariel got sole custody of Mizzy without contest and moved to San Francisco.
After, a socialite Ariel had an affair with would come and go from their house whenever she was in town. She treated Mizzy like a doll, taking him to parties and buying him outfits that matched hers.
The second time she babysat Mizzy disaster struck. They found Mizzy unconscious on the kitchen floor after slipping over at one of her parties. She fled the scene, leaving her friends to take him to the hospital.
Ariel then started taking Mizzy with him everywhere he went. In the summers, he would send Marc to his mother's in LA. And everyone treated him like a tiny adult.
Things got worse when Ariel remarried. After a childhood of being treated like an adult, Katherine’s meddling was unwelcome. All it did was isolate him because he couldn't meet her expectations.
By twelve, Mizzy pretended he was fifteen to hang out with older kids. Things devolved from there. Alcohol turned to drugs. He hid it well from his parents and graduated with good enough grades to get into a decent college. But after his high school graduation, he disappeared for three weeks without a word.
Since then, his life has been a series of moments: in rehab, out of rehab, recovering and relapsing. Each time, it gets harder and harder. And every time, he burns bridges between himself and his loved ones.
Sober
At 29, Mizzy attended a specialist centre that treated the roots of addiction. And while he still struggles with temptation, his fight is nowhere near as hard as it once was.
Since then, Mizzy has published an anthology of short stories, freelances reviews for a prominent magazine and has a three-book deal. He keeps busy and is careful not to form obsessions the way he had in the past.
Romance doesn’t come as easy as it used to but his relationships are far healthier.

Drug rehabilitation center- Why serious drug users must consider visiting these centers?
The drug habilitation aims at stopping the drug use and learning the tools for building a productive life. If you are looking for the habilitation then you can engage the services of drug rehab in San Francisco.
What does entering and completing of treatment program means?
Once in treatment, the challenge is of staying in treatment for breaking free of drugs for getting the life back on track. Keeping this point into consideration we list the necessary advantages of a drug rehab program for the loved one. Before beginning with notable benefits we will talk about the San Francisco drug rehab centers can help patients. The San Francisco Alcohol rehab, for instance, will cater to the needs of Alcohol patients who cannot leave it because of the addiction. The training at the rehab helps in the withdrawal and how it does that will now be highlighted. Below are the reasons why rehab like Alcohol rehab in San Francisco should be the choice if you want your loved one to break the cycle of the drug overuse-
Tumblr media
Rehab helps     in breaking the addictive cycle- People addicted to drugs should reside in     a drug-free environment with individuals who would continuously push them     towards their goal of leaving drugs. The act of drug rehabilitation could     begin along with detoxification that helps the body get rid of the drugs     and can treat the withdrawal symptoms. While everyone needs not to go     through detox but detox alone cannot break the addictive cycle for     long-term.
The drug     addict is informed about addiction- Freedom from drugs can give the     ability to thinking more clearly and can educate the drug addict about the     addiction. When addiction is learned about then the insight is gained into     individuals, events and others.
The centre     helps dig into underlying problems- There could be multiple reasons for     individuals getting addicted to drugs. The rehab helps in gaining an     insight into it thereby helping with the withdrawal faster.
The new     habits and practices can be built- Individuals with a history of drug use     are not disciplined and do not practice self-care habits. At the     rehabilitation centre, the development of these practices happens.
A rehabilitation centre can help the drug addict individual and therefore anyone if is looking to withdraw from the habit or want his/her loved one to withdraw from it then the San Francisco alcohol rehab can help. If you are looking for the best centre you can contact us.

[“In my first book, a memoir of the eighteen years I was addicted to heroin and my inevitable decline through the dregs of society and eventually into crime, I wrote about a lot of very tough and painful times and events from my past. I’m not proud of a great portion of the memories that got me locked up. But in order to really write about them, I had to essentially relive them over again, and in doing so, I was plagued with a ton of remorse and guilt. The process of reexamining the past opened a mental floodgate, and the memories would suddenly appear one after another in Technicolor and Dolby sound, complete with all the anxiety, anger, resentments, and fear that the original events evoked. Some so vivid that I experienced panic attacks, gasping for air, my heart pounding. I would eventually learn from a psychiatrist at the rehab where I finally got clean that having these kinds of “waking dreams” was one of the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.
I was particularly haunted by a friend’s death back in 1994 in San Francisco. I had carried with me for years the idea that I could have somehow saved him if I hadn’t been using drugs, or at least had been present enough to notice he hadn’t been around. My friend’s health had not been good, he didn’t take care of himself, and like me, he used drugs. But the underlying real factor was my friend had died of a brain aneurysm due to a blood clot. And when I actually wrote this memory down, detailing all the facts, I was able to come to an understanding that there was nothing I could have done differently. I am not a doctor. My friend never confided in me how sick he actually was. And even more concretely, I don’t know if I was even in the building at the time of his death.
It wasn’t until I wrote the entire incident down on paper, examining the reality of what had actually happened, that I realized this was just the story I was telling myself. I don’t know why I was telling myself this story—possibly it was my way of coping with the loss of a friend. But really, that doesn’t matter. What is important is that after I did re-evaluate the actual truth, I came to a place of acceptance, and this incident no longer played in my mind’s repertoire of horrific memories.
Consequently, as I continued writing, I was able to revisit a majority of my difficult memories; only now I was able to look at them with a much different perspective. Before I had strong feelings about what had happened, but most of those feelings were either displaced or subject to unreal expectations and resentments—most of which I was placing on myself. Yet every time I actually wrote out a memory, I was able to get a better understanding of the event. A lot of times I was able to work my way through it and eventually put it to rest.”]

What exactly are we trying to solve?
The incuriosity and fuzziness with which people look at the west coast homelessness crisis drives me fucking batty.
Now look, I admit up front that I am also both incurious and wool-headed about this issue, but I work in a fucking restaurant for minimum wage. If you write a book about the fucking homeless crisis or run the city government I expect you to think a little bit harder than the average schmoe on the street, and I think that's reasonable.
One thing that pisses me off about the way people talk about homelessness is that they don't seem to know why it's bad, or what it would look like to solve it. Which I know sounds crazy but hear me out.
Scott Alexander helpfully reviews San Fransicko for me so I don't have to punch any holes in my drywall, but I want... Well, actually I was composing this as I finish Alexander's review, and I got to his utilitarian discussion at the end that cuts to the heart of the matter:
Along with all the problems and preaching, San Fransicko offers solutions. These won’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s read this far: they’re basically the Amsterdam plan presented earlier. Break up open-air drug markets. Force addicts into rehab by threatening prison sentences for noncompliance. Ban camping on streets and force the homeless into shelters. Offer permanent housing when appropriate, but make it contingent on good behavior. Have a strong psychiatric system with ability to commit people who need it, and enforced outpatient treatment when appropriate.
Would these work?
I’m pretty sure they would work well for housed people and the city as a whole. Homeless people would no longer block the streets and assault passers-by; they would be safely out of sight in shelters or in mental institutions. A new generation of tough DAs would crack down on crime. Stores could reopen, and citizens could walk the streets without fear. It’s hard for me to imagine this not working.
...
I have to admit - I talk a good utilitarian talk on this, but I don’t know if I live up to my ideals. An addictionologist interviewed in San Fransicko heaps contempt on well-off liberals who get the benefits of virtue-signaling while externalizing the costs onto poor people in bad areas:
[You] sit in the suburbs and feel smug about the fact that you oppose the war on drugs and have a Black Lives Matter sign in your yard. But you don’t have homeless people taking a crap on your front stoop every day or [have] all your packages stolen every single day
So I imagine - what if I lived in the worst parts of SF, had people crap on my front steps every day, had all my packages stolen, and (by the bounds of this hypothetical) wasn’t allowed to move to the suburbs, ever? I think I would last two weeks before I sacrificed all of my principles on the altar of “less human feces, please”.
Maybe, as a lefty, I'm supposed to read that and gasp and say, "How can you be so heartless?" or maybe I'm supposed to say, "Gosh, when you get right down to it, doesn't the poor guy have a point?"
But instead I'm going to ask:
Do you have any studies showing how effective those policies are at getting rid of human feces?
I'm not being a smart-ass, I'm genuinely wondering how Alexander didn't notice that so much of the criticism he himself quotes in Shellenberger's book has nothing to do with any of that stuff.
This is the particular quote from Shellenberger that caught me up short:
"An experiment with 249 homeless people in San Francisco between 1999 and 2002 found those enrolled in the city’s Housing First program, Direct Access to Housing, used medical services at the same rate as those who were not given housing through the program, suggesting that the Housing First program likely had minimal impact on the participants’ health."
Did it have an impact on how often they took a shit on a public sidewalk? Did it have an impact on the amount of litter they dumped on streets? Did it have an impact on time spent chasing people around and screaming obscenities? Did it have an impact on how often they injected heroine in the subway? Did it have an impact on how many sidewalks they blocked with tents?
All that fucking soul-searching, all that "Gosh, perhaps to solve the problem we simply must be cruel" and this reluctant commitment to reducing the effect of homelessness on tourists and housed locals, and realizing that, gosh, we might have to sacrifice the well-being of homeless people if that's what it takes, an utter commitment to ignoring anything but the reduction of social harm from mass camping...
And the criticism of DAH is that it doesn't improve the health outcomes of the people enrolled in it?!
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?
This kind of goalpost shifting is RIFE within the discussion of west coast homelessness, where opponents of current policies or even speculative ones waffle back and forth about whether or not they give a shit about the health of the homeless or not.
Before all that soul-searching I quoted this is Scott's assessment of Housing First policy:
Conclusion: Housing First seems to work in getting people housing. It probably also helps people use fewer medical services, and it might or might not save money compared to not doing it (probably more likely when treating very severe cases, less likely in areas with high housing costs). It probably doesn’t affect people’s overall health or drug use status very much.
So... Housing first policies probably actually do a pretty damn good job at making the Homeless less obnoxious to tourists and housed people in a number of concrete ways related to litter, camping, public defecation, etc.?
There's good reason to think, pending further research, that they might actually do a pretty good job at reducing some of the problems that, after all that soul-searching, we decided were the only priorities we have?
I'm furious and unhappy at the way Portland is being covered by tent cities, mounds of trash, and grafitti. But I have this utterly baffling conversation with people where they go,
"This camping is shameful, the city should crack down on it!"
"So, get people into stable housing"
"Well, if you get people into stable housing it only puts a band-aid on the problem, they still can have health and behavioral problems that are really important."
And I always go, "Right, but I thought we were trying to reduce camping."
There's this kind of baffling goal-post moving. Alexander has a lot of paragraphs of hand-wringing over whether or not we should accept that sometimes we have to be TOUGH and HARD to really solve these problems, and accept that we may just have to care less about what Homeless people do or want, but he somehow hasn't noticed that he actually has very little data on whether or not Shellenberger's preferred policies work better than what he calls "Housing First" in terms of these metrics.
This is a wild guess and armchair psychologizing, but what seems to be happening is that in cities like San Francisco or Portland, as the problem gets worse, you, as a relatively better-off housed person, start thinking of Homelessness less and less in purely charitable terms with worries about how it effects the homeless, and more and more things like, "I don't like crossing the street because the sidewalk I was going to use is blocked by tents and piles of garbage" and "I don't like how often people chase after me screaming obscenities" and that feels somehow hard and uncompassionate, so you sort of start to assume that the only way to solve these problems is through policies that also feel hard and uncompassionate.
But I'm going to be honest, the case for that strikes me as extremely flimsy and I don't think I've ever seen anybody make it in a very convincing way.

Lenny spots Midge dancing with Gordon Ford at the diner. It makes him way pettier and jealous than he thought it would.
Pairing: Lenny Bruce & Midge Maisel Rated T Warnings: Mentions of Drug Use, Season 5 Spoilers?
He looks through the window, seeing her dancing with Gordon Ford, and his heart clenches tightly in his chest.
He remembers what it was like to hold her in his arms, move in step with her, her hand on his neck as she curled into him. So seeing her dancing with another man makes him insanely jealous.
Not that he has any right to be.
Still, he enters the City Spoon and leans against the counter, "A, You're Adorable" playing on the jukebox. "Mind if I cut in?" He asks.
Gordon looks over Midge's shoulder and grins. "Lenny!" He greets. "I would love to dance with you." He continues the bit by offering his now free hand gallantly.
Midge laughs quietly, half turning to face Lenny and looking more than a little nervous.
And all Lenny wants is to see her laugh for real, so he takes Gordon's hand and pulls him in. They proceed to make a joke out of the whole thing - trying to figure out which one of them is going to lead, and Midge eventually relents, laughing at the ridiculousness of Lenny guiding her boss into a dip.
"What brings you to this part of the neighborhood?" Gordon asks, now back on both feet and straightening his jacket.
"I was taking a walk. Spotted my wife - or possibly sister - dancing with another man, so I came to defend her honor," he jokes.
"My hero," drawls Midge, rolling her eyes teasingly.
"Well," Gordon says, "I have my own wife - definitely not sister - to be getting home to. Lenny, good to see you. Miriam, this guy gives you any trouble...well there's nothing I can really do," he jokes with a wink before heading out, leaving Midge and Lenny together.
He gives her a soft smile. "Dance with me?"
"The music's stopped," she points out. "You wasted the song on my boss over there."
"I'm sure I can scrounge up a nickel or two," he tells her, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a coin. "Got a song request?" He asks.
She looks at him softly. "Something slow," she breathes.
Lenny goes to the jukebox and puts the nickel in, flipping through the records until he finds the perfect song.
He comes back to her as it starts to play, and she takes his hand, gazing up at him as he pulls her close.
"I've missed you," she murmurs.
"Me too," he replies.
"You missed you?"
"Midge," he scolds gently.
She sighs. "Where have you been? I thought I would have run into you at some point in the last few months."
"Went back to Miami for a bit. And then when that got too fun, I went to this darling little facility in San Francisco where they made me sit in a circle and talk about my feelings every single day."
She raises a brow in question. "Rehab," he tells her. "I decided to finally get clean."
"Really?" She asks. "So the bag..."
"It's gone. Hopefully for good."
"Hopefully?" He feels her hand tighten in his, and he rubs his thumb over her knuckles.
"I'm always going to be an addict, Midge," he explains. "But I haven't taken anything harder than aspirin in the last three months, and I don't plan on taking it ever again, but...sometimes I want to."
She breathes deeply. "Then why don't you?"
"Because it turns out I have an awful lot to live for," he answers after a moment. "There's my kid. My career, my adoring fans..." He pulls her hand to his lips, placing a gentle kiss on the back of it. "You," he adds.
She grins softly and lifts her chin, and he meets her in the middle for a tender kiss.
You smile. Oh, and then the spell was cast. And here we are in heaven For you are mine At last.
