I may have just figured out why the neverseen has so many wins under their belt.

Because they are a group of unhinged, psychopaths with murderous tendencies.

You may be wondering how that works. Why would being unhinged help the neverseen to win so much? Because the black swan refuses to see them for what they are. Throughout the series the black swan always revolves their plans around the neverseen being these specifically chosen, strategically inept group of elves. And when the black swan's plans fall through they assume it's because the neverseen is even smarter than they thought. When in all reality the group of them are as dumb as a sack of rocks. The whole of the neverseen shares one braincell, and that braincell used to belong to glimmer. If the black swan were to shift their mental image of the neverseen to something closer to a bunch of adults acting more like teenagers more than the actual teenagers, and form new plans incorporating this much more accurate vision of the neverseen they might actually win some.

The one major win the black swan has that wasn't pure luck was when Sophie finally cracked in unlocked and burned down the store house. The black swan needs to be more unhinged in order to win. This is fact. Because honestly? The neverseen probably have no idea about strategy. They really are just like a group of toddler left alone for too long. There is no strategy. Just,
