I used to play Ragnarok Online pretty heavily, especially on a certain LR pserv which died in a dramatic fire, where I met a number of people I would travel with to another MMO that also took a number of years of my life.  My time with Aptiva, and subsequently, DisposablePuns, were among some of the best memories I have of playing with others.
I’m not big on the mobile MMOs, as they tend to be a lot of auto-pathing and auto-battling, with wonky controls and tiny ass UI on a mobile phone. I tend to try them for thirty minutes and then leave cause I think I’m just not interested in the MMO scene any more, especially the MMO scene as interpreted by mobile gaming.
Still, I gave Ragnarok Origin a shot, since RO tends to be one of those games I’ll play until I reach second job and then quit cause nightmares of grinding for months on end for that 0.01% drop of a hat or a card comes rushing back.  For the record, I did try another RO mobage (can’t recall what it was, but it’s very similar to Origin) and have played RO2 for a bit when it was first released. I also have a couple of games from their handheld releases.  I didn’t like any of them.
It’s fine. It’s like any other mobile MMO: auto pathing, auto battling, terrible controls, and tiny UI.  They definitely nailed the nostalgic look and feel, although mechanics like no offensive healing made me a bit sad (EDIT: apparently the heal description says it can offensive heal? Haven’t figured out how yet or if it’s auto). (I always go TU priest as my main class, although that doesn’t seem like it’d be that great here—if it’s a thing at all—so maybe FS or ME? Not sure if I’d even last that long to reach that point to decide on my build, we’ll see.)
I do wish I was playing on emu or my tablet (no wifi, alas!) cause the screen is tiny with all they want to cram in here.  And the game is definitely p2w; I haven’t seen this many VIP passes since Shining Nikki lol.  No WoE, but there’s PvP.  No, thank you, I have enough pvp salt from Exos Heroes.
The use of the mercenary system does allow you to hire an aco or a swordie at the low levels, so I might end up making a mage since the presence of an NPC aco at least means I don’t have to worry too much about pots or sitting (which isn’t a thing here either RIP) (EDIT: apparently sitting is a tiny ass icon at the bottom of the screen above the word ‘base’ lol; not sure if it speeds up natural regen or not, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t since that’s a RO staple).
Don’t think I’ll stick with it long, but it’s nice for a nostalgic kick and a way for me to avoid working on this birthday comic for rachel lol.
