Tuesday surprises
Went ahead and spent 3+ hours at the gym lifting and riding. Rewarded with Alabama not electing a shitty human to the Senate. I have a lot of penance to do if that is the rate of exchange to get Alabama football #17.

I had a wonderful race today at the Gone Riding SERC # 4 in Fort Yargo State Park in Winder, GA. This is one of my favorite MTB Trails and I was looking forward to racing here for several weeks now. This is the last race before USA Cycling MTB Marathon Nationals, so I knew that I had to make today my last very hard effort before I start tapering back. As usual, I got some strong women line up beside me in the Pro/Cat 1 start, and sure made me WORK. With yesterday's win in the Time Trial, I woke up today feeling very good about what I could accomplish so I put it all out there. 😅 My best got me a 2nd Place to the great Madison McDaniel, who continuously impresses me with her awesome skills. I tell you guys this from the bottom of my heart, Madison can handle a Mountain Bike better than any other woman I have ever seen riding. Riding behind her is truly an honor. Congrats on your win @madisonmcdaniel__ . Huge thanks to @alexbicycles for their continued support, and to Coach @drewedsall for prepping me just right for this weekend. I hope you all had a great weekend, too! Thanks for wishing me luck ✌🏼😘 . . . . #alexbicycles #mtbchick #SERC2017 #ride_bmc #womencyclists #girlswhoshred #bikelove #GAParks #mountainbiking #chasinggoals #chasingpodium #enduranceathlete @alexbicycles @gone_riding_events #fromwhereiride #lifebehindbars

Back in the saddle
I have had a slow 2 weeks of training. Sickness and the asthma I do not have came for a visit. It is not totally gone, but manageable with good drugs (like bacitracin in your nose and albuterol and zyrtec and aleve and nasal steroids and my fav humidifier). Training has resumed with a vengeance. BRING IT DUFOUR. I will conquer training peaks!!!

Peleton bikes
I have a Peleton bike at my office. For those days I can not leave to ride or get to the gym. I am using it a lot right now because apparently people are going to the gym with the flu and sharing their "resolutions" with everyone. So glad I have options. Still not really cleared for cold outside rides, but zone 2 workout tonight did not require an inhaler, so progress. Love the instructors. Platform not so much cuz I cannot load data to training peaks.

Dammit it is cold
Cold and getting colder. I hate cold. I hate riding in the cold. There are not enough clothes to keep me warm when it is freezing. Still do not want to do 3.5 hours on the trainer so outside I go. Dammit. This is better but just can't stand it for too long...

Christmas rest dayish
Last "off" day for nutrition between now and Sea Otter classic. Super easy spin or off the bike after a big weekend. Fun times.

Christmas Eve Ride
Pulled out 4+ on the bike today. Cold and misty the entire ride. Trails at Coldwater drain well so at least my bike is ok. Descending is improving as is my climbing. So much better off than 1 month ago. Here is to more improvements on the horizon.

Cold. This is my pit stop after my final hill climb interval. Adding a wind proof full length jacket. Helped tremendously. View from lookout at Oak Mountain State Park off Peavine Road. Rain had stopped so at least you could see Birmingham in the distance.

Starting a big bike week
So, I think I have 13 hours scheduled on the bike this week. I also have 3 hours of strength training and a bike skills practice. Good thing I get some extra sleep for Christmas... oh wait, I am on call... Dammit.

Coach conference
It is a little weird when you realize you are a grown up orthopedic surgeon and your cycling coach cannot drink yet (legally) but you follow his plans like a drill sargeant, and he traveled more last year to race his bike than you have in your life.

Zone 3 and below ride, or as close as I could get on trails. Had a riding buddy back today who was in need of snacks at the turnaround.
