Costumes

Hypnotic bot (act 1)

A pinkish robot who can hypnotise by her screen. Use this costume to hypnotise your enemies! But, be careful! Their hypnosis wouldn't last long, be alert when they turn against you!

Hypnotic is an upbeat robot, who loves to bring entertainment and comforting others when the mood is down. Always tries to be helpful with her fellow costumes.

Playful Prism (act 1)

This playful costume will bring out the wackiest gag you’ll ever SEEN! Ranging to wracking her paintbrush to drawing an anvil on your enemies’ heads. Don't draw the same old joke as last time, or else your enemies know your tricks!

This artist really knows how to make everyone laugh with her gags. When drawing her art, she would go far and beyond or stay in one place to get the perfect inspiration.

Electrokey (act 1)

This costume will bring you on top of the stage! He’ll blast your enemies by playing his keytar, even destroying your obstacles. But, be careful when you're standing on something fragile.

He may seem to be ruthless but, in reality he’s really down-to-earth and the calmest out of all the costumes. Also he really appreciates the people who love his music.

Thundering sheep (act 2)

Similar to Soaring Sheep, you can fly to any platform you can't reach! Be careful, this one always has an outburst with lightning! Use it against your enemies but, only happens randomly or least expect.

A short tempered sheep, who tried to keep under control with her lightning personality, only to leash out her strong emotions only moments later. However she can be apologetic with her emotions and actions.

Surveillance agent (act 2)

If you wanted to know if the next section of the stage is safe? Plug this costume onto the sockets that are found in the room. It’ll reveal every corner of the section, EVEN showing secret rooms. Make sure your enemies don't notice you're spying on them.

A security camera who's really a protector with Pinkie’s world. He's always watching to alert any danger to his fellow costumes.

Insider (act 2)

This sneaky little costume will hide behind just about anything and leave the enemies a “special” gift, leading to destroying the enemies. But, you need to be quick to place your gift on the stage before they know this costume's appearance.

He may look mysterious and talented, getting information from others. Underneath the surfaces they really mean bringing no harm to others and love to pull pranks and bring gifts to others.

Love Lock (act 3)

A loveable costume who always loves to be in pairs! Wear this costume to take another costume into becoming your unbreakable duo, defeating your enemies and breaking any obstacles. However, even with an unbreakable bond… It won't last long, remember to spend your time carefully.

This lock really loves to spend time with other costumes and always tries to be their greatest best friends! She's also really clingy and rarely alone by herself.

I'm still pondering my nega's battle but, the Costumes counterparts; Hypnotic bot, Thundering Sheep, Surveillance Agent and Insider.

Her name is Queen, Circuit Prima Unity. But, I'm considering changing her name since it doesn't fit right. It's based on CPU.

Why is twitter so obsessed with goldenduo, but specifically the fic dynamic goldenduo that isn't present in canon? Like it's more prevalent than beeduo in fics now. What is happening?

there are a few reasons i can see that could've caused this. most probably overlap, and they're all just theories/obversations, but here's my two cents about it

there's an "imbalance" in benchtrio

as popularity in beeduo rose, tommy was left out more and more of the dynamic. benchtrio still was popular, but as was seen in lore streams, he felt left out due to how close beeduo grew while he was dead/gone. to balance that out and give him his own duo outside of those two, purpled was thrust forward. eryn wasn't on the server at the time (the benchtrio conflict around tommy's revival happened in around march of 2021, while eryn joined in october), so there wasn't anyone else "his age" to pair him off with. (i say "his age" in quotations because jack manifold is only two years older than tommy, however, there was the whole "trying to kill tommy" thing, so he was out of the question for these people.)

goldenduo became kind of the parallel for beeduo in these instances. there wasn't someone they could have the beeduo dynamic mirrored in with tommy, as clingy and allium have different dynamic styles, so they were forced to make their own. purpled, being young and his content creator being friendly with tommy in the past, just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. which leads me into the next point:

2. these people do not care for purpled's actual character/do not know his character

there are two sections the people who write goldenduo like that fall into. either a. "i don't know cpurpled lore, so i'll just mold him to fit whatever i want him to be" or b. "cpurpled is a villain and irredeemable, so i shall rewrite him into being palatable and friendly instead, since i do not like his canon self". there's a third category, technically, of "i do not actually understand cpurpled/cpurpled's lore on a thematical and analytical sense and just see what i want to see", but in my opinion, that's just another way to phrase group a.

people in group a are typically those that strongly push for the "manipulated minors" dynamic. they know purpled had his ufo blown up, and see him as having been "manipulated" by quackity into joining las nevadas, but know very little else about him. they write his personality not by c or cc, but by the echo chamber they've created for themselves based on the other three teens in the manipulated minors/cmyk dynamic. they draw from what they want a traumatized kid to be: scared, paranoid, touch-starved, etc. which is something i've talked about before; "palatable" trauma responses vs "problematic/unwanted" trauma responses, in which benchtrio are seen as good and right for largely being the "good" kind traumatized who don't lash out in anger/hold "bad" emotions, while purpled is the "bad" kind who does. he's a blank slate for them, and as said above, with beeduo already being paired off, they need someone else for him to be a duo with. enter ctommy.

people in group b are largely the same. they're just much more aware of how cpurpled acts in canon, instead of just pretending he's never like that. they just do what they want with him because he's not a "good" character (in the moral sense, not writing sense) and we can't have moral grayness, so he gets rewritten completely to be that "good". and if he's not, it's about tommy "rescuing" him and showing him how to be that "good" again, as if purpled ever was that in the first place.

3. twitter thinks beeduo fell apart/goldenduo have been interacting again

look. i don't know the beeduo "drama". it's not my business and as long as they're both still happy and okay, i could not care less. but there was the whole thing a while back with tubbo and ranboo where people thought they were no longer friends, to the point where ranboo had to ask people not to say he hates his friend, but even after that, twitter still kind of thinks they're dead. it's stupid and invasive, but it led to a decline in beeduo content, both c and cc-inspired.

on the other hand, goldenduo have had more interaction with each other than they have in like, at least a year. most of it is due to mcc, with them putting each other down for teams and overall speaking highly of each other as players, so there's traction for them once more. because of that (along with other aspects such as vol2 on the horizon opening up new opportunities for character interactions) there's been a skyrocket in goldenduo works.

Would they all be up for polyamory or would some tell their bro to get over it, or they break up with SO as to push them toward their brother. This information is important for my daydreaming

Well, the short version of these questions seems to be– “Can I make it work if I want to smooch both brothers?”

And the answer to that question as far as I’m concerned is yes! Ultimately, all skeles would be down for this kind of relationship!

…But some of them are going to have an easier road than others.

Yes, it’s the ‘fells that are on the Struggle Bus, of course it is, those boys have issues.

Undertale:

They’re a great combo!

They already know each other so well and love/respect one another that looping you into their relationship as a romantic branch is the easiest thing in the world.

They both balance the other out really well, to the point that dating them both might even make for a more harmonious relationship than choosing just one: Papyrus won’t shy away from lecturing Sans when his laziness may be letting you down, and Sans knows how to gently point out when Papyrus might be unintentionally talking over you or pushing too hard at something.

There’s no jealousy between them and you’re all grown, mature adults more than capable of navigating a three-person relationship.

Another great choice!

Much like the classic Sans-Papyrus pair, the Sky-Paps match-up isn’t just functional, it’s hyper-functional.

Their brotherly relationship is strong and they’re great at meeting and handling situations as a team, and you’re no different. Most of your time with them will be spent as a trio rather than duos with an odd man out since that’s what they do anyway– you’re just along for the ride! When one-on-one time does come around, they’ll pass you off to the other without hesitation, no jealousy to be found and just a nuzzle on your cheek and an encouragement to have fun.

Even the usually clingy Sky doesn’t mind giving you and Paps space when you want it since there’s no one he trusts and loves more than his (big) little brother, and Paps might actually feel a little more driven to impress and woo you when he sees the lengths Sky regularly goes to. Maybe he can’t one-up his big brother’s efforts, but it reminds him that you’re special and deserving of the attention and he’ll show you so in his own, more understated way.

They balance each other out in so many ways that it won’t ever feel like you’re trying to juggle them to make things work. As long as you love them, they’ll love you right back and your relationship is practically self-sustaining!

Underfell:

You must not be shy of challenges, because you’ve gotten yourself into some rocky waters with this one.

They’ll both agree to this pretty quickly without much fuss– sharing a datemate with their brother, the only person who always had their back underground and would die for them, and vice versa? Of course, there’s no one they’d rather trust you with than their own brother!

They say that, and for the most part they do mean it, but… there are some very well-buried landmines here and you will find at least one of them in the course of this relationship.

For Jasper, it’s bitterness: here’s yet another thing in his life that he’s giving up for his brother’s sake. It’s not Pyre he resents but the situation and how exceedingly unfair the circumstances of his life have been so far. He lost his childhood to raising and protecting Pyre while he was young, and then he had to play his toady and listen to barked orders and snapped insults so Pyre could maintain a fearsome reputation and neither of them would get too severely messed with. And then now here’s this, a datemate he can’t even keep all to himself because you love his baby brother, too. It stings, but he’ll try to quash it down since he loves you and Pyre too deeply to ever want to cause problems for you.

Meanwhile Pyre is masking his own issues, namely jealous insecurity. He loves Jasper, too, and he deeply respects the sacrifices his big brother made for him Underground both in adolescence and adulthood, but…well, it’s not as if he had it easy! Jasper’s initially low HP meant that no matter how strong a fighter he was, there’d always be somebody who saw him as easy EXP, somebody trying to kill them both because they could– that was why he worked his way up to Captain of the Royal Guard and trained so hard to become an efficient, deadly soldier, so that he could be intimidating enough that most monsters wouldn’t even want to try attacking him or somebody under his command. That’s why he had to distance himself from everyone else, even the brother he was trying to protect, just in case someone tried to take advantage of a social connection. He was completely emotionally isolated for a long time, with a lot weighing on his shoulders: his duties, his brother’s safety, his own safety, and Jasper…

Jasper didn’t have to shoulder any of that once Pyre took responsibility.

Pyre knows, intellectually, that Jasper suffered at least as bad for a long time, but emotionally it hurt and made Pyre a little angry to see him socializing freely with the lowlifes at Grillby’s and sleeping openly at his illegal hot-dog stands. Jasper couldn’t have been totally carefree, no one could be underground, but he had the luxury of being very close to it thanks to Pyre’s status, which Pyre maintained at his own expense. And now, it feels like Jasper is taking advantage of him again, casually charming his way into your good graces and seducing you away from him.

He’s fairly certain he’s going to lose you, actually, since he knows that his older brother is the more personable of the two of them and he hates the waiting, he kinda wants to just end it himself and let Jasper have you…

But, same as Jasper, Pyre loves both of you dearly and he knows that abruptly breaking up with you would hurt you, and that Jasper would figure out why he did it and be even more hurt plus guilty over it, so he bites his tongue.

They’re both going to stew in silence over it and are fully committed to doing so for the rest of your natural lives– you’re going to have to mediate this if you want to have any hope of a healthy relationship.

It won’t be too hard to figure out what’s going on with them individually, they’re both very salty skeletons that can mostly keep quiet about the things bugging them, but there’s a lot of snide and bitter quips muttered under their breath that you’re usually close enough to hear and draw conclusions from. At that point, you need to sit down with them and force a discussion; play whatever hard-ball you must to get them to talk, this is too important to sweep under the rug just because it’s awkward and painful.

They’ll be stilted at first and need a lot of prodding to keep going, embarrassed that their datemate is playing counselor for them, but soon enough they’ll start talking on their own. Yelling on their own. Screaming at each other and breaking shit on their own.

They’ve been repressing a lot of emotions for a long time and now that they’re flowing it’s like a tsunami, one you should probably get out of the splash zone of while they get it all out.

You don’t have to worry about them actually hurting each other, there’s far too much love between them for that and once the anger and bitterness is out there in the open, they realize that, too. There’s gonna be tears and broken sobs and fierce hugging and that’s your cue to get back on in there and take care of your boys– they love each other, they love you, and you love them right back, it doesn’t have to be any more complicated than that.

Once the dust is settled, you’re theirs for life, no take-backs. You came into their home, showed them love and affection, and helped them get their brother back after years of tension and walking on eggshells: if you think they’re ever going to let you go now, you’re dead-wrong.

There’s going to be days when you almost regret emotionally reconciling them because when they’re not bickering over petty nonsense or competing with each other, they are the most terrifyingly efficient team you’ve ever seen. They’ll casually join forces against you whenever it suits them and you don’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell. They love and respect you of course, they’d never hurt or take advantage of you, but the combined force of Jasper’s rough charm and Pyre’s slick cunning means that you’re not often going to find yourself ‘winning’ in your relationship.

On the bright side, your romantic life is positively scorching between these two fiery personalities and the loving passion they have for you is more than enough of a balm on any wounds you might take to your pride. ;3

Swapfell:

Deceptively easy.

At first, they’re both very excited and on-board for this. As far as they’re concerned, there’s no one better in the world to share their datemate with than their own brother, someone trustworthy that they love unconditionally and don’t have to worry about losing you to, since they obviously wouldn’t try to steal you from each other.

And that’s true, because if there’s a problem it won’t be something they did, it’ll be what you did. Or maybe more accurately, what you didn’t do.

There’s really only one way to screw this up, but it’s a hard and fast death sentence for the relationship if you start neglecting Rus or playing favorites with Mal instead.

Rus is a needy guy, not too prone to jealousy but very prone to insecurity when the conditions are right, and Mal is one of the hardest (albeit unintentional) hitter of those buttons. His big brother, the one who’s taken care of him his whole life, protected him and sacrificed for him, Rus thinks Mal is a really cool guy. He’s not surprised at all that you want to date him, but he is surprised that you want to date Mal’s living disaster of a brother, too.

If you’re not careful and spend too much time with Mal or side with him all the time or do anything that could indicate you have a significant preference for one brother over the other, Rus is probably gonna jump to some conclusions and now it makes sense to him why you’re not just dating his brother– it’s ‘cause it’s a pity thing…isn’t it?

Mal is the one you really want  but you or Mal or maybe both of you noticed his pathetic interest in you and decided to toss him a bone. To make him feel better. Yaaaay.

His aversion to conflict means that he’s definitely never going to say anything to either of you, ever, but his 'realization’ (whether it’s true or not, almost certainly not) is painful and he won’t be able to help sulking and shying away from your affection for awhile.

That, for Mal, is as good as an actual, physical red flag. He’s sharp and knows his brother well enough to piece together everything that’s happened in Rus’ self-deprecating skull and as far as he’s concerned, there’s only one course of action from here: he’s gonna try to wriggle himself out of the relationship entirely and push you towards Rus.

Mal loves his baby brother fiercely and since he already blames his failings as a pseudo-parent for the anxiety and insecurity he struggles with, the absolute last thing he wants to do is hurt him by taking his datemate away. It’s a no-brainer to remove himself from the situation if he’s distracting you from Rus, but once it’s progressed to this point, there’s no positive outcome for anyone.

Rus is now convinced he’s the pity-boyfriend and feels awful that you don’t get to be with Mal anymore because he couldn’t hide his dumb feelings better. Mal is upset that he can’t be with you, and a little upset with you for not loving his little brother enough to begin with and making this choice necessary. And of course, you’re gonna be hurting, too, because one of your boyfriends thinks he’s your consolation prize and the other isn’t even your boyfriend anymore.

But of course, that’s the Worst Case Scenario.

To make this work, you just need to be fair about sharing your time and affection, which in healthy polyamory, you should probably already be doing! But if for some reason, you can’t do that, skew slightly in Rus’ favor. Mal can be jealous and selfish but he’s more than willing to make room for his brother’s happiness, and he knows that he’s welcome to edge into yours and Rus’ time together if he really wants– Rus has no problems sharing, he just gets a little upset if he thinks he’s the second choice.

If you put in the time and effort to assure Rus that you’re dating him because you care about him, this actually becomes one of the easiest bro-combos possible. Mal and Rus have a less contentious relationship than the other ‘fell brothers and with less buried anger and bitterness between them their bond is already strong and relatively healthy when you enter the mix.

Your integration is like finding the perfect centerpiece to tie an already-stylish room together. Mal plans all the dates and budgets your time between them in the most efficient way possible, while Rus makes sure you and him still get some time to relax and screw around at home. They work very well together as brothers and as your co-boyfriends with about equal importance placed on each role, so you’ll feel nothing but cherished and wanted between the two of them. Make sure to return the favor!

Yes, a fantastic idea!

They’re both delighted that you asked and agree to share you pretty much immediately, without even a little fuss.

Slate and Papy are arguably the most codependent of the brothers (understandably, considering their shared trauma of the famine) and they’re also probably the most emotionally open with one another as a result, so if a poly relationship seems like it’s becoming a possibility with you, they’re going to get everything talked out and openly agreed upon for a very smooth transition.

It’s actually…kind of an ideal situation for both of them, in a way? Their issues and insecurities are…well, there’s a good deal of them and they’re both a tad concerned that the weight of it might be too much for you alone. They don’t want to overwhelm you or put too much pressure on you just because they’re a little… ‘broken’ is the wrong word for it, but they’re far from undamaged, either!

But with the other brother in the mix, the same one who’s always been there to support his sibling even before you came along, so much of that pressure is taken off.

Slate doesn’t worry that you’re going to suffer from his dissociation and memory problems because he knows Papy is there with his sharp mind and attention to detail to pick up the slack. Likewise, Papy doesn’t worry quite so much on his bad days that you’re secretly unhappy or would be better off without him because Slate is around, who even with a hole in his skull is naturally charming and very skilled at reading people– if you had any complaints, Slate would know and pass them along so they could make you as content as possible!

The end result is that they both relax and don’t psych themselves out quite as much as they might without their brother, and you get to see them as close to their old, pre-horror selves as they can get. Papy is a little more confident and Slate jokes around more and they both treat you like you make the sun rise every morning because you’re the one that loves them both enough to let this relationship be a thing they can have and that’s so cool.

There’s not a drop of jealousy over you from either of them, especially when they can see first-hand that you’re making their brother as happy as you make them, so this is a pretty harmonious and loving match-up, with a lot of potential for success!

[神なる君と] Spirit duo - Rei

なんかちょっとラス���スパートな感じですけど…

Rei is the friendly spirit that Sakuya and co. met when they were investigating rumours about hauntings in the old school building. He’s arguably the most ‘mysterious’ character, since nothing is known about his former life, and I was super curious what his deal is. Not to mention he’s the final obstacle standing between me and Mikoto!! Ψ(￣∀￣)Ψケケケ

Truth be told he’s not really my type, though - since I’m not 15 anymore. I mean he’s a ghost but looks more like a forest elf / Mori Boy circa. 2001, and his voice sounds like it’s breaking. Compared to the other characters also he has a personality (or lack thereof) that is blander than konnyaku. In fact I found myself opening all the Yuzuru options in his common route first before going back and redoing them for Rei, because senpai saranghae I only wanna be wit u <3... 

Aaanyway.

-Mizuniwa Rei-

Rei-kun’s common route was actually quite revealing and interesting - in two of his ema, Mikoto actually asked to tag along, so it seemed like there might be some important information there idk. 

In his second ema, Mikoto tells Sakuya that she has the power to push people who are on the brink between Life and Death into one world or another, depending on what kind of guidance she gives.

Which in retrospect seemed like heavy foreshadowing for what’s about to come.

Fuu-san’s backstory was also revealed here:

Around 10 years ago, Fuu-san and his bff, a boy named Kawashina Yuuya, were students at Mikagurayama High School. One day they found a hidden basement storage room in the old school building, and turned it into their hang-out spot.

The basement used to be a bomb shelter, and had some books left over on occult spells and curses, that were used during the war to protect the townspeople. Fuu-san found a book with a spell to summon the powers of the Great Demon, and wanted to try it out of fun/boredom, but Yuuya was against it.

So Fuu-san did it by himself anyway. He got the sealed cursed box from the magical cave and took it back to the basement to perform the spell. Halfway through he passed out... and when he came to, he realised that Yuuya saved him by transferring the spell onto himself. 

Yuuya never woke up again, despite a lot of medical attention and whatnot. After half a year, Fuu-san decided to quit school and skip town to learn exorcism so that he can save his friend. But when he finally returned a few years later, Yuuya had already died...

Fuu-san lived with guilt all these years and thought that Yuuya died hating him. But when he went down to the basement with Sakuya to liberate his spirit, Yuuya’s spirit communicated through Sakuya that he doesn’t ever regret saving Fuu-san, and he hopes Fuu-san can stop blaming himself and go forward in life, smiling... By this point I was pretty much crying like a baby... ｡･ﾟ･(ﾉД｀)･ﾟ･｡

Oh how I wish there was a Su-sa-no-o in my neighbourhood, with a sexy store-owner like Fuu-san... 

But we’re not here to court Fuu-san (I wish we could, mang. I wish we could), so let’s get back to Rei. In his route Sakuya tries to help him to find out about his family and his past. She asks Aki for help ofc, and Aki reports back that she couldn’t find anyone matching Rei’s description in the database of deaths, nor the missing persons list...

And the mystery deepens dun-dun-DUN. This would’ve made for an interesting story development,... except the writers totally abandon it and instead opt for Rei and Sakuya frolicking around in the forest, true to his Mori Boy style (wholesomely tho, since they are both underage XD). Then Rei realises that he’s not long for this world, and he tries to put some distance between them - but Sakuya eventually convinces him that they should spend his last remaining time on earth together and make lots of beautiful (wholesome) memories.

There were a lot of group events in his route, which was nice since I got to see Yuzuru-senpai mucho. (Although he’s not an option here obvsly T_T)

You know I will happily choke on a fish bone for you, senpai <3.

So hoshimatsuri night, Rei undergoes the ceremony to pass into the other world. Sakuya stays home, because she’s not strong enough to go and say goodbye to him. Is this like deja vu from the Yorihito/Nisei story arc or what?? ...After that, Sakuya goes to the old school building one day after school, and finds a note from Rei. SURPRISE - he’s still here.

...

It turns out that Sakuya’s, uhh, clinginess is keeping him from successfully departing. At this rate he’s going to grow weaker and weaker and become trapped in the interstitial space between two worlds - forever. They keep communicating through notes, and through voice chatting over radio, while Sakuya grows enough balls to finally let him go.

Eventually she does. Because let’s face it - Otomate can’t afford to pay their seiyuu to carry on a story for like two gajillion chapters.

In his final moment of departure, he appears to Sakuya in a dream, but they can’t hear each other’s voice. Just as Sakuya is freaking out, he pulls her in and kisses her, then disappears into the ether. (*ฅ́˘ฅ̀*)♡

...I guess Yuzuru and Rei’s routes don’t work the same way as Narumi and Yakumo’s, bc you don’t get the alternative ending by choosing the ‘wrong’ option for the last couple of choices. I wasn’t strong enough for senpai’s bad end, but I was actually pretty curious about Rei’s, although all the same I wasn’t able to unlock it. Either way I hope he didn’t get stuck in between worlds forever, poor kid has been through enough.

1. Good end: Fast forward 10 years, Sakuya becomes a teacher at Mikagurayama High School, just as Rei had hoped. She still goes to the garden every day to take care of Rei’s flowers. The old school building is about to be torn down because it’s too old and might be a safety hazard. She’s on her way there one last time... when she gets a call from Aki, who finally found out what happened with Rei’s past-life investigation 10 years ago. Unfortunately Aki trips on something and the line cuts off before we get to hear it. _(:3」∠)_

So Sakuya is there happily watering her flowers, when guess who appears - ahem *Rei*, now all grown up. He tells her that this time he’s not a spirit anymore... and the scene just ends there. I’ve seen a lot of abrupt endings but this has gotta take the cake. Although I’ll admit adult Rei is kinda sorta smoking hot, so less talk more making out!

[Thoughts] What can I say? This route really didn’t explain as much as I thought it would, although there were some good bits. For one, the Fuu-san backstory really got to me. Fuu-san was always the side character that I was most curious about, since he seems kind of... shady, and like he might’ve had a colourful past. His arc really delivered, and it’s my favourite out of all the four side stories, although I loved them all in their own way.

I was expecting to find out about Rei’s past here, but I guess the writers are saving it for Mikoto’s route / wrap-up, which almost certainly means there’s going to be a surprise revelation. So I am looking forward to that and I hope they don’t fuck it up.

The route itself actually felt like it was mostly stuff that belongs in a fandisk, rather than an individual character route. All the group hangouts, and scenarios that reveal idiosyncrasies about the other characters (e.g. everyone’s drawings in the Fuu-san arc. I finally got to see Yuzuru-senpai’s kawaii creations! :3).

As expected, Rei failed to give me any doki-doki feels... except at the end, where we saw grown-up Rei and got to hear Iguchi Yuuichi’s normal voice for like 2 seconds. (I wish this game had a fandisk bc I *definitely* need more of that!!) From the other character routes I got the sense that he’s an iyashi-kei type of guy, and he’s probably the most consistent out of all of them, because he continues being selfless and caring about Sakuya before himself throughout - e.g. helping her to find her future path despite not having one himself. 

Still I gotta admit, when he confessed that he liked Sakuya, I did a silent fist-pump in the air, because FINALLY here’s a guy who said it first. I’m so tired of always having to make the first move >;(

Also the thing that Narumi said really touched me here: that Rei would rather choose a lonely existence as a spirit trapped between two worlds for the rest of eternity, than force Sakuya to let him go. Even when he was weakening, he never said anything to Sakuya. In a way he was perhaps the most adult-like one out of all of them. Admittedly I didn’t like Sakuya very much in this route. She seemed very self-absorbed and immature, refusing to face the truth. But eventually Narumi kind of slapped some sense into her (figuratively ofc, I mean Narumi would never actually slap her XD) and she did choose to do the right thing.

...I guess Narumi is determined to be the guy that has a crush on her and ‘saves her’ one way or another in every route. Kudos to him but he’s still only, like, my third or fourth favourite lols.

Lastly, I felt that this route was actually the most poetic + metaphorical one so far. (Maybe the other ones were, too, and I just wasn’t paying attention?) ...The metaphor of flowers bearing seeds that blossom into new flowers, bearing witness to their relationship and carrying on their legacy. When they first met the flowers were newly planted, and when they said goodbye they were just about to wither. 

Also Sakuya and Rei always met after class at sunset, the time between day and night - like the space between Life and Death. Idk mang but that’s, like, really beautiful or sumshit.

But this is the most poetic thing of them all~!

B) What inspired you to create them?Almost the entire cast of Novel1 was originally based off of characters I had before I started the novel. These are their stories (dun dun):Lyn: MYXA, THE TEMPORARY NO. 13 OF ORGANIZATION XIII. Or rather, her Somebody.Basically, she started out based off a sort-of-self-insert OC from my days in the Kingdom Hearts Organization XIII fandom who never really had much of a personality and existed just to fulfill my dream of dating Dilan/Xaldin (while adhering to canon as much as possible). Lyn has grown from that shallow beginning, of course, and is ironically now probably one of the least-like-me characters I have. I think I really took a comment my friend made like 6 years ago about how “Lyn is basically you” to heart lol.Ceron: DILAN, THE SOMEBODY OF XALDIN, NO. 3 OF ORGANIZATION XIII.He started out based off of my version of Dilan from those same days in that fandom. He’s a lot less changed and a lot more just… deepened and become more human over the past 8 or 9 years. I had a pretty good thing going with that character lol even if it wasn’t true to canon.Rhett: FACELESS SOLDIER MAN BECOMES YOUNG BOY WITH TRAGIC BACKSTORYHis character was originally some random soldier guy who’d lost his arm in a skirmish thing. Then one day my friend was trying to draw Aniello but the face came out looking really young so I added some cute dimples and BAM SUDDENLY ANIELLO HAD A SON WHO HE ABANDONED AND THEN SERENA ADOPTED HIM AND NOW HE’S A RAY OF SUNSHINE FIGHTING BACK AN INTERNAL HURRICANE OF RAGE?? I kept the missing arm, but made the story behind it a lot sadder. And the whole story of his life sadder. I’m sorry, Rhett.Serena: CRAZY SEDUCTRESS HORSE OC GOES MAD BECAUSE HER TRUE LOVE REJECTED HER, HATES LITERALLY EVERYONEShe was based off of an OC I had back in my roleplaying days who was… a terrible person (horse). Really terrible. I think her backstory translated to pre-Shadow-Aniello breaking up with her, so she just decided everyone sucks, time to be chaotic neutral, screw everyone over for the fun of it, mentally torture innocent people sometimes?? I don’t even know. She had problems. What inspired me to gradually get her to where she is now as the bamf hbic mama bear I love is that I hated her and she was horribly unrealistic. Plus Rhett deserved at least one good mom.Aniello: NIGHTMARE THE TERRIFYING FRIESIAN HORSE WARLORDAgain, from my roleplaying days. Really the only thing that stayed the same is he’s terrifying and doesn’t like to use contractions. I didn’t even keep the scottish accent. I did keep the nickname “Nightmare” for a while to differentiate from pre-Shadow-Aniello and post-Shadow-Aniello but then pre-Shadow-Aniello stopped being a lovely innocent young man who never did any wrong and I stopped needing to keep that distinction. I mean really I just wanted to make a villain that combined everything I love about villains, (sense of decorum, high intelligence, wit, raw power, an explosive temper), with characteristics I despise (greed, a crazy sense of entitlement, complete disregard for people and their feelings, etc), who had NO SAD BACKSTORY WHATSEOVER. And I think I did a pretty darn good job with him, too.Marius: MIKHAIL THE WEIRD, UNDEVELOPED BROTHER OF NIGHTMAREI don’t even know.I guess what really inspired me to make Marius as he is now is my undying love for Villainous Brother Duos, particularly when there is actual love/concern between the brothers (in this case it’s one-sided but it still makes my heart hurt happily). Marius’ story has always been about caring way too much about his little brother, but only recently I decided that he’s actually on Aniello’s side rather than constantly beating himself up over Aniello’s (supposed) death.MSS: The music video for Skrillex’ “First of the Year (Equinox)”. Not even joking. He developed into the adorable friend-shaped-friend he is now because I wanted to write a story without all the creepiness and drama I poured into Novel1.

E) Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?((Oh this question is SO FUN TO THINK ABOUT.))Lyn: Probably yes in both cases! Lyn is pretty easy to get along with, loves making friends, and likes to think the best of people when not presented with tons of negative evidence. She can be emotional, but she’s very friendly and sweet and I think I’d love to be friends with her.Ceron: Yes, and yes! We can chill out and read or talk about deep things. Ceron isn’t someone who opens up easily or quickly, but he’s chill and casually friendly as long as he’s not in a group situation. He’s… he’s basically me. I think we’d get along.Rhett: HECK YES MY BOI. Rhett is a ray of sunshine who wants to be friends with EVERYONE provided they’re not complete assholes and I fit that criteria at least. He might be a bit high energy for me to hang out with a lot (assuming I just met him as a person not as his creator), but he’d probably be super fun to have as a friend.Serena: UMM. MAYBE. Honestly I think just meeting her I’d be super intimidated (her ‘air’ is loosely based off all the strong ladies I’ve met and been intimidated by in my life bahahah). But if we had a chance to hang out I think we’d get along! We might not be Close Friends but she’d be good to go to for advice and stuff.Aniello: Nope. I mean he’d get along with me just fine but there’s no friendship from either side. He’s never been big on friendship in general? Just… things that will help him rise higher and get him what he wants.Marius: HmmMMMmmm he’s a big scary quiet dude but he’s got some surprises about him. If it was some AU where he wasn’t caught up in Aniello’s schemes, I’d like to hang out with Marius on a nature walk or something. He’d probably own a bunch of random unusual pets that he rescued. Nothing too clingy or dependent, just like… crows, squirrels, deer, and probably some semi-domesticated cats that all visit him and hang around his log cabin deep in the woods. Deep down he kinda just wants to be that curmudgeonly guy in the woods you’re slightly scared of but who turns out to be kinda cool and teaches everyone about respecting nature.Man.Why you gotta love your little brother, Marius. He ruins everything, including you.MSS: Absolutely! He loves to make friends and he’s super chill about everything. He doesn’t stick around very long, usually, but we’d get along while he was there.BONUS ROUND: Tyrus and Virgil: NOPE. These guys are assholes lmao I’d hate them as real-life people (and they wouldn’t look twice at me). They generally don’t care about most people in the world, and they’re basically those gross, drunk, objectifying creeps who sleazy-bar-hop to pick up chicks/dudes (with consent; they at least care about that) every dang night and occasionally get in bar fights (which is why they become bouncers so they can fight people on the job). Virgil is worse than Tyrus, who would be capable of a relationship if something Real came his way. I love them as their author but man they’re.. not great human beings bahahahah
