the thing with the light fury is that she could’ve just been… an albino night fury.

sure, then toothless wouldn’t be ‘the last of his kind’, but… did anyone want him to be? other than the filmmakers? my impression has always been that people were excited about seeing more night furies. the quest to find another was repeatedly foreshadowed in the the first two films and the shows.

toothless’ mate being an albino night fury would’ve provided for the contrasting scale colors (just as the light fury did), making her distinct and unique, while leaving the possibility for other dark-scaled furies. perhaps she introduces toothless to her night fury colony that’s been hiding (say, in a ‘hidden world’) for many, many years.

i don’t feel that toothless needs to be visually unique. his bond with hiccup is what makes him special. and regardless, he would be notorious among his species for having survived years and years of dragon hunters if the rest of them truly went into hiding underground.

i (avid httydthw hater) really like the idea of teen zephyr (being the age her dad was when he first bonded with a dragon), then having learned everything that transpired leading to the dragons being sent away, growing to absolutely despise that decision and make it her life mission to bring them back

(she love loves her father, but thinks that was absolute bullshit… you can cite any anti-httyd3 reasoning for why she believes so)

perhaps a strong take, but no other poster in the franchise compares at all. the HTTYD1 poster clearly parallels forbidden friendship, a scene at the heart of the film which embodies its entire theme. it’s not overly complicated, not jam-packed full of every character in the movie. just hiccup and toothless–all that there needs to be.
