Restarting a draft 30 times because I know the opinion will be so unwanted 🤣.

It's funny cause I don't even go to the potluck Im trying to talk about. It's basically a piece about how Sera is very similar to Fenris and the way people respond to the characters says a lot about how people will forgive faults in men that they won't in women. And like. I don't love either of them. I understand where they both are coming from. I really like certain elements that they have going on. I do get emotional for them. But they both can be very hateful, and that does put me off a bit. It's hard to say "oh, my hawke/inky is friends with them despite this" because irl if someone spoke to you like that repeatedly it's hard to stick around to hear the tragic backstory and unpack why. You usually get defensive and keep the person at arms length. At best.

But they do have reasons for being the way they are, and there ARE lovable sides of them. Sera and Blackwall is actually one of my fav companion duos to bring around.

It just drives me a little crazy as someone who is outside of the Anders vs Fenris romance war, and who likes Sera but also think she has stuff she should be held accountable to- to see people bend over backwards explaining how Fenris's behavior is justified because of his trauma and then NOT bring that same energy to Sera's defense. Because the delivery may be different, but Fenris says just as many lines that are hard to hear due to how hateful they are. I find some of the things he says to be difficult to defend even with his background. Most of the time, the problem with Sera isn't even her message- it's her delivery.

It's just. Ugh.

How would Solas and Blackwall (pre-romance or romanced) react to the inquisitor revealing that she figured out their secret on her own by just casually calling them Fen'Harel/Tom while the two are alone together. She then goes on to say that her feelings for them haven't changed, she doesn't plan on telling anyone even if things don't work out between them, and she will be willing to talk about it whenever/if ever they're ready.

Blackwall: There are tears. There is guilt and sorrow and remorse, and between them in the privacy of the barn much is shared. Blackwall. Thom, has lived with the burden of the secret for so long that to let it go now is akin to draining a wound.

The pain is real, and it dives deep. But once the lancing is done he is better for it. Stronger for it. And for this remarkable woman who has looked into the hell that is his life and his sins and not found him wanting there is a devotion that shall never waver. He loves this woman deeply, does her would be warden, and nothing can now stand between them.

Solas: She would not be able to finish the name before his magic smote her. It does not matter who benign the inquisitors intentions might be, she will not leave his study with the memories intact. And Solas's plans will be drastically increased.

If he feels guilt for it. for the violation of his ven'han's mind and soul, it must simply be another guilt to carry into the glorious future. He has lost too much to fail now.

Playing DA:I and I let Solas remove my inquisitor’s vallaslin (yes I’m a simp for the Dread Wolf, fingers crossed he only gets worse in the new game)

Does the game/Solas notice if I go to the Black Emporium and slap the vallaslin right back on??? Ultimate fuck you but also I don’t want consequences.

Also kind of disappointed that if you do let Solas remove it, no one at Skyhold comments....like a whole Dalish just disappeared their tattoos and no says anything

Hello! I'm curious what kind of person is ideal for Blackwall? Personality-wise?

There is a dichotomy to Blackwall that makes the perfect romantic partner difficult to define. On the one hand he is a soldier, a traditionalist, and a man who believes in the salt of the earth results of honest hard work. Someone more traditional would fit that bill, who would be comfortable with the more traditional life that a man like Blackwall might crave.

But Thom Rainier is a broken wreck of a man, and needs a woman strong and independent enough to build the road both of them will walk down. Someone unfazed by whatever challenges or tasks face them and damn the consequences.

At the end of the day, Blackwall needs what in truth we all do: someone who will love him for all that he is, and not shirk away in the hard times.
