Need-to-Knows (a.k.a How I'm meddling with canon):

This fic will involve Rafal being resurrected, and lead up to an alternate continuity of plot events, all set during One True King. Thus, its title will be: The One True School Master of Vault 41. However, the title may or may not be a bit of a misnomer, so I might just end up subverting your expectations after all.

There will be a form of "psyche travel," or an approximation of time travel, using Dovey's crystal ball like in ACOT, the arson of a certain Wizard Tree to look forward to, and some offbeat, unprecedented action taken by the Storian. Of course, Agatha and Rafal will bicker a lot while Sophie plays the role of mediator. And, oh, Rafal will be tortured, slightly…

Additionally, there's a couple things to note about the premise and the changes I've made to canon, for context:

1. The fic will disregard Fall as canon, yet will acknowledge Rise.

2. There are several canon elements I'm not using. The Rafal is the fic is him from Rise, and also from TLEA. I decided to only acknowledge Rise but not Fall because I didn't want to work with the identity-swap twist. So Rafal is Rafal is Rafal in this case. I will draw from both his Rise characterization and his TLEA characterization.

3. Later in the fic, Rise Rhian only has minor appearances, and is present in Rafal's psyche, but he will not actually be a character until I write a possible sequel, if I ever do reach that point. So, you can assume Rhian was moderately Good to grey on the morality scale, and that Rafal was the one who ultimately committed the fratricide for the purposes of this fic.

4. I've decided not to acknowledge the OTK parentage twist. To clarify, Rafal will have no relation to Japeth, simply because it felt out of character for him to have children with a woman he seemed to loathe, even if it may have been less out of character for the canon Rhian falsely disguised as "Rafal." I personally thought it contradicted Rafal's characterization, so Japeth's placeholder father, who probably won't even be mentioned in the story, will be the Green Knight, to explain his magical prowess as the Snake.

Otherwise, for the most part, this fic is alternate continuity "canon," and diverges at some point during OTK.

I've tried to set the stage, eradicate confusion, and mediate potential disappointment as best as I could above, but if anyone would like me to demystify anything about the fic, my writing process, or ask anything else at all, feel free to send questions to me! Yet, I might not be able to answer everything, for various reasons, including limiting excessive spoilers, so please keep that in mind.

15.  How do you deal with writer’s block?

oooo definitely a location change is the first thing i try. so like, if i can't get any work done at home, i venture out and go to a cafe or somewhere else to try. if that doesn't work, i put it down and wait until something inspires me, whether from movies or shows or art!

16.  How many drafts do you need until you’re satisfied with a project?

lmfaooooo sometimes it's two, sometimes it's (draft) (redraft) (scraps) (mixed draft) (draft to post) (post), all separate docs lol

man, y'all.. i still really, really like the firepit scene in last november. but there's also a lot of scenes in three tangerines that are so dear to me, too. shout-out to that balcony that i find myself on, years later. or that kitchen, still so vivid in my mind and will forever be. if i can pick a favorite line for now.. it would be this one in fireworks:

depends on the subject matter! if i need to fact-check myself, then i'm gonna at least do the bare minimum. if there's something more extensive, then i'd do a little more work. since most of what i've written so far is slice of life, i haven't had to do too much!

Leon Joseph “Bip” Roberts (October 27, 1963) is a former MLB second baseman and outfielder who played (1986-98) for the San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, and Oakland Athletics.

He was a speedy second baseman. Originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first round of the Draft as a supplemental pick in 1982, after stealing a combined 90 bases in his two previous minor league seasons, he was taken by the San Diego Padres in the Rule 5 draft in December 1985.

In 1992, he was selected as a National League All-Star, going 2-for-2 with two RBI. Ηe was named the Cincinnati Reds team MVP, and was 8th in voting for the NL MVP, stealing 44 bases, and hitting .323. He tied an NL record in 1992 with ten consecutive base hits.

After the 1993 season, he re-signed with the Padres. In 1994, he recorded an MLB-best 24-game hitting streak for the Padres. He would play for the Indians in the postseason, although he missed a game in the World Series.

In 1202 games over 12 seasons, he posted a .294 batting average (1220-for-4147) with 663 runs, 203 doubles, 31 triples, 30 home runs, 352 RBI, 264 stolen bases, 396 bases on balls, .358 on-base percentage, and .380 slugging percentage. He finished his career with a .976 fielding percentage. In 16 postseason games, he hit .246 (15-for-61) with 4 runs, 5 doubles, 5 RBI, 3 stolen bases and 5 walks.

He has worked for NBC Sports Bay Area as a co-host for the Oakland Athletics pre-game telecasts. In 2008, he took over as the head coach for the Skyline High School baseball team in Oakland. He was an assistant coach to the Academy of Art Urban Knights NCAA Division II PacWest baseball program (2010–12). He has donated his time to the Students Rising Above Foundation, which helps low-income, at-risk Bay Area kids overcome obstacles.

I'm obsessed with the princess x knight trope (not a princess in this wip but still.) This multi-chapter fic is the one I'm having the most fun outlining. The master doc, which is solely rough bullet-points, is 8k words already. Then I have 3 separate docs working on scenes. There's a pinterest board. I've drafted the post layout ready for when I have chapters finished. I'm thriving.

Draft from 15th of June: How many chapters does MHA have left?

an old post I found in my drafts. did not finish it exactly but I figured it might be a fun read for someone. I tried to calculate it via anime seasons (laid down nicely) and manga volumes (did not lay down nicely at all but I forgot abt the last volume bonus content which is bound to be more than usually)

this was after ch 425 so I still had just a tiny bit of copium left in me

everything after the cut is text from the draft:

tldr: around ten maybe, maybe forty

one of our main measuring points there will be the anime coming out

as this wikipedia screenshot shows, season 7 is going to have 21 episode. we are one third through!

episode one starts with chapter 329 and ends with last pages of chapter 331. three chapters.

i decided not to check every single ep because that's long and annoying and instead grab all seven. if the amount of chapters serialised is consistent episode seven should end with chapter 349. which is exactly what happens!

so by extending this logic we can assume that episode 21 will contain chapters 389, 390 and 391 thus ending dabi's plotline in final war arc and bringing up the sad man parade. the main trick here is that chapter 391 is 9 pages long so exact details may vary but honestly i am willing to bet the season will end around there

but what then?

right now studio bones makes their anime seasons have either 25 eps (mha s7 is not an outlier if you count specials btw) or somewhere between 12-13. how many exactly? well

in last ten years there was one anime with 10 eps, 2 with 11, 9 with 13 and 18 with 12, however among those 18 two had specials released either during the airing period or just before it akin to s7 specials so it might be more correct to say that there are 10 animes with 13 episodes, 16 with 12 episodes and one with 14. debatable honestly

we will keep all three possibilities in mind

so, how many chapters is that? chapters 392-423 fit perfectly to give us 11 episodes

which means 1 more chapter for 12 episode (probably not)

4 more chapters for 13 episodes (most likely option out of three)

40 chapters for 25 episodes

"okay well what about manga volumes?"

GREAT QUESTION

we usually get 12 chapters per volume. the last released volume is vol. 40 which goes up to chapter 410 and includes it.

by the same logic volume 41 will contain chapters 411-422. but maybe actually 411-423 because come on that's just. one last chapter of final arc. it does not fit well here.

42 - 424-436

43 - 436-448

44 - 449-456

45 - 457-465??

math does not math well here to be honest. it DOES lower chances of getting like five chapters and be done significantly, but beyond that? debatable

what about the plot however? we still have several threads hanging:

lov state, surviving members, their fates

tomura dying and kurogiri's sacrifice. to be honest chapter 420 does not make me believe hori gives a single fuck about kuro and his plotline but what if??

mystery person

izuku's dad (horikoshi did say he wants to do something with him but as for ch 425 we still have nothing)

actually becoming the greatest hero. it did not happen yet. allmight can say whatever he wants really but izuku has not even graduated, i kinda doubt hori will just leave him in 2-a

ochako and shouto's plotlines in general. they don't feel finished yet and we know that at least with shouto there is definitely something coming up next chapter

a lot to cover. i would normally say four chapters definitely won't cut it but then again we DID have four pages to resolve the rooftop gang plotline. it's not the likely option but it's still an option for me now

horikoshi himself predicted he would end the manga in 2024 but he did the same thing about 2023 plus he could not have predicted the amount of breaks he is taking. still it does speak more in favor of having maybe 10 maybe 20 chapters rather than 40.
