Dragon Quest IX: INNS POLL
Since my last DQ9 poll went so well, let me try this again.
Honourable mentions to the healing place at the Observatory, and the Dormitory at Swinedimples, it's cool that they're free (seriously if you heal anywhere other than Swinedimples after finishing the quests in that town, you're doing something wrong), but they aren't technically inns.
Dishonourable mention to Porth Llaffan, Tumblr polls only allow 12 options, and this charming seaside inn was too boring to make the cut.

Mr. Ichimura has worked on several beloved DQ games as producer, titles such as "Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King", "Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies", or "Dragon Quest of the Stars". His last work at Square Enix will be "Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai: Infinity Strash", which is planned for release worldwide in fall 2023.

If I might add my two cents about Pavo. From a gameplay perspective, it obviously makes sense that she doesn't become a star which would've removed the option for the multiplayer and that would've been really stupid.
As for the lore of it, I've always believed that since her purpose was not to be a guardian of the people but rather a guardian of the gate between worlds her purpose has not been fulfilled at the end of the main story, therefore she doesn't become a star. And as for still being able to see her, the player can still see ghosts even before eating the fruit which the game (at least in the german version) explained as the process of becoming fully mortal takes a while to complete and that the main character can still see ghosts and by extension Pavo as well while that process isn't complete.

Mario Maker 2 Self Promotion: Super World and Sky Tower Saga
So getting back into Mario Maker 2 and for those who don't know I freaking love Mario Maker. I currently have 80 levels uploaded in the second and forgot how many I have uploaded in the first. Never as many cause I never got enough likes to expand my upload pool in that one. Glad 2 through that mechanic in the trash.
Anyway, this post is just to blow my horn and talk about some of my favorite levels I've made. I'm far from the best or most popular level designer but I do put my heart into them! If any strike your fancy it means the world to me if you play them! So let's go on.
First off if you want to find me and pull up all my levels

So first up, my Super World found on my profile.
This follows basic 8 world progression, made in the Super Mario world style. I did my best to make it feel like a Mario game while adding in some unique twists. Worlds 1-6 have four stages including a boss stage, and world 7 and 8 have 5 levels including boss stages. I try to stay true to form with fighting the Koopalings and progressing but giving them unique mechanics or battlefields to fight on to freshen the fights up.
The levels start on the super easy side as I've attempted to scale the difficulty up as you progress through the worlds. I'd say world 7 is where you notice a big bump up.
I recently redid the final level of it 8-5: Seat of the King. Mainly, while I liked the original version the boss fight with Bowser took way too long. I wish they had a way to adjust his HP. So I updated it so Bowser will get damaged much, MUCH more quickly, as well as adding in a couple secrets that can let you skip round 1 with him. It's not nearly as hard, but I'll take fun over difficult any day of the week.
Most of the levels I'm proud of are later in the games as I made them more complex as part of turning the difficulty up. 7-1: Blast Off! might be my favorite of the set. As for hardest, for me personally I think 8-4: The Koopaling's Last Dance! As it contains rematches with each Koopaling that you fought throughout the game and then a fight with Bowser Jr. I put two checkpoint flags right on either side of a pipe for this one so you can reactivate them any time you want to save your progress in this level.
I could gush about each level but there are 40 of them total in the Superworld so going to move on so we're not here all day.
Sky Tower Saga
Sky Tower Saga is a series of levels I made back before the game had Super Worlds using the Mario 3 layout. Sky Tower Saga contains much more and often difficult twists on its boss fights and each of the levels has its own boss.
Sky Tower Saga is a five level collection that basically tells the story of Mario's journey to Sky Tower after it mysteriously appears in well, the sky, and his effort to stop Bowser from seizing the tower's strange powers for himself.
Sky Tower Saga Part 1: Journey
Course ID: 402-DQ9-LSG
Journey has you start in a winter themed level, as you platform your way along before reaching the Tower's entrance. Once inside you climb the first few floors before facing Boom Boom. This level is the only completely normal boss fight in the series, as it serves as a warmup level before you enter the tower proper. So Boom Boom has no mechanics. There is sadly a Soft Lock in it, there's an area you can go down under after hitting a P Switch and find a 1-up. But if you don't have the Super Leaf then it's not possible to get back up and eventually you die once the P-Switch runs out.
Sky Tower Saga Part 2: Ascent
Course ID: 1DT-J87-6RF
Ascent where the series starts using vertical levels as you climb higher and higher into the Tower. This level also has far more secrets in it than the first, including eight key coins that if you gather you can unlock a special bonus door right before the boss fight. You can also use the key to skip the boss fight if you want, but kind of ruins the fun. Up to you if you want to get through faster or if you want to fight it! Whatever you feel like! But the fact the boss can be skipped is why I later stopped using red coins in boss stages to prevent that. I just like putting in secrets for people to find. XD I feel it makes things more fun.
Anyway, this time the boss fight is against a Flying Boom Boom but now we start to have new mechanics introduced. This fight has a time limit beyond the actual course timer. As the fight continues one of the walls will closely close in giving you less and less room to move around in. You need to defeat Boom Boom and unlock the exit door before the wall closes in completely and squashes you flat. I left the timer very generous.
I designed it by using a Bill Blaster as the wall. It doesn't shoot anything, but I put it on a conveyor belt that tries to carry it right. However there are switch blocks in the way blocking its progress. Below it is a shell that is fired onto a conveyor belt that tries to carry it right but the shell is shot left making it travel very slowly. At the end of it is a Switch Block. So each time it hits the block the Bill Blaster is released from a switch block and moves right. Meanwhile the shell is quickly delivered back to where it started before bouncing and slowly moving towards the switch again. During the fight you can see it moving so you can see exactly how much time you have before the wall moves again.
Sky Tower Saga Part 3 Secret
Course ID: K47-5M0-5RG
Sky Tower stretches so high into the sky you start to leave the atmosphere. As a result any time you are physically climbing the outside of the tower there will be less gravity. Thankfully it seems the Mushroom Kingdom invented artificial gravity so inside you're fine.
Once again we have red coins to unlock a secret room as you travel up. And once again it can be used to skip the boss fight if wanted. But surprise twist! There are two boss fights! More on that in a second.
Secret introduces something important in the form of the three Fire Orbs with wings that will be seen again. These are used to represent an entity called Tower Soul who will be a problem in a later stage, but for this one you just get a glimpse of them. Meanwhile, the challenge takes in the form of scaling the place while managing the lowered gravity. There is also a snake block to ride, but don't worry there's a two-way pipe right before it so you can exit and re-enter if you fall off and need to respawn it.
As for the fights. It's Bowser Jr with a round 1 and a round 2 against him. The first round is simple, some Throwmps slam down activating an on and off switch which drops Bowser Jr and two red Bill Blasters into the room. You have to hit Bowser three times while dodging homing Bullet Bills and you're done. But round 2 things kick up a bit. Bowser Jr is now protected in the safety of the Tower and you must fight him while dealing with the Tower's defenses. Your only platform is a seesaw that goes up and down but this is to your benefit once you realize what you need to do. You need to jump on Koopa Troopas and then shoot their shell into a small hole where they'll travel down and hit Bowser Jr. If you stand on the left side of the seesaw it will form a perfect ramp that you can slide the shell along right into the hole instead of having to jump into the air and fire it. While you continue to fight the tower will release other defenses including buzz saws so watch yourself as you take it down. This fight is good training for a future fight that's a much bigger problem.
Sky Tower Part 4: Apex
Course ID: W7B-R7W-XKG
Finally you reach the apex of the tower. But as you reach the top, you will find none other waiting for you than Bowser! Charged up with the Tower Soul the entire Tower is now at his command as he attempts to destroy you!
Once again, up in space so low gravity when climbing the exterior of the tower, but most of the platforming takes place in the interior as you climb up the last few floors. Beware of Bullet Bills as they'll be a constant threat when you climb. When you have to charge forward towards a Bill Blaster remember to look for holes in the area you can jump or duck in to dodge the bullets. Also, as you navigate flying beetles and other surprises there might be a chance to grab an unintended upgrade along the way.
Apex is where the red coins stop as I realized I was undermining the levels, as well as this is where you face a much bigger threat for the boss. Bowser himself is the boss fight this time. When you finally make your way up to him, the arena will look familiar. You fight Bowser in the same was as you did in Mario 3, but with a slightly simplified arena. Naturally a you can guess from the previous fight this is just a warmup for the real fight.
Grab the Fire Flower after round 1, it will make your life much easier, I promise. For fight 2, you'll be facing Bowser in a Fire Car, but you have a Fire Car of your own. If you grabbed the Fire Flower you shoot three fireballs instead of one which will make things much easier. Dodge Bowser's attacks and take him out with your own fireballs to proceed forward! However, Bowser is probably the smallest worry you'll have at the moment. The Tower Soul will be seen flying around the map damaging you if it impacts you, as well as there are tons of cannon balls being fired. Navigate the maze of obstacles carefully as you fight Bowser and finally finish off the fight... Except, not quite. At the end of the level you'll see though Bowser is gone, Tower Soul remains.
Sky Tower Saga Finale: Soul

It's the final level. With Bowser defeated Tower Soul has gone berserk. If the tower is left unchecked its destruction power will spread to the Mushroom Kingdom. Are you ready to fight an entire freaking tower? Cause you're fighting an entire tower. Or at least the heart of it.
This is a boss stage, no platforming to get here. Instead, you get some power ups and then are instantly thrown into a battle with Tower Soul. That's right, the final boss is a completely original thing instead of being Bowser again! I know it turns out I am capable of originality at times!
Now then...This is what the Bowser Jr fight earlier was practice for. You will see the Tower Soul inside a huge contraptions once you step into the heart of the tower. The ticket is once again to kick shells into a small opening so that it can damage the tower. But it's going to be much harder this time. There's no ramp you can shoot it up through. Now you'll need to either throw the shells from the air, jump up to the hole or time it perfectly off a moving platform to get a hit in. Each time you land a successful hit you'll see the tower start to fall apart as bricks fall from overheard.
This fight took a long time to design and went through a lot of versions. First I had to get it to actually work so that you could get a key for defeating a thing the game doesn't regard as an actual entity. I hit an enemy that's never visible on screen but is killed right after you land your final hit on Tower Soul. That enemy holds the key so that's how I made it look like defeating Tower Soul gives you the key. After I got this working though the fight was too insanely hard. So believe it or not this is the tuned down version of it. Keep aware of the threats around you and practice your timing with shells until you earn victory.
But the level isn't over yet. The Tower Soul flees as the entire tower begins to collapse. It's time for a Metroid this place is gonna explode escape sequence with some fun music. But, how do you escape Sky Tower? Well... You'll see when you get there. Defeating Tower Soul is the hard part the rest of the level is super easy and I don't want to spoil the fun of what's happening.
Anyway that's stuff about my Super World and Sky Tower. I may post more of these with other levels I worked on and their course IDs as it goes on. We'll see how it goes. Will also be trying to come up with some new level ideas cause the itch to make levels is bugging me like crazy now. God I need to compile a list of release dates for both Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy.

And then FF16 releases in 2023 and DQ12 is still in development.
So past a certain point, you end up getting two Final Fantasy games to every Dragon Quest.
I still want to play them all in order, but that means playing three MMOs - or two MMOs and one offline release of an MMO, but only if that offline release gets translated into English which it might not be.
And while I wouldn't count spinoffs, one thing that muddies the waters is SEQUELS. Dragon Quest tends to be an arc-based series, with trilogies of games in the same setting up to a point and occasionally setting later games and spinoffs in earlier settings. Every Final Fantasy game is a standalone world, and those games occasionally get direct sequels.
Final Fantasy X-2 came out after Final Fantasy 11, but before Dragon Quest 8. FF13-2 came out after 14, but before both FF14:ARR and DQ10 - and Lightning Returns came out between A Realm Reborn and FF15. Final Fantasy 4: The After Years came out between FINAL FANTASY 12 AND DRAGON QUEST 9.
It's so funny like, Dragon Quest 3 is arguably one of the biggest turn-based RPGs in history and it released before Final Fantasy 2, which is arguably the worst Final Fantasy game. But then in the 90's, Squaresoft released three of the best Final Fantasy games IN A ROW between Dragon Quest releases.
Past a certain point, though, comparison stops mattering as much. One part of that is because with the establishment of Square Enix, both series ended up being produced by the same company. But another part of it is that both franchises went from being industry leaders of their genre to contending with a wide ocean of other innovative RPGs and new franchises that did their own thing.
Both series still had their own flair and innovations, but we went from a handful of contenders in the SNES era to an unstoppable wave of turn-based RPGs between the PS1 and PS2. Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest were still big fish, but the pond got a lot more cramped and neither franchise could rely on their usual strengths because everyone else was catching up.
Dragon Quest survived by embracing its status as a "legacy" franchise, as a rock-solid foundation of the entire genre that set out to be the best damn turn-based RPGs that they could be on every conceivable level. Find a Dragon Quest fan who's hated a Dragon Quest game in the past twenty years.
Final Fantasy, whose more action-oriented combat system and impressive CG cutscenes were falling behind, told news outlets that "turn-based combat is dead" and pivoted towards action RPG mechanics. At best, the transition between FF13 and FF7-R was rocky.
That being said? Dragon Quest remained obscure and Final Fantasy remained popular. And a lot of those competitors between 1995-2007 have fallen by the wayside, and both franchises are kind of industry leaders again. So I guess none of that had a point in the end.

You know because I was bored I decided that you guys get to see some scrapped ocs from my past that I've kept to myself. Why? Don't really know. Probably will try to do all the ones I remember but hey if I forget one then I forget one. It'll have what fandom they were part of in brackets and a brief overview of their whole deal. They'll be under the read more because there's a lot and I have a tendency to over explain.
Melody (Pokemon Moon):
She was made during the phase of my life where I wanted to do novelizations of games I've played but with X character. I made a twist with her though, and by extension the Ultra version which was scrapped. The twist came from my frustration with Ultra Space and how that despite it being the most Lovecraftian place since the Distortion World and yet there was nothing done with it.
Like seriously if you get exposed you become a Faller which to sum up means you're a living magnet to all of the Lovecraftian creatures that you come across. And if you fuck up you lose all of your memories, become a Faller, and are stranded in the middle of some fucking dimension in the middle of nowhere. That's dull and makes it feel like it sucks to study Ultra Space due to the sheer downsides relating to it.
So I gave her Ultra Space powers. You don't botch being a Faller, you get super powers. Inspired from Bloodborne and my minor Mob Psycho phase that's basically the gist of it for her. When I look back at her, her mechanics are somewhat related to what Metroid Prime Corruption had, the more exposed you are the more powerful you are but sometimes it can consume you. It's doable but the mechanics have long since faded from my mind.
Hunter I think? (1st Fossil Fighters):
Been a long ass time since I played the first Fossil Fighters game. I still have the cartridge even today somewhere. Never touched the others so I don't know how good they are in comparison.
Anyways the overview with him was that he was from Newfoundland and Labrador and worked at a Deli called the Ice Cabbage with his father. Somehow he ended up winning a trip to the island despite never having entered but was forced to go anyway. Made the best of it, was a selfish shit and would fight anyone who tried to claim a jewel rock. Because apparently Fossil Island was loaded with infinitely respawning gemstones. If he was going to be stuck here may as well be rich doing it.
He's changed over time, became nicer but would still fight you for the gem rocks by sicking his dinosaurs at you. Not much else due to it being another novelization thought in terms of story.
Rune and his friends (Dragon Quest 9):
Now him and his friends are a doozy. They all were part of the novelization trend true but because they were create-a-characters it worked out so much better. Technically Fossil Fighters and Pokemon are also create-a-character games (sort of for the first Fossil Fighters) but shhhhhhh.
For a quick recap of DQ9 you play as an angel who fell down to the planet after something shook the observatory all the angels live on. Your job after a bit is to recover golden wish granting figs. Shit happens of course.
Now in DQ9 it was obviously a prototype game on the DS for what would become DQ10, a Japanese exclusive MMO for PC. But enough of that history back to the characters. The 4 are down below before going back to your regularly scheduled oc dust off.
Rune was more or less naïve but that's because he literally fell from the sky and doesn't know squat about mortal customs. After some evens he makes it to the next big town Stornway, which is where you can recruit party members. Which, here they are:
Dawn (Priest): She was a priest at the local church who mainly wanted to go adventuring or at least see the world and help others. She was recruited and became the first party member of the 4 person group. Uses a wand to help boost her MP and healing spells. Game wise she was heal bot but it was fine since they don't tend to have high attack stats anyway.
Garth (Warrior): He was give or take a no nonsense mercenary who really just needed a job. Garth come on willingly since at the time Stornway was dealing with a Black Knight problem and he could get some cash out of it and stayed after the fight. His secret vice is that he is drawn to cursed items and will wear them by any means necessary even if wearing a cursed item can cause you to lose a turn. Garth disliked Ivy, the thief of the party but grew used to her as a friend. Uses a spear in combat, mainly because replaying the game so many times I've done two sword users so figured to mix it up a bit.
Ivy (Thief): Out of all the party members Ivy was out for herself first and foremost. She didn't care about the others and wanted things to acquire. She mostly stayed both because Rune was an anomaly to her and because she wanted to know more about him. Her biggest secret is that she can see ghosts and other such creatures, which ended up being something the rest of the party find out pretty quickly. Uses big fuck off claws because I thought that weapon type was just fun to envision using. Also the super technique is call Hand of God that's just epic.
Fun fact they were also part of a mental sequel involving DQ11 but I'd have to replay the game nowadays to even remember the basic plot beats of the game.
Now that that's over for those 4 now it is time for the ones that I had the most connection with and the ones I actually attempted converting to the fantasy setting I'm working on before abandoning it due to complications. I don't even remember how many characters this series gave me so I'm just gonna go with the two that matter most, starting with:
Mazin Harvest (RWBY):
Oh boy where do I even fucking start with him? Besides the fact that he's a RWBY character of course and how he and his partner were the most detailed out of the rest.
Short end of it, he was a mess of a guy. Had a bloat of powers (though that mainly was because I was a fan of One Piece, specifically Zoro and an attack he gets later on, not to mention Asura's Wrath) that only got worse as the series went on. Went from moderately simple to overcomplicated.
To put it simply he, and by extension his family, was cursed. Which is already a weird thing to say in a setting where magic doesn't 'exist' (it did before 1000s of years ago when the Gods of that setting killed every human for attempting to rebel and now no one besides one immortal who becomes the villain has magic) but it made sense at the time. The curse meant that when they became too powerful they became manifestations of whatever their power was, only berserk and barely able to tell friend from foe. His family line could control it to an extent though said manifestations were also emotion based depending on their power and personality. It's a whole ass thing that I regret making overcomplicated or even just not refining it as time went on.
So as a result his curse his Semblance (which was an exclusive ability everyone had a unique version of) was clouds. Since his name meant clouds he got abilities relating to them. Though with how I was using them you'd never be able to tell. Used them mainly for manifesting more limbs and such but eventually used them to boost himself higher into the air. Had a ton of different weapons too since that was a core thing about the series but again, too many ideas and no commitment to any of them.
Personality wise he was a fighting savant. Was good with fights not so much with the smarts, though he does get his moments every now and then. Willing to go far for his friends and while was good leaning isn't afraid to commit a crime or two if it meant doing good.
Fuck talking about him takes be back during my teens. Now for the more sane character between the two and honestly arguably the one I actually preferred thinking about before the interest fizzled out.
Maple (RWBY):
She was what you'd call a Faunus, which were animal people that never really had many animal features. Seriously the setting rules made it so that they could only have one visible animal trait. Most of the time it was either ears or a tail. She was a fox one and had little ears on her head.
In any case she was the opposite to Mazin in every way. Was still a good fighter but not as good as he was. Smarter than he was but unlike him, wasn't good with people. Kept to herself and truly trusted him above most people. Helped that she was homeless and he helped her out and went out of his way at every point to be with her. So she's loyal to him.
Power wise I had the most fun with her Semblance, mainly because it was an interesting concept: If every Semblance is a reflection of the person who owns it and is unique to the soul of each person, what does that say about someone who's ability is to mirror the soul and copy them? So her ability was Mirror, able to copy the Semblance of anyone she touches. For a few minutes at a time, lasting longer depending on her bond with the other person. Mazin's of course lasted the longest.
Her weapon was also fun since I liked using unique weapons. Hers was a monk spade, with an equally large spade part made for slashing attacks. The crescent moon part was for counters and would detach in the middle to be able to be duel-wielded. Because this is RWBY however, the big spade part would detach again to become two more blades that also functioned as sub machine guns. Because almost everything is part gun in this setting.
So yeah that's all of the ones I can remember off the top of my head! Out of all of them I'd like to transfer Mazin and Maple over to the fantasy setting that's being worked on but trying to ground them (mostly Mazin because he's an overcomplicated bastard of my own doing) is tricky. Maple is slightly easier but since its likely a type of magic why would you ever want to copy someone else's magic when you could just be multifaceted and do it yourself?
I'm not in a rush regardless and I already need to work on making stories for others before I even think about making more ocs.
But yeah if there's more that I can remember then this might just reblogged with another section down below. Even if it'd mainly be RWBY characters because dammit that series had a vice grip on me at that time of my life.

iirc the dlc quests gave us just enough information about things for us to sort of put some of the pieces together, but nothing's outright stated or confirmed? in the case of styrmling specifically i'm pretty sure he was only name dropped in greygnarl's grotto fight dialogue and nowhere else lmao
more clarification in a future remake would definitely be welcome! i personally would really like for acknowledgement or hints at these plot points in the main story if they ever do rerelease dq9 (which they absolutely should because it's the best)
if theres ever a DQIX remake i want it to include all the DLC quests, a version of the DQVC that unlocks gradually as you complete the game so as not to break it with overpowered items, and for them to fucking elaborate on the "styrmling" and "stellestria" shit.
is sterling secretly a dragon? why/how is stella celestria's "other self"? why does she want to be a nail artist so bad?

I'm sure a lot of us would like to see a Dragon Quest IX remake, at some point, but what would we actually want from it? Graphical improvements are given, unless they give the job ILCA, but what else? Should stuff be added? What stuff? Should it be faithful in every way to the DS original? Your thoughts please.

I usually go for dqix, but the other main 3 are dq9, dragon quest ix and dragon quest 9. There is no universal tag people just kinda go for whatever so I'd follow all of them :)

So, here it is, the sixth of the set. I think this version looks a lot better than the 2019 version, and I genuinely feel that I fixed most of the problems that I had with the old drawing.
Now, time to repeat the AU based parts so this can be the replacement:
The sixth and final drawing of the set is of Phone Krasnyy Guy, the investigative journalist who works through his paranoia to uncover dark secrets and the hidden atrocities committed by Fazbear Entertainment. Being the most skilled in working alongside the ghost that possesses him, possessed animatronics sometimes see him as being Shadow Freddy's vessel rather than an individual person, which sometimes helps, but sometimes gets him referred to as a traitor, even though he was never on the animatronics side in the first place.
"I hate the word vessel. It makes it seem like I don't have a life of my own. Being possessed does have an effect on your day to day life, sure, but it's not all there is to life. It's just an extra voice in your head - the other voice being your own thoughts - that sometimes helps out. Although, the existence of ghosts and the ability for ghosts to possess machines does beg the question of when life truly ends."

Note: his mum gave him his first name, and his father gave him his middle name. The word "красный" (pronounced krasnyy) means "Red" in Russian
Nick-Name: 'Red', 'Krass', 'Red headed coward', and 'Opossum'

Country of origin: Russia (1/2 Russian)
Medical issues: Aphenphosmphobia and paranoia
Personality: He is rather emotionally unstable and pessimistic most of the time, Krasnyy is no stranger to crying; after all, it's the healthier way to deal with fear. Being motor-mouthed with a curious nature to boot usually winds up with him getting in a lot of danger, but due to his investigative lifestyle and cautious nature, he's always ready, even if he's not prepared. Over the phone, he may give off the illusion of someone who is charismatic and put together, but when talking face to face, the act is off and it becomes apparent that he's quite the opposite:  shy, emotional, if a bit cowardly, but regardless of if he is in-person or not, he is still helpful and dead-set of getting any messages he may have out. At the best of times, he is patient, logical, and resourceful, and at the worst of times, he can be slightly impulsive and paranoid with his sole focus on surviving.
Story: His earliest childhood memories are a blur of moving to Chicago with his parents after his father went to work at Freddy's. Most of what he can remember was visiting his relatives for long periods of time to avoid being around his mother for too long as people thought that she thought he was a demon.
When he was younger, he met Jeremy Fitzgerald who had just moved from Japan, who he introduced to the messed up world of being a kid at Freddy's. Due to all the actual 'events' he's witnessed, he's almost always had a knack for journalism. As Jeremy wanted to be a private investigator when he grew up, the two made a firm friendship and had a tendency to 'interview' and 'interrogate' members of staff about strange events.
However, things took a turn for the worst on his 16th birthday in 1984, when his father and one other employee of Freddy's were killed in spring lock accidents. Many say he never recovered from the trauma of that event, however he was 'asked' to work at Freddy's as his fathers replacement as a security guard. On top of this, he is possessed by the ghost of his deceased father, who may also appear as shadow Freddy or a purple butterfly (think Stella from DQ9). After he got the job, he had very little time to spend with his friends due to being overworked.
In 1987, he was recording for a birthday party when he noticed that 5 children had gone missing. He went to investigate. Only he knows what he saw as he only shows people a recording of the party, and refuses actually say anything himself about what happened due to fearing that he'll be killed by someone who wants to keep the murders a secret. Later that year, he found himself constantly tossed in a secret room with a one way door and access to the left ventilation shaft due to the company wanting him out of the way. His company was normally BB passing through, and on the one occasion, a young girl who happened to slip through the door who called him a 'Red headed coward' on more than one occasion. Especially when she found him blacked out under a table when a killer spring bonnie was roaming around that one time.
Due to his curious nature, skill for mimicking others voices and determination to find out what drives the seemingly failing company he works for, he eavesdrops in conversations amongst the executives but they soon caught wind and have been sending a certain serial killer to try and kill him ever since, something about 'Speeding up the progress'. The time they came the closest to succeeding was in the summer of 1993, when he was moved to the graveyard shift for an unfortunate week. Was this the 'process' he was hearing about and was he supposed to die then? Regardless, his survival seemed to be come as an unpleasant surprise to his employer...
His new priority is survival. Out of necessity, spite, and curiosity.
Extras: swears a lot and often is mistaken for a girl.

gonna be honest, there are 2 major english dq wikis but both are pretty low quality compared to most fan wikis i've used. if you're looking for big information repositories, gamefaqs is where it's at. hell, check out the dq9 equipment guide by themysticalone which i will be referring to a lot and incorporating a lot of the same info. it doesn't have everything i want, though. i'm going to make a folder available on google drive holding all the images and i'm going to use those images in a spreadsheet available on google sheets.
anyway, one of the best resources are autistic people like me who love making lists and visualising data and stuff.
p.s. if i'm trying to 100% a game and can't find a comprehensive guide on something i'm looking for or, like with dragon quest, i CAN but only on japanese wikis, i sometimes make guides myself. if you're working on the confusing task of trying to obtain every weapon and shield in dragon quest heroes ii, i compiled the information into excel and then turned it into a steam guide. or if you found that guide i did with all the dq11 info and found it useful but you're playing dq11s and while you can work out most of the differences, you weren't sure about what accolades were added and removed since with acolades you can't see the gaps or how many there are in total, i made a google sheet linked with a post about it here.
i also have some junk that i just make for my own entertainment and don't share

yeah it hasnt! ah did i say something? my bad sorry it'll be out at the next wave of polls (r2 of major and r1 of minor!) so hopefully friday/saturday night. also thanks for that i will try my best to be consistent
