When Dick took over Tim's infiltration of the Ghost Investigation Ward, he thought he'd be coming out of it with a few files and maybe some information.

Instead, he left with a kid.

Now Dick finds himself trying to learn how to be a father all while helping his new son, Danny, overcome the trauma that he had been dealt by the GIW. It's a roller coaster of a ride, but thankfully Dick isn't alone. Danny now has a bunch of excitable aunts, uncles, grandparents, and even a great-grandfather all ready to dote on him. Dick is determined to give Danny the best life he can manage as he works to keep Danny safe from the myriad of forces that want to harm him.

When your soulmate dies, you burn them flowers.

Historians weren't sure exactly where the tradition started or why it became such a common phenomenon even across cultures. Sure, different countries had different ways of burning their soulmates flowers, but all of them held that same tradition. Most only burned them once, a final goodbye or a promise to meet next time when they couldn't in this life. For the more dedicated lovers, one might see a monthly burning.

Duke buys flowers for his soulmate everyday. If they could just stop dying then maybe Duke's allowance wouldn't go towards his local flower shop every week. However, his soulmate has a bad habit of dying at least once a day and then coming back. So, Duke keeps buying his soulmate flowers.

It's only proper after all.

The Court of Owls had been targeting the Robins for a while now.

Duke knew that his group wasn't their real goal. Knew they were trying to bring back Gotham's vigilantes who had all scattered or died with Batman. However, just because he knew he was a means to an end didn't mean he wasn't prepared to face them. He and his group had promised each other that they'd help keep Gotham safe. If that meant taking on a shadowy underground cult then dammit, that's what they'd do.

Of course, that didn't mean Duke had the tools to face them alone. He finds himself caught, tied and made to be a sacrifice to a demon, a ghost, whatever the fuck the Court was trying to summon. However, instead of losing his life, Duke finds himself gaining a partner.

Danny hadn't meant to start dating again.

After the incident, he told himself that he wouldn't ever let himself grow that close to someone else. Not with the dangerous life he lived or the bad luck he seemed to ooze. Moving to Gotham had been his step towards his self-imposed isolation--a new city with no attachments and no questions as to who he was or why a ghost haunted their streets.

Yet, when his classmate and tentative friend, Steph, sets him up on a blind date, Danny finds himself tumbling back into love.

Duke always kept a gas mask on him.

It was one of the things that you just did as a Bat. With how many of their rogues used forms of gas and biological warfare to terrorize Gotham, it only made sense to have at least one or two on you. Of course, Duke rarely had to use his--the villains coming out in Daylight preferring less overt ways of toying with him. When he ends up cornered by Scarecrow's fear gas and his mask breaks, Duke thinks he's doomed.

Until a friendly phantom shows up and offers his own gas mask to Duke.

Duke loved his Snowbird so much.

After six months together, he and Danny are considering the next steps to their relationship. However, after questions from his siblings and his own concerns, Duke finds there's still a lot on his mind about their relationship.
