Book Club | Doyoung

summary: fluff, drabble, being in a bookclub with your boyfriend consists of spending an afternoon reading and cuddling with him, and then taking a nap afterwards wc: 448 a/n: Happy Doyoung Day!! 💚

“I’m so glad we’re finally getting to this one. I’ve been wanting to read it forever.” Doyoung says to you, getting the blankets out from the closet. 

“Me too! Plus it’s the perfect time to read it because I heard it’s all set in the beginning of February.” 

You and Doyoung had come up with the idea to have a ‘book club’ between the two of you. Specifically to read the books that have been on each of your ‘to-be-read’ piles for the longest time. This way, you could keep each other accountable while also getting to spend time doing your two favorite things, reading and spending time with each other. 

You change into some of his clothes, even though you already had comfy clothing on, there was just something extra cozy about being in Doyoung’s favorite sweater. You grab the selected book club book and plop down onto the couch right next to him, as he throws the blanket over the both of you. 

Doyoung’s apartment doesn't have a fireplace, so he plays fireplace ambience on his tv instead. You always giggle at him whenever he does this, but he's always adamant that 'it really creates the perfect reading atmosphere.'

── ࣪˖ ࣪ ⊹ ࣪ ˖ ──

The time flies by as you both get lost in what you're reading. When you finally do come back to reality, you find yourself snuggled in closer to Doyoung than when you had started. He strokes your hair absentmindedly and you close your eyes like a cat, basking in his affection. Your grip on the book slightly loosens, causing it to fall gently to your thighs. Doyoung notices the movement out of the corner of his eyes and stops reading as well. 

 “Getting tired, baby?” You hum in response, still not opening your eyes. Doyoung reaches over to the coffee table and grabs your bookmark, placing it right where you stopped reading. The absence of his hand on your hair causes you to finally open your eyes. You cringe slightly as you watch Doyoung close his book without placing a bookmark in it, he insists that he doesn't need one because he always remembers where he left off. 

“Wanna take a nap?” Doyoung asks, pulling the blanket closer because he already knows your answer. You respond by giving him a kiss on the cheek which makes Doyoung smile shyly at you. He pulls you in close and you find the most comfortable position.

You drift off to sleep quickly, Doyoung’s soft fingers on your back and the crackle of the fake fireplace causing you to be fully relaxed. You’re not awake to notice, but Doyoung presses the gentlest kiss on the top of your head right before he drifts off to sleep too.
