Happy New Year! As the clock turns, I have a special fakemon gift! I've already shared the regional Pikachu for my in-progress fan region, but we also have a regional Eevee with regional Eeveelutions.
This regional Eevee, known as "Smokee" to locals, is a Ghost type. Its body is made of ash and smoke. Despite its strong resemblance to Eevee, Smokee never reacted to any of the known Eevee evolution methods. That was until recent events in the region uncovered a material that, when exposed to Smokee, causes it to evolve!
Regional Vaporeon live in misty mountain valleys. They exhale thick plumes of vapor to hide in. They're known to be temperamental. They have the Marvel Scale ability.
Regional Jolteon live in the forest abutting the foot of the mountain. They fire off stinging spines from their bodies with startling accuracy. They have the Compound Eyes ability.
Regional Flareon fly about in the thin mountain air. The fluff on their bodies absorbs sunlight to keep themselves warm at high altitudes; at night, it releases a pleasant glow. They have the ability Flare Boost.
Regional Espeon have an uncanny ability to dowse for water in their alpine desert homes. When their tails straighten, it means water is near. They have the Water Absorb ability.
Regional Umbreon form packs in the swamps. A strange, sickly glow emanates from the jewel on their foreheads, making them look like will-o-wisps in the night. They have the Corrosion ability.
Regional Leafeon's blades are ultra-light razors that can cut nearly anything, even sheer mountain rock. When its blades dull, it sheds them and grows new ones. It has the Sharpness ability.
Regional Glaceon live in caves, where they use their gem-studded heads to bash open pathways in the dark. They have the Rock Head ability.
Regional Sylveon live in cities. By tightening and loosening the wraps on their legs, they can control the power of their blows. They have the Moxie ability.
As I hope you can see, my idea with creating these Regional Eeveelutions was to fill out the rest of the type chart while keeping the designs within the basic silhouettes of the existing Pokemon. I hope you guys like them!

May Week 2: Divining Deeper
There's a lot of topics to cover this month, so let's carry on and dig in! More divination prompts ahead!
Monday - Tea Reading
Research/ New Page - Look into tea reading! What is it? How does it work? What kinds of things does tea reading show us? What are some of the symbols in tea reading? Make a list and write out the meanings of the various symbols. What is tea reading used for? Where did tea reading originate? What is the history of tea reading?Who, throughout time, has performed it? Are there any myths and legends surrounding tea reading? What are some pop culture examples or tea reading? How are they accurate or inaccurate compare to what you've learned?
Herb study - Make a new page or note about an herb you have not studied yet. Look up its origins, how to grow it, its culinary, mundane and magical uses, along with its various associations. How was this herb used and thought of throughout history? Does it have any relation to myths and legends?
Practical/ Relax- Go make a cup of your favorite tea and just relax! It’s been a full week both study wise and probably emotion wise if you’ve been getting/ performing readings! I rather enjoy a simple cup of earl grey, or peppermint.
Tuesday - Numerology
Research/ New Page - Look up the definition of numerology! What is it? What is its history? Where did it originate? What is its purpose? How does it work? What kinds of things can numerology tell us? What do the various numbers represent and mean? How can one apply numerology to one's life? What can we learn from numerology? What can it tell us about ourselves, about the world around us, about the people around us and about our lives?
Practical/ Journal - Look into the numerology of things in your own life. What is your life path number? Your name’s number? As much as you can! Journal all of them!
Wednesday - Flame/ Smoke Reading
Research/ New Page - Look up flame and smoke reading as a form of divination. How can we use these two tools for divination purposes? What things do you focus on with flame and smoke reading? What do you look for? What kinds of things can flame and smoke reading tell us? What kind of answers can they give? Where did these forms of divination originate? Is there any folklore, myth, or legend involving these?
Practical Journal - Get out a candle and do the thing! Light it, let it burn for a minute then perform a flame divination or blow it out and perform a smoke divination. Journal the experience. What did you ask? What answers did you find?
Gem Study - Again, make a new page or a new note about a specific gemstone. What is it used for in magic? What is it used for in non magical applications? Is it associated with any myths, legends, or deities? Where on earth is it found? What are its other associations?
Thursday - Palmistry
Research/ New Page - This one is a big one! It might take a couple pages. There is a lot of info out there to learn involving this topic. Plenty of books as well as internet sources. Define palmistry. What is it? How does it work? Where did the practice originate? What kinds of things does it tell us? What answers does it give? Is there any myth, legend, or folklore involving palmistry? Who traditionally performs it? What are some pop culture references to palmistry? Are they accurate? What are the different lines and what do they represent?
Practical Journal - Find someone who can read your palms (really guys, pay for readings. You’re buying a service.) If not, learn enough to read at least part of your own palm! Journal about what it tells you.
Friday - Dowsing
Research/ New Page - What is dowsing? Define it, it’s purpose and how to do it. Who traditionally used dowsing and performed it? What kinds of myths and legends and folklore are there that involve dowsing? What does dowsing show us and lead us to? What kinds of things can we use it for? What tools are required for dowsing?
Practical - Find the tools, find the time, find the place and perform a dowsing! Meditation/ Journal - Again, another week packed with divination and introspection and perhaps even looking at parts of ourselves and our lives that we aren’t used to putting under scrutiny. Meditate on all that you have learned and how it all ties together. Journal the experience.
Well damn guys, what a long, information filled week it's been! Thank you all for sticking with me! There's much more coming ahead, so get some rest!
-Mod Hazel

something about termina, lorule, demise, and the flames of the dark rites
ok so i was thinking about the sword of demise and the goddess sword
the goddess sword is the blade of the goddess hylia, and is also the sword spirit fi, who is capable of dowsing. this capability is what allows her to track zelda, the reincarnation of hylia.
the sword if demise is the blade of the demon king demise, and is also the sword spirit ghirahim, who has the capability to track zelda, the reincarnation of hylia. this implies some dowsing ability.
in its default form, the goddess sword bears little resemblance to the blade of demise. however, when tempered in the sacred flames of the golden goddesses, it becomes the master sword.
both blades (masyer sword and sword of demise) feature winged hilts, embedded gems, and depictions of the triforce engraved in the steel. the sword of demise is very clearly a demonic counterpart to the master sword - although it was fully forged first. also, its triforce is upside down.
considering that hylia and demise have parallel blades, it is a fair assumption that demise is the demonic parallel to hylia, and was granted the role of king by some greater entities (just as hylia was). i revisit this later once i have some more laid out, bear with me.
it is also a fair assumption that, as the blade of demise resembles the master sword more than the goddess blade, it was similarly tempered in demonic flames.
and i think ive got a pretty strong contender.
the sacred flames are three flames containing the power of the golden goddesses. the flames of the dark rites are three flames containing the power of the demons. in fact, there are theories that the flames of the dark rites are actually the origin of all demonic power, although i dont subscribe to it.
i believe that there are three dark demons, just as there are three golden goddesses. the sacred flames contain the power of the golden goddesses, and embody the virtues of power, wisdom, and courage. the flames of the dark rights contain the power of the dark demons, and embody the virtues of destruction, sorrow, and despair.
i believe that demise tempered his blade in the flames of the dark rites, just as link tempered hylias blade in the sacred flames. this is why the sword of demise resembles the master sword so closely.
these dark demons, the parallels to the golden goddesses, left demise in charge of their domain, just as the golden goddesses did to hylia.
and, just as the golden goddesses created the light realm (hyrule and its sister kingdoms), the dark demons created the dark realm (lorule and its sister kingdoms). this connects to the master sword and demise sword - the master sword features the triforce of light (embodying wisdom, courage, and power) while the demise sword features the triforce of dark (embodying sorrow, despair, and destruction).
the gods rule the light realm. the demons rule the dark realm.
the triforce of dark, bearing the virtues of destruction, sorrow, and despair, was the original triforce of lorule. it, due to it having corrupted virtues, pointed towards the ground. just as the golden goddesses left behind the triforce (to sustain the light realm) and the sacred flames, the dark demons left behind their triforce (to sustain the dark realm) and the flames of the dark rites. the golden goddesses placed hylia in charge of the light realm; the dark demons placed demise in charge of the dark realm.
due to the dark realm being founded upon more corrupted virtues, the people were more cruel and paranoid. because of this, the primary settlement of the kingdom isnt even named - its just a town for thieves to rest before they head back out to rob and crime. i believe that this led to the era of chaos, the war over the triforce, happening much earlier than it would have in the light realm, even without demises interference. i will revisit this.
as for the actual layout of the dark realm, just to cover some bases.
look at the eastern border of termina and the western border of lorule
to the southeast termina, there is swampy jungle marsh
to the southwest lorule, there is swampy jungle marsh
just north of that marsh in termina is a desert
just north of that marsh in lorule is a desert
to the north of both kingdoms is a mountain range said to be cursed into eternal winter
i believe that termina is directly to the west of lorule. the small bit of desert in lorule connects to the ikana desert of termina, and the curse placed upon the termina range extended to death mountain.
there is more in-game evidence for this, in both albw and majoras mask.
the ikana desert bleeds into lorulian territory, so it would stand to reason there would be some transferred iconography. that is exactly what we see. in the stone tower temple - in the ikana desert - we see depictions of the triforce, being licked by demons. the triforce is right-side-up, if youre talking about the light realm, but its upside down, if youre talking about the dark realm. this would imply some connection with the tower and inversion, since such a key symbol is inverted.
oh wouldnt you know the entire dungeon flips upside down.
so, if we say its an inverted dark triforce, it actually serves as a guide to those who travel through the dungeon: it is a dungeon of inversion. similarly, since its a symbol of the dark demons who created the world, it is a simultaneous depiction of defiance against the gods and worship of the dark demons.
when inverted (resembling the light triforce), a pathetic, naked figure with a forked tongue (a weak demon) is licking the triforce from above. this seems to imply that those who defy the dark demons (the gods, represented by the inverted dark triforce) are lesser than even the weakest of demons.
when oriented correctly (resembling the dark triforce), that same pathetic demon is now below the triforce, straining to lick its tip. this seems to depict how most demons, even those greater than the gods, are still lesser than the dark demons who created the world and struggle for just a small taste of their power. this is a flattering image for their creator deities.
so, now that weve discussed the connection to the lorulian dark triforce in majoras mask, we can now discuss the connection to terminas culture in a link between worlds - although this is even more blatant.
thieves town, on the western edge of the kingdom bordering termina, has a group of people who wear masks depicting the faces of monsters in an attempt to become those monsters themselves.
termina is littered with magical masks that transform its wearer into the monster it depicts.
this seems pretty direct. they picked up the culture or myths of those masks from termina and, seeking salvation from the pain of human life in the dark realm, developed a religion from the concept of transformative masks.
so there is a connection to the other kingdoms culture and icons in both games, and theyre both along the proposed common border with similar geographic features.
now as for the mountains: there is a misconception held by some that the curse on biggoron is what caused the winter on terminas mountain. that isnt the case. the curse on biggoron caused the blizzard, yes; but he was only there in termina in the first place to investigate the endless winter.
the mountains were cursed a significant time before majoras mask, allowing for the time it took for biggoron to learn of the curse and travel to termina; this curse affected death mountain in lorule.
now, i said i would revisit what i said about the era of chaos happening earlier in lorule.
i think that there are two things at play: the dark world, which is more aggressive, had the era of chaos earlier as a result. and the light world, which was attacked by demise, had the era of chaos greatly delayed as a result (the hylians were sent to the sky).
i believe that the lorulian sages destroyed the dark triforce just before the events of skyward sword. the world began to unravel, which prompted demise (the dark realms guardian deity, equivalent to hylia) to seek out a new one. this led him to the light realm - to the triforce left by the golden goddesses.
demise did pretty much the same thing hilda would eventually do, except through much more active bloodshed and conquering. he was fighting to save the world he was tasked with protecting, and he was sealed and killed as a result. his attack led to skyloft, which further delayed the light realm era of chaos (and the sealing of the triforce).
the dark realm was left without a guardian deity. this prompted the giants to offer the people of termina the oath to order. they would sleep in the furthest reaches of the kingdom, and their power would sustain the land - and if the people ever needed their intervention, they could play a song which would awaken them.
they became the new guardians of termina, akin to the role the dragons serve in the light realm. lorule, however, had no being to protect it from the decay caused by the absence of the triforce. so it, slowly, ever so slowly, began to rot.
its probably a good idea to wrap this up now, so im gonna recap everything discussed here really quickly.
- termina is directly west of lorule, both are in the dark world
- the lorule desert is a small section of the ikana desert
- the stone tower temple depicts an inverted lorulian triforce, hinting at its ability to flip
- the thieves town picked up the culture of wearing masks to transform into monsters from termina
- the dark world was created by three dark demons who embodied the virtues of destruction, sorrow, and despair; these virtues were embodied in the dark triforce, and in the flames of the dark rites, the demonic counterpart to the sacred flames
- demise is the dark realm equivalent to hylia, tasked with defending the world
- demise tempered his blade in the flames of the dark rites, as link tempered hylias blade in the sacred flames
- the more aggressive dark realm battles over the triforce earlier, and so destroyed it before the events if skyward sword
- this led to demise seeking out the triforce of the light realm, further delaying the era of chaos in the light realm by forcing the hylians to escape to the skies
- the absence of a guardian being led to the giants delivering the oath to order

ALTERNATIVE ALLEGORY: PUELLA MAGI MADOKA MAGICA yes another one
As a "normal girl", Amy was frustrated with being weak, always being left behind and ignored. Her wish was to become stronger, in hopes that Sonic would finally notice her and to prove herself as capable. Maybe not something worth risking your life over.
She has tarot card based magic. She can also "dowse", able to find labyrinths (and Sonic) with ease.
Of course her weapon is still a big hammer! It's pink and gold and she can summon all different shapes and sizes of them to suit her needs.
Soul gem is stored in the headband... (basically like the warrior feather but without the feather)

Hello friends!
We are back, once again, with our weekly read! This week, we asked the book club to nominate some fics that had less than 200 kudos. We were hunting for gems, hidden under the more popular offerings, and looking to show our love to a fic that maybe didn't get it's due when it was published.
Thrillingly, we chose I Want Ours to be an Endless Song by sunlight_sonata.
This fic has a little bit of everything! 1920s spiritualism, well-crafted banter, a super sweet ending, a little hurt/comfort and a solidly spooky scene in the middle that'll definitely give you the chills!
Rating: T
Summary:
“I promise.” Shane frowns for a moment. Maybe he sees the look on Ryan’s face, because something in his own expression clears. “In fact, let’s make an oath. I swear to never abandon you, Bergara. You’ve got me hooked, goddamn. I don’t know how you’ve done it.”
For one, fleeting moment, Ryan wants to kiss Shane right there in the front yard of this random suburban home. He wants it so much that it terrifies him, and the thought of wanting something so unattainable is such a familiar feeling it’s like it’s never left him. Like his mind is a haunted house where the spirits of “what if” and “maybe” roam the halls and wake him up at night.
“I swear too, big guy,” he manages. “I… yeah. I’m gonna stick around for a while.”
Or, When Ryan puts an ad in the newspaper for a room to rent, he doesn't mention the ghosts. What he ends up with is more than he could ever have bargained for.
Book Club Thoughts
i really enjoyed this one, it was so cute and funny
I love that even though it’s a historical AU, it has a sweet soft happy ending where Ryan’s parents are happy for him and the direction his life has taken
I loved when they were in Shane's classroom and Ryan could just sense the Shane-ness of it, even if Shane hadn't told him it was his.
i truly wish this fic had been like 5x longer lmao but i loved the glimpses we got at the beginning of their relationship and the windows where we saw Ryan beginning to fall in love and how hard he continued to do so
I also think there's this fantastic thing where I think Ryan is very aware during the fic, even before the demon says anything, that Shane likely reciprocates, but he gets in his own fucking way!!!
i really liked the part about how ryan wanted to love the world but he also really wanted the world to love him back. that struck me as very correct.
i enjoyed the little ghost hunt and ryan's little old-timey ghost hunting apparatuses. v fun dowsing rods experience
This was such a nice fic. Sweet and real, just enough angst. Also the creepy bits were wonderful.

Alright, another sleeper, a personal favorite for all the silliness it allows. Hailing from Commander 2020 and never reprinted since, it remains a hidden gem (pun intended) and cheap at around $.5
It's a 3-mana mana rock with upside, one of the first since they started powering them up. It enters tapped, which is a bummer, but doesn't matter if you're curving with it. What upside does this mana rock have? Who knows! It depends on what you have, but also what your opponents have.
If you're very unlucky, it might just tap for any color on the battlefield. More than likely, someone will have a bounceland and it'll tap for two mana, making it a better Worn Powerstone. And then it gains all sorts of fun utility as people tend to have some utility in their manabases. A War Room? Sure! A Homeward Path? Nice to have. A Scavenger Grounds? Now you can hold up graveyard hate too. Or if you're very lucky and there's a Maze of Ith or Lotus Field running around (or you're playing those yourself), jackpot! It also gets all the abilities from the Ixalan fliplands, and a couple of those are common sights around the table, and very interesting to get a copy of. Growing Rites of Itlimoc, Thaumatic Compass, Dowsing Dagger,...
Any deck gets access to it, and I think it should be played more than it is. It is one step behind the Cursed Mirrors, Archaeomancer's Maps and Midnight Clocks of the world.
You might remember I spoke highly of this card in my ONE write-ups, which is the same card keying off graveyards instead of battlefields. I do think Safehouse has a higher floor in higher powered environments, where it can camouflage as a fetchland basically always if need be, but in more casual environments, Refractor is more often useful. Most lands don't leave the battlefield once they touch it.
They're both fun and underrated options though, that I encourage you to try.

Divination | Pendulum |
Pendulum
Also uses a board for “Yes, no, maybe.” Can be used to help lost things [I ended up finding a lost cd that I was looking for]
I mentioned I dislike the ouija board and yet why am I okay with Pendulumn? Best way to describe it is that a spirit board is like a phone call. While a pendulum is like a text message.
The Pendulum has been used for hundreds of years by professionals and lay-people to find hidden treasures, diagnose disease, and locate missing persons. Even gems beneath the earth. Predating the pendulum, dowsing or divining rods were employed to discover where water, oil, or minerals existed underground. The words divining, even though the pendulum's range of use is far more extensive.
Some people say that the pendulum creates a bridge between the logical and intuitive parts of the mind. Some say that the pendulum connects them with a higher power called ‘divining’ as the information is believed to come from a divine source. Research indicates that the pendulum responds to electromagnetic energy that radiates from everything on Earth.
Tips:
Cleanse your work space, clear your mind before beginning. Sit with good posture with your feet flat on the floor. Hold the pendulum loosely in your hand with the pendant dangling.
What use is a pendulum | Gain your information. Subconscious Mind> Your body and cells of your body. Your higher Self [the intuitive part of your spirit]
Other Spirits. | How to Use a Pendulum. Clockwise: Waiting/answer. Anti-clockwise: Waiting/Not available. Yes: An answer/Position. No: Not available/Position.
The pendulum is a simple but effective divination tool that is easy to use, each pendulum connects directly with the user's energy. Basic results can be interpreted with the swings including when the answer is not available.
It is a portal to the highest self which is how the pendulum works but it can be used to connect to others energy. Usually, it can be used to connect to others' energy. Usually it is for the purpose of divination or healing.
Your partner with your pendulum.
To establish how your Pendulum works with you, hold the pendulum over the circle about and ask the following questions to help you establish how best you will work together.
Show me “Yes.” Show me “No.” {Observe and note the direction of movement of each} Show me “Maybe.” If movement is weak, say “Show me a strong____[Yes,no,Maybe]
Then ask the following test question to understand how you will recognise your answer.
Am I (Say your age) ____ Years old? You should get your movement for YES. Then repeat this question, using an incorrect age to check your answer. You should get your movement for NO.
Formulate your own easy test questions to help establish recognition of movement patterns for each answer.
Some people that use a pendulum prefer to start the tool in motion before asking a question. I have found that in holding the tool still and then asking your question, there is less doubt in the answer to the question. ________________________________________________________

To Ko-Boldy Go / Pole Position
(Zoreinak's T10, 4 + 3 + 2d6->5 = 12)
The kobolds of Mountain-Of-Light hear, through rumor and revelation, of other mystical treasures out there, each equal in splendour to their homeland's hoard.
They find no treasure, just an ancient shattered jewel: Tonghattulka, the City of Gems, with its small but sturdy homes and sprawling network of mines underneath. Defenses are restored, homes rebuilt, and ancient tunnels cleared of rubble, and Tonghattulka is inhabited once more: though the kobolds in their tongue name it Crystal-Lake. In time, a split emerges between the kobolds who settled in the old mines and those that dwell in the restored city's homes, with the latter growing increasingly curious about the long-gone builders. These curious kobolds take to the waterways of the northern savannah, exploring every corner of the map in search of relics of the past. The mine-dwellers, meanwhile, believe it is best to let such things lie.
(Command Race 4 pt)
Among the chitin-harnessed lightning that are the Vottaina, a philosophical-religious movement emerges that holds all of reality is the interplay between two opposing forces: It That Attracts, and It That Repels. All life flows from one to the other, and all gods are but mere snarls in this underlying cosmic flow. Dowser-priests, bearing sacred metal slivers, are quick to prove the truth of this all, and moreover discover that one force emanates from the far north, while the other lies opposite it.
...but which is which? How can one tell the difference between a needle pulled from the north and pushed from the south, and one aligned oppositely? The priests do not agree, and a war between the sects nearly breaks out.
But then there appears peace-bringing avatar Ainko, form undisguised and appearing to the priests much like a monolithic dowsing-shard. Ainko declares that attraction and repulsion are illusions: that what pulls one thing may push another, and that all this is but one force that dwells in two places. Thus enlightened, the Vottaina decide to build two great and equal temples on the extremes of the earth, to so commit their newfound wisdom to stone.
Two expeditions soar forth from Vottalanak. The northbound one, destined for Qorha's back, is never heard from again. But the southbound one finds the place where their needles spin without end: a cold and rocky waste at the south end of the Risen Lands, where they found Half Cynosure.
Alas! The Vottaina are of little strength, and the lands go unpeopled. And so, the lightning bugs take off once more, seeking a people to lead to this land...
(Command Avatar -> Command race 4-2 pt. Zoreinak will invest another 2 points into this land: whoever first brings a non-Vottaina race here and aids them in the construction of their temple will be free to claim these points)
(Zoreinak has 4 points left)

Stuber (2019): It's a Lease
Sometimes you find a gem. Stuber (2019) is an action comedy that delivers. It is funny, Stuber screaming, “It’s a lease!” never gets old. This one flew so low under the radar I missed it completely. Writer Tripper Clancy offers up this cop/buddy comedy signposting most of the gags. Director Michael Dowse, the same guy who delivered the brilliant It’s all Gone Pete Tong, makes this one work. It’s…
