The Answer My Friend is Blowing In The Wind. The Answer Is Blowing In The Wind: This man works for the City of Reno. As I write, he is outside my front door spraying Roundup on weeds. To me this is concerning enough. Factor in it's 2 p.m. and there are lots of people (to include children, babies, the elderly, myself and my dog) out and about walking. Ducks, geese, and birds feeding and resting mere feet from where he sprays. This man no sooner sprays a bush then an unwitting dog owne...r walks past and allows his/her animal to stop and sniff. I asked the man if he was spraying poison. He ignored me. I asked again and he replied "I'm spraying Roundup." I called the City and asked them to explain their logic of spraying poison with people and animals direcly underfoot. I was told "Roundup is not dangerous" and they have the official documents on file to support the claim (big money buys a lot of official documents and I don't, for a moment, believe Roundup is not harmful to anything other than weeds. Bullshit). I am far from a bleeding heart. Like many people...I have turned a blind eye to things like this because I didn't 'know what to do. It's easier to do nothing rather than something. As well, I dont want to be one of those people shouting about the ills of the world...but I tell you...poison is poison. Do not be fooled or lulled into complacency. Roundup DOES affect you and your family. It is killing our weeds, yes... but it is also killing our bees and sickening both animals, people, and YOU. This is not acceptable. The picture shows what i have been trying to accomplish. Over the last few years I have been slowly changing my diet. I’ve cut fast food, most processed foods, and almost all refined sugars. Though in the last 6 months, I have made a drastic jump in to vegetarianism and juicing. But not quite fully, I still love sushi and need a nice medium rare steak every now and then. I am doing all of this is to keep in shape and stay healthy. The U.S. population currently has a fight on its hands against GMO foods and Monsanto. The use of pesticides on mass farmed produce and chemical additives in grocery store foods, it looks like buying organic or even growing your own is looking better every day. I’ve had help from my doctor at Maximized Living and other blogs such as www.theearthdiet.org and www.facebook.com/GrowFoodNotLawns. Maximized Living has got me on track by letting my body heal itself without the use of pharmaceuticals. The Earth Diet has lots of recipes with raw food preparations to achieve the best results with nutrient absorption. Grow Food Not Lawns has helped with ideas on gardening in just about anywhere on any budget. There are many others out there and I will continue to find ways to live healthy without processed and chemically altered foods.
