I love how the last shadow dosent make me want to rip my hair out every 2 seconds
#i constantly have to remind myself to not do the thing I did with Enders game which is to say give Orson Scott Card so much benefit of the#doubt that I literally alter the story in my mind. No the Delphici’s don’t speak like that because they were raised at two removed of#humanity and were constantly surrounded by people who would scrutinize their intelligence including their parents so they took up academic#language to receive acceptance and praise and No their speech did not become more natural on lucitania because they we’re finally in an#environment where their intelligence was both not in question but also where people judged them on other characteristics like their#honesty and kindness. They talk like that because Orson Scott Card is a pretentious Asshole who thinks he’s the cleverest little guy and#they stopped speaking like that further into the book because immediately after speaker for the dead Orson Scott Card is the laziest author#known to man and couldn’t be bothered to either write natural diologue on the ship or continue the academic language bit on lucitania or#have this affect the story and characters in a big way.#all of that but about every detail in the last shadow but it’s ok because we get to see more of bean’s kid’s characters through how they#raised their kids.#ender’s game#sorry for the long tags..
