"Oh! I see it now! Your booking is for this date!"
"Perfect." James lets out a sigh of relief.
"Next year." The desk agent adds after a rather cruel pause.
All eyes fall on James, the one you all left in charge of planning your getaway. A decision that feels idiotic now.
James looks like he is trying very hard to not meet at your piercing gazes, as if any of you might have summoned the power to turn him to stone.
"Is it?" James' voice is strained as he speaks, "Okay, my fault, my fault. Honest mistake. I'm sure this happens all the time, yeah?"
"Not really." The desk agent says, a hint of judgement in her tone.
James, with his lips pressed into a flat line and eyes squinted, is failing very hard at not looking peeved at her.
"We should've let Rem do the planning," Sirius says through a yawn, letting his head fall on Remus' shoulder. It was already very late when you arrived at the hotel, and all four of you just wanted to crash in a warm bed. Remus slung his arm around Sirius' shoulders, rubbing his arm as a comfort.
Meanwhile, you shift your footing as you move your heavy bag from one shoulder to the other, your impatience and fatigue clearly growing.
James paid Sirius’ comment no mind, his attention all on you as eyes flick your way when he notices your discomfort in his peripheral vision. Wordlessly, he takes your bag off your arm and slings it over his own.
"We can fix this, can't we?" James asks, "Can we move that booking to today?"
"We don't do that for bookings that didn't pay the insurance fee, and it says here that you didn't pay the insurance fee. That also means the trip is non-refundable as well."
"Okay!” James feels an eye twitch coming on, “Fine, what rooms aren't booked? We'll just book new rooms, no big deal," James' says, his own growing impatience evident in his tone. He pulls a credit card from his wallet and taps it restlessly on the stone counter.
You and Remus stand there wide eyed, about to protest, while Sirius begins to look for his own wallet. James waves Sirius off and reassures you and Remus with an "I've got it."
The desk agent ignores the slight commotion as she reads from her screen, "Well, you're in luck. We have two queen rooms left."
"Wait," you interject, "Queen rooms? Because one of them needs to be a double."
"Those are the last rooms available." She confirms.
"Well, is there a pull-out sofa in either of them? A regular sofa? Anything?" You ask, desperation growing as the agent shakes her head at all of your suggestions, "A cot we can roll into the room even?"
"We ran out," she says, tone laced with faux sympathy.
"Well, one bed is fine with us, obviously," Sirius smirks, wiggling his eyebrows. Yet again, he is ignored. Well, not by Remus, who squeezes his shoulder.
James faces you and puts a gentle hand on your arm, "Hey, it'll be fine. We'll figure it out when we get up there, yeah?"
You sigh, but digress with a simple nod.
As soon as James says "We'll take them" the agent is listing off the price for the rooms for the duration of your stay.
"Wait, wait, wait!" James tries to stop her.
You jaw goes slack, "What?"
"Sorry?" tumbles from Remus' lips at the same time.
Sirius is the only one who looks unbothered, his eyes flicking between you and Remus as he asks, "Is that supposed to be a lot?"
"That's wildly more expensive than what we paid originally,” you protest. "The old price is only worth one night of this new price!"
"Oh, I remember why we didn't let Moony do the booking," Sirius comments, and the reason for the price difference suddenly dawns on you.
James looks at you with a sheepish grin as the wheels turn in your head. James and Sirius clearly took the brunt of the expenses, letting you and Remus only pay your share for a single night, passing it off as the full price.
"James!" You ridicule.
"We wanted you guys to be able to stay somewhere nice for once!" He defends stridently.
"First of all, offensive. And second of all, there are nice hotels that don't cost over a thousand dollars a night!"
"It's endearing that you think that's a lot for two rooms."
"Once again, offensive!"
"So, will you be taking the rooms?" The agent interjects.
James doesn't break eye contact with you, his lips molding into a cheeky grin as he slides his credit card across the desk, "Yes, we will."
Tumblr media
When you reach the room, the site of the single bed makes you huff indignantly, but you had to admit that the room was pretty nice. And just by looking at the bed you could tell it's comfortable.
"They could have totally fit a couch in here," you take notice of how spacious the room is. "Five hundred dollar rooms should come with couches. You're getting scammed, James."
James chuckles as he places both of your bags on the floor.
"We have a desk," he says as if it's helpful, "a TV, wardrobe..."
"None of which are particularly useful right now," you comment.
James shrugs, approaching the inviting bed. He starts picking up pillows and dropping them on the floor.
"What are you doing?" you ask, moving to stand next to him.
"Makin' a place to sleep," he answers.
"No! No way, you're not sleeping on the floor!" you protest.
"You made it pretty clear you wanted separate places to sleep," James says.
"Well yes, but you should have the bed. I feel bad enough as it is that you've paid for this whole thing twice, I couldn't live with myself if I let you sleep on the floor."
"And I'm too much of a gentleman to let a lady sleep on the floor," he says as he lowers himself to the ground, laying his head on the pillows, "I've always been partial to a firm bed anyway."
"James! No way!"
"Listen, the only way I'm sleeping in that bed is if we both are, otherwise-"
"Fine,” you say sharply.
"Wait, what?"
You put your hands on your hips, "I said fine! But keep those pillows on your side, you've tainted them with the floor."
James watches as you saunter off to the bathroom, retrieving your toothbrush and pajamas from your bag on your way. The whole time, he remained on the floor, too stunned to move.
Of course, when James heard there would only be one bed, he was secretly a little excited, which may or may not have to do with the little (not so little) crush he has on you. But when you expressed concern over the situation, he knew immediately that he'd be sleeping on the floor, and sharing a bed with you would have to remain a lovely little dream. When he suggested otherwise just now, it was just banter and a way to get you to agree to him sleeping on the floor. He didn't actually mean it. But then you said fine.
James' fingertips fiddle with the fibers of the carpet as he contemplates this, still lying on the floor. He replays the moment in his head, checking his memory for your tone. Did you sound annoyed? Uncomfortable? James really does not want to make you uncomfortable. Even the possibility that he has makes him want to punch himself.
You were suddenly standing over James again in a fresh set of pajamas, "Why are you still on the floor?"
"You meant it?" The words tumble from James' mouth as if they were one.
“Yes, James, I’m not going to let you sleep on the floor.”
“But are you okay with it?” James clarified.
“What do you mean?”
“This isn’t gonna be uncomfortable for you? You were really concerned about the prospect of sharing a bed. If this is gonna make you uncomfortable, well, I’d rather beg Sirius and Remus to let me sleep on the foot of their bed like a dog.”
You chuckle at the image of James curled up by Remus and Sirius’ feet.
“Yes, James. I’m okay with it. What would make me feel uncomfortable is you sleeping on the floor whilst I’m alone in a bed big enough for two. Honest.”
“Okay, if you’re sure.”
“I’m sure. Now would you please get up from the floor?”
James sticks his hands up like a child, wiggling his fingers at you. You roll your eyes, but the way your lips curl up at the corners reveal you’re not truly annoyed with him.
You grab hold of James’ hands and heave him up, stumbling back a bit once you’ve got him upright. James helps steady you before he goes off to get ready for bed.
Meanwhile, you begin to tuck under the covers.
Lying in a bed has never felt so unnatural. You try fluffing the pillows, lying on either side and your stomach before returning to your back, taking the covers off of one leg then putting them back on—nothing feels right.
Deep down, you knew it wasn’t the bed that was the problem but rather your nerves. The reason you were originally so concerned about having to sleep in the same bed as James is your little (not so little) crush on the boy. Just thinking about it made your heart race and you were sure you wouldn’t survive the night. You couldn’t even believe it was really happening until James pads back into the room from the bathroom and begins to join you.
You watch as he picks the pillows up from the floor, brushes them off, and places them back on the bed. Your body stiffens when he climbs in after them.
James is getting under the covers when he freezes, “You sure you’re okay with this?”
“Yes, James. If I start to not be okay with it I promise I’ll kick you out.” You were lying but apparently it was convincing enough for James to resume settling into the bed.
Before completely settling in, James reaches towards the switch for the lamp. He pauses as he asks, “Ready for lights out?”
“Mhm,” you hum, too afraid to speak in case your voice might be high pitched and riddled with nerves.
With your confirmation, James hits the switch and you’re engulfed in darkness.
Your eyes screw shut as you feel the bed creak and shift while James gets comfortable. When he stops, you feel the hairs stick up on the back of your neck.
You open your eyes, letting them adjust to the darkness before you strain them by attempting to look at James without moving your neck. You can just barely see the position he’s chosen.
“Are you-? Are you facing me?”
“Yeah.”
“Could you maybe not?”
“Oh, yeah. Yeah sorry.”
You feel the bed creak again one final time as James settles down on his back.
Upon some reflection, James realizes it is probably weird to face the person you’re platonically sharing a bed with. He just couldn’t help it. In his fantasies, you’d both face each other and have hushed conversations that would keep you up late. You’d be laughing and giggling with each other through the night, scooting closer as you did, until you found yourselves drifting off in each other’s arms.
Instead, you both lay stiffly on your backs, as close to your respective edges of the bed as you could get. It’s not James’ ideal situation, but he’s giddy nonetheless, craning his neck to steal glances at you often until he falls asleep.
You assume James is a restless sleeper, not thinking anything else of the way his head keeps moving back and forth, making shuffling noises against his pillow.
When there hasn’t been any shuffling noises for a few minutes, you let out a breath you’d been holding back. You didn’t want to make any noise at all while James was still awake, as if that would make it seem like you weren’t there at all.
Now that James is asleep and can no longer perceive you, you let your stiff muscles relax into the mattress and take a deep breath. You try to close your eyes and drift off, but they frustratingly shoot open a few moments later. Sleep would not be possible so long as your heart keeps beating the way that it does.
You look at James through the corner of your eyes, noticing the way his chest rises and falls steadily. You try to match his breaths, convinced that if you breathe like a sleeping person you’ll be able to fall asleep to.
Unfortunately, it was useless. Nothing could soothe the knots in your stomach, nor dull the sensation of James’ presence burning like a steady flame at your side. You’ll have to just accept it—so long as the boy of your dreams is next to you, you won’t be getting much sleep.
Tumblr media
By the third day of your trip, your exhaustion was painfully obvious.
On the first, you were yawning all day, but you were able to brush it off as no big deal.
The second day you fell asleep on the beach the moment your back hit the sandy towel. Sirius and Remus had to endure all of James' fussing over the fact that you could get sunburnt. When James was spraying aerosol sunscreen over you, both concerned that you hadn't reapplied yet and wanting to let you sleep, the wind blew the spray right into Sirius' face. He snatched the t-shirt you were using to cover your face from the sun at once, startling you awake with a shout that it was time to reapply.
Today, day three, is a pool day, and you were nearly drifting off again. This time, it was happening while you’re in the water, your head resting atop your folded arms that drape over the pool's edge.
James is watching you carefully from his spot on a pool chair, making sure you didn’t actually fall asleep in the water. His concern for your safety and need to rest clashing yet again.
Sirius and Remus join James in adjacent pool chairs with drinks from the hotel’s Tiki Bar, but James pays them no mind as they sit down.
“Alright, James?” Remus asks.
“Yeah,” James responds, not taking his eyes off you.
“You seem tense.” Remus points out, “You do know we’re on vacation, right?”
“I’m worried that if I look away she’ll fall asleep and drown.” James voices his concerns.
“Eh, but if you let her you'll get to give her mouth to mouth,” Sirius jokes, and he’s the only one who laughs at it. Though, Remus does give into an amused head shake.
“Why’s she been so tired anyway?” Remus asks.
“Dunno,” James replies, “I don’t think she sleeps much. Every morning I wake up she’s already up and out of the bed, ready for the day.”
“How is the single bed life treating you?” Sirius teases, wiggling his eyebrows.
James purses his lips, “It’s… not exactly how I pictured it.”
“Ooh and how’d you picture it?” Sirius asks suggestively, earning a slap on the arm from Remus.
“I may have been holding out hope for the morning we’d wake up wrapped up in each other’s arms. Or the night where we’d stay up talking and we’d scooch closer and closer until we couldn’t deny the tension between us anymore and we’d kiss and fireworks would go off outside our window.”
“Oh. Wow.” Remus’ comments when James concludes his wistful rambles, finding them to be... interesting.
“Quite the hopeless romantic, are you?” Sirius teases.
James sighs, frowning, “Wanna know what happens instead? We lay stiff as boards, as far apart as possible, staring at the ceiling in silence until I fall asleep. No late night chats and no surprise morning cuddles.”
What James doesn't know that you have woken up curled up against him, his arms comfortably at around your waist, holding you flush against his side. It happened after the first night, and you quickly but carefully peeled yourself out of the bed the minute you came to. The possibility of that happening again and James being the one to wake up first terrified you, making it that much harder for you to get sleep at night. When you did sleep, it was extremely lightly, and you often woke up constantly to make sure you hadn’t accidentally drifted over to his side of the bed.
Remus squints at James, finding his longing quite painful to watch. James should just talk to you, Remus thinks.
"She looks like she's really dozing off, now," Remus says to help him along.
James' spine straightens with alarm, "You think!?" he asks, standing at once to jog to your rescue.
When you hear James' feet pad against the ground, you look up, eliciting a sigh of relief from him.
"Hey," he said softly as he slows his approach, "you're scaring me, over here."
"Scaring you?"
James sits on the edge of the pool next to you, letting his legs dip into the water, "This just isn't the safest place for you to fall asleep."
"I'm not falling asleep," you protest, but a yawn betrays you.
James shakes his head, light chuckles falling from his lips. When he settles with a sigh, he says, "You're exhausted, love. Can I ask what's going on?"
"Nothing's going on," you say, your eyebrows twitching together in confusion.
"Then why aren't you sleeping at night?" James' lips tug down in the corners.
"I am sleeping," you insist softly.
"Not enough, clearly. What is it? I'm not making you uncomfortable, am I? Because you can still kick me to the curb."
"No, I'm not uncomfortable, James," you look away from him bashfully. You really wish James wouldn't pry about this, you had no excuse, besides your feelings for him, which is one you definitely couldn't use. You chew your lip as you attempt to think of another.
James raises an eyebrow at your behavior, "You're certainly acting uncomfortable. Did I do something wrong?" His tone is dejected, like he's sad that you don't feel at ease around him.
You feel bad instantly, not wanting to be the cause of his low spirits. Your head snaps to look at him, "No! It's not that!"
"Then what?" James shakes his head. He studies you, trying to determine what could possibly be wrong. His eyes bore into yours and you feel yourself instinctively shrinking away from him. Your fingers start to fiddle with the string bracelet that you're wearing, arms still resting on the edge of the pool, though you have stood up straighter now.
His features smooth over in realization as he notices your behavior isn't exactly coming from a place of discomfort, although, he was close.
"Oh. You're nervous around me, aren't you?"
"What!? Of course not," you say quickly, yet your head dips down and you won't meet his gaze once again.
James decides to test the theory. He pushes himself up with the heels of his palms and lowers himself into the pool next to you. He stands in the water, close enough for his chest to lightly brush against your arm.
His voice is low when he speaks, "Look at me."
You barely move your head, just enough to see him comfortable if you look through the corner of your eyes. James' hand settles under your chin to guide your head the rest of the way. His gaze feels scrutinizing, and James catches the way you chew on the inside of your cheek.
"You're absolutely nervous," he decides, and there's a glimmer of hope in his eyes, "Why?"
"It's like you're trying to make me uncomfortable. Do you want to sleep on the floor or something?"
"No, I just want to sleep with you," he blurts without thinking.
You veer back from him and his hands immediately fly up in surrender.
James, suddenly the more flustered one of the two of you, speaks frantically, "Not like–! I didn't mean it like that!"
"And how exactly did you mean it?" you ask, taken completely aback.
"I want to hold you. I want to fall asleep with you in my arms," he rambles, "I- I want to be with you, god, I like you."
You're shocked into silence. James' eyes desperately dart across your features, looking for any kind of reaction or sign.
Once he starts looking a little hopeless the words are ripped from your throat, "I like you too. I want all of that too."
James puffs out a breath in disbelief. His lips begin to tug up into a mischievous grin, his hand finding solace on the bare skin of your lower back below the water.
"And if I said I want to kiss you?" he asks quietly.
You swallow your nerves, "I'd say I want that too."
James' free hand finds the back of your head in an instant, using the leverage to pull you into him as he laces his fingers through your hair.
Later that night, James is the one who doesn't get much sleep, too giddy over the fact that he finally gets to hold you.

CW: Same as before in Part 1. Just more plot here really. No NSFW
Tumblr media
Hot water never felt so good. My muscles eased as it glided over my shoulders and down my back, the steam from the shower drifted up and over the flimsy curtain that separated the tiny tiled space from the rest of the bathroom. It had been my plan to clean off the sweat and grime from yesterday the moment I got into my room last night, however the moment my head hit the pillow on the cot I was out.
It was a much needed rest, and though I really only got a handful of hours sleep, I wasn’t going to start complaining. The room I had been set up in was nice. Assumedly slightly larger than the others, with being at the very end of the hallway. There was a steel desk welded to the wall where another bunk would have sat normally, and I’m sure it made for a good place to study. Although with how lacking this particular home base was with any medical professionals- I doubt I’d be doing more studying then I would actual practice.
I unloaded only the basics this morning, never really making a habit of unpacking or filling out a space for too long. I quickly towel dried and dressed myself in the uniform I laid on the neatly made bed. Classical tactical pants and thick mock neck combo. My medic badge from my jacket flashed brightly against the rest of the dark colors, and I ran a hand through my hair to push it from my face as it dried.
The tablet I also took out earlier dinged from it’s place on the desk, I threw my boots on before I made my way over, sitting on the creaky metal chair. It scraped against the stone floor as I scooted it closer.
A new message popped up in my dashboard. It was an email confirmation for the transferring of my records from my old Sergeant to Captain Price, and a note that I’d be working solely under his jurisdiction. When I tapped on his icon however, nothing but an error message showed up. It was almost as if he wasn’t in the system. I went to the search bar and typed in Johnny, but no one stationed this far east came up.
I tried ‘Soap’. Nothing.
My fingers itched over the keys.
‘Konig’ I typed, unsure at first how to even spell it. Yet again, nothing. A KORTAC tag popped up for a moment, but being another national division I didn’t have clearance for any of that information.
I sighed, how was I meant to treat them if I didn’t know anything about them? If there were no files on anyone I’d met so far. I racked my brain to try to think of any other names I might have heard yesterday but nothing else came to mind. I glanced at the clock- 04:03.
“Well, since I’m up already..” I mumbled out loud to myself and turned to strap my pack on, shoving the tablet inside the bigger pocket. Maybe Soap would have more information, I could ask him to schedule a briefing with Captain Price and I. Something I was surprised I’d heard nothing about since landing, surely if they requested someone they’d at least fill them in.
Pulling my door shut and entering the hall, I was even more surprised to see it packed and bustling with early morning energy. Men had their doors open and some were half dressed- yelling across the hall at someone else. I did my best to keep my eyes mostly to the ground, and thankfully, was able to leave the testosterone fueled building without bumping in to anyone.
That wasn’t however- the case as I swung the double doors open to the outside. I immediately ran into the side of another soldier, dressed in all black and a hoodie that’s seen better days. He had a balaclava on also, the warmth from his breath fogged up into the air as he huffed from my intrusion. His snapped to mine and my breath hitched in my throat- if looks could kill.
His mask had been altered, a white skull painted onto the front made him even more intimidating.
Suddenly I forgot how words worked.
“Mack!” Someone shouted and I was almost too afraid to drag my eyes away from the behemoth in front of me.
“Mack!” The voice said again and a large hand cupped my shoulder, “Oi lass- I thought you wouldn’t join us.”
“Us?” I was able to meakly force out, my gaze finally settling over Soap, dressed in track pants and an almost matching hoodie. Must have been military issued.
His big dorky smile found it’s way up onto his cut face again. “Aye, I see you’ve met ghost.” He turned the both of us back to the brick wall of a man from before and punched at his shoulder lightly.
“C’mon now, don’t scare away the newbies.” Soap teased and I felt incredibly small between them, eyes wide in the relative darkness.
This ‘Ghost’ just gawffed in response to him, turning away slightly to avoid either of our faces.
Soap turned back to me, “You’re not runnin in that are ye?” He asked, motioning to my boots and tactical pants- filled to the brim with gaze, electrical tape, and whatever other medical supplies I could fit. I shook my head at him.
“Uh no,” I spoke, finding my voice once again. It was slightly scratchier from the morning cold. “I was hoping to do some inventory in the infirmary, y’know get stock of everything or whatever.”
He nodded but still let out a laugh. “Not here a full 24 hours yet and ye ‘already thinking too much. I know what you need.” He handed me a bottle that he pulled out of nowhere, emptied of its original water, and re-filled with some chunky looking slush.
I scoffed, the man to my right suddenly forgotten in the background. “There’s no way I’m drinking that.” I was 100% sure whatever was in that was in no shape healthy.
“Suit yer’self.” He said and took a swig of the concoction, letting out a forced sounding ‘Ahhh’ after his swallow. I let a laugh escape me and he eyed me from the side, turning to face ghost.
“Well if you don’t want to join us then maybe you’ll play score keeper. Here.” He handed me a small black notebook, opened to a page scribbled with tally marks. One side labeled ‘SOAP’ and the other ‘GHOST’ with a poorly drawn skull next to it.
“First to make a lap around the entire base, and touch that center pole there,” He pointed to a floodlight that sat in the middle of the courtyard between both buildings. “Wins.” He turned to Ghost who was already stretching one leg out behind him- getting into a sprint position.
“GO!” He shouted.
They both took off in a full sprint and veered right some, ghost reached out to give soap a push that made him stumbled slightly, giving ghost the lead as they wrapped around a building out of sight. Yells and other Scottish noises could be heard echoing through space and bouncing off walls. I let a smile fall on my face as I looked back down at the notebook.
Not wanting to peer too much into his privacy I thumbed over the random doodles and put a pen in the crack of the page, saving my place as I closed the book in my hand.
Some other men took after them as well, and that’s when I noticed the small crowd from inside slowly made their way out onto the yard. Doing random warmups and exercises, but mainly trying to keep up with the race I’m sure.
It was cute.
And it probably boosted morale too, which was always a good thing. My hopes for this place slowly began to rise as I looked around some more. I shifted from my spot slightly before I caught something in the back corner of my eye. A familiar figure stood hunched slightly, resting against the corner of the main building, he had his eyes at his hands, a small book similar to Soaps, and was scribbling something down.
He glanced up as I approached him, myself not even half-aware that I was until we made eye contact. He snapped his book closed and stood up straighter- easing his hand that held the book behind him. My eyes followed the movement.
“Were you drawing?” I asked, where I found the courage to randomly strike up conversation I’ve no idea.
His fingers thumbed the crease of his book and as he hesitated answering. Crap, was I pushing too much?
“Yes.” He spoke out after another moment.
“Cool.” I muttered, feeling like a child at the playground, feeblishly attempting to make friends. I didn’t meet his eyes again, but instead settled at looking at the mask he wore. I hadn’t noticed it yesterday, but there were bleach stains just under the holes that kind of represented tears.
What was everyone’s deal with wearing scary masks?
“How’s your cut doing?” I glanced up at him and his eyes were already on mine, they widened slightly when I spoke- like I had caught him off guard. I tried to contort my face into a pleasant look.
He stood unblinkingly at me for a moment. Then his eyes shifted up behind me and hardened ever so slightly. Stomps grew loud and rapidly approached us. I turned to see as Soap and Ghost made their way across the courtyard in full sprint. Soap moved with an ease and swiftness that I was instantly jealous of. Ghost was just a hair behind him, arm and fingers outstretched. He grabbed onto Soap by the back of his hoodie and pulled just hard enough to give him forward momentum to touch the base of the lamp just before Soap could.
The Scott swung around as they came to a stop and immediately turned to me.
“Did you see that!” His eyes were wide and he looked astonished.
Ghost joined him at his side and they slowly made their way towards where I stood with Konig.
“Bile yer hide!” He shouted followed by some more Scottish noises and pushed at Ghost in a friendly but competitive way. “You cheated.”
“You never set any rules, Jonny.” Ghost’s voice was gravely and he was slightly out of breath. Steam rose off the both of them in a comical way as they both huffed. I handed soap back his notebook when they got within arms distance.
“And you, lass? You saw what he did right?” Soap pleaded in a thick accent and looked almost childlike with big puppy eyes. I raised my hands up in defeat.
“Unfortunately I was talking to Konig here, so I didn’t see much.” I held in a laugh as he responded with another Scottish phrase that probably didn't translate over too pretty.
His eyes rose to the man behind me, and I could feel his larger frame against my back. His body heat wrapped itself around me and I had to stop the shiver that ran up my spine. Something in Soaps demeanor seemed to change slightly as the two of them made eye contact with the other, and he turned to tap Ghost out, their feud dead now. He signaled that they should go inside with a tip of his head. I watch slightly confused as the two of them turned and made their way back to the barracks- soap mingling a little with the others on his way past.
“Oh wait-“ I almost shouted, but the two of them were already halfway across the area, their larger bodies taking two of my strides in one. My hand hung in the air awkwardly. Damnit, I meant to ask him about Price.
I sighed and Konig cleared his throat behind me, reminding me of his presence. I turned to face him and I hadn’t realized how close we were standing together until I had to crane my head back in order to find his eyes. Which were already on mine, naturally.
I let in a sharp inhale, the cold and crisp air bit at the inside of my throat. God it gets cold here at night. The sky was brighter now then when I first came out though, and eventually the sun would rise and heat up the dunes again. Something I wasn’t particularly looking forward to, so I tried to enjoy the cool air while I could.
Konig cleared his throat again awkwardly and I realized I was staring at him, heat quickly warmed up my face and I moved my line of sight back down to the center of his chest.
“You are close with him?” He asked, a little too seriously to just be a curious question. I took a step back so I didn’t have to bend my neck so much when I looked up at him.
“Who, Soap?”
He nodded, the fabric of the mask shook under his movement.
“Oh no,” I corrected. “I arrived yesterday, that’s the first time I met him. Or well, any of you really.” I looked around, most of the men had started to fill into the main building now. Some came out to sit on the benches to eat their breakfast. Others started training in groups or faux fighting in pairs out in the courtyard.
“It is easy for you to talk, to him.” He said matter-of-factly.
I shook my head and corrected him again, “Not really, I’m not the best for conversation really.” I chuckled. I let out a little ‘hmm’ of conviction when he didn’t respond and gestured over to the entrance doors.
“So shall we take a look at you then?” I asked, he nodded and followed behind me to the room we were in before. The doors squeaked shut after us and I could feel everyone’s eyes on the pair of us, Konig followed so close at my back that I could feel the shift of his gear as he walked. Though I suppose being as tall as he was he drew eyes from everywhere anyway, I did my best to brush it off.
We made out way into the infirmary relatively smoothly after clearing through the cafeteria and other crowded rooms, and settled more comfortably in this room. Just the two of us.
My face heated up again at that thought.
Konig hovered by the door as I went to the desk in the back to unload. Tossing my bag up onto the counter I unzipped it and pulled out various items, trying to distract myself by taking account of what I had brought with me.
I glanced back at him, then in the far corner of the room where there hung a single curtain from the slide on the ceiling, a lonely cot sat behind it. I pointed over to it with my finger, “You don’t have to lock the door again, just have a seat over there I’ll be over in a second.”
I didn’t watch him, but I could hear as he crossed the room in less than three long strides. There was something slightly comforting about how quickly he could move. If I ever needed it, I knew who I’d use as a bodyguard. The bed creaked under his weight as he sat, and I took the chance to glance at him from the corner of my eye. He pulled the curtain closed just enough to block him from view of the door, and tucked the bottom of his mask up into his helmet so that only his lower jaw and neck were exposed. I found myself missing the sight of his lips.
I shook my head to get rid of those thoughts and his eyes drew back to mine to follow every movement I made.
The room was silent as I pulled my tablet out, opening an empty file and labeling it ‘Konig’.
“Since you’re here do you mind if we do a physical? I mean I don’t really know what equipment is here, so you’ll have to bear with me for a bit.” I hovered a pen over the screen and turned to face him slightly, his eyes traced down my body and settled on where my hip rested against the edge of the desk.
He nodded slowly and clasped his hands together in front of him, falling into a gentle slouch. His figure was so tall and built that he was probably used to constantly trying to make himself appear smaller and less intimidating. I appreciated the gesture.
“Good.” I mumbled and his eyes snapped back up to my face. I pulled out another alcohol wipe and approached his side. “Tip your chin up to me please, I’ll change these bandages.”
He did what I asked without resistance, and as my hands cupped his face he was less stiff then he was yesterday. I let a gentle smile find my face, glad I’m capable of creating a soothing environment. I slowly peeled off the old tape and gauze against his body and snapped on some gloves before reapplying new ones. The cut looked significantly better today.
“Y’know I don’t think it’ll even scar, Konig.”
“König.” He corrected softly, his German made it easier for him to pronounce then I could.
“Koo-nick.” I tried again, snipping off small squares of excess tape from his face.
The mask shifted above him as he huffed out through his nose in a little laugh. I thought I could see the faintest tip at the corner of his lips, I wished I could pull up the dark fabric to watch him smile- but I wouldn’t push his boundaries like that. Especially not when it seemed he just started to ease up with me.
“Close,” his voice was soft as he spoke to me, and the little praise sent butterflies straight to my stomach. I removed my hands from his skin and cast my eyes anywhere but his, settling on the tablet I brought over. “König.” He said again. “Do you know any German?” He asked.
I hummed a ‘no’ and sat myself on the little black stool, rolling back over to him, tablet open on my lap in front of me. Now that we were both sitting, he was still taller than me and I went up to just about his shoulders.
He leaned forward, elbows resting on his knees. If I shifted over just slightly, I could brush our legs together.
“It means King.”
“I don’t doubt that.” I said as I made a show to size him up again with my eyes. He shrunk a bit under my gaze, but still relatively hovered over me in a relaxed way.
“So King,” I mused and his eyes lit up at mine, “How tall are you?”
“82 inches.”
A low whistle escaped me and I noticed the more I probed for questions the faster he bounced his boot or wrung his fingers together. After a solid ten minutes or so of recounting his medical history and any procedures he had done, he settled on pulling his tags from under the collar of his shirt. I quickly jotted down his blood type and leaned back with a heavy sigh.
“I think that’s all then.” I mused and his eyes never left my face. I tipped my head up at him and intentionally gave him a bright smile, those bright blue eyes grew wide and snapped across the room, suddenly looking everywhere but mine. I stifled a laugh and rolled back over to the desk about a foot away from where he sat. Glad for some distance as the room seemed to grow warm.
“I hope to take some blood samples later, maybe today or sometime later this week so, don’t go to far okay?” I turned back over to him and crossed my legs up top the other.
He stood and re-settled the mask back over his face like it had been before and nodded. He turned to me just before he reached the door, one hand on the handle.
“I hope you like it here, Maus.” He said in a gentle and promising way, my face flushed and he quickly turned to leave, the door falling shut in his wake.
‘I hope you like it here,’
‘Maus.’ Rang between my ears.
Was I just given a nickname?
____
Kicking my feet and giggling the entire time I was writing this. The soap ghost race? C’mon guys GUYS guys pls. Also 82 inches is 6’10, I don’t actually know if that’s cannon but someone on TikTok said it so it must be real right?
Feedback apreciated

A Thenamesh Gladiator AU!
there are a few kingdoms. And every kingdom has 3 strong gladiators. And I think once a week or once a month there is this big competition between the kingdoms. And the winner gets a big price. So Thena is a princess in her Kingdom and Gil is one of her Gladiators. And she has a crush on him.
One day the Kingdom of Eros challenges Thenas, if he wins the competition she will marry him. If she wins she can choose who she wants to marry.
"Fetch my mother, tell her he has awakened."
"Yes, my Lady."
Gilgamesh groaned as he did his best to pull himself up on the cot provided to him. All he remembered was the last fight dragging on for far too long. The opposing gladiators were freakishly strong this year. Even he was having trouble with them. Gil startled, "d-did I lose?!"
"No," she soothed, kneeling down on a pillow next to his cot. She raised up a bowl, tilting his head to offer him water. "You won."
He let out a sigh, the relief reaching so deep it was in his bones. He was a champion of plenty of tournaments before this one, but losing this time especially was not acceptable.
"But I want you to forfeit."
Now he did shoot up in bed, although his bones and wounds screamed at him for it. He doubled over, holding his bruised ribs. His hand met bandaging, which still had some traces of blood on them.
"You see?"
Oh, did he. It seemed whenever they were together, all he could see was her: Thena.
"You were lucky to emerge alive after your last fight," she frowned at him, sitting back on her knees on the pillow (which she must have moved to his bedside herself). "If mother were not the master healer she is, I'm sure you would be in the same state as your opponent."
Gil had no sympathy for his opponent--not for the gladiators chosen by the visiting prince, nor Eros himself. He was the very reason Gilgamesh had to fight harder than ever before. "Princess-"
"Gilgamesh, I am quite serious," she persisted, pinning him under her glare, as green as the Adriatic Sea. "You are in no state to fight Kro."
Kro was quickly becoming a name in this tournament as Prince Eros' champion. He was also becoming known for his cruelty in battle.
"I'll get some sleep and I'll be fine."
"You could sleep for a month and not be ready to fight that monster," Thena argued, setting down her ceramic of water rather roughly.
Gil raised his brow at her, "I didn't realise you lacked faith in me, my Lady."
"Gil," she cut him off, and his given name was effective in silencing him. Her hands fisted in the fine, draping white fabric of her dress. "That man is a creature not of man's make. He...he will kill you. And he will make me watch."
"Hey, hey," Gil shook his head, rushing to comfort the shaken princess. He had seen her worry about him before, but he had never seen her so genuinely frightful. "That won't happen. I won't let it."
Thena lifted her head, looking at him with those eyes again. "And are you so omniscient? That you could control a man without honour or even a human heart in his chest?"
Gil sighed. His poetic princess was right, he couldn't guarantee that the fight tomorrow would go his way. He was not only exhausted and injured, but he was emotionally invested. And any expert on battle would say that it was a weakness for him to bear, not a strength.
"Please," Thena whispered, looking down at her trembling hands. She squeezed her eyes shut, a tear falling onto her robes. "I don't want you to get hurt, Gil. I-I couldn't bear it if you were..."
It was a funny conflict of feelings, feeling overjoyed that she would care so much as to weep over him, but not wanting to see her weep at all. He reached out, tipping her chin up to look at him. "Do you remember when we first met?"
She smiled, blinking away tears a princess couldn't afford to shed. "You were walking into the Colosseum. Plenty of gladiators had looked up at us before, but you smiled, and then you waved. I suppose I found it too tempting to resist waving back."
Gil smiled as well. He did treasure that memory; the first instance in which he had seen the Thena behind the crown. And he liked what he saw. "No, I mean the next time--when we met properly."
It had been after his first fight. He was arguably the strongest of the new gladiators in training, but initiation was also to fight a lion. He had not exactly come out unscathed.
But he had also refused to kill the lion. It was cruel and barbaric he stated proudly. It wasn't that poor creature's fault that it had been captured, now forced to fight off strange men for its meals.
Thena had been the one to declare the end of that practice. She had ordered the lion's release, as well as the tending of Gilgamesh's wounds. It was then that he had first spoken to her. He was being tended to a cot much like the one he was lying on now.
The glowing princess had knelt down, as close to him as the bars separating them would allow. She was royalty, and to be so close to a lowly trainee would be beneath her, after all. But he had watched her raise two fingers, hooking them over one of the gate bars tenderly.
"Are you hurt?"
Every time hearing her voice was like hearing it that first time; he never tired of it.
"Nah," he had chuckled, taking on such a casual tone with the princess that the medics tending to him had gasped in horror. "Not so bad."
But she had smiled.
Thena looked up at him now, a long way from that first night she knelt by his side in the bowels of the Colosseum. "I asked what I might do to help your healing."
"And I said?" he raised a brow at her, still relishing the feeling of her skin against his thumb.
Thena dropped her eyes, offering exasperation with her reluctant smile. It was faint, but it was true. "My smile was help enough."
"See?" he chuckled, letting his fingers pull away from her oh-so reluctantly. Maybe he could keep the feeling of touching her in his mind as motivation. "I'll be better before you know it."
She shook her head at him, her golden locks tousling beautifully around her shoulders. "Mother will not let you go back into battle because of a smile."
"And I'm not going to let that ingrate marry you."
Thena sighed, as if she could have somehow forgotten about the outlandish circumstances of this year's prize. Her hands folded on her lap again. "I suppose I have no desire to fulfill that agreement either."
"So it's decided," Gilgamesh said with absolute certainty, regardless of the pain in his side or the burn of his hands from gripping his sword. "I'll fight tomorrow. And I'll win."
Thena stared down between them, neither agreeing nor having another argument in her against it.
"I'll win, Thena," he insisted, reaching down to take one of her hands in his. The golden bangles around her delicate wrists clinked in contrast to the leather guards that sat around his. "I promise you. You'll be no one's prize."
She managed another smile, giving his hand the faintest squeeze in return. "Are you saying I am no prize?"
Gil inhaled. He knew that she was offering a joke to lighten his mood in return. But he couldn't resist; he raised her hand to his lips. "No, you are not the prize. The prize is getting to live, just so I can see that smile another day."
The princess stared at him, silent after a little poetry of his own. "Gil-"
"Gilgamesh," the queen greeted as she walked in, although she blinked when her daughter rushed to stand so quickly she swayed to gain her balance. Ajak tilted her head, "Thena."
"Mother," Thena greeted her, sounding breathless as if she had run here as well. Her hand toyed with her luxurious golden hair. "I was--we were awaiting your arrival."
"Right," Ajak muttered, going to the gladiator's side to check his wounds. There was already a pillow at his bedside (how convenient).
Thena watched quietly, her hands perched on the edge of the cot.
Ajak kept quiet as Gilgamesh's fingers snuck ever so subtly over to just barely brush against Thena's. She could choose to ask them about it, if she so desired. She was the queen, after all. And she had witnessed her daughter's fondness for this warrior in particular before.
But hopefully the fight tomorrow would go well. And she would have to be silent no longer about Thena's obvious love for the Champion Gladiator.

Don't Blame Me | John 'Soap' MacTavishxFem!OC
Chapter 6: I Did Something Bad
Ao3 | Masterpost
John 'Soap' Mactavish wasn't thrilled to be given an escort mission to bring a young woman halfway across the world to a secret safe house especially when he has to pretend to be her husband. At least she's pretty.

He double-locked the door once they got into the hotel room. There was something off about him. He looked at that one building like it was an old adversary. He might have stood on that corner till he got frostbite if she hadn’t grabbed his hand. She knew the look. How the past creeps a hand around your throat and freezes you in place, taking you to a memory that never ends.
She wanted to talk to him but didn’t know what to say. She didn’t want to fuck things up. She didn’t want to cross some invisible line that he a drawn for himself.
She wasn’t angry at him. She understood why he said what he said. He was right. He was her bodyguard, an escort. He wasn’t her friend. Fuck, Price was barely her friend. He’d thought she was dead for the past 13 years, She had to reign herself in. She was a child compared to him. She couldn’t let a fantasy put them both at risk. She wished Price had been able to escort her instead.
She sat on the bed and began flipping through the channels. Her suitcase and backpack were thrown in the corner by the window. One bed again, almost the same layout as New York. A little room in the middle of a big city.  He said he would sleep on the floor again. Some bullshit about how it was more comfortable after sleeping in cots.
She needed something to crack the tension. Just talk to him, ask him anything. Don’t sit here in this silence. It’s making you insane. You didn’t spend ten years living alone to not talk to someone.
“You heard of this movie?” She turned to ask. He was staring out the window. His posture was tense. “What are you looking at?”
She saw it, just briefly, a glimmer of something from the building across the way. Metal shining in the sun. He turned and tackled her off the bed, hitting the wall. She barely heard it. The sound of air being displaced and a thud. There was hole in the wall above them now. He was lying on top of her, arms wrapped around her head.
“Don’t fucking move.” He growled. She nodded the best she could. “That was a sniper. Fuckin hell.”
She could feel his heart beating against her back. There was whistling from the hole in the glass. They were between the bed and wall, careful to stay close to the floor. His hand was on the back of her head, pressing her cheek against the floor.
“I’m going to move and you’re going to run to the door, okay? It came from a higher angle. They won’t be able to see you at the door.”
“How do you know he won’t see me?”
“Because it’s my job.” He rolled off of her, keeping a hand on her arm to steady her as she moved onto her hands and knees. “I’m going to grab my backpack and throw it at you then you run out of here.”
“What about you?”
“I’ll be right behind you… or I won’t be. You just gotta run.” She looked at him and shook her head.
“I’m going without you. We don’t need it.”
“Yes, we do. It has the cash, our passports, and the only way to call Price. You’re going to take the stairs and find a back door out of here. Cut through any buildings you can. Call Price. I’ll catch up.” He leaned his head back, trying to peer over the bed without being seen. He took his pistol off his belt. “Take this. You know how to use it?”
She nodded and took it. He let go of her arm.
“Go.”
She scrambled, it felt like three steps and she had thrown herself against the door. There was no second shot.
“Nina, you ready?”
“Ye..yeah.”
“I need you to be ready. You have to be ready to run, Nina. Are you ready?”
“I’m ready.” She could run. She tried to imagine where the stairwell was. How many steps would it take? What would she hear behind her? She wanted to hear him, feel him grab her arm, and pull her along. She didn’t want to have to call Price. ‘John is dead’. She couldn’t be the cause of someone else’s death. Not again.
“Nina!” The backpack hit her chest. She caught it and turned to unlock the door.
‘Just don’t turn around. Don’t turn around. No matter what you hear. Don’t turn around.’
She opened the door and ran. She made it four paces before she felt her feet lifted from the floor. She hit the floor, the gun skidding down the hall. Someone was on top of her, pulling her hair. Warm blood was flowing from her hairline down her cheek. She screamed, kicking as hard as she could. She reached behind her and felt her nails dig into soft flesh. Her face was slammed into the floor, blood dripping onto her lips.
“Fucking bitch.” It was American. She couldn’t turn her head enough to see her assailant. She clawed at the carpet like an animal, desperate to get any footing. The world went black for a moment and more blood poured into her mouth. The pain radiated through her head and neck.
“Nina run!” John knocked the man off of her. She could barely stand, the world was swirling around. Blood dripped down her face and into her eyes.
‘Gun. Gun. Gun. Grab the gun.’
She crawled across the floor, hands splayed out till she felt cold metal. It felt heavier.
“Leave it! Nina run!” His accent was thicker or she was having trouble understanding anything. The two men were on the ground wrestling. The American had a knife, John was holding his wrist. One of them was going to die.
‘Help him!’
She stood up and at a wavering pace, rushed over. She couldn’t shoot him and not hit John. She hit him in the back of the head as hard as she could with the bottom of gun. There was a cracking sound and she hit him again and again. The knife hit the ground and he went limp.
She couldn’t stop staring. The way the blood flooded underneath his hair and dripped down onto the carpet. It was a red carpet with cream flowers that were melting into their background. She could hear a memory.
“Nina! What did you do? Nina!” She was kneeling on the wood floor of her cabin. Her hands had blood. There was a body on the floor. The voice was coming from the doorway. “What the fuck did you do?”
Nina, Nina, Nina. She was beginning to hate the sound of her name.
“Nina. Nina. Nina.” There was a hand on her face, it pulled her out of her memory. “Are you okay? Look at me.”
He was okay. A cut across his cheek.
“You’re bleeding.” She said, reaching out to rub the blood away.
“You’re bleeding. Come on, we have to leave. Now!” He took the gun from her hand and slid it back on his hip. He slung the backpack over his shoulder and wrapped an arm around her middle. “Put your arm over my shoulder, lean on me. We’ll be okay.”
He had to carry her halfway down the stairs. Her nose was bleeding, it filled her mouth and lungs every time she breathed.
“I’m glad you didn’t shoot me but that’s not exactly how you use a gun.” He joked. He kicked open the door to the basement parking garage.
He set her down against a pillar.
“I’m gonna get us a car and we’re getting the fuck out of here. Just don’t move.” She sank to the ground. She was missing a shoe. She tried to wipe the blood from her face but it only hurt to touch. Her whole body hurt actually.
Somewhere glass broke and a car alarm went off. She counted down the seconds. Fifteen and it stopped. Thirty more and an engine started. Twenty more and a grey Nissan pulled up. John got out and helped her into the passenger seat.
“Try to stay awake, yeah?” He pushed her hair out of her face, holding her chin between two fingers. “Fuck he got you good, didn’t he?”
He drove fast. He left a hand on her knee as he drove, squeezing every time she started to drift off.
“Stay with me just a little longer.” He sounded breathless.
“My head hurts.” She groaned. It felt like someone had reached in and squeezed her brain.
“Bet it does. How many times did he smash ya?”
“Two.. I think.”
“You’ll be fine. Face wounds bleed a lot.” His cheek was still bleeding. He grabbed the backpack out of the backseat and tossed it in her lap. “Call Price for me.”
She dug around the bag, blinking hard every time her vision doubled. She found it eventually.
“Only number in there.” He pulled onto the highway exiting the city. She stared at the screen, little neon squares staring back at her. They jumbled like pieces of a puzzle. “Bottom left, green button.”
She found it and hit the number.
“Price?” She said at the click.
“Nina? What’s wrong? Where’s Soap?” He wasn’t yelling but it was loud and demanding.
“Who?” Maybe he smashed her face more than twice. She could barely string the words together to answer any of his questions. He was saying her name, she knew that. She wanted to sleep. She didn’t want to talk.
“Nina, give me the phone.” John held out a hand and she dropped the phone into it.
“Someone knew, down to the fuckin hotel floor…She’s got a concussion probably but she’ll be fine…Affirmative… We’ll stay off the main roads…No, I have to get her cleaned up, Sir…He’s dead… She did, Sir…I’ll check in again once we’re safe…Copy…Out.” He hung up the phone and gave it back to her.
“I’m gonna get us across state lines and then we’ll stop, okay? Can you stay with me till then?” His smile was reassuring but she could see the worry in those blue eyes.
She nodded weakly. He squeezed her knee.
“Good girl.” He was silent for a moment, his hand stayed on her knee. “I’m sorry you had to do that. It’s rough, the first time.”
“Yeah,” She mumbled. He squeezed her knee again, rubbing a circle with his thumb. It wasn’t her first time.

Best Double Camp Bed: Comfort for Your Outdoor Adventures
Camping offers a unique way to connect with nature, unwind from daily stress, and create lasting memories with friends and family. One crucial aspect of any camping trip is ensuring you have a comfortable sleeping arrangement. A good night’s sleep can make all the difference in your overall experience, especially if you’re camping in beautiful places like nirwana stays. This blog post will explore the best double camp beds available, their benefits, essential features to consider, and recommendations to elevate your camping experience.
Why Choose a Double Camp Bed?
Opting for a double camp bed can enhance your camping experience in several ways:
1. Shared Comfort
One of the main advantages of a double camp bed is the ability to share the space comfortably. Whether you’re camping with a partner or a friend, a double bed allows you to snuggle up and enjoy the warmth of companionship on chilly nights. The close proximity also fosters an atmosphere for cozy conversations and shared memories.
2. Space Efficiency
Camping often means limited space, especially in smaller tents. A double camp bed optimizes your sleeping area, providing enough room for two without overcrowding the tent. This is particularly beneficial when camping at scenic locations like nirwana stays, where you want to enjoy the stunning surroundings without feeling cramped.
3. Easier Setup and Breakdown
Setting up camp can be time-consuming. With a double camp bed, you can streamline your setup process. Instead of dealing with two separate sleeping arrangements, a double bed allows you to quickly establish your sleeping area, giving you more time to enjoy your surroundings and engage in fun activities.
4. Enhanced Bonding Experience
Camping is not just about the destination; it's also about the experiences shared along the way. A double camp bed encourages bonding between campers. Whether you’re sharing stories by the campfire or planning your next adventure, having a shared sleeping space enhances the overall experience.
Key Features to Consider in a Double Camp Bed
When shopping for the best double camp bed, it’s essential to keep certain features in mind:
1. Comfort Level
The comfort of your double camp bed is paramount. Look for options with adequate cushioning and support. Inflatable beds often have flocked surfaces that provide a soft feel, while cot-style beds should feature sturdy frames that can support your weight without sagging.
2. Portability
If you plan to hike to your campsite, weight and portability are critical factors. Choose a double camp bed that is lightweight and easy to pack. Many modern designs come with convenient carrying bags, making transport easier.
3. Durability
Durability is crucial for camping gear, as it needs to withstand the elements. Ensure your double camp bed is constructed from high-quality materials designed for outdoor use. Look for reinforced seams and water-resistant fabrics to prolong the lifespan of your bed.
4. Ease of Setup
A complicated setup can lead to frustration after a long day of hiking or exploring. Opt for a double camp bed that is easy to assemble and disassemble. Inflatable beds with built-in pumps offer quick inflation, while cot-style beds should have a straightforward assembly process.
5. Budget
Double camp beds come in a range of prices. Establish a budget before shopping to narrow your options. While premium models may offer exceptional comfort and durability, you can find many affordable choices that meet your needs without breaking the bank.

Pros: Durable, easy to set up, spacious sleeping area.
Cons: Bulkier than inflatable options; may require additional padding for comfort.
3. Intex Comfort Plush Elevated Dura-Beam Airbed
Features: With its high-rise design and included electric pump, this airbed provides a comfortable sleeping surface. The plush top layer adds extra comfort.
Pros: High elevation, quick setup, soft surface.

Whether you’re planning a getaway to nirwana stays or enjoying a backcountry adventure, a quality double camp bed will provide the comfort and support necessary for restful nights. Focus on essential features such as comfort, portability, durability, ease of setup, and budget when making your decision. The Ivy Grove Bed and Breakfast
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Owners: Toulouse Bonfamille Employees: Nounou (lol)
Current Guests:
Raksha and Dhaumya Bhediya staying in the Heart Room
Scott Richards staying in the Ivalace Room
Overview:
The Ivy Grove is a bed and breakfast in Swynlake that is four bedrooms and features two and a half baths, with ample gardens, a conservatory, a snug room, and more. It is recently renovated (January 2024), after a fire.
If you Google places to stay in Swynlake, it will come up as an option--with different pricing for the different rooms (bigger rooms cost slightly more.) It also has an "about the owner" page that talks about Toulouse and says that he is an out werewolf. (Signaling to other werewolves that this is a place they can stay.)
Regular people as well as werewolves can and do stay here, but the people who are not werewolves will 90% of the time be NPCs and I will let you know if/when they're coming and who they are, etc. (If you have NPC family coming to town and want them to stay at the Ivy Grove, hmu.) So, if there are other people staying, you can't really be out as a wolf unless you're okay with that, but it's still a safe place and Lou will kick anyone causing a fuss out.
OOC: This is a functioning Swynlake business, but for the most part it is only going to be used for any werewolves in play that might want to stay there. Obviously, there only a certain amount of rooms. Additionally, I don't expect the werewolves who live here to stay forever, but you will be able to crash for a few months, at least. And you won't have to pay if you can't, at least at first. If you stay like 6+ months, Lou will expect you to start paying lol.
Guest Agreement:
I will pay for my room on a nightly or weekly basis (depending on length of stay), up front. (*Werewolves can work something out with Toulouse.)
I will leave everything as I left it and report any damages to the property manager. I may be expected to pay for any damages caused, depending on how they occurred, within reason.
I will keep common areas tidy and rooms relatively clean. Housekeeping comes once a week on Monday mornings, so please have your personal items picked up so she can do a thorough cleaning.
Breakfast is provided every morning at 9am with leftovers kept in the refrigerator. Other meals are provided on special occasions and can be requested.
Feel free to stock cabinets and refrigerator with your own food, do not eat other guests' food without asking, and do not let food rot. Guests are welcome to use kitchen utensils and products to cook.
Guests of guests are allowed, but may only stay for one night at a time, unless alternatives are agreed upon by management. Only two guests per room. All rooms have a double or King sized bed.
Children are welcome and cots/cribs can be provided.
Do not touch the houseplants. Management and housekeeping will tend to them.
No pets allowed, except for certified service animals, unless agreed upon by management.
Be kind and courteous to other guests, especially in common spaces and bathrooms.
Please report any issues with other guests to management.
Management has the right to remove any guest at any time for violating these policies or other infractions.
Please see description of the rooms below. <3
**note: pictures in the aesthetic are to give an overall #feel of the house, but don’t necessarily indicate the exact furniture/decorations/floorplan. the floorplan, on the other hand is not quite to scale but i did the best i could.
Living Room
The living room is the biggest room in the house and is also central. The front door opens into it. It has a lot of space, a fireplace, and several different options for seating. There is also a bookshelf that is filled with some overflow of books from the Nook, lol. It has double French doors that lead out into the private, fenced in garden.
It is painted a nice soft green with several paintings, the four most prominent are all the same size and framed in golden frames. They are of the same scene: Atlantis Lake, at spring, summer, fall, winter. They were painted by Toulouse. There are also several house plants.
Laundry Room
Off the living room is a little utility/laundry room with a washer and dryer that guests are welcome to use. It is pretty big so has a little counter and some cabinets for storage. *Not labeled on map, but it's the little room to the left on top of the living room. There is a still life of a messy wicker basket of clothes hanging in here. It was painted by Toulouse.
Kitchen
The kitchen is stocked with some basics: flour, spices, sugar, some teas, etc. It's fully stocked with bowls, plates, utensils. There is a tea pot, coffee maker, blender, food processor, mixer, stove, oven, etc. etc. Basically anything you'd need to cook you can assume it is already there. Guests are allowed to stock it themselves and use any of the equipment. There are some more still lifes in here that were painted by Toulouse, these ones of foods (breads, fruits, veggies, eggs) and rustic counters, glass bottles, etc.
In the window, there is a little herb garden that you can take herbs from. Like some rosemary, thyme, that sort of thing.
Snug Room
The snug room is a small room off the kitchen that has a fireplace and lots of cozy seating and blankets. A nice, snug little place to get away from the bustle of the house in. There is a painting of a warm hearth done by Toulouse in this room. There are a few houseplants in here too. It also has a door that leads out into the garden.
Dining Room
Off the other side of the living room is the dining room, which obviously can be used by anyone. There is a set of stairs in here that leads up to the second floor, specifically the Ivalace and Needlepoint rooms. It also has a door that leads to the conservatory. So, when it's not being used for a dinner party, it's kind of an intermediary room. There is one of the biggest paintings in this room, it is longer than it is tall and spans a good portion of the wall. It is a large landscape scene of Enchantra. There are deer, fairies, owls, squirrels, etc. etc., all hidden within the foliage and it's kind of dark and moody, with light only barely peaking through the canopy.
Study
The study is furnished with a desk and a desktop computer for guests to use if they do not have their own computer. There are more books in this room on the bookshelves. It is painted a nice, calming blue. There is a series of three paintings of a messy pile of books, in each one, a few more of the books have disappeared, but otherwise they are identical. Done by Toulouse, of course. And more houseplants, there are a lot of houseplants.
Conservatory
You can access the conservatory from the garden or the dining room. It is a glass room with a little fireplace, so it can stay quite warm in the winter. There is a table out there where you can have your tea or eat. There are some comfy chairs too for reading and such.
Yard and Gardens
The gardens are fenced in with a private fence which has ivy growing all over it. It is about an acre and has a large, beautiful oak as its centerpiece. There is a lattice of Ivy to one side with a bench under it. There is a little pond with running water. (No fish.) There are some hedges and roses and other flowers. It is tended to by Lou and is very impressive because he has a green thumb af.
Downstairs Bathroom
A small bathroom with a standing shower in it. This bathroom is used by guests while downstairs, but is also the bathroom that serves the Ivalace and Needlepoint rooms.
Stairs, Landing, and Hallway
There are two sets of stairs in the Ivy Grove. The first set is in the living room and goes up to the Heart and Glacier rooms, as well as the bathroom and washroom. The hallway is large and the draftiest place in the house, but there are a few bookshelves and probably like a chair or smth just because there is a lot of space. There are also a few paintings: one of starlings in the sky, a tree, a river. All done by Toulouse, of course. The walls are painted a soft yellow.
Bedroom One -- the Heart Room
Current Guest: Raksha and Dhaumya Bhediya
The largest room and the one that is kind of sectioned off from everything, it is also the most expensive room. Weekly prices are about 500 pounds, nightly is about 150 pounds. (Monthly can be negotiated on a case-by-case.) The room is decorated with a large bed, painted a soft creme, and has white and green sheets with green accents.
There is a painting above the bed of a vase of flowers, lots of red flowers (poppies, roses, etc.).
Bedroom Two -- the Glacier Room
Current Guest: N/A
The second largest room, so it's the second most expensive. Weekly prices are about 400 pounds, nightly is about 90 pounds. (Monthly can be negotiated on a case-by-case.) The room is decorated with a large bed, painted a soft creme, and has white and burgundy sheets with burgundy accents.
There is a painting above the bed of a vase of flowers, lots of yellow flowers (daisies, lilies, etc.).
Bedroom Three -- the Needlepoint Room
Current Guest: N/A
The Needlepoint and Ivalace are the same size, with the same pricing. They're a little cheaper because you have to go downstairs to use the bathroom and they're a little more inconvenient to get to, but nice because they're away from everything. Weekly prices are about 300 pounds, nightly is about 70 pounds. (Monthly can be negotiated on a case-by-case.) The room is decorated with a large bed, painted a soft creme, and has white and green sheets with green accents.
There is a painting above the bed of a vase of flowers, lots of purple flowers (lavender, aster, etc.).
Bedroom Four -- the Ivalace Room
Current Guest: Scott Richards
The Needlepoint and Ivalace are the same size, with the same pricing. They're a little cheaper because you have to go downstairs to use the bathroom and they're a little more inconvenient to get to, but nice because they're away from everything. Weekly prices are about 300 pounds, nightly is about 70 pounds. (Monthly can be negotiated on a case-by-case.) The room is decorated with a large bed, painted a soft creme, and has white and burgundy sheets with burgundy accents.
There is a painting above the bed of a vase of flowers, lots of blue flowers (irises, hydrangeas, etc.).
Upstairs Bathroom
The upstairs bathroom is large and grand, with both a shower and a claw foot tub for relaxation. There are two sinks in this bathroom. The paintings in this room are all of water scenes: Atlantis lake, a little waterfall in Enchantra, and the Kohaku.
Upstairs Washroom
This bathroom does not have a shower or tub, it is simply an extra bathroom. There is a storage closet and water boiler room across the hall from it. (Also where the breaker is.)
