Two Rose AU Ideas I'd like to Introduce!
I've got a couple of AU ideas for my special girlie pop! And they both involved Pokey
1. Pokey's Little Star AU
In this one, Pokey is basically Rose's Webby. He's still very much evil and stuff, but he has a soft spot for Rose and is nice (as he can be since he's Pokey) to her and her alone. I have some yummy ideas of how this dynamic would work in the TGWDLM timeline.
2. Daughter of the Singular Voice AU
Rose is Pokey's adopted daughter. Not sure how he got a hold of her yet, maybe through Church of Starry Children? But anyway, Rose is raised in the Black and White, and is pretty sheltered about 'normal' humans.
(Also side note but I sometimes like to imagine Rose being played by Mariah, and with Pokey being portrayed by Corey Dorros in NPMD, this doesn't really beat the Mariah Corey Father Daughter allegations lol)

Bowynn Gods: Dorro
Dorro (Dor-Rho) Dorro are the Kii guardrians of homes and stables. Of all the Kii, the Dorro are the most popular and seen depicted in every home and barn. These small Kii are said to be the size of small birds. They are born from eggs and bear bird-like wings. At times they will take the form of chimney swifts. In the home they are the guardians of the house and all that dwell in it. At times Dorro may even help the gods Io and Hyu to keep the home safe and clean. In a typical Bowynn home a special shelf is built over the front door. Here images of the Dorro, emerging from the eggs, are placed. It is considered a place for the Dorro to stay, where they are safe and out from underfoot.

Hi starsong
Do any of your ocs go through grief and how do they deal with it?
If I’m not mistaken, every one of my seven (omg seven?! I am unhinged) main stories explores grief in some fashion. The PoV ladies of Lost Souls’ Night, in particular, all experience life-altering losses. In them, I showcase just a handful of the many ways in which humans might grieve.
In book one, we grieve with Wynifer Flamekind as she mourns her separation from family and culture. Her blistering rage and resentment for the people responsible is visceral. Wynifer took these emotions and used them to fuel her rebellion against the empire that mistreats those for whom they’re supposedly responsible.
In that same book, Phreya Vedaera’s mother dies horrifically right before her, leaving her only daughter utterly alone. Phreya chose to turn her anger on her dead mother. She blamed her for dying, for her mother being mentally ill and incapable, and for forcing her daughter into the jaded caretaker role she leads.
In book two, we meet two more PoV characters: the princess Rheannen Calamicus and Druscylla Ton Dorro. Rheannen’s life is full of loss and uncertainty. As a child, she witnessed her younger brother’s death. In some ways, her story mirrors Phreya’s— though, Rheannen handles her trauma quite similarly to how Phreya’s mother dealt with her own. It is implied that Rheannen has cPTSD, among other issues. Even so, her experiences made her gentle, kind, and careful with her words.
In contrast, Druscylla’s loss— that of her mother during her childhood— turned Druscylla’s heart to stone. Her obsession with self-preservation at any cost and callousness toward those she deems weak has poisoned her.
In book three, Stellens Croft and Lady Lethe grieve the loss of their lives as they knew them. Stellena is thrust into the world of cutthroat nobles and their machinations. Her family dynamic changes, and those she thought she understood become strangers to her. Stellenw takes it in stride and pushes on, adjusting to it all by force of will. Her resilience is almost tangible throughout the last three books. Lethe, on the other hand, retreats further into herself, self-isolates, and feeds her anxieties and shame with intrusive thoughts and bad memories. The total destruction of the empire’s judicial system and moral code, which she maintained and endorsed for almost a decade— the fact she’d lived a lie since childhood— shatters her worldview.
I like to think I’ve approached each of these examples of grief honestly and respectfully. My readers will have to be the judges of this, though.
Thank you for the ask! I really enjoy psychologically-focused, thought-provoking questions.
