also also something that tears my heart to fucking shreds every single time is how baifan are like two halves of a whole in their regards to traumas. like you have zongyi, who was hurt so much by his mom and was glad that he left so that he could actually have a loving little family and in return, love them properly too. and then you have zerui, who had a good mother but never had any kind of family to love him and had to accept that he wasn't needed in any regard. i love the bai family so much, so so much because they are everything that a god family should be: loving, accepting, worried, concerned, caring, with a hint of good natured teasing because they're that close. i hate the fan family because they are the exact opposite: cold, distant, controlling, oppressive, cruel, and will solve things with money cuz that's how they view everything, especially elder fan (i hate that old man so much).

one of my favorite scenes in episode seven is actually when bai jingyu catches zongyi and zerui kissing and she's shocked for all of five seconds before her expression melts into so much kindness and care since she's happy that her brother has someone who loves him. she doesn't care that it's another guy, she cares that zerui loves her brother and treats him with that love that she knows he deserves. the shift of her expressions is so sweet and it fills my heart with love 🥺 she just wants happiness for her big brother and she's delighted that he found it ❤️
