#doozers never change

Fobo means so much to me, like of course on the server itself but also how it’s changed the communities. I’m in both Tubbo and Foolish’s chats and before the server reset, they were much more hostile towards the other’s egg because of the beef. But now it’s so different.

Doozers see Sunny no longer as a copy of Leo, but as herself with her own distinct, hilarious attitude and will go out of their way to praise her building skills. And contrastingly, tubblings no longer view Leo as a threat or “bully,” but instead aslittle girl going through struggles like Sunny and have since made the effort to always include her and never let her be forgotten (like when her figure wasn’t on the display, tubbo’s chat pointed it out quickly and started chanting fobophobic since sunny doesn’t have one yet).

It’s just little things but it makes my heart so happy seeing how loved these little girls are, even by people who misinterpreted them before.

Things that I, as an autistic person, don't understand, in no particular order:

- eye contact. How? Just how? Also why?

- When. The hell. Does someone count as a friend? Like at what point do you cross from "someone I know" territory to "we are friends" territory? (I usually wait until the other people call me their friend first cause I don't wanna call them friends if they haven't yet and it's real awkward, especially when telling my Mum about people)

- why do allistic change a plan last-minute and are totally okay? Where's the anxiety? Where is the hectic scrambling for a calender or journal?

- speaking of journals - how do people, allistic or not, manage their lives without them? [this is sparked by my boss during my museum internship who was surprised and puzzled that I wrote my work schedules and duties for each day into my journal. Madam, you manage part of two museums, how do you not keep a journal?!?!]

- why did Moky give Boober a crown when he lost his hat? Why didn't she realize he didn't want a new hat? Season one Moky Fraggle was a time...

- why can't Philo and Gunge remember where they came from before they were with Marjorie? Were they born in the trash? I must know! The Doozers interacted with their species before, way in the past, but this species seems to be all gone now so what happened in the Fraggle Rock ecosystem for the species to disappear?!

- Where. Did. The. Pipebangers. Go??! We never saw them again after Let The Water Run, and I miss them.

- Why was Doc written as such a bad dog-owner? Whyyyyy? It's so infuriating at times even though I love Doc

- How are Jamdolin and Cantus related? I have a few theories but I must know. Side note, I am very glad they renamed the Minstrels to Troubadours in the reboot... definitely a good choice

MATT X JOHN: old man yaoi real ehehehe :P no strong feelings on this pairing one way or another, but it's neat to think about and the semi-implications that John knows something about Outer Space would make for an interesting dynamic between the two :)

JOHN X CANTUS: Honestly I was gonna make a joke about how they're both performed by Jim Henson but now that I'm thinking about it they parallel each other so well...they're sort of mirror versions of each other, both being incredibly powerful figures in the Rock who can change the world around them with their music, but while John uses his abilities to make others do things they would never consider doing otherwise, Cantus' whole thing is leading others to what they're meant to do. There's also the fact that the graphic novels claim that John's dad was a Minstrel, and that John himself was in training to be one as well before discovering his ability to convince others - there's honestly a lot of potential here for a really fascinating dynamic and pairing.

POLY MINSTRELS: Oooh I'd never considered that as a pairing :0 my own personal headcanons about the Minstrels mean that I wouldn't really ship it (I headcanon Brio as MUCH younger than the other Minstrels since her lines in Music Makes Us Real are about her being a "beginner," and I likewise headcanon Cantus as being a sort of father figure for her as a result), but outside of my ridiculously elaborate headcanons for a character who shows up in 3 episodes I see the vision I really do...

GOBO X WEMBLEY: Another one that I don't ship myself due to my own personal headcanons (aromantic Gobo my beloved <3 Gobo and Wembley having a sibling/sibling-esque relationship my also beloved <3) but I can absolutely see why others ship it! They have such a strong and loving bond, and I adore their dynamic :3

vegetta complained to foolish about the mod removal. he blamed it all on the english community, implying Q didn't really explain why it was removed. Foolish was very uncomfortable, had a strained smile the whole time, and tried to change the subject as quickly as possible. i'm going to err on the doozer side here because foolish's character over the last 2 years has very much been on the 'would never willingly participate in racist actions' and i think he was just ignorant.

but i'm also a biased doozer so you probably would be better off watching that piece of the vod. wasn't longer than 4 minutes.

Puffy searches to see if the egg has spread, learns that the vine within Doozer HQ has been removed. 

Tommy and Philza log in. Philza is distressed by the state of his lawn he doesn’t care that it’s for Micheal. Tommy proclaims that they have been wronged and demands Philza’s presence.

Recruiting Philza and Puffy, Tommy tears up the top layer of the prime path and replaces it with new oak slabs, he blows up the tunnel and tears out the redstone lamps, declaring that adequate lighting prevents primes. 

He restores the staircase that takes the prime path through his house, removing some of the wall that was obstructing that part of the path. Philza points out Tommy is doing this because he wants people to center their lives around him, which Tommy agrees with. 

Technoblade rides a pig using a carrot on a stick and recognizes Tommy’s house as Conner’s house by the sign and from previous adventures. 

Philza points out Tommy has netherite armor in his chest. After much persuasion Tommy takes it, but leaves it off in his inventory as he feels it slows him down. 

Wilbur briefly appears to note to Tommy that he has never had a connection to the prime path and does not feel wronged by changes to it. (And to provide 4/4 sleepy bois) 

They explore the server and Tommy griefs Doozer HQ for some dripstone. 

Technoblade’s pig is struck by lightning and becomes a man. 

Philza, Techno and Tommy leave, Puffy finishes up the prime path with dirt.

Puffy works on her base.

Bad logs in, furious at Tommy’s changes to the prime path.

Bad interrogates Puffy about the state of the prime path and the people responsible.

Bad seeks revenge, convincing Puffy to assist him, he’ll get revenge on Tommy first and consider revenge on Philza and Puffy later. 

Bad clarifies that out of character he was aware Tommy would likely destroy the path, but is still frustrated Tommy did not speak to him about it. 

Puffy mentions having seen Dream around the server homeless and eating out of dumpsters. Bad considers leaving out sandwiches for him. 

Puffy and Bad mine obsidian, discount maid dress skeppy makes an appearance. 

Bad fills every air block inside and around Tommy’s base with obsidian.  

Puffy asks Bad if he’s up to any egg stuff, he says he isn’t. This is just revenge.  

Bad changes out the oak of the prime bath for obsidian deep slate and red netherbrick to match his own color scheme, based on a fan design. 

Bad explains his plan, he’ll put in this new path design that being made of obsidian is difficult to grief and keep the prime path pieces safe. He’s going to do everything in his power to make Tommy mad, and interfere with Tommy’s builds. Once Tommy is convinced to not grief the path Bad will revert the path to its new former glory (the Antfrost, Sam, BBH collaborative design) 

Out of character Bad clarifies that he knew Tommy would do a destruction stream. In character, he will destroy everything the gremlin cares about.

It’s quiet here at night. After even the latest night mining sessions end, there are always a few hours before the earliest risers will be up ready to get on with the day’s build. In those moments of quiet, untethered to anyone, Chat used to wander the server. They don’t anymore.

Chat is a funny thing. No one quite knows where they came from, can’t connect the dots between the crows and the ferrets and doozers. Whether something that develops naturally from talking into the air, or a being older than DreamXD themself, it’s hard to tell. But the fact remains that, if one spends enough time in this place, the things that listen will find a way to talk back.

Tonight, they’ve gathered at the pond. It’s a nice meeting place, all things considered. It isn’t exactly neutral ground - in the morning, the others will scatter off to follow their usual charge - but at night it’s somewhere Chat can come in its entirety. Ducks float on the water, chattering to ferrets and raccoons that settle in the grass on its edge, with purple spots of light drifting in the breeze all around them. Up in the trees above, crows keep a watchful eye, murmuring among themselves, the odd splash of blue or white within their ranks. The wind brings with it voices, those without a physical form, that spiral around where doozers and clay creatures sit together, having carried the lemons all this way so they could be on time.

It’s a cacophony of shapes and sounds, just the way Chat likes it. But once they are all accounted for, minus those few who never leave the Warden’s side, a blue jay flutters down to perch on a stick jutting out of the water of the pond. All eyes turn to them, the conversation getting hushed but faster, in the way that only Chat can manage.

“Hi, Ghostbur!” they chirp, looking up at the stars. A chorus of greetings moves through them, each repeating the phrase in their own way.

“How are you?” asks a crow.

“Hope you’re okay!” says a particle.

“We miss you!” says a raccoon.

There is no answer. But then again, they didn’t expect one. Just like when someone new to this place speaks into the void, Chat can only hope that he is listening. But hope is enough to keep them coming back.

“Would you like to hear about flowers?” the blue jay asks.

“Flowers!” “I would!” “Hi Ghosbur!” Chat chorus back.

“We can’t hear you,” a crow reminds him. Just in case.

“But we hope you can hear us!” chirps another.

“ Soooo , sit down, get comfy,” the blue jay says. Chat perks up around them, each with their own fact to share, even as a duck with a bright green stripe on its wing tells them to wait. “And let’s start with cornflowers.”

“You can put them in tea!” says a ferret.

“Lavender is for serenity-” says a particle.

“- and poppies mean sleep,” says another.

“Blue orchids mean decadence-” one of the doozers begins, only for a raccoon to cut in with, “That’s a funny word!”

“Yeah! They also mean tenderness.”

“And reliability,” adds a voice on the wind.

“Red tulips are for passion,” chirps a cardinal.

“And yellow ones are for hope,” the blue jay adds.

They continue like this, long into the night. Flowers lead to plants, which lead to stories. The blue jay keeps them on track like only they can, a constant in an ever growing cacophony of sound. They hope he can hear them, they hope he feels loved.

Eventually, the sun will rise, and Chat will scatter. The doozers and their lemons off to the desert, the particles and voices away on the wind toward the snow, words returning to the pages of a book. The pond stays, emptier now, the topic of conversation changed back to whatever this Chat thinks about in the hours between the nightly meeting and their person’s arrival. Each says a goodbye as they go, and the blue jay reminds him of when they will return. They hope that he remembers. They will remind him tomorrow anyway.

Up in the trees, the birds gather, just briefly. Their own sort of ritual. Soon, the crows will be off to look for trinkets, and the magpies and cardinals will return to their perhaps unwilling charge. But for now they sit and talk with the blue jays, fewer in number now but persistent nonetheless.

Somewhere, a sheep wanders.

Birthday Presents

One of the differences between living in the US where anything important costs an arm and a leg (healthcare, education, childcare etc.) and anything trivial is dirt cheap (electronics, clothes, toys etc.) and living in Denmark where the opposite is true, is that birthday party invites suddenly fill me with panic. I don’t know where to get affordable gifts. This is compounded by the fact that the two toy store chains were owned by the same company that went out of business this year. Aside from the grocery store and one boutique healthy wooden toy store in town, there is virtually no where to get kid presents. The selection isn’t great, the prices aren’t great, and, oh yeah, like the U.S. children seem to already have everything under the sun. Sure there’s the internet, but there is no Amazon in Denmark and ordering from Germany takes time. Using thebookdepository  also takes about a month’s lead time. So you’re either spending another 5-8 bucks on shipping or need a month’s notice, which most people, unlike me, do not give.

So, below I’ve decided to list my new go to gift ideas for children under 10. I believe they are both applicable for the Denmark, the U.S. and plenty of other countries.

1. Children’s Cookbooks:

Kids love getting messy and creative in the kitchen and even by age two, they are old enough mix and appreciate the process. I have been compiling my own and printing it on Lulu. For me, it’s great, because I already have a personal adult cook book and a lot of boring American foods are exciting here. However, there are plenty of cook books already extent that are great kids and like other types of books, you can never have too many!

2. Seeds:

Radishes, Turnips, Peas, Beans, Sunflowers, spinach and Carrots are all the type you can throw in the ground and forget about. They’ll come up no matter how weedy the dirt is, they don't require watering and they are all super fun. They taste delicious fresh and are fun to watch grow. Radishes if you don’t thin them won’t create bulbs, but they make zesty little bean pods that my kids prefer. Carrots and radishes both come in rainbow packs and you can make a fun game out of guessing what color the root will be before you pull it.

3. DVDs of TV series:

There is a lot of mediocre TV out there, but also some truly amazing shows now for kids. Depending on the family’s viewing preferences, it’s likely the birthday child has not been exposed to Doozers, Ready, Jet Go, Wild Kratts, Blaze and the Monster Machine or something of that ilk. A DVD doesn’t create clutter, can be a gateway to a whole new hobby and provides hours of entertainment. It’s a marvelous value for money.

4. Plants:

Like seeds, they offer the fascination of something that grows and changes and lasts a long time. For indoor plants, succulents are best, because they want very little water, so you don’t have to worry about forgetting them for a couple weeks. Jade plants cloning properties are particularly fun.

For outdoor, if they’ve got a yard, a tree is an awesome gift. I also like hosta plants for shade and lupins for sun.

5. Apps: 

Figuring out gifting apps can be a bit of a headache, but like DVDs there tends to be a lot of good stuff people don’t know about and the value for money is fantastic.

Think Rolls, Pedersen’s Inventions, Busy Shapes, are some that come readily to mind.

February 12, 2019 Part I

Boss got home around midnight. So he’ll be in today. That is both good and bad. It’s eh b/c he’s back, but very good that I don’t have to reschedule everything for today. In between around 6pm last night and 6 am this morning, the mofo had the nerve to add a couple meetings to his calendar AND offer up a shit ton of time next week for a meeting, most of which were meetings that were hard to schedule. It is an interesting request though. Either he got offered a job that would require him to leave the university, or he didn’t get it and he wants help getting to that next step. The thing for me is, he’s kind of in the same boat as me. At our levels, it’s really hard to make it up to the next step, simply because there are so many fewer jobs as you go higher. Unless they create a new job, I don’t see how they can match it if he did get the offer. Unless there’s a few people retiring in the next couple years....Although, now that I think about it, there were a couple of jobs here that, while not exactly his expertise, would have moved him up. I wonder if he applied or not. As someone who works for him, and understands the drive, I want him to succeed. As someone who works for him, he’s not a good manager or leader, so I only want him to move up into a position where he wouldn’t make things worse, but could contribute in his way to make things thrive. Bureaucracies are good for that. Wow, my spelling is really terrible lately. I couldn’t even spell bureaucracy without looking it up online. However, along the way, I did invent the word ‘brocracy.’ It makes sense as a word.

Didn’t sleep well last night. Didn’t do my laundry last night. Did it this morning, but somehow everyone was using the machines this morning, so it’s a late to work day. When the boss flew in at midnight. You know he’s gonna think some kind of way.

I made my first real apartment building friend in the laundry room today. We started talking bc I was wearing a Kentucky tshirt. He went to UK. And he knew where my tiny first college was. And he’s moving in April. That’s my life lol. Three of us were talking and it was lovely. We talked about racism. We  talked about the grammys, we talked about rachel doozer. I’m going to watch a doc they have on net flicks about her and we shall then discuss lol. The other person we were chatting with is currently working on her masters kind of sort of  in the field my dept is in. What a small world.

Highlight of my day so far: finding out a meeting I worked on was being held in a bad location for my people, and getting them to agree to move it for me. As long as I do all the work.

The girl in fresh off the boat who asked Evan if he liked her, was so freaking brave! I got anxious watching her lol.

I was walking in between work offices today, and I had some really good thoughts. Which I forgot. This is why I don’t make progress on things. This, and about a billion other reasons. But one thing I do remember is that I started thinking that my career doesn’t necessarily need to be over and dead-end. I could commit to growing and becoming an expert in something. I don’t know. It was a thought. And hell, maybe I can try to get my phd after I retire! I know, I know. It was just an idle thought b/c I’m surrounded by academia. Oh yes, another thing I was thinking was maybe I should reconsider not trying to stay here. lol. I had to remind myself that - no!

I went a decent part of the day without headphones in. At one point, I was talking to myself when my boss walked by and he thought I was talking to him. It occurs to me that I speak to myself more when I don’t have music or tv going on. What’s up with that?

Please god do not let biden or sanders win.

For a minute during work I was energized and excited to get home and do stuff. Got home and I’m exhausted. And this is why I never get anywhere with anything.

There are about a bazillion points where I see I went wrong. Normally, I say I wouldn’t go back in time to change anything if I didn’t maintain my knowledge of all this. Today I’m not feeling it. I’d go back in a heartbeat and just cross my fingers that I’d make different choices.

A congressperson made a comment about a jewish org funding pro-isreal stuff in the government. I don’t know anything about that particular organization, but it says something that both parties quickly disavowed her remarks. Other than the whole batshit crazy people trying to foment wwiii so they can start armageddon, I don’t understand what the other reasons are that politicians are so afraid to say anything negative about the country. Why they’re so beholden and afraid. Besides the fact that people are quick to consider anyone who’s anti-israel to be an antisemite. As a pro-jew, antiisrael person I don’t get it. But then again, I’m not old enough to be close to the founding and all the conflict back then. I just see it as a country/government doing whatever it’s doing, in the same way other countries are primarily catholic or primarily protestant or primarily muslim, without those countries’ actions reflecting on the religion. Don’t get me wrong, I know very well that many people/governments pervert religion for their own ends. But I don’t see that as the religions themselves, just yucky people.

Random thought popped into my head. A while ago, I tried to start watching last man standing. I couldn’t understand how it could be a conservative show when the mother (an actress I’ve been fond of for years) was a working woman and an engineer. Just now it occurred to me that I don’t understand how I could have been perplexed? Because I tried watching it AFTER I spent a couple of years working with sexist, racist, homophobic, etc, chemists. Wow. Sometimes I am real slow.

Midwestern Gothic

- You have spent hours rolling past these copy-pasted cornfields and, as the sun sets, you start to wonder why they all look the same as if it was a mirage hiding something that these small towns and billboards were keeping from you. that's when you need to stop for the night, find a well-lit motel room, and shut the blinds, because the mind is easily influenced to change it's course while tired.

- Stepping outside of your house in the morning was always so routine. just get ready and get out the door; you know you have a long drive ahead. somehow today was different, fog gathering in the valley and slowly seeming to move closer and closer. You heard stories of this when you were young but you have never thought you would see the day it slowly overtook you.

listen i am a lesbian and i dont understand why people are upset about ranboo say that he dressed like a lesbian. like, for one thing, he does, and two, it's not hurtful. twitter is a goddamn cesspit and he even deleted the comments.

so lots of dream smp members have been assigning their chat as things in canon, ex: phil's crow,s ranboo's particles, etc., and foolish has now assigned his chat to be doozers from fraggle rock

But really what makes you think the pregnancy wasn't real? If you look at her after he was born she has obvious baby fat on her stomach and even in her face. Look at those pictures. That'd be pretty hard to fake. And that photo hardcore Larries always bring up with her at the dining table... you literally can see her bump but they ignore it. There's also a photo shared later where she's showing her entire stomach and it's obviously real.

“baby fat” *sigh* this is why not having proper sex education and basic girl’s biology not being taught in school is so bad and why “quick ways to lose that baby fat” articles are so dangerous.

Obviously, you’ve never had a child so let me explain something to you. It isn’t “baby fat” that gives you a still pregnant belly look after birth. It isn’t fat at all, and no matter how skinny and in shape you remained throughout your pregnancy, that big pregnant looking belly will still be there right after birth. You can’t diet it away, it’s your uterus. That’s right, an internal organ. Your uterus stretches to accommodate the baby, but it takes literally months and months for your uterus to shrink to what it almost was pre-birth. The “baby fat” you see on women who have just given birth is, in fact, a perfectly normal stretched uterus. Here is what someone who has had a baby looks like after giving birth BECAUSE OF THEIR UTERUS NOT “BABY FAT”

The amount of fat she had or didn’t have is not the issue. She did not have a post-birth uterus.

Also of interest is the last pic before the “birth”, taken just a week prior. Either her fake bump has bounced up at the moment the pic was taken or she was wearing it wrong because your uterus can’t just detach itself and go wandering around your body. This kid was rearranging her insides like a doozer from Fraggle Rock. He was tearing through her diaphragm and clinging to her aorta like his life depended on it. He was up far enough to check her molars for cavities. He was getting ready to use her ribs like a xylophone to do a cover of the song Grey Matter in his new Oingo Boingo tribute band.

  Also, I should mention that you are wrong about there being a bump in the christmas pic, and her more recent posted pic that was a “throwback” not only does the belly size not match what it was in the pap photos of that time, it was taken after all of her plastic surgery. Her face was completely different! Why did they use other people’s bump pics and claim they were Briana if she had a bump? Why didn’t they just show her? Also, her exercise pics taken in the park when she tried to pretend to know how to box, she is wearing leggings and she obviously does not have hips that have carried and birthed a baby. Your hips naturally widen to carry to fetus, and allow for passage through the birth canal. Her hips have not widened. This isn’t something that ever goes back, once your hips widen from carrying a child, they will never go back to the way they were. Your skeleton actually changes. This isn’t crazy larrie theories, this is science, google it.

Danielle Watches Fraggle Rock Season 3 - Episode 22 : Sprocket’s Big Adventure

Guess who’s back.  Back again.  Where the hell is paint.  It’s not under P...it’s not under M for Microsoft Paint...it’s under W for WHAT THE FUCK?

Oh, I do know this should be episode 401, but I go in DVD set order, so.....

Anyway.  Today’s episode opens with Gobo having a bit of a special effect fail as he tries to dig a postcard out of the trash but we see it’s already attached to his hand.  Then he runs into Sprocket.

Gobo tries to be friends with Sprocket and is all “Say my name!”  

When Doc comes back up from fixing pipes in the floor we can see that he’s working quite the combover.

Let it go, seriously.

Doc doesn’t quite believe in the furry creatures in the walls, and Gobo’s left, and Doc is rather preoccupied with his repairs.  And with his monkey wrench.  He says that Sprocket will just have to prove the existence of furry creatures, so when Doc leaves Sprocket “falls” down the hole and starts to dig.

Meanwhile, down in Fraggle Rock...

We got Boober cooking some stew.  Apparently they’re going with a “Boober’s cooking is bad” gag again this episode.  I’m really not sure why they go that direction.  Bad chefs must be hilarious to someone.

Red and Mokey have failed to get radishes since the Gorgs have been chilling in the garden.  But they also do not want to eat stew, and Red threatens to throw it out. They scuffle a bit over the pot when Gobo comes and suggests going to pick mush melons. 

In another part of The Rock Sprocket has finally dug through and I think he’s actually shrunk a bit.

I mean, Sprocket’s size next to this hole was awful when he was “stuck” in it.  But there’s a little “magic” chord going on when he comes out and things get kind of weird.  I think The Rock is shrinking him so that he can go on this adventure.  

Like, sometimes I think that The Rock is the living organism and that the creatures within it are like symbiotic bacteria or cells or something.  Because the next sequence is super weird.

 Voices call “this way” as Sprocket goes deeper and deeper into the rock.  Sometimes we can see the creatures that are calling.

They sing kind of a song but it’s almost creepy.  Sometimes the voices almost seem to come from nowhere.

He finally ends up around some Doozer constructions.

Meanwhile, the Fraggles found one under-ripe mushmelon.  Mokey, helpfully, suggests that they could possibly transcend their hunger if they think of something besides food.

Seems legit.

Sprocket continues to call for Gobo but finds the stew.  He knocks over the stew and a whole lot of Doozer constructions while Cotterpin and friend look on.  She says that next time they’ll be ready for him.  Uh oh.

The Fraggles come and Boober is dismayed that his stew is spilled, as Red had finally become desperate enough to eat it.  Gobo and Wembley are more interested in all the destroyed Doozer towers.  Red points out that Fraggles would have eaten the constructions.

Which makes one wonder WHY they didn’t just eat a bunch of the constructions instead of relying on STEW and unripe melons?  Huh?  Geez way to be a bunch of drama llamas.

Of course, as soon as they all leave the scene Sprocket comes up looking for Gobo again.  

Wembley and Boober have found each other and Boober drags Wembley off far away from The Great Hall - all the way to the Workshop entrance - so that he can cop some feels in peace  so that they can be far away from whatever danger had broken everything.  Boober claims to be practicing Fear.  He also falls in a hole.  

The Doozers find Sprocket and know just what to do.

Boober realizes the hole is from Outer Space and that what broke stuff must have been from there, too.  He and Wembley flee.

Apparently what the Doozers did was go all Gulliver’s Travels on poor Sprocket.  Cotterpin mentions that they work VERY hard on their constructions that he broke.  And they don’t want an apology - they want YOU, Sprocket.  

Meanwhile, Doc has a plumbing emergency and mentions Monkey Wrench a stilted number of times until the Fraggles think that’s what must be attacking them.  That’s some season one BS right there.

Wembley and Boober run off together.

Here’s the switch of the Bait and Switch building up with the Doozers - see they WANT Sprocket to break everything.

They sing about it.  There are worse songs.

Me: Where are all the OTHER Fraggles?  Like, this is The Great Hall and it’s full of doozers.

Husband: They ate them.

Me: ?

Husband: That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Me: DOOZER STICKS ARE MADE OF PEOPLE!

Well after the song, they let Sprocket go and he promptly breaks tons of stuff. The doozers consider  Sprocket a natural resource.

The Fraggles discuss what to do, with Wembley gamely agreeing with everyone’s ideas until they snap at him for it.  He insists they need to find the creature before they can really know what idea is best.  Meanwhile Boober is getting super sneezy, he’s been sneezing off and on all episode, so he goes off to rest.

On his way home he runs into Sprocket and faints.

Sprocket tries to go under a Doozer bridge carefully, but ends up shattering it.  Cotterpin finds him and tries to assure him, again, that it’s fine, they like the destruction.  She realizes that Sprocket probably doesn’t belong here, and takes him to “that other place.”

Boober explains to the others that he saw the hairy monster from Outer Space.  Gobo decides to use Boober’s allergies to track Sprocket.  It’s a little funny when Red says that Boober has to be a hero and Boober retorts that he’d rather just be alive.

Well, as one might have guessed, the “other place” is The Universe.  Junior is intrigued by Sprocket but distracted by Pa.

Philo and Gunge are very unamused and Sprocket is awfully afraid of Marjory until she proves able to speak Dog.  

The Fraggles track Sprocket to The Universe.

These two are doing their usual stupid stuff that no one cares about.

Until Junior captures Gobo.

There’s a cute joke with Philo and Gunge using a “cheap phrasebook” to translate Sprocket’s speech.  Marjory, however, understands just fine and has calmed Sprocket down.

Until he hears Gobo calling for help.  Well, Junior doesn’t want to wake Pa, so Gobo and Sprocket make as much noise as possible and Junior trips over a clock which I think ends in a dick joke with the Cuckoo popping up roughly from between Junior’s legs.

Anyway, noise noise noise and then Junior let’s Gobo go and he and Sprocket retreat.  And Junior uhm...chokes the chicken.

Well, Gobo talks it over with Sprocket at the entrance to Outer Space.  He says that the Trash Heap told him (when????) what Sprocket wanted.  Gobo gives Sprocket a bracelet saying that will mean that Doc “has to” believe in Fraggles.

Yeah, that’s stupid, Gobo.

They part ways.

And of course Doc mistakes the bracelet that Gobo never really wears for a washer and the status quo is preserved.

Episode : 6/10

This is a good episode to start a season, which is what it really is.  It reintroduces the Fraggles, the Doozers and their society and values, and the Gorgs, and the Trash Heap.  Unlike some other episodes that have a lot going on this one feels pretty natural - except for the initial “what are we going to eat there’s only food everywhere” conflict.  It’s pretty solid but some poor puppetsmanship drives it down a bit.  Gobo’s pre-stuck postcard, Wembley’s poor arm motions, and other bits and pieces aren’t the best work.  Also, we don’t get to spend a lot of time with any one group so it feels rushed.  Better to be rushed than slow.  A good experience, an average Fraggle Rock episode.

Message : 4/10

"It always helps to learn a second language” is a message I can get behind.  

Heh. No. It’s not really a messages as much as it’s a “myth arc” episode about the connected nature of everything.  The Fraggles work together to find an answer and help Sprocket - who they have come to consider a friend.  It’s nice to see them not being as terrified or antagonistic with Junior.  Wembley doesn’t exactly stand up for himself, but he doesn’t exactly fold completely either.  Subtle changes but there’s some definite progression here, but it doesn’t form a single cohesive point.

Songs: 4/10

The songs aren’t really good this time.  “This Way” serves a purpose though it’s an odd purpose.  Does The Rock will this to happen?  Both are kind of forgettable as songs though, to me.

Random Observations:

This follows “Bells of Fraggle Rock” on the disc and boy is THAT a hard act to follow.

It’s one more episode on the disc after this.

More stuff for Boober X Wembley as they spend a lot of time together this episode even when it might have made sense for Wembley to follow Gobo.

Less of Mokey and Red this episode.
