Julie Lillie was thrilled when her presentation for an educator conference hosted by the Arizona Department of Education was approved last fall. The former classroom teacher and literacy coach turned consultant would get to speak about an issue close to her heart: culturally relevant and trauma-informed tools to support students.
Then, in January, she got a message saying her conference session was canceled. She wasn’t alone. Other presentations on racial trauma, gratitude, creating a culture of care, diversity and equity skills for school leaders and family engagement were also removed from the agenda.
Republican Tom Horne returned to leading the Arizona Department of Education in January, promising to eradicate teaching on diversity and equity and eliminate the use of social emotional learning in Arizona schools.
Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.
The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning, a national non-profit credited with developing the concept of social emotional learning, describes it as a tool to help young people regulate their emotions, establish and maintain relationships, and show empathy for others — all skills the organization says are essential to learning.
The Horne administration considers social emotional learning, diversity, and equity to be Trojan horses for critical race theory, an academic concept examining how race impacts U.S. institutions that some conservatives use to characterize any race-related instruction. Horne, during his campaign to replace Democrat Kathy Hoffman as Arizona's Superintendent of Public Instruction, declared "war" on critical race theory.
The shift in what presentations are welcomed to the statewide teacher conference run by Arizona's education agency offers an early look into how the Horne administration will impose its conservative priorities from within an office with a primarily administrative function.
The nixed presentations were replaced with sessions on improving math instruction, suicide prevention and how to improve a student’s academic performance, according to the education department. The conference is set to start in Tucson on Wednesday, Jan. 25, and run until Friday, Jan. 27.
“The presentations that were removed don’t address core academic issues such as teaching reading, science and math,” said department spokesperson Doug Nick.
Lillie said the Horne administration’s battle against diversity and supporting students’ social and emotional needs through classroom instruction will be harmful.
“We’re just doing such a disservice to our educators and leaders,” said Lillie, who now creates curriculum, gives presentations and works with school districts on implementing an idea called peace education, which includes social emotional learning.
'Our communities are being heard':Arizona's Legislature is most diverse in state history
Michaela Rose Claussen, an education consultant whose presentation on how school leaders can empower educators and address burnout through social emotional learning tools was eliminated from the department's conference, also said she is worried that excising social emotional learning from schools will hurt students and staff.
"When students enter the classroom, I think the assumption by some folks is that they just enter ready to learn. But there are different levels of experiences and often trauma that students are bringing into the classroom with them," said Claussen. "And they're not quite developed yet emotionally, like we are as adults, to leave it at the door. So we have to really be cautious about how are we paying attention to student needs."
The Horne administration, however, holds that social emotional learning has no place in the classroom. They regularly hear from teachers "who disagree with being compelled to use social emotional learning curriculum instead of teaching core subjects," said Nick, the education department spokesperson.
That doesn't line up with national research, according to the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning, which points to a 2022 Pew Research poll that shows about two-thirds of parents said it is important their children’s school teaches social and emotional skills.
“There’s no real controversy among parents or educators,” said Justina Schlund, director of the organization's content and field learning.
Transgender rights:Bill to restrict names for transgender students advances at Arizona Capitol; Hobbs won't sign it
In addition to axing presentations at an educators' conference, Horne has eliminated the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Department within the Arizona Department of Education.
Daniel Liou, an associate professor of educational leadership at Arizona State University’s School of Education, said he is concerned about that change. The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Department, he said, was intended to recognize that some groups of students may require additional resources to close academic achievement gaps, including students learning English, Indigenous students and students experiencing homelessness.
Getting rid of the office and the person who ran it sends the message that the “success of some students is more important than others,” said Liou. “We know that historically these populations have been experiencing inequitable educational outcomes, and at the same time, they're being impacted by the pandemic, so it was important to at least maintain that office, if not expand it.”
Horne disagrees with this assessment of the role of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Department.
"The word ‘equity’ in the common English usage is a positive word. However, in the context of Critical Race Theory, it has come to mean equal outcomes by racial groups," said Horne in a statement. "My belief is that we are all individuals, not exemplars of whatever particular ethnic group we were born into."

Spirit gets arrested and Isaac bails her out
Lo and Behold, the friendship between Spirit and Isaac.
Isaac was in the middle of his textbook when his phone started to ring. Chewing on the eraser of his pencil, he looked at the screen. It was an unknown number.
He picked up the phone and held it up to his ear. “Hello?”
He was answered by a machine’s voice. “This is the Tucson Police Department, calling for inmate Spirit Mitchel.”
Isaac’s eyes flew open like saucers. “Holy shit,” he breathed.
The machine continued. “Press one to accept this call.”
Isaac didn’t hesitate. He pressed ‘1’ and the call changed lines. Suddenly, he heard Spirit’s monotone “Hello?”
“I’m gonna bring a camera,” Isaac said, smiling like a madman.
He could hear how annoyed Spirit was when she said, “Do that, and you’re dead.”
“The hell did you do?” Isaac said, getting up and grabbing his keys.
“Can you pick me up?” Spirit deadpanned.
“Already out the door,” Isaac said, hurrying out of his apartment. “Now answer my question.”
He heard angry silence for a second. Then, “Got in a fight. A big one. In public.”
Holy cow, this is too good, Isaac thought. “I’m on my way.” It was taking everything he had not to laugh.
“Don’t sound so damn happy about it,” Spirit grumbled. Then she hung up.
— — —
Isaac was true to his word, and he did have a camera.
He was grinning like crazy, telling every cop he saw to smile for the camera. They all did. Cool guys, they were.
It was a 200 dollar fine that he paid. He’d hold those 200 dollars over Spirit’s head for a long time (#TrueFriends).
Finally, Spirit came out, and Isaac took a picture before he even realized what she looked like. His smile instantly fell, replaced by a look of shock.
Her face was bruised badly. There was a cut on her forehead and her lip was split. She looked pissed. Especially when she saw Isaac’s camera.
The officer bringing her out didn’t look at all older than them. He also looked slightly familiar. He had dried blood above his lip. He must’ve had a bloody nose. Isaac had a feeling that it was Spirit’s fault.
Another officer brought a yellow package—full of Spirit’s stuff—and handed it to her. She didn’t thank the officer and she glared at the other officer that brought her out before he let go of her arm.
Spirit walked up to Isaac, glared at him, and started walking away.
“Hey,” Isaac said. “No ‘thank you’?”
“Shut it, Isaac,” Spirit deadpanned, walking out of the police station. Isaac stopped just by the door and held up his camera. “Say cheese,” he said to all of the officers. They all did, and he laughed while taking the picture. Then yelped when a strong hand grabbed the back of his shirt and yanked him back. “Asshole,” Spirit grumbled.
They got into Isaac’s car and Spirit glared out the window, arms crossed. “Just take me to my dorm,” she said. “And. . . yeah, thanks.”
Isaac didn’t even turn the car on. He looked at Spirit, both amused and worried. He noticed she was limping a little while walking. “Hey, Spirit,” he said, “as funny as this all is, you look like shit. You okay?”
Spirit glared at him. Isaac couldn’t help but think that the blood on her face was as red as the red-dyed streaks in her hair.
“I’m fine,” she spat. “Just take me home.”
Isaac sighed and turned on the car, pulling out of the police station.
They were silent for a few minutes before Isaac had to ask, “Did you hit that one cop? The young one with the bloody nose?”
Spirit said nothing. But she did nod, stiffly.
Isaac chuckled. “Why?”
“He was the guy trying to break up the fight. He tried to pull me and the other guy apart, and I accidentally got his face with my elbow.”
“He looked familiar.”
“He goes to our college. Criminal Justice major.”
“And, you got into a fight why?”
Spirit glared deeper. “What’s with all the questions, detective?”
“Just asking,” Isaac said. After a few minutes of silence, Isaac sighed and asked, “Okay, can I just ask one more question?”
Spirit said nothing, and Isaac took it as a yes. Well, more like a whatever.
“Why’d you call me?” Isaac said. “Not Birdie or Jordan or literally any of the others.”
Spirit shrugged. “Birdie lost her phone last week, Jordan and Eliana are out of town, Amberlynn’s practicing in the theater all day for her next show, Keiko’s been exhausted with night classes, and Oliver is terrified of blood. You were my last option.”
Isaac sighed. “Man, I love being a last resort,” he muttered.
Finally, the car came to a stop at the parking lot of Spirit’s dorm building. “Thanks,” she said, quickly getting out of the car. But as soon as her foot touched the ground, she maid a pained sound in her throat.
It was quiet, but Isaac heard it. “Hey, Spirit, you okay?”
“Fine,” she spat through clenched teeth. She shut the car door and started to walk—limp—away. Isaac instantly turned off his car and got out, rushing to Spirit.
“I think you forgot what the definition of ‘fine’ is,” he said, reaching for her shoulder.
She slapped his hand away. “I’m fine,” she said definitely. “I tweaked my ankle in the fight, but I’m fine.”
Isaac didn’t believe her. Especially not when she almost stumbled and let out a pained yelp.
“Okay, enough,” Isaac said, grabbing Spirit’s wrist and pulling her back towards his car.
“Hey,” she yelled, trying to shove his hand off and failing. Isaac then noticed the torn skin on her knuckles which were usually just really bruised from her boxing training. Her hands were also trembling slightly.
Isaac opened the passenger side door and shoved her in. “Sit and stay,” he said sternly.
Spirit glared at him. “I really hate you sometimes, y’know that?”
“Love you, too,” he said, shutting the door.
He stood beside the car and quickly called Keiko’s phone. It rung a few times before he was answered with a sleepy “Hello?”
Shit, Isaac thought. Tired with night classes.
He wanted to just tell Keiko nevermind, but he had no damn clue what to do.
“Hey, Kei,” Isaac said. “So, I have a slight issue.”
Her heard movement through the phone. Then a yawn. Then a sleepy, “What’s up?”
“So, do you have medical supplies at your place?”
“Do I— Wait, what?” His voice instantly went from tired to both concerned and confused. “What’s wrong?”
“Well,” Isaac said. “It’s a long story, but it starts with when Spirit called me to pick her up from the police station.”
— — —
When Isaac pulled up to Keiko’s building, Spirit groaned.
“Are you kidding me?” she exclaimed. “I didn’t want to bother Kei; he’s exhausted.”
“Yeah, well, he knows now. And if I bring you back to your dorm now, he’ll just hunt you down anyway to take care of you.”
Spirit rolled her eyes. “Lo and behold, the mother of all mothering mother hens.”
Isaac parked the car and they both got out. Spirit started towards the door on her own, and Isaac hurried to her. “Wait,” he said. “Let me help you.”
“I don’t need help. I can walk on my own.” Spirit shot him a death stare and slapped his hand away. Isaac didn’t try to reach for her again. This girl was the most annoying, stubborn, infuriating person he’d ever known. . . And how they’d managed to stay friends for years was a mystery that neither of them could solve.
When they got up to Keiko’s floor, Keiko was waiting by the elevator, scrolling on his phone. His eyes widened when he took in Spirit’s face. “Holy—”
“Can we just get this over with,” Spirit snapped, limping towards Keiko’s apartment.
“Hey,” Keiko exclaimed, mother-hen-mode on. “Let me he—”
“I. Can. Walk,” Spirit said with a glare.
Isaac put a hand on Keiko’s shoulder. “Already tried, man,” he said. Then he dropped his voice to a whisper. “Prideful little b—”
“Isaac, I can hear you,” Spirit said at Keiko’s door. “And if you don’t want me to beat your white ass till you’re black and blue, I suggest you shut up.”
Isaac shut up. Keiko smiled. They all went into Keiko’s apartment and Keiko told Spirit to sit on the couch.
Spirit sat down, and Isaac stood against the wall with his arms in his pockets.
Keiko grabbed a first-aid kit—which was more like a first-aid duffel bag— and set it on the coffee table, along with a small pillow. “Which ankle hurts?” he asked.
Spirit was still scowling, but she muttered, “Right.”
Keiko gently lifted her right leg and set her foot on the cushion. He pulled off her combat boot and sock and started prodding her ankle. “Does this hurt?”
Spirit’s face was tight, jaw clenched. She nodded. “A bit.”
Keiko nodded, continuing to prod. “Well, it’s not broken. Just sprained.”
“That’s what I told Isaac,” Spirit muttered, shooting the blonde a glare.
Keiko reached into the first-aid kit and pulled out an ankle brace. “I got this when I was sixteen and I worked as a lifeguard. Never really thought I’d use this stuff again.” He put the brace onto Spirits ankle. Then, he reached back into the kit and pulled out bandages in disinfectants before getting to work on cleaning Spirit’s torn knuckles and the cut on her forehead.
“I’ll get you some ice,” Keiko said when he was done.
Spirit pressed her lips into a thin line before sighing and saying, “Thanks.”
Keiko smiled. “Of course,” he said. “Anything else hurt?”
Spirit shook her head.
“Good,” Keiko said. Then his smile fell instantly, replaced by lividness. “Now tell me how the hell you got yourself arrested!”
Isaac grinned. “Oooh, mother’s angry,” he singsonged.
Spirit glared at him, and so did Keiko. “Shut up,” they said in sync.

CAMPAIGN NONVIOLENCE ACTION DAYS: SEPTEMBER 21-OCTOBER 2, 2024
LET’S BUILD A CULTURE OF ACTIVE NONVIOLENCE!
As we launch the Campaign Nonviolence Action Days on September 21, the International Day of Peace, we take our public stand for peace in solidarity with the millions worldwide suffering in wars in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria, Yemen, and many other places. We know that our yearning for and celebration of peace begins with the courage to challenge and end the horror that is war.
When Campaign Nonviolence launched 11 years ago, calling for “a long-term movement for a culture of peace and active nonviolence, free from war, poverty, racism, and environmental destruction,” we knew that all these issues are connected. We must seek justice for all, not just for some, to end war. And nonviolence provides how we achieve this while breaking the cycle of escalating violence.
Here is a brief glimpse of how people worldwide are taking action to end war and build peace.
Standing for peace. In our militarized and war-torn world, it is important that people take a visible stand for peace. With rallies, marches, candlelight vigils, art, dance, music, film screenings, peace poles, 5K runs, prayers, silent minutes, ringing bells, symposiums, sidewalk chalk messages, and more, people around the world will be reaffirming their support for a peaceful world!
Calling for ceasefires. With the horrific violence in Gaza and Ukraine weighing on their hearts, people are calling for ceasefires. In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, they’re marching for Gaza and for nuclear abolition. In Appleton, WI, they’re calling to end weapons shipments to Israel. In London, England, they’re marching from the department of defense to the office of foreign policy to the prime minister’s doors to demand a ceasefire. At Peace Day events in numerous cities, people will make statements, protest, vigil, and send letters to officials calling for an end to war.
Opposing militarism. Wars are waged, built, and agitated by militarism and the military industrial complex. Ending war requires opposing militarism. World BEYOND War’s #NoWar2024 Conference focuses on resisting the US military empire. The Global Week of Action for Peace and Climate Justice (Sept 21-28) is making the connection between war and environmental destruction. The No Money For Nukes Week of Action (Sept 16-22) with International Campaign To Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) and Warheads to Windmills is pressuring banks to stop financing nukes. In Tucson, AZ, the No Money For Nukes Demonstration puts the spotlight on Raytheon’s manufacturing.
With all of my heart I believe each of us have the spark of the Divine, God’s image within us, and our task in life is to strive to bring that image to the forefront of our lives, and at the heart of our hearts is nonviolence, peace, and care for all of creation. As Fr. Henri Nouwen once said:
“We have been chosen to make our pure limited, conditioned love the gateway for the unlimited and unconditional love of God!

May the work of
“figuring people out”
Never replace the work of knowing people
And loving people
And giving them room

A Few Days in Passing
On Saturday we visited Creswell Bakery again for sandwiches and a full loaf of sourdough bread. In the evening headed out to Marcola for an evening of Scrabble with the Grange crowd.
During the day, we also spent a few minutes going through some more instructions for the new Outlook and checked to see if it would fit in the garage. The car fit into the space, but there was still too much junk along the sides to get in and out of the car easily.
On Sunday went to St. Thomas for the Sixth Sunday after Pentecost. The homily was delivered by the Deacon, the first time we had heard him since we started attending.
After church we stopped by Trader Joe’s for some shopping. When we made it home, we had a bit of lunch, and went out to the Albertson’s for some other goods, including cat food and litter and some ant traps. We are attempting to rid ourselves of the pesky little critters that are popping up all over everywhere at all times of the day and night.
I made it to the Sunday night meeting for another week. Three members celebrated anniversaries of more than 25 years, something that does not happen all that often.
There was very little sleep Sunday night and Monday morning, thanks to the ongoing problems with my intestines. After arising very early, I went back to bed in the middle of the morning for a few extra winks.
When I finally got up, I showered and dressed, putting on shorts for the first time, since the temperature for Monday was supposed to reach 80 degrees. If we had stayed in Tucson, I would have had shorts on long before we left town.
Later, Nancy took the wheel for the drive over to the insurance company to set up the account for our new car and to arrange for renter’s insurance. Then we went around the corner to Abby’s Legendary Pizza and got a pepperoni and mushroom thin crust pie. It was our first visit, and we were pleased with the product.
After lunch and a nap, we cleared some more space in the garage so we can hide the new car from the heat. We chopped several boxes into bits so they would fit in the recycle bin. The trash and recycle moves to Friday this week because of the Fourth of July on Thursday.
Monday night I managed to sleep all night for only the second time in the past few weeks. After our morning coffee, games and bagel, we went over to the shop where I dropped off my SSD a couple of weeks ago. They had left a voicemail Monday evening that said they couldn’t get it working or take the files off of it. The next options would be expensive, so I picked up the drive, paid the bench fee, and said, “Thanks, but no thanks.” I don’t actually recall what was on there that I wanted to rescue, but it appears to be too late for that.
Then we drove to Costco and filled the tank on the new car. We had logged nearly 400 miles and used about 12 gallons, which makes the MPG around 30-ish.
We also synced the car with the garage opener before putting it in place. The only problem at this point is the lack of a key for the door from the garage into the house. The key for the front door does not work. We are weighing whether to wait on the rent agency to get around to getting a key to us or simply replace it ourselves.

Terravenger Season 6 - The Bringer of Chaos Arc - Episode 537 (Do Not Copy) - 04.08.2024
A male voice softly called out "Tempus Comminuet!"
The destructive globe that was created by the evil Mephistopheles suddenly froze above the two opponents, Leo and Merlin. The large globe soon shattered into millions of small pieces which slowly sprinkled from the sky. Then the warriors including the newly-formed Mephistopheles looked up and discovered someone floating down to the opened area.
"What do we have here?" asked Merlin.
Leo gave a twisted smile and replied "It appears that the Magician himself has entered the battle."
Terravenger -- Season 6
Episode 537: The Power of White Magic
First, the focused Mercury Fakinos lowered from the sky as he carefully looked around at his surroundings. By the opened doors of the room laid the body of the young cyborg, Darrin Sebastian.
Mercury thought "Darrin Sebastian. He was a follower of the Bringer. But he risked his life to bring us closer in defeating not only Mephistopheles himself. But Chaos itself."
Second, the knight found Kiona Dupree standing before the lifeless Darrin and thought more.
"Kiona Dupree. She was also a member of his team. But she and Sebastian must have accompanied Leo to this point."
Next, the color of his eyes turned from his beautiful blue to a gloomy black as Mercury spotted the wicked Mephistopheles.
"The ki!" He thought. "That strong and murderous intent. It is him, He Who Brings Chaos to Those Deserving -- Mephistopheles."
He finally landed by the right side of the wizard Merlin. And both of them watched Mephistopheles who stood at the other side of the battlefield.
"Darrin Sebastian has died in battle?" asked Mercury.
"No loss,"
The emotionless Leo walked toward the right side of Mercury and replied "Mr. Sebastian has more than served his purpose however. Kiona Dupree as well. Mephistopheles was forced to reveal his true form."
Merlin sadly shook his head and claimed "There may be no way to stop my father now. His power has risen beyond before."
Leo gave a quick chuckle and informed them "Due to his previous battle, Mephistopheles is no longer the invincible force we all once feared. In short, we have a chance in defeating him."
"The previous battle?" repeated Mercury.
The smiling Leo shook his head and reported "It was the poor boy who first discovered the weakness belonging to out former lord. The newly-departed druid of Light -- Kirk Tucson."
"Wait!" called Mercury. "Doctor Tucson has found a weakness of the Light-Bringer?"
Leo gave another chuckle and stated "The Good Doctor has created a small opening for us by using a weapon of the purest light against him. Then the recently-departed Darrin Sebastian has widened the unseen wound on him using a cannon made of the same element. We do have a shot in ending Mephistopheles once and for all. But we must act now, the three of us. And especially you, Merlin. You possess the same amount of the holy element that can pierce through the chaotic power that is used by Mephistopheles."
"That was once said by him," claimed Mercury. "My clone. The boy who wishes to unite with you, Merlin."
Merlin lowered his head as he gave a caring smile.
And Mercury informed him "I had told him to go into hiding. The boy awaits you. He wishes to see you once again, his faithful guardian and only true friend."
Merlin implied "We have grown so attached to each other, he and I. Next to my brother, the boy is the only family I have."
Mercury shook his head and told the wizard "And he is the reason why I have forgiven you for attacking myself and my family last year. But you have done your best to not further hurt anyone at my birth place."
"It was ordered by my father to test my abilities of both you and Young Tai Ravenstone," stated Merlin. "We were to use Tai Ravenstone as the replacement for the true vessel."
Merlin turned to the wicked Leo and revealed "But Tai was then slaughtered due to His interference. Thomas Faust, also known as Leo. He was the reason why one of Kinockee's best soldiers had killed your student. Neither Mephistopheles or any of us were responsible."
Then the remorseful Merlin lowered his head and told Mercury "But I will take responsibility for what has happened regarding your student."
"Leo will be dealt with once we have finished here," said Mercury.
The knight faced Leo and told him "Once we have properly taken care of Mephistopheles, I will capture you. And you will be tried for all the crimes you have done."
The sly Leo shook his head and replied "We shall see after this battle ends, Detective."
After that, the three warriors faced their deadly opponent once again. Meanwhile, Merlin took off his long coat and tossed it away.
Leo reported "I once said this. Using the holy element Light should be our only weapon."
Mercury walked before them and announced "Leo and I shall go forward while you gather your energy. We will put a stop to Mephistopheles with this one attack. And be certain that you perform the most destructive technique."
Merlin lowered to his right knee as his hands were placed together.
He softly called "Spirtuum Colligentes!"
The violet-red light faded his body. Then a ball made of a soft silver light gathered around the young wizard.
Merlin informed Mercury "Got it. I will bring out the entire energy I have reserved inside me. And I shall perform a spell that may lower Mephistopheles to a weaken state. Then we can finally end him."
A circle of green light shined around his feet as Leo said "I rather not be ordered by the likes of you Detective. But I shall comply this one time."
A large clear bubble soon formed before the black-eyed Mercury as he called softly "Lateximpulsus Incantamentum."
Next, Leo threw his left hand forward.
He called out "Cranium Clamor!"
A skull of purple energy that was the same size as Leo's head formed from his hand. He shot the projectile into the large bubble. And the explosion of the bubble formed a cloud of smoke which spread around the entire room.
The covered Mephistopheles looked around as he asked "What sorcery is this?"
After that, the determined Mercury blew a large gust of red wind from his body which created cuts on every part of the great demon's body. Mephistopheles soon blew a large wave of black wind that was shaped as a ghost. And that projectile blew away the cloud of smoke immediately.
Leo summoned five orbs of black energy before him which created a large wall of silver light in front of him and his teammate.
"Elementum Crystallis!" called Leo. "Ostium Absconditum!"
Then Mercury placed his hands forward.
"Confringe Crystallum!"
The wall of light quickly shattered into millions of pieces which shot at their opponent. Mephistopheles jumped into the air in order to dodge the assault. And a pair of wings appeared from his back that were made of dark-purple feathers.
Mephistopheles fired small needles made of dark-red energy from his palms as he softly called "Grand Execution!"
One of his enemies -- Leo -- formed a globe of purple light around himself which protected him from the next assault.
"Caput Daemonium!" yelled Leo.
Meanwhile, Mercury formed a globe made of golden light around him to negate more of the enemy's projectiles.
As soon as the ball of silver light around Merlin had grown as large as an entire room, the wizard stood up and threw both his hands forward.
Then Merlin gave a relieved smile and said "It is now time to end this. You will pay for all your sins, past and present."
A medium ball made of the same energy gathered from his hands as Merlin aimed them at his target.
"This..." He replied. "This energy represents the love I share with the both of them."
While thinking of both the mysterious boy and his little brother, Merlin pushed his shining projectile away.
"White Mage Art!" called Merlin. "Final Gateway!"
And the large projectile had shined around the helpless Mephistopheles.
The fearful demon yelled "What is this great power?"
The light began to penetrate through his body as Mephistopheles gave out a roaring yell.
And Merlin yelled "Your darkness shall end here, Father!"

Common Problems Faced by Hyundai Tucson Owners
Introduction:
Owning a Hyundai Tucson can be an exhilarating experience, offering a blend of style, performance, and reliability. However, like any vehicle, it's not immune to encountering common issues that may arise over time. In this comprehensive guide, we'll delve into some of the most prevalent problems faced by Hyundai Tucson owners and provide practical solutions to help you navigate through them effectively.
1. Understanding the Common Issues:
The Hyundai Tucson, while renowned for its quality, can experience certain recurring problems that owners should be aware of. These include issues with the transmission, engine, suspension, electronics, and more. By understanding these common problems, you can stay proactive in maintaining your vehicle and address any issues promptly before they escalate.
2. Transmission Troubles:
One of the most frequently reported issues with the Hyundai Tucson involves transmission problems. Owners have noted issues such as rough shifting, delayed engagement, and transmission fluid leaks. Regular maintenance, including fluid checks and transmission flushes, can help mitigate these issues. Additionally, keeping an eye out for any unusual sounds or vibrations can signal potential transmission problems that require immediate attention.
3. Engine Concerns:
Another area of concern for Hyundai Tucson owners is related to engine performance. Some common issues include engine stalling, rough idling, and reduced fuel efficiency. Regular oil changes, air filter replacements, and thorough engine inspections can help prevent these problems. It's also essential to address any warning lights on the dashboard promptly to avoid further engine damage.
4. Suspension and Steering Issues:
Owners may encounter problems with the suspension and steering components of their Hyundai Tucson, leading to issues such as excessive bouncing, uneven tire wear, and steering wheel vibrations. Regular suspension inspections, wheel alignments, and tire rotations can help maintain optimal performance and minimize wear and tear on these critical components.
5. Electrical Gremlins:
Electrical issues are not uncommon in modern vehicles, and the Hyundai Tucson is no exception. Owners have reported problems with the electrical system, including issues with the power windows, door locks, and infotainment system. It's essential to ensure that all electrical connections are secure and that the battery is in good condition. Additionally, updating the vehicle's software and addressing any faulty components can help resolve these electrical gremlins effectively.
6. HVAC System Problems:
Another area where Hyundai Tucson owners may encounter issues is with the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Problems such as inadequate heating or cooling, unusual odors, and noisy operation can detract from the comfort of the vehicle. Regular maintenance of the HVAC system, including replacing filters and checking for any leaks or blockages, can help ensure optimal performance and passenger comfort.
7. Brake and ABS System Concerns:
Maintaining the braking system is crucial for the safety of any vehicle, and Hyundai Tucson owners may experience issues related to the brakes and anti-lock braking system (ABS). Symptoms such as squealing brakes reduced braking performance, and ABS warning lights should not be ignored. Regular brake inspections, pad and rotor replacements, and fluid checks can help keep the braking system in top condition and ensure safe driving.
8. Addressing Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins(TSBs):
Hyundai regularly issues recalls and technical service bulletins (TSBs) to address potential safety and performance issues in their vehicles, including the Tucson. Owners need to stay informed about any recalls or TSBs that may affect their vehicles and take prompt action to have any necessary repairs or updates performed by an authorized car dealer.

Enhance Your Home with Quality Windows and Doors in Tucson
Windows and doors are the most vital things both for your house's appearance and effectiveness in using energy. If you are thinking about upgrading your real estate in Tucson, it's necessary to understand what options will make all the difference among others and how you can find the right solution for your window or exterior door to improve function and form both. In this blog, we will present the most significant aspects to consider when selecting windows and doors along with their installation costs and options for homeowners in Tucson.
Why AZ Casement Windows?
AZ casement windows are an ideal choice of window when it comes to choosing the right one for your home. Casement windows are side-hinged and open to the outside, thus they allow for the best ventilation and view. Being tightly sealed upon closing compared to double-hung or sliding windows, casement windows are also very energy-efficient for the two climates of Tucson. With their sleek designs, they suit modern houses; there are also three types: wood, vinyl, and aluminum.
Casement windows are very convenient and can also be equipped with strong locking systems, increasing home security. As you change windows or install new ones, AZ casement windows add style to your home while meeting function. The Beauty of Casement Bay Windows in Tucson
A casement bay window is an excellent architectural element to add to a home if one is looking for a unique feature that adds an open roof to the house. Bay windows are essentially a combination of three windows, where there's always a central picture window flanked by two casement windows, which allows users to take in panoramic views, enhance natural light, and even improve air circulation.
While casement bay windows add a nice aesthetic appeal to your home, they open up interior space by providing a cozy nook to read or relax. Such additions to living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms would make any room more charming and practical at the same time.
Cost of Windows Installation in Tucson
The most significant issue for homeowners usually is the window installation cost in Tucson. Though it may differ with the type, size, and material used, quality windows have been more worthwhile since they can eventually save so much energy and pay off more in value increased in houses.
Window installation cost: Things that affect it.
Window Type: Casement, sliding, bay, or picture windows have different installation costs.
Material: The vinyl windows are relatively inexpensive, whereas wood or aluminum windows may be costly.
Customized: Specialty or custom-sized windows installation is likely to cost more
Installation Complexity: If the installation has something to do with structural adjustments, such as expanding window openings, then it will cost you extra money.
The cost of replacing windows in a house would depend on the options which might range between $300 to $1,200 per window. You can obtain detailed estimates from professional window installers to know what costs your specific project will incur.
Exterior Windows and Doors in Tucson: Updating the exterior windows and doors in Tucson is a good method for enhancing the curb appeal that guests and passers-by see when arriving at your home. However, besides adding beauty to the home, exterior windows and doors further contribute to energy efficiency and security.
Windows in an Exterior: Modern windows can cut down on energy bills by providing better insulation properties. Your house remains cool during summer and warm during the winter months, thus lowering the energy bills. You could also make use of energy-efficient glass options like Low E coatings that block damaging UV rays while letting in pure natural light into your house.
Doors that mark the exterior include entry and patio doors that vary from style to material, such as wood, fiberglass, or even steel. An expertly designed exterior door makes it safe for one's house while offering more protection from bad weather.
Updating windows and doors is a smart investment that increases your home's value but also makes it look much more together in general.Whether you are interested in AZ casement windows, the casement bay window in Tucson, or are seeking to know about the window install cost in Tucson, improving your home's exterior windows and doors is a great investment.
