Cards Steal One Late From Twins.

Cardinals 3 Twins 2 W-Armstrong (3-2) L-Duran (6-7) SV-Helsley (40)

The Minnesota Twins evened the series up yesterday with a win over the Cardinals. They looked to take the series on a hot day at Target Field. The Twins started the scoring in the first inning when Willi Castro smacked an Erick Fedde cutter out to right for a solo homer. This put the Twins up by a run after an inning of play. Meanwhile, Zebby Matthews made that run stand up with 4 2/3 shutout innings. Victor Scott belted a Matthews slider out to right for a solo homer to even the game at one in the fifth. The bullpen stood tall until the eighth when the Twins struck. Willi Castro led-off the eighth with a walk and Royce Lewis delivered a pinch-hit double to left-center that scored Castr. This put the Twins up by a run heading into the ninth. The Cardinals made things interesting in the ninth when Nolan Arenado reached on an infield single. Brendan Donovan hit a groundball to second and Eddie Juilen made a terrible throw to second. The ball went into left field and put two runners in scoring position. With two outs, Lars Nootbar knocked in a pair with a single to left and St. Louis took the lead. Ryan Helsley had a scoreless ninth and the Cardinals took the series from the Twins.

-Final Thoughts- Zebby Matthews had a strong outing. He went five innings and allowed a run on four hits with seven strikeouts. Cole Sands threw two shutout innings with two strikeouts. Griffin Jax fanned two in the eighth and Jhoan Duran gave up two unearned runs in the ninth. Eddie Julien had two hits to lead the team, but his bad throw costed them the game. The Twins hit 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. The Braves open up a three-game series starting tomorrow. Max Fried faces Bailey Ober in a good pitching match-up in Game 1.

Noel Gallagher may have relented to his wife Sara MacDonald by finally learning to how to drive but he says he plans to fail his test so he won't have to ferry his kids around. MacDonald is insisting that he get behind the wheel so he can share some of the family duties by taking their two sons Donovan (5) and Sonny (2) to footie games. But Gallagher has told chatshow host Alan Carr, "My lovely wife is insisting I take driving lessons. She said, 'Who is going to take the boys to the football? And I am like, 'Well you are.' "But I have sussed it, you see. If I ever qualify for a test I will deliberately fail. I would rather be in the passenger seat. I would crash a lot of cars. I have had 40-odd years looking out of the window". 45-year-old Gallagher was famously presented with a chocolate-brown vintage Rolls Royce by his former record company Creation back in the nineties when sales of Oasis' first two albums topped 18 million. Back then, Gallagher used to employ a chauffeur to drive him around. In 1995 he also ordered himself a 1967 Mark 2 Jaguar, paying £110,000 upfront to have it refitted. By the time it was ready 18 months later, he'd forgotten all about it. He said in an interview last year that it's been sitting in a garage ever since, with only 12 miles on the clock.

HOPELESS UTAH JAZZ SHOULD DRAFT CAITLIN CLARK

Hold on to your Air Jordans. The Utah Jazz losing ways could be over. Imagine buying seasons tickets not realizing that the front office would trade away all its good players so the Jazz would lose games. What? True story. At one point this season the Jazz were 26 and 26 — a .500 percentage that could get them into the playoffs. So they traded some players and ended the season with 31 wins and 51 loses. Gone are Simone Fontecchio, Ochai Agbaji and Kelly Olynyk. Last season, they traded Mike Conley, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt. And before that Bojan Bogdanovic, Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Royce O’Neale and Joe Ingles were shown the door. It's all part of a strategy to get good draft picks. Really? Let's trade away our good players so we can get some good players. OK, listen to this: A first round draft pick in the NBA will get millions but Caitlin Clark, if she goes first in the WNBA draft, will make less than $76,000. For real. It's not fair. So the braintrust at the Jazz should do this, offer Clark $5 million to come to Salt Lake City. She'd be worth every cent, maybe more. You're right Wilson, it probably won't' happen. But wouldn't it be nice to have a team you could really root for instead of The Replacements. There's always next year.

SUPPORT THE WINTER OLYMPICS — OR ELSE

If you're not excited about Salt Lake City's bid for the 2034 Winter Games, better keep your mouth shut. It's kinda like being a Republican in Congress who thinks Donald Trump is a blow-hard fraud and rapist with a a crush on Putin. You better keep it to yourself if you know what's good for you. Utah's leaders love the Olympics. Salt Lake City's 2002 Winter Games put us on the map. Finally, after all those years of insecurity we got noticed! Props for us! Now people know we're closer to Vegas than to Chicago, although they still can't pick us out on a map. The 2002 Winter Games were televised but viewers couldn't tell Mormons from heathens. People around the globe were watching and asking, where are all the Mormons. Funny how they blend in so well. The folks from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) were here again sizing up the place to see if they should award the 2034 Games to Salt Lake City. Everyone knows that Mitt Romney saved the 2002 Games after Tom Welch was caught wrestling his naked wife in the garage when the cops showed up. It had something to do with his mistress. Not exactly the kind of news coverage Olympic boosters like. This time around, our leaders have been instructed — no naked wrestling.

Weird. This headline is from The Washington Post: “Here’s why California is drought-free for a second straight year.” Even the band got that one — rain. Duh. From the Deseret News: “Climate change is forcing ants in Colorado to migrate.” News you can use? Daily Beast: “There’s Never Been Anyone More Relatable Than Bigfoot.” Huh? It'a actually a review of the new movie, “Sasquatch Sunset,” about a family of Bigfoot — or is it Bigfeet. And yes, Wilson, it's one of those flicks that probably would be better if you're stoned.

Well Wilson, history is being made as we speak. The Donald is on trial in New York City on charges he falsified documents to cover up a sex scandal involving a porn star right before an election. It's the first criminal trial of an American former president. The poor guy is on a real bummer. So maybe you and the band can give him a sendoff with a little something to brighten his day — or not:

Seeing Donovan in his house, with messy hair, in casual sweatpants and a plain shirt, lying on the sofa eating pizza felt illegal somehow.

We'd hardly spoken since the bathroom incident and the pizza arrived ten minutes ago, making this the longest we've gone without speaking to each other but I know it's because he's pissed off at me, hence why we're eating in silence, watching TV.

My phone rings in my pocket so I shift in my seat and grab it, seeing that it's Robbie calling I answer it.

"Hey, what's up?" I ask, biting into my pizza, as Donovan grabs another from the box, paying no attention to me on the phone.

There was loud music in the background and people talking and since it was a Friday, I knew he was out with his girlfriend and our friends, I knew that for definite when I heard Liam shout my name in the background.

"Evan you need to come out man. We all miss you," he shouts down the phone. "It's no fun without you here," he loudly adds, making me laugh.

Looking at Donovan, he's focused on the TV and I know if I left now he'd be more pissed off with me.

"Sorry man, I'm busy right now, I can't tonight."

Robbie groans.

"Come on Evan, we haven't seen you in ages, come out with us, we're all here," he begs. "Pleasssseeee."

I haven't seen them in ages but I couldn't just go, it wouldn't feel right, not when I and Donovan aren't speaking.

"Sorry, I just don't feel like it right now Rob, maybe another night?"

"Your friend is here though, that chick from the show," he said as a girl in the background laughs loudly. "The blonde-haired chick, she's here with a bunch of her friends."

Before I could ask who the hell he was talking about, a woman's voice starts talking into Robbie's phone, a voice I would recognize anywhere.

"Evan, come out with us, It's so lonely without you here, it'll be fun, I promise," Amanda's sweet voice comes through, with a moan, I also hear girls giggling in the background as the music pounds.

Amanda?

What the fuck is she doing with my friends?

How would she even know they're my friends?

Is she stalking me now?

What the hell is she playing at?

I get up from the sofa and walk away as Donovan's eyes follow me from where he's sat on the sofa in front of the TV.

"Amanda? Where's Robbie?" I hissed down the phone. "Put Robbie back on the phone."

"No," he giggles. "He's busy with my friend. It's just us now- hey, where are you? I'll come to see you," she said, her voice low. "Just us, alone."

Her friend?

Where the fuck was his girlfriend?

What is Amanda playing at?

What the fuck is actually going on right now?

"Put him on the phone Amanda, I won't ask again," I say, clenching my jaw tightly. "This isn't funny."

"I know something about you, Evan Beckett," she said, her tone serious. "You big fat liar."

My chest tightens at her words, as she starts getting on my nerves.

"What are you talking about?"

The call loses connection for a second then Amanda starts laughing as the music becomes more distant, like she's walked outside the club with Robbie's phone.

"Don't try and hide it Evan, you lied about having a girlfriend to me and everyone, is that why you won't see me? Because you're with her?" she sweetly says. "Or… is it because there's no woman and you're actually fucking around with a grown man?"

My heart stops as the room starts spinning and it feels as if the world is crushing down on me as Amanda's words punch me in the gut.

Does... she know about Donovan?

"Do your friends know you're sleeping with a guy twice your age to get roles? I know whoever he is, he's someone big enough to make a nobody like you as famous as you are now, he was driving a Rolls-Royce and they don't come too cheap Evan, nope... I bet he's a producer or some billionaire bored with his life," she cackles, slurring her words.

Oh my God, I feel like I'm going to be sick.. she fucking knows.

"Who's that on the phone?" Donovan asks, coming up to me as I clench my hair tight.

"So it's true," she hums out, hearing Donovan next to me "Or else you'd deny it, wouldn't you Evan? You're sleeping around to get gigs, I can't believe it, THE Evan Beckett is nothing more than a fame-hungry dick-loving slut," Amanda says, laughing as I clench the phone in my hand.

"Give me the phone Evan," Donovan demands, holding out his hand but I shake my head, gripping it harder as I shake my head furiously.

I'm speechless and don't know what to say, I feel like whatever I say right now would only make it worse, Amanda won't drop this and if I deny it in front of Donovan, our relationship is over, after I already swore I would tell Robbie and my friends.

Donovan snatches the phone from my hand.

"Don't... wait... don't," I plead as he puts the phone to his ear.

"Who is this?" he asks, a fierce look in his eye and a scary tone in his voice.

I don't know what she said but it made Donovan more threatening than he already looked, leaving me thinking the worst was happening right now and there was nothing I could do to stop it.

"I'm Donovan Steele sweetheart," he stated his voice threatening. "You know who I am and what I'll do to ruin your life, so let me make this very clear for you to understand," he says slowly. "I'm your worst nightmare, say anything regarding our relationship and I will destroy everything you've built in a few seconds and I'll enjoy doing it, do you understand?"

I'm physically shaking as I don't hear what she says back to him, Donovan moves the phone from his ear and ends the call, then hands the phone back to me with a passive look on his face, as he goes to sit back down.

"She won't say anything," he simply says. "It's sorted."

'It's sorted?'

"What did you just do?" I whisper, feeling like my whole body is on fire. "How is it sorted? She'll fucking tell everyone, Donovan," I shout, as panic sets in.

Donovan ignores me and then goes back to the coach.

"How can you be so fucking calm?" I go after him. "She's going to tell everyone, if you think you scared her just now, you're even more stupid than I thought."

Donovan coldly snaps his eyes to mine, making me freeze, breathing heavily from the panic that's controlling me and my thoughts, thinking of the worst possible outcomes Amanda could destroy my life.

"She won't say anything, I made sure of it," he states harshly. "And if she did, would it be so bad?"

"Yes," I yell, before I could stop myself.

Donovan simply stares at me, like I'm the worst fucking mistake he's made in his life, I see it in his eyes and the way he looks at me like I really am a pathetic piece of shit.

I feel like my heart is crushed when he looks away from me like he's so disappointed in me, that looking at me is pointless.

"I didn't mean that," I force out, going after him as he gets up and walks towards the stairs. "I just wanted to do this our way, in our own way, when we're both..."

Donovan stops and turns around, a cold dead look in his eye as his mouth is set in a straight line.

"I expected more from you, Evan, someone I let into my life and into my home," he scoffed, before smiling. "I would do anything to protect you Evan but if you can't face the truth about yourself, how do you expect me to help you get through this?"

"Fame is temporary, just like everything else in this world but my love for you is limitless, could you say the same to me?"

Donovan turns around and walks up the stairs, not saying a single word more as tears fill my eyes, making my vision blurry, my body flinches when Donovan slams his bedroom door shut, leaving me standing there.

With the noise from the TV in the background and pizza still left in the pizza boxes, I let my tears fall as I stared at the place he once stood... my heart breaking by the second.
