Ink Month 2022 Day 13

Day 13: Woods

Dark swung the axe over and over and over again, listening to it thunk against the trunk of the tree in a heavy rhythm that ached in his chest. He felt himself drifting away in his head, feeling a shiver going down his chest, fingers feeling numb and he could swear he saw his breath when he exhaled. Dark was gone, taken to a place he hadn’t seen in a long time, feeling the same soreness in his body from doing the same task day after day back before…everything. 

“Darky?” Anti’s voice went unheard. “Dark?” He didn’t like the weird trance Dark was in, that distant look in his eyes and he continued to swing his axe, unaware of Anti approaching him. “Dark!” Anti shouted this time, hoping it’d work. Dark finished his final swing, sending the tree falling over and he panted for a good moment before finally looking at Anti. 

“Anti?” 

“Are you okay? You were kind of out of it.” Anti took the axe from Dark’s hand, for some reason he didn’t like him holding it anymore. 

“I…I was?” Dark didn’t resist, he could feel the pain in his fingers from gripping the handle too hard for too long. 

“Let’s get ya back to camp. I think we’ll have Google or Bing take tonight’s watch, they don’t need sleep as much as we do in this place.” Anti held the axe away with one hand as he moved to loop the other through Dark’s arm. He was stopped short of holding him by Dark suddenly moving and holding him instead. A hand on his cheek as he looked him right in the eyes.

“We need to get back, we need to get back as soon as we can,” Dark spoke softly, leaning in close enough that Anti could feel his breath on his face. There was a moment as Anti tried to put his brain back into place, pink dusting his cheeks. 

“We will,” Anti barely spoke above a whisper. 

“Okay.” Dark dropped his hand. “Let’s…let’s go to camp.” He shook his head and started walking away, unaware of what he’s done. 

“Y-Yeah.” Anti was frozen in place for another moment before he snapped out of it and followed Dark.

And since coloring in the eyes is the last thing I do this was staring at me as I was rendering him XD

And a friend had asked me to color in his eyes XD They just didn't specify what color.
