There has been a quail nest in my backyard for a couple weeks and today I saw two babies running after mama. They are so small. Like the size of a golf ball and very fluffy.

I'm giving it 24 hours before I check on the nest because there were seven eggs. I'm really hoping the other five made it despite the arborists, and I don't want them to be trapped on top of the pot if they are just having trouble getting down.

Also maybe these are a completely different clutch of quail. There could have been two nests in the yard after all.

#don't want to check on them before 24 hours are up justnin case they are still hatching #would be very bad if i accidentally startled them or they imprinted on me #but they were also laid inside a potted plant thats a bit high off the ground #i figure if i check and somebody is stuck i'll make them a makeshift ramp of some sort
