To say "but they wouldn't be able to get an higher paying job" or "well the country is underdeveloped so it's normal" or even "they are doing a simple job, sewing isn't dangerous" when talking about how fast fashion ruined and is still ruining millions of people's life is insane.
"From an American or an European point of view we are surprised to see how those people make 2 dollars a day, but it's normal there" NO IT'S NOT.
The people there wash in unclean water, entire families of 6/7 people live in deranged houses that even if restored would be able to contain just two of them, they don't have good healthcare and their job certainly doesn't help help on that matter. They eat what they can provide which is NOT ENOUGH if you make 2 dollars a day!
Calling "accidents" things like the Rana Plaza collapse is even more insane. People that worked there already informed the factory owners of the bad conditions of their workplace, even the same day of the collapse.
Calling it an accident is also an insult to the 1134 people that lost their life while being crashed on by the building or suffocated by the absence of air. After 8 hours they were still finding corpses and also injured people, about 2500 people.
But why does this kind of things happen?
Because a shirt cost 5 dollars and there are a lot of people that desperately need a job. If a factory can't afford to produce a shirt for 5 dollars, be sure that another one will take that job. When the prices start to drop again a fast fashion brand needs to keep up with the competition. The factory, that will be payed less, needs to save money and eventually the owners will start caring less about the conditions of their workers and their workplace.
Rana Plaza was not the first or these events:
In 2012 the Alì Enterprises fire in Pakistan caused 289 deaths and the Dhaka factory caused 112 deaths the same year. To this day people are still suffering because of underpaid jobs and of dangerous workplaces. The danger that they have to experience also extends not only to the collapsing of the building, but to the chemicals in the air.
No human being should be living in those conditions and no human being should be able to blatantly ignore those people.
And this includes the people that keeps buying on shein and other sites like that one.

Tumblr media
questionnaire:
how do they feel about living in sol city? have they always lived there or did they travel from another settlement?
hates it— honestly and he thinks it's suffocating. he spends a lot of his free time in the wastelands and often winds back up in the penitentiary because of his behavior. the only saving grace to the city is knowing that his brother fins is there.
do they trust the council’s leadership? why or why not?
no because the council has too much power, to put it simply and no one man should have that much power.
if they chose their sector and profession, why did they make that choice? if they didn’t, why not? were they happy with their assignment or not?
if he could chose, he would be a scavenger without orders- just living life without borders.
what’s one object that they always keep on their person?
baby knife kept in his boot, just in case he needs a close range weapon.
questionnaire ( mutant vers ):
what is your character’s ability (or abilities)?
raccoon physiology and marksmanship. drawing from their raccoon-like traits, they have heightened agility, dexterity, and keen night vision, allowing them to navigate environments with ease and stealth as well as the ability to perform acrobatic maneuvers and quick escapes when necessary. coupled with their sharp senses, they excel in tracking and spotting targets from a distance. their marksmanship is top-notch; they can handle a variety of firearms with precision and accuracy.
are they gen i or gen ii?
gen ii
what can your character do? what are their strengths?
reconnaissance and infiltration, essentially and very adept at evasion and ambush tactics. basically Axel is good at running away. their keen senses help them detect movement and anticipate threats, giving them a tactical advantage. their marksmanship skills allow them to hit targets with impressive accuracy, whether from a distance or in dynamic situations.
what can’t they do? what are their weaknesses?
while beneficial for agility, the raccoon physiology means they are more vulnerable in direct physical confrontations against larger opponent and their reliance on stealth can be a double-edged sword especially if they are caught in an open area without cover- basically he's cooked.
emotionally, their penchant for curiosity leads them into risky situations, as they might investigate something that typically is too dangerous- axel needs a moral compass. moreover, their focus on precision shooting can make them less effective in chaotic, close-quarters combat where rapid-fire or brute force is necessary. ( they can only rely so much on their baby knife ) lastly, their nocturnal nature also hinders them during daylight operations, causing fatigue / reduced effectiveness in bright conditions.

I had a similar experience to greater-than-the-sword when my cat grew ill. Not being with her while they fruitlessly tried to figure out what was wrong with her, was very trying at the time.
As a retail worker, I saw the best and worst of humanity. I was routinely tipped by customers as thanks "for doing my job". I saw someone pay for someone else's groceries because they lost their job and couldn't pay, leaving them in grateful tears. In addition to our store's curbside and delivery services being offered, we had local young people offer to deliver groceries to elderly people in town so they wouldn't have to leave home and risk infection.
But the bad far outweighed the good, I'm sorry to say:
I lived and worked in a border down at the time. My state did not implement mandates until August 2020. We had people come over from our neighboring state and yell at us for not wearing masks, only to storm off in a huff when we told them we did not have mask mandates, and vow to never shop there again! ...They were back the next week.
I have severe social anxiety and wearing a mask made my periods of hyperventilating worse, as you can imagine. But, I didn't have a medical exemption. Still, my boss stood by those of us that found it difficult or even traumatizing to wear a mask. In my department, I worked with two women, let's call them Jane and Alice. Alice had severe asthma, to the point that wearing a mask set off such bad asthma attacks, she'd have to go home for the day. And Jane's last birth saw her forced into a ventilator mask, so she associated masks with her birth trauma.
Even after mandates were enacted in our state, some of us were told by our boss that we didn't have to wear a mask because of our circumstances. The worst social harassment I have ever experienced happened during this time, as others documented above. When the threat of fines became too much for our employer, we few were finally forced into compliance. Jane, Alice, and I really struggled that first week. Jane had a panic attack on the floor and had to go home for the day. Alice had an asthma attack and had to go home for the day. I had a panic attack in the back, and one of the other department managers (who was an Afghanistan vet with PTSD) had to help me through it. I did not go home that day.
I remember those same karens that yelled at me for not wearing a mask were now very smug. "Oh, looks like you have to wear masks now, huh?" I tried to hide the violent thoughts I had in that moment, but the fact they quickly glanced away after meeting my eyes told me I had failed.
I remember one time, after curfews were put into effect (mostly for teenagers, I should point out), I was followed home after a closing shift by a cop, ensuring I never went anywhere but work and home. I waited a minute or two and left to go get some food at the gas station despite having food at home, my tiny act of rebellion against the stupid curfews that didn't apply to me anyway, because I was a legal adult.
My mother lived in the neighboring state, which had curfews that applied to everybody, not just teenagers. I can't recall what time at night they were enacted, but they didn't lift until like 7/8 in the morning. Small problem: my mother opened at her job, meaning she had to be there before 6. Why her department had to open at 6 when customers weren't even supposed to be on the roads until 7 or 8, I don't know. So, all the department managers had to be given slips that stated they were on their way to/from work to be carried on their person in the event they were pulled over en route.
My stepmother works in a factory in the neighboring state, in a facility with not so great air conditioning. In summer, people typically had fans at their station to help keep cool. During the pandemic, they were banned because they "blew the virus around". I think she said two or three colleagues got heat stroke that summer from lack of fans/air conditioning in combination with the suffocating masks.
I had a coworker who worked at the local nursing home as their full time job. Every week, she had a new story about some poor elderly man or woman, some with dementia or alzheimer's, who had no contact with their families. The saddest story she told was of a man who's family came to visit him, as he was dying of cancer. They couldn't see him face to face. They had to stand outside, in the snow, and wave at him through his window. He died shortly after, not being able to physically say goodbye to his family.
The teenagers I worked with were depressed because they couldn't spend time with their friends in person, were robbed of prom and homecoming, and an actual graduation ceremony. They had a "drive through graduation" followed by a graduation parade down main street. Needless to say, a lot of these kids didn't feel like they had fully passed through that door, like they hadn't really "achieved" anything.
The lasting implications from these events, even in my little corner of the world, cannot be fully known.
We should journal and record what the pandemic hoax was really like...and I mean offline... because I have a feeling this is one the history books and digital world are going to intentionally forget about.
Like remember how they had stores where "for your safety" you were only allowed to buy products they deemed essential. Remember going into a store and sections were roped off and the fucking stores wouldn't let you buy certain things.
I remember going into a dollar store to buy emergency supplies but they were deemed non essential because they were in the camping/outdoor section. I remember that they had employees...regular ass people doing a minimum wage job walking around and harassing customers who were trying to buy anything but food or medicine. Because apparently if you buy food at the store covid wouldn't get you but if you bought a book you were sure to kill yourself and everyone around you. All this during a stage of this "pandemic" where nobody you knew had even heard of anyone who was sick...this was before the jabs came out and people really started "Dying of covid."
You could write a whole chapter about all the times some karen told you to put on a mask and you had to resist the urge to feed them theirs. And remember when they changed the meaning of karen midstream to apply to people who wanted to be left alone and not wear a mask instead of insane entitled people desperate for a sense of power over otherswho make unreasonable demands...like someone who approaches strangers to demand they cover their face so they feel less afraid.

The Top 10 Ingredients to Run Away from in Cosmetics
* @againstthemain
As requested by my beautiful and talented colleague Lisa, this article is all about the top 10 ingredients you should always avoid! If you have these in your beauty product now, I suggest you throw them out. Please make a note of these in an app or somewhere handy so you can bring it with you every time you go shopping! FYI this is my second time writing this, because I am an idiot and deleted the original by mistake! UGHHHH hahaha
#1 Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)
This is detergent, yes detergent which we put on our face, and in our mouths. It is a super cheap ingredient companies love to use. Sometimes it will also be Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate. It is created from Alcohol and SULFURIC ACID! Uh ya no thank you! It is a know irritant, and sometimes contains 1,4 Dioxane. The International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies that as a group 2b carcinogen.
#2 Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA)
No not bha as is beta hydroxy acid, which we use in acne skincare. This is a waxy solid that is used as a preservative. The U.S. National Institutes of Health report it to be a human carcinogen. Animal studies, where they fed it to rats and hamsters (poor little guys) developed pappilomas, and carcinomas. It can also cause skin depigmentation.
#3 Triclosan (TCS) or Triclocarbon
Oh the good old 90s where companies pumped this into every frikken soap. Originally it was for hospitals to help better kill bacteria. But studies have shown that it actually makes bacteria STRONGER against antibiotics. It disrupts hormones, messes with the endocrine system, the thyroid hormone balance, and can make allergies much worse.
#4 Coal Tar (Aminophenol, Diaminobenzene, Phenylenediamine)
NOT THE SAME AS CHARCOAL. Yes this is the same stuff they pave roads with, and cover roofs, and yet people use it on their scalp and body??? It causes skin irritation, and sun sensitivity. In animal studies is consistently causes cancer. In 1775 it was the first substance PROVEN to cause cancer. Workers that were around coal tar on a daily basis sadly developed cancer from it. Long term use causes it to bind to dna and can cause tar warts, ewe. The International Agency for Research on Cancer says its a group 1 carcinogen. Which means it DIRECTLY CAUSES CANCER!
#5 Parabens
Pretty much in every beauty product ever to preserve it. For some people (such as myself) it causes rosacea and dermatitis. The FDA has seen cases of breast cancer and reduced sperm linked to parabens, yet they have not ruled it as harmful??? Methylparaben in particular, causes skin aging, and skin cancer when you go outside with it on.
#6 PEGS (Polyethylene)
The most common plastic in the world. It is found in all of those face scrubs that so many people love. The problem is when you flush it down the drain...its plastic so it doesn't decompose. Most of the time it is coated in 1,4 Dioxane which we know is a potential carcinogen.
#7 Petroleum
This one is dedicated to my mother! Lover of vaseline, I always thought it was so disgusting! Petroleum is from dead animals that get trapped under a rock for years. After the heat and pressure it creates a goo, that people than smother on their skin. It suffocates the skin, and don't get me started on how horrible to oil industry is. Because at the end of the day petroleum is drilled for just like oil.
#8 Fragrance
My arch nemesis! Fragrance is the top 5 allergen in the world! So many companies use it in decent formulas, which ruins the entire thing. I get hives and rashes like nobody's business from it. The scary part is that, by law companies just have to put "fragrance" as the ingredient. But studies show theirs over 15 chemicals inside. Just use fragrance free beauty products, and find a good organic perfume that only uses essential oils. Its higher quality and lasts longer, plus your lungs wont freak out!
#9 Oxybenzone
Found in almost every sunscreen. Just throw it out now. Don't buy it, run away from it. Use zinc or titanium dioxide. It mimics estrogen to a T, and as a gay man I don't need anymore estrogen! But for females this seriously damages your bodies and how it functions. Additionally because of beach bums, oxybenzone has bleached most of the coral reefs destroying the oceans.
#10 Hydroquinone
This is bleach, yes bleach, sadly so many people use bleach creams. But you should still double check if this is in any of your beauty products. The FDA warns that this causes Ochronosis which are blue black lesions. Whats also terrifying is when people get illegal bleach creams they almost always contain MERCURY!
Please leave a comment below on any questions you have!
And please please share this! I can’t tell you how much time was spent on this (twice lmao)
Lots of love
Jaegger
