Faeria, if you have territory on alternia, do you have GHBs?
Tumblr media
"Yes." She says. "a few. Not very hands on with them, really. Everything exciting happens off planet nowadays!"
"In fact, I should probably read those emails my heir regents keep sending me... go make sure Midas and the others haven't killed each other yet..." She jokes.
Tumblr media
"I kid..." She says. "I read their emails. I did pick them to be rather hands off though. Midas never leaves his hive & Tes Roven is a huge source of passive income for me. The Umbrella Lady is independent but not too ambitious. The Golden Calf- I just think that little old guy's funny. He makes flowers!"

Ripsǎhopre, dragon of stone, shaped by both fire and water. A cocoon of metamorphic stone encloses her viscera, and she is so dependent on the mountains themselves that it's impossible to tell where they end and she begins.
Her full appearance is conjecture, but nonetheless she is illustrated here as best we know her.

I was possessed by a thought
Modern-ish au but in a "thousands of years post-canon universe"
In which Lamb did not spare Narinder and when they saved the Bishops from Purgatory, actually put them to rest (aka sent them to the After) and oops, the Bishops + Narinder accidentally reincarnated while the Lamb wasn't watching
(Part 2 here)
In this life, the Bishops are still siblings and all were born with magic; Narinder became a priest, and though the other Bishops were raised in the temple alongside him they chose to pursue careers outside of the priesthood. Heket runs a restaurant (of course), Kallamar makes jewelry and sells crystals (he has healing magic so his crystals are literal healing crystals :) ), Leshy is a gardener and Shamura runs a bookshop (I'm sure you're noticing a theme here- their past lives are affecting their new ones). Their past lives' injuries have actually carried over, only instead of being injuries they're disabilities they were born with; Shamura their memory issues, Kallamar is deaf, Heket is mute, Leshy is blind, and Narinder has chronic pain (he WAS in chains for a thousand years, his muscles were ATROPHIED and his joints destROYED, and you cannot convince me otherwise). Not shown here; Narinder also uses a cane and on his really bad days a wheelchair.
Heket: Get a whole pumpkin Narinder, who can't lift more than 20 pounds:
Why do Narinder (and the Bishops) look the same and have the same name? Well. The world may have forgotten them, but the universe hasn't.
Aym and Baal are immortals from their time in the After in this world, and though at first they were resistant to helping the Lamb, eventually they saw they needed Help™ and had no idea what they were doing, and having been witness and aid to Narinder's job for centuries they knew how to help. Over the millennia they fell into the old familiar role of being the guardians of Death (Forneus is also an immortal so don't worry they're not separated again) and are in a constant state of Done With Lamb's Shit (/affectionate).
... I actually really love how Lamb turned out here. It was fun drawing them Older. And quite a flip with making them look older than Narinder. The society that's been built up is still religious but no one recognizes Lamb because they've changed so much over the last two thousand years, and the fact they're a sheep doesn't raise any red flags as sheep have migrated to the Lands from other continents. They're rare but not unheard of.
The Crown fits in by disguising as various types of pets, though no matter its form it always has one eye. This time it's a bird, and it recognized Narinder from a mile away :) The mind forgets but the soul remembers....

It's so hard to come by life in the wasteland. People living.
But you can't get much closer than ending a long errand list for a struggling town by delivering a baby. Arcade hands a healthy baby girl to smiling parents, who then insist the entire gang simply must attend the baby shower (after they all get their own showers, of course).
It's obviously code for "come to the barn and drink and eat and be merry because we can't afford to give you all the caps we had hoped" but that's just fine. Fine because the food is hot, the drinks are cold, and Darling's swung around just about everyone on the sawdust dance floor that will let him.
Fine because Kane has left his armor behind for the moment, and eats without a care for the safety of his friends. Nearby, Veronica has persuaded both Sally (the border collie) and Sally (the bartender) into kisses, and everything is for once, fine.
Better than fine.
Arcade doesn't know the song. But after the first chorus he thinks he has it down, and protests hardly at all before allowing Darling to pull him out of his chair. He goes with two simple conditions: that Darling promise hand-over-heart to be easy on him, and that he consent to Arcade taking the cowboy hat off his head to wear it himself.
He doesn't know what it means, and no one tells him.
Darling just grins, hoping his blush passes for the drink in his belly, and the warmth in his heart when Arcade grins back.
Sometimes, traveling the wasteland is little more than survival. But sometimes, sometimes, when the mood is right, it feels like living.

So many small details, which make TCF such an incredible story...
Remember back in the beginning, when Cale was getting his first Ancient Power, the Indestructible Shield? How On and Hong were there since the start, and how Cale told them to keep what they saw a secret?
Now, remember when Cale came to the tree for the last time, and was glad that the weather was foggy, because it would hide what was happening to outside viewers?
...I'm 100% convinced On created that fog on purpose. The clever girl figured out that Cale wanted to be unseenand could use some help. So, she created a fog cover for him on purpose. And that was before Cale took her and Hong in. She was already helping out.
It's a small detail, and Cale never realizes it, but it always makes me so happy to find little secrets in the background like that. And there are so many more to find, if you look for them.
Like that time Cale is in the Magic Tower, and the symbol on the wall is a star surrounded by five others. That implies that the Magic Tower was allied with the White Star before it fell. It never comes up again, but the detail is there, and it gives the entire Whipper Kingdom uprising so much more depth to it. Why wouldn't the bastards who experiment on people be allied with the final boss? It makes perfect sense!!
Or how Redika was the one to develop the new magic bombs, and by having Choi Han injuring him so much so early on, there are no more bombing incidents by Arm in the TCF timeline. I totally forgot about that one, and a fanfic had to remind me it was even a thing.
Or the fact that the White Crown, which consumes Dragon blood, left a phantom image upon the bone Dragon which Cale found in the swamp. It implies that the White Star had the Crown feed upon that Dragon as he killed him, and I made a whole theory how that battle left the White Star so injured he decided to break his plate on that spot and leave a piece of the Dominating Aura behind, to loose some "weight" from his over-burdened plate. And how it makes sense that the Dominating Aura would show Cale the glimpse of that Crown for a moment, despite it no longer being there, because the two are connected and the Dominating Aura definitely WANTED Cale to realize something was up.
Or that moment when the nobles are announced as they enter the meeting in the beginning of the story, and every named character plays a role later on: Antonio becomes an ally, and Karin becomes an enemy.
A tiny detail like Mayor Obante witnessing a Dragon's aura, and that Dragon being a "typical arrogant Dragon who tells everybody to kneel", who is later revealed to be Rasheel, and that description fits him perfectly.
So many wonderful details, some of which never come up again or for a long time... They all make this story so much richer.

Actually the time ask made me wonder what date it is IN the town, like are they up to date ? Do they have the same system as the outside, and if so do they keep track of varied cultural holidays ? How do holidays even happen ? Are there a lot of cultural and ethnic mixing in Easthaven ? How do they procure themselves ingredients for holiday dishes that come from hotter climates ? Why was it even called Easthaven anyways, East of What ?!
It's uhhhhhhhh. October...12th? In story. 2023. It is one for one with the outside world!
As for the rest of your questions, answers are under the cut!! Because once I start talking about Easthaven's worldbuilding it's hard to stop lmao.
Holidays have a bit of variety. Some of them (Halloween, July 4th) are very standard. More Hallmark-y holidays like Valentine's Day are celebrated but a bit more niche than they are in the real world.
Cultural and religious holidays are still celebrated, for the most part. Though both places of worship in town are Christian churches; so members of other religions, while having strong communities, don't have those important cultural centers. As such their celebrations are usually a little more decentralized.
Easthaven's population is fairly diverse, for a small town in Minnesota. Most cultural groups are pretty close-knit, but a lot of sharing goes on! It's a small place, and most people are quite neighborly. Maybe unusually so.
Christmas, however, is different in Easthaven. It's very much so considered a religious holiday, and is really only celebrated by Christians.
The more secular elements--such as gift giving--are instead part of a holiday unique to Easthaven. The Squall is a week-long celebration in early December. It's totally normal, and there's nothing at all weird about it! Promise.
Non-local ingredients show up the same way most of Easthaven's goods do--either by random delivery with a very confused driver who is temporarily allowed into town, or by ~magically appearing~ in the grocery store.
As for the town's name... well, that's an interesting question, now isn't it?

*clears throat* The Watcher is a really good protagonist character.
Like honestly, when you think about it, it's really astounding that this series has the same blank slate character throughout the series and yet you can flesh them out thoroughly and give them an arc that effectively and dynamically arches over multiple installments. There aren't a lot of game series' out there that manage to pull this off this well

hyperspecific questions, go:
are any alcohols or drugs popular in either realm? if so, do they differ from the ones found in the human worlds?
Fae Alcohol, especially wine, is the most common! whenever it's poured it takes on the Intent of the pourer, altering how it effects the consumer (the Intent will only amplify existing feelings or make it more likely for them to be experienced-- Silly Wine will not make you silly, it'll just make it more likely that you'll be in a silly mood or easier to slip into a silly mood).
this only works the first time, so you can obtain 'pre-poured' bottles that have an assigned effect. it's customary for whoever called a meeting or is hosting an event to pour for the attendees so that they can show their Intent for the meeting, but for friendly get togethers it matters less who does the pouring. good bartenders are prized for being able to pour Intent to their customer's request, and often cocktails and such have a description for what the specific Intent in them is.
some example effects are amusement, laughter, relaxation, excitement, etc. you can get very creative with it!

i cant believe i forgot to ask this but does ur gala change eye color depending on mood? seeing how he sometimes has redder eyes... 😳😳
Good catch! (b ᵔ▽ᵔ)ﻭ Yes, I do change his eyes based on his emotions. Or rather, I add colours to his default magenta.
Generally speaking:
+ Yellow = Happy/Excited
+ Blue = Sad/Scared
+ Bright pink = Curious/Emotional/Hopeful
+ Red = Serious/Angry
+ Green = ??? but probably bad
Fading to grey = Hollow and lost
Eye shape:
Crescent eyes ◠ ◠ = Usually neutral to positive, or if he's being mean/scheming/petty he's at least only teasing.
Sickle eyes ◟◞ = Ohh, you goofed up! Run.
====================
Now, because I'm THAT kind of person (*ahem* obsessed with him), I actually have an entire reference note about the eye colours I've written him with. (You will notice several of them involve fruits. This is, uhh, semi-deliberate. I always end up following a theme somehow. Because he's a fruit basket. Nah. He just feels like a 'fruits' person to me.)
Magenta = Neutral
Black = Asleep or has given up
Apricot (++Y –R –B) = Happy
Salmon (+Y –B) = Excited
Peach (+Y) = Content/Nostalgic
Bright flaring/shimmering pink (+P –R –B) = Curious/Hopeful/Positively surprised. He briefly gets some childlike wonder back.
Raspberry (+R +B –Y) = Sceptical/Suspicious
Purple (++B) = Discouraged/Sad
Desaturated purple (+B –R –Y) = Scared
Plum purple (+R ++B –Y) = Weirded out
Ruby red (++R –Y) = Serious/Becoming angry
Crimson sickles (++R –B –Y) = Angry enough to inflict harm, lucid enough to do it on purpose. If he attacks it will be laser-focused 'Smite this guy/thing in particular.' violence.
Blazing red/scarlet (+R +Y –B) = Uncontrollable rage/blood knight. Manic. Is he grinning? Is he angry? Who knows, but you'd better run. 'Blow up the whole house with everyone in it.' type of violence.
Blazing green (???) = Uh-oh. Something went terribly wrong. And it's about to become everyone's problem.
Anyway. The guy has big emotions. Too big for one person to contain forever.

If you had a world with fantasy clans who all specialize in different types of instruments, like you'd have the Brass Clan, the String Clan, the Wind Clan, etc., then I feel like the cultural insults between those groups would be insane
String Clan is like "omg these guys don't even have callouses" and the Brass and Wind Clans respond with "WELL AT LEAST WE KNOW HOW TO BREATHE"
The Percussion Clan is like "sigh. where would they be without us" and everyone's like "shut up you wouldn't know a melody if it hit you in the face"

Fleshing out the Undead of Barovia:
Over the course of his 400+ year long stay in Barovia, Strahd has killed a lot of adventuring parties, and these fallen heroes are cursed to wander the land as the zombies and vampire spawn that terrorize future parties.
Something I've noticed, both as a DM and Player, is that player characters, even when made to fit within a particular setting, have a degree of "main character energy" in their designs that NPCs lack. There is more evidence of a fully developed character, with relationships and life experiences, in comparison to the NPC I had to name on the spot when the players started asking questions.
As I'm working on my next run of Curse of Strahd, I'm looking to add more personality to the fallen heroes, basing them off real player characters, to make them more relatable to my players, and make death seem like a realistic possibility for them.
I'm in the process of sacrificing collecting player characters, who will get to cameo in my campaign! (: The results will be compiled into a spreadsheet for others to reference and use in their games.
CoS characters are ideal, but BG3 characters and PCs from other campaigns are also welcome! There's no limit on how many submissions one can give, I'm looking to get as many characters as possible. (:

Thought about asexuality in the omegaverse for 5 seconds too long 20 dead 40 injured
Thinking you'll never be able to have a successful or stable relationship with any alpha or omega mate because of the staggering importance society places on fulfilling a mate's needs during their mating cycles, and just mating in general. Having family or friends or even colleagues who pose sex as this inevitability you'll probably come to face and accept because society is just so driven by it.
Going through mating cycles alone can be physically demanding enough but having that made worse if you're sex repulsed. Not having any pack members or a mate that can alleviate things nonsexually with scenting and cuddling and things like that. Having those people around you, but they can't help because they don't understand or refuse to understand and adapt to your needs.
Some people just luckily have lighter mating cycles. Some people have extreme ones. Then they'd have to take medication just to get through them. Some might even get surgeries to remove whatever parts necessary to prevent them. Then having to face even more ridicule from people who think they're destroying themself for no reason and should just suck it up and get a proper heat partner.
Regardless, there would be ways to adapt. And be happy. Not everyone's crazy insane

So part of the issue I'm running into with The Godslayer Project is that it is a post-canon story, and therefore wholly original. It takes place a year after Daughter of Disgrace, but most of the characters this time are OCs.
Save for the canonical plot thread that inspired this entire story, I'm essentially expanding the world of JJK, including introducing a sinister new villain I'm excited to unveil. I think my two or three readers will love them, actually. I think this is the longest I've spent on an outline for any story I've written, including my first novel [I don't even think I outlined that really god...but I was 17 it's whatever].
I even have a section specifically highlighting the major conflicts in the story and how to puzzle it all out. I've been inspired by a lot of other talented writers in the JJK fandom [see my fic rec tag] with regards to building tension [both sexual and non-sexual]. So in a way this fic is me sort of testing some new writing abilities, trying some new things, etc.
I'm excited.
