A choked sound followed his bellow when he realized those exact words were used by his father when he was yelling at his mother his entire childhood. He flinched viscerally before turning away from Will and cupping his hands to his face, shaking his head and hissing slow breaths. "Fuck... Will, I'm sorry." He pushed his hands up into his hair and clenched the curls at the top, squeezing his eyes shut. "I don't mean to get like this, I really don't. You deserve better. I just... don't know why I'm like this sometimes."

Tears spring to the corners of his eyes and he clears his throat, swallowing multiple times to suppress the urge to cry. He didn't understand why he always had to lash out at the ones he loved the most. And he was being a bad model for Willow, who could surely hear their arguments from her room. He did not want her to grow up like he did with a dad that had a hair trigger temper, yelling at the top of his lungs, slamming doors, and stomping around like a tyrant. She deserved better than that. So did Will.
