Ever since May's pregnancy had come to light they had been thinking on how to inform his daughter of their relationship. The main concern being that they weren't sure how Charlie would feel about her dad being with someone other than her mother.

At over the 3 month mark already, they were swiftly running out of time before things became a little too obvious.

The sound of the chainsaw is startling and does get a jumping sort of reaction, but once he looks over he rather goes into 'appear behind the mysterious figure to grab them' mode - as if it's an automatic reaction

Then he recognizes the soul signature, and lets go.
