Like that anon I don't understand the hype for Azriel either and I'm not one of those ppl who wants to do the opposite of being hype and act all different on something that is hyped, no. I always want to be hyped like rest of the fandom but honestly I don't understand this one lmao. I was all confused after finishing the books and I was like this is your man? Really?

Gwyn is in top five of my fav sjm female characters, I adore her sm and I can't wait for her book if sjm wants to dive into her character so I gotta protect my baby first!! STAY AWAY FROM HER AZ!!!

I think there are some of us who know Gwyn and Az will be good together, it's clear based on the interactions they've had and the fact that they're both competitive and while loving their friends and family, still enjoy keeping to themselves at times in quiet, shadowy places. It's also hard to ignore that his shadows respond to Gwyn is a way that's adorable to read about.

The argument doesn't even need to be, "they're afraid of Elain" or "they don't like Elain" because his shadows do all sorts of things with all sorts of people (despite Az telling us they vanish when she's around).

Really, the only thing we need to know about his shadows is that regardless of what they do with everyone else, Gwyn is the ONLY one they've responded to in the way they have. Curiosity, playfulness, singing in answer to her song.

It doesn't matter if they like or don't like Elain, they've never been playful with her the way they have with Gwyn and that's major.

We know Az is ending up with someone so it's clear to see who his match is and support that match because it's a good setup.

If I focus on the potential than it's easy to ship Gwynriel. But when I stop at look at the current reality, there are way too many hens in Azriel's henhouse and the Az right now needs to be far away from Gwyn until he gets his head on right.

I'm glad Gwyn is in the dark on how he acts around Mor and Elain. I am glad she's never been in the room with Az at the same time as the other two. I'm thankful SJM has written it where Gwyn has separation from all of that because yeesh. It is not pretty and I kind of hate that Gwyn's first romantic encounter of her choosing (unless SJM has her dipping her toes into the dating world with someone else) is with a guy that's got such a messy love life right now. She does deserve better than who Az currently is.

We know that will change and I trust SJM will do her best work to show us that Az is in a better place before moving on with Gwyn.

For now, I am glad he admires her for her hard work and skill. I'm glad he believes in her ability to make it through the Rite. I'm glad he found her irreverence charming and wants her to be happy.

But I am REALLY glad he's not shown any sexual / romantic interest in her yet (I still think he's clueless as to why the thought of Gwyn's happiness made him smile) because I'd like to see his past become his actual past and staying there while he spends a little time not obsessing over females before their story picks up.

Overall:

How does Ming live knowing he never faced Joe's original body while having sex?! That fact will haunt me like this show I feel like didn't touch enough on the horrors and despair of a permanent body switch bc I think in most fiction, the people switch back but here... Joe is just stuck in this random guy's body forever while his own body was cremated... horrific omg.

I knew going into the show that Ming is supposedly a terrible person who treats Joe shittily and Joe keeps going back to it and I think that preparation helped me really enjoy the show. The show redeems Ming by the end but it doesn't necessarily pretend that Ming actually treated Joe well back then, Ming's shittiness was the point. It's a fun show and I was excited to see Ming realize how much Joe truly meant to him rather than his crush on Tong.

I found Ming and Joe so cute together man, like when the times were good, they were soooooo good. I know people at the start wanted Joe to grow a spine and move on but I was curious how they'd make it work.

Why did they try to redeem Tong at the end?! I still hate that guy and May should've divorced him fr, I also can't fucking believe he dared to ask "would you still like me if I wasn't famous, May?" like motherfuckerrrr she's staying with you despite you causing so much trouble and getting into so much debt, how dare you accuse her of such shallow things? You're the one who is there for money, you piece of shit. aghhhhh fuck him fr

I feel like this ship would be soooo good for character study fics but I'm not skilled up, how sad.

Overall, a good show, definitely one of the better BLs this year and one where I wasn't disappointed compared to the hype.

ok so after 6 days and 70 odd hours, i finished andromeda. and i really liked it. there were also some things i didn’t like as much, but i’ll go at it by parts.

what i liked:

the overall hopeful tone. it has a really great star trek-y vibe, which as a massive star trek fan, delights the fuck out of me. that might not appeal to everyone, i don’t know what’s the tone of the original trilogy, i never played it, but i suspect it’s much darker. if you like star trek tho, you’ll enjoy andromeda to hell and back. that’s the best compliment i can pay. if you’ve always wanted a star trek open world game, andromeda scratches that itch something fierce. 

the combat. this is the first mass effect game i’ve ever played, because a) i dislike sci-fi games (sci-fi is my favourite genre of everything else, just not video games) b) i dislike 3rd person shooters ( the only other shooters i’ve ever played are fallout and bioshock, and that’s because they’re what i call “fun shooters”, they make shooting up mooks fun, and andromeda blissfully does this too, albeit not to the enormously satisfying level of bioshock, but on par with fallout)

the loyalty missions. it’s a bioware game, this one is a no-brainer. and in terms of action and duration, they are a lot deeper than in dragon age games, but, i’ll say, some of them don’t do much in terms of satisfying character development. all companion quests in the dragon age series do this a lot better. but over the course of the game, and through main, and secondary quest reaction cutscenes, most of the tempest crew does get some sort of character development.  

lots of cutscenes, even for secondary quests. what can i say, i love cutscenes, and having the opportunity to be a smartass as often as possible. seeing as the lack of secondary quest cutscenes is one of my biggest gripes with da:i, i was really happy that there were so many in andromeda. there could be more tho, i’m talking da2 levels of unnecessary cutscenes to send me to my happy place. 

kadara is amazing, has some of the funniest side quests in the whole game, one of the most engaging and rewarding questlines, and some really well-written characters. plus,  sloane kelly is voiced by indira varma, the same actress who voiced vivienne, and reyes vidal is voiced by nicholas boulton, the same actor who voiced hawke. enough said. all aboard the kadara dlc train

the turian ark rescue mission, i uhm...needed to walk away for a moment after that one. really atmospheric quest.

the missing memory questline is surprisingly rewarding, i say surprising because it was a pain getting some of those memories.

ryder is ryder, i can only compare andromeda to dragon age games, but ryder resembles hawke, a lot more than the warden or the inquisitor, you can make different dialogue options, but the tone is set, and you can’t really go against it. ryder is ryder, but that’s okay, because much like hawke, i happen to like ryder. instead of the sarcastic option you have the casual option, which when paired with the emotional option, leads to what i like to call: bleeding heart asshole, and it’s amazing.

so much background dialogue, it can become a little bit of a cacophony at times, but i like hearing it nonetheless, makes the world feel really alive.

lots of banter, no one shuts up in my game, between my squad, SAM talking about the weather, and ryder pointing out every single thing that came up, i don’t think i’ve gone more than five minutes in silence...but that also leads me to:

what i didn’t like:

lack of romance specific banter. i romanced jaal with scott in this playthrough, and was disappointed that there was no acknowledgement by any of the crew during banter. i didn’t realise this, but jaal was made available very recently as a bisexual option with patch 1.08, so that might be the reason for it. but i did a few searches and there were other ppl complaining about the lack of romance banter for other characters so it might be a general thing. i live for this, and there was so much of it in da:i, and da2, i really felt its absence. it seemed that when i was romancing sera in my first da:i playthrough it was all my party wanted to talk about, and i.was.living. - still, in my next playthrough with sara i’ll romance either peebee or vetra and then i’ll be sure if it is as lacking as i suspect.

the prologue. the only reason i even played as scott in the first playthrough was because my first save with sara got corrupted when i was playing during the origin installation, don’t ask me how that happened. but the sheer prospect of playing through the prologue again was so daunting that it made me start over with scott so it wouldn’t be all the same. the game is very worth it, but the prologue is uhm...a trial.

the nomad. listen i got better at driving the damn thing, but why the fuck do i need to steer with the keyboard instead of with the mouse? what’s the damn point, but it’s fine, it became fine eventually...except, being in the nomad, and the fact banter really only fires in the nomad, meant i had no desire to get out and explore, unless it was for a specific quest. points of interest? i drove right by. and this really frustrates me, because i actually loved exploring every nook and cranny in da:i, but there’s just no tangible reward for it, your party won’t talk, the planet will try to kill you, and you might end up not doing anything more exciting than killing some enemies.

the archon. unfortunately went to the corypheus school of bland villains, fortunately the remnant plot holds its own, and he’s more of a nuisance keeping you from discovering its secrets. 

none of my choices really mattered, at least not immediately, there’s a few i feel will have some serious repercussions in further games and dlc, but as of finishing the game, the consequences were minimal. 

none of my companions betrayed me/ left forever. what the fuck is up with that? honestly this might be my biggest gripe with the game. how am i supposed to pine if they don’t backstab me/ leave for tevinter/ disappear to study eluvians? not one of them blew up a building. 0/10

while I was reading it I thought "where's the ansgt? what's gonna happen to turn this into angst?" and oop- typical hyunjin, AGAIN🤦‍♀️ I feel really bad for y/n tbh, history is jus kinda repeating itself all over again.

I hav never hated Minho so much in my life(just in only fools ofc😭). he's kind of like to blame here(some ppl too but like he's the main person). he kept invalidating hyunjins feelings and kept telling him to make sure he actually loves her when he definitely knew he did but since he told him in such a weird and harsh way it just resulted into hyun getting confused w them, and also !!chae!! she literally told woo things that weren't even true, LIKE HOW WOULD SHE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN THEM IN HIGHSCHOOL, WAS SHE THERE??!?! NO. and since woo already knows their history of how much they hate each other ofc he believed her so now he's just trying to butt in EVEN THO HE SHOULDNT.

also the way so much ppl kept telling hyunjin false thing such as "oh she hated u, still does, and forever will." THEYRE NOT THE JUDGE OF IF SHE HATES HIM OR NOT OMG😒 I hope the misunderstandings get resolved cause you have me punching my pillows😭

your writing never fails to amaze me and the way you wrote it in a way we wouldn't know what would happen (cause I've seen a lot of author's in Tumblr do that) is just CHEFS KISS. I'm not the biggest fan of 10k+ fanfics but I get so excited whenever you say it's going to be written even tho ik it's gonna be long.

I'm looking forward to the ending and the next written chapter!! take care of yourself <3 I can't believe u do all of this for us, I'm rlly thankful for all of this😭🥺 so please don't feel pressured to releasing a chapter all the time! ❤️

ahh i was worried because it was hyped up so much and it was the center of my story, everybody was waiting and i wanted to do their past justice. also both characters have their reasons for how they act or behave, and i didn't want to paint either of them as a "villain" 😭, so it was hard to write it in a way that both their actions can be justified, either now or later.

and yeah that's the sad part, history repeating. minho definitely did end up confusing hyun regarding his feelings since as his friend, hyun values his opinion and advice to an extent where whatever he says will affect him.

Mirio: Kickin this part off with something nice and happy. This song starts with 'today I feel like running naked thought the streets' and I think that's very funny given his quirk misshapes. Anyway, he only wants to see people smile and thats the main reason this song is perfect and it's very up beat.

Tamaki: A song about anxiety for an anxious boy. But it's kinda more than that. This song is quite upbeat, by a popular band and an album with the most popular songs they've done yet not a lot of people know. You'd know it's them if you heard it but wouldn't name it off the top of your head for them. Idk, I over thought this one a lot

Nejire ⭐: It's so pumped up and positive, I can totally see her singing this just in general but also to cheer up Tamaki and it kinda sounds like her. She's definitely a Mario girl.

Shinso: Completely shifting the tone, we have a jazzy song that is another huge reason I started this playlist. It's litrally him, there is no other song possible for him! Also, The musical video is amazing, please watch it it needs all the love in the world.

Aizawa: Another anxiety ridden man mean another AJR song, I don't make the rules. Yes I do but this song reminded me of young Aizawa, thinking he was just going to mean nothing and 'Can we skip to the good part?' being now with Eri and Class 1A and not the current Manga cos I choose this song ages before hell set lose

Present Mic: This is his go to karaoke song n you can't say anything against it. 'Present Mic and Midnight bitch'

Midnight: Is sexy, would also be a karaoke song for her and feels like she's fightin' with My lady.

All might: He is here guys, did you know that?

Sir Nighteye: Okay this is a little ship-sided and like the Aizawa choice, more of the younger character feel, but I feel like when All might left, he wished his quirk could do more than just see the future and past. He would totally wish he could fix the relationship they had and platonic or romantic, that bond was close and I don't think either one turely let it rest.

Ingenium💙: Tensei, my beloved. He's all about that strong team work and honestly, i don't think this is his music taste but I could see this playing over the chase pannles with the team or just the team in general working and helping eachother.

Wild wild pussycats: Haha get it? Pussycat dolls? Yeah that was the only reason for this to start... BUT It's an old song that was popular when I was like 3 and saying that makes ppl feel old so they Ignore it much like the girls do and I think it's a nice fit. They seem like the type to have been very flashy, not camera shy, wanting all the hype in the prime and the "you just might get it" feels like Tiger mid transition not liking spotlight and later them chillin' out in the mountains.

Fatgum: He's big, beautiful and would love a big girl so like what else can I say here? Man would sing it so much, Kiri showed him it and Tamaki gets shy when they just suddenly burst into song patrolling the streets.

Best Jeanist: No one actually wants to be him and some people would say this is how he handles hate but I think he genuinely believes all haters are jealous of him.

Endeavour: I hate all the songs ppl put for him because it's always the weirdest songs. It was hard to chose a good one but this has a lot of key Enji words like 'Got my legacy set in motion' and the phase 'the bigger they are, the harder that fall' reminds me of the public's response to him

Hawks: Kay so this one was an old choice back in S4 and The start of the manga arc I won't name to keep it spoiler free but i don't want to change it. He didn't really have much choice in things he does so it kinda feels like he's venting to someone. I just think it fits his vibe too.
