THE jeans for your sims!
i feel like it's hard to find good jeans, irl and on sims 4. so if you are picky like i am, this post is for you! i compiled some of my favorite jeans (by amazing cc creators) for your downloading pleasure.
HEADS UP: i have a preference towards the look of maxis match, so that is what most of my posts will be about!
idk about you simmers, but i LOVE a baggy jean... although i can never seem to pull them off. not a problem for my sims though! @jellymoo's perfect jojo jeans look amazing on! andddd they come in pink as well! that's definitely the way to my heart! if you are looking for something a bit less alternative, their wide jeans are also super cute!
y2k will always be in, so don't sleep on @greenllamas's iconic icy set! the jeans in the collection are unique but versatile enough that you could wear with most tops imo. and they are low waisted! did i mention they are low waisted??? (speaking of low waisted, check out the jeans in their mimosa collection as well!)
save a horse, dress a cowgirl! (or something clever like that.) either way, the howdy set by @arethabee has incredible items, including the cassidy jeans. if you are into the western look, this one is for you!
here's something different: @missvalentine142's mackenzie pants from the ms jackson collection have a built-in belt with a heart buckle, and come in 24 SHADES FOLKS. for you simmers who are not scared to try something new!
for my coquette girlies, here is @luxysims's bell bottom jeans - coquette edition. these work for any aesthetic though! specially if you are into the 70s vibes!
finally, if you are a practical girly, here are some cool cargo style jeans: the blue blood jeans by @trillyke. so many cute shades (30 to be exact), and there's a low-waisted and high-waisted version!
NOTE: these are all working in my game right now!
NOTE p2: lmk your favorites in the comments! also, if you are a cc creator and would like me to check out your cc, hmu! i'd love to spotlight smaller creators!
TOODLES! xoxo

rating stobin halloween costume options that u guys submitted!
doc brown (robin) and marty mcfly (steve): 7/10 using back to the future for them is very fun but it's a bit expected... a bit normie.... also steve would just look like himself i think like it would just look like robin was an old guy and steve didn't wear a costume.
kurt russell (steve) and the thing (robin): 9/10 the thought of robin constructing some horrific sfx costume to be the thing is fucking incredible and i think steve would enjoy being sexy kurt russell. also he would definitely tell people he was kurt russell and if they said you mean rj macready? he'd be like who?
snoopy (steve) and woodstock (robin): 5/10 ok i know i KNOW it's cute in theory but think about it in practice. how would they actually do these costumes. we know they're diy'ing this. i fear this would just be like t-shirts with some marker on them and perhaps scary-looking face paint. maybe it could be cute but idk i don't have faith in them </3
bert and ernie: 10/10 this would be absolutely iconic and i think they would slay. no notes.
cagney and lacey: 6/10 i must admit this one was my idea. i think it's not recognizable enough and they'd be explaining it all night but i just love the thought of them having such a dykey couple costume.
bonnie and clyde: 7/10 once again i fear this might not be super recognizable but it is a fun idea and they'd look so hot.
ripley and the alien: 9/10 i worry about how they're gonna pull off the alien but i like to imagine that steve is wearing the panties + tank top combo and that is worth enough for me to set aside practicality.
the blues brothers: 9/10 they would look so sexy and have so much fun in their little matching suits <3
batman (robin) and robin (steve): 10/10 this would be so fucking cute and i Know they would spend the entire night waiting for somebody to say robin's name so they could both go "yes?" at the same time and then giggle like little children.
hammer and sickle: 7/10 idk how they would do this one but i thought of it weeks ago and haven't stopped laughing at my own idea since.
merry and pippin: 9/10 because when i got the ask suggesting this costume i almost cried bc it is just so precious to imagine HOWEVER if they went to a halloween party barefoot i'd have to kill myself.
shaggy and fred: 8/10 very cute but i feel like they need a scooby...
twins from the parent trap (1961): 9/10 this one is so funny to me like it's such a funny reference to make and it also implies that either they get wigs or they get the same haircut which is just an incredible visual.
princess leia (steve) and han solo (robin): 7/10 ok listen. listen hear me out. i love the gender fuckery we know this BUT i truly believe that steve would refuse to do a star wars costume if he couldn't be han solo. like i just don't think he would do it. however if she could convince him then robin would absolutely eat! it would be so sexy she would be absolutely crushing it with the ladies.
miracle max and valerie: 7/10 ok listen i support this one but it's just not my favorite. like it's funny it's unique it's original but i think steve wants to be sexy on halloween and i also suspect they would have to explain this one a lot.
salt and pepper shakers: 8/10 it's giving blues clues and i love it. very much classic couples costume but the classics are classics for a reason!
wesley (steve) and inigo montoya (robin): 10/10 hot. imagine robin doing the little monologue. steve wearing the mask. them fencing with like toy lightsabers or something. this one fucking rules.
ok that's it thank you for attending my presentation <3 love u all xoxo bye

Question from the Fanfic Writers Ask Game:
11. Whatās something neat youāve learned while doing research for something you were writing? Also, how much do you worry about doing research in general?
I'm extremaly curious to know what type of fandom research people do and learn about their discoveries.
Hiiii! Thank you for taking interest in this, I appreciate you sending me the ask ā¤ļø Hmm, I have a weird relationship with research: I always feel I do 1. No research at all and 2. Not enough, when I acknowledge to myself I had to look up at least SOME things for my fics. In general, I am ignorant about a LOT of stuff, so research feels daunting and scary and even when I discover what I want to, I don't know how to incorporate that into my stories or if it's even correct information. I feel super self-conscious about it, which is why I normally don't write fics that require knowledge I'm not at all familiar with. Cowardly, sure, but the potential mistakes are too many for me to take that risk. (I'm learning though! The next fic I'll post will include some Thai cultural stuff related to Dharma that I had to thoroughly study about. I can only hope I won't screw it up.) Self-deprecation aside, I'm going to share some of the stuff I had to research for my fics - posted or not - to help people understand what I mean:
1. I had to look up various medical facts about stabbing (how deadly it is, how much time someone needs to heal etc), due to a scene that involved one in The Knight's Pawn, 2. I looked up videos of Muay Thai sparring matches in order to be able to write a sparring match in The Knight's Pawn - as well as see the differences from western boxing. Muay Thai is also something I've researched for another fic and to properly understand Pete as a character, 3. I had to look up sooo many chess terms for The Knight's Pawn, specifically for the chapter titles and summaries. Fun fact, the title of the fic makes no sense in chess; I told my irl friend who plays chess as an amateur about it and he proceeded to lose his mind lmao, 4. This will sound silly probably, but I studied Bangkok's map in order to be able to figure out a driving path for a trip down memory lane. I specifically wanted to figure out the distance between the main and minor family compounds (fun fact, it's approximately 15 minutes by car and 1 hour via public transport). I also looked up Lumphini Park and it's how I found out about dragon lizards! Very cool creatures, I wouldn't go near one ever, though, 5. I don't know if this one counts, but for the things you can(not) change, I had to watch Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox around 5 times in order to be able to portray the parallels correctly haha, 6. Since just a mission was based on ApoBuild's Bvlgari event, I looked up the venue it took place in, which is Icon Siam near Chao Phraya River, one of the most famous shopping malls in Bangkok, 7. For To Consume and Be Consumed's 1st chapter I had to... um... look up if it's possible for someone to not get an erection even if both the prostate and the penis are stimulated for a long period of time. The results suggested it is, so I tried to not stress over it too much š
The reception of the chapter was a lot better than I anticipated too, so I was happy with it, 8. Now, to start off about the fics that havenāt been posted yet and to remain in the spirit of the horny, I've looked up about autoerotic asphyxiation, if it's safe to use ice cream during sex (it isn't), if it's safe to have sex when someone is sick (it depends), the effects of GHB and how damaging a human bite can be (a lot if it's not treated immediately due to the bacteria in our mouths), 9. In the same realm, I've done a LOT of studying about La PietĆ , the famous sculpture by our boy Michelangelo, so much so that for a while I couldn't escape it - I was seeing it everywhere. I'll keep the reasons for doing such research hidden for now, but it does involve smut xoxo, 10. I've only scratched the surface for this one, but I have begun studying about chronic pain for a post-canon VP fic I want to write. It doesn't involve smut and I don't think it will, but you never know, 11. Again, idk if it counts, but I've read Uzumaki for a NonWhite/TeeWhite fic I want to write one day, in order to draw parallels and whatnot. I'm very into parallels in case you haven't noticed haha, 12. Last, but certainly not least, the most difficult thing I've been researching and will probably never stop researching is Buddhism. To truly get Pete, you need to understand even the basics of Dharma and there are just so many things I don't know about it. Baby steps, but I'm getting there.
#sorry if this doesn't exactly answer your question#but thank you for sending me this#it was interesting to look back and see what I've researched and what I am in the process of researching#I try my best and ask my beta a LOT of questions hahah#ask game

1, 3, 4, 14, 18 for riya, meredith and ellana!
thank youuuu xoxo we ignore how long this took between forgetfulness and having no braincells xoxoxo // questions about creating your ocs
1) What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?
RIYA ā because we knew the campaign at large would span the 15-year long third blight, the first thing i landed on was the base concept of a character who could grow into the type who would willingly brave that ultimate sacrifice to end the blight when it came down to it. obviously with no guarantee of Give Me That Death It's All I Want or even reaching that point, i was just interested in exploring what type of clown i could force into this inevitable character development.Ā
MEREDITH ā god. it's been so long. it was probably her appearance because i went into origins as a baby da fan and didn't know what to expect. which is kinda funny now because her appearance is the biggest change sheās ever had thru all these years.Ā
ELLANA ā on my second playthrough when i knew at least a little bit of what the fuck i was doing in the setting, i believe the first consideration for her was whether i wanted to double down on my interest in the elven culture in thedas that'd i'd developed during my first run of the game or if i wanted to try focused on other aspects (fairly obvious nowadays that i went with the former).Ā
3) How did you choose their name?
RIYA ā i went back into dms with the dm and turns out i chose the name because of the cute nicknames you could get out of it. so pretty much nailed it first try because riya is iconic tbh
MEREDITH ā she's one of my oldest characters which means i didn't do Any research before picking her name, meredith was chosen purely because i've been in love with the name since i first read the vampire diaries books when i was a tween. its meaning being āgreat rulerā was pure destiny, i'll never get over that discovery.Ā
ELLANA ā default name pretty š„°š„° and no i still haven't landed on an extended version of her name, don't talk to me about it i have problems making decisions (someone send help).
4) In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?
RIYA ā without a doubt the fact that mages in nevarra were given an absurd amount of freedoms compared to countless places, i loved that. i believe soon after that i stumbled upon the vague history tidbit that a duchess had donated her āpalatial estateā to become the new college of magi because she had a mage daughter, and that became a solid base for the new pc right quick. riya was shaped so fast between that initial concept and these two discoveries it wasn't even funny. somewhere in there i found the grand tourney business, dunno when.Ā
MEREDITH ā okay so take literally every element of the human noble origin story and its plot through the game and there. you got it. the entire laundry list that had me fucking obsessed with mere since the jump because everything there ticks my boxes. the politics, the family ties and history, the kingdom pride, the sense of duty that's matched in intensity only by the inescapable desire to enact justice (bordering on violent vengeance lmao) for your family and people with your own two goddamn hands because nobody else is going to get it for you. also you have a cute dog right off the bat, that rules.Ā
ELLANA ā her creation is so. muddled to me because she was the first character i ever played a da game with, so most of the influential elements likely just popped up in inquisition at some point or other and nothing stands out there. my best guess would be that the vallaslin and god domains played a good part tho, because there being a goddess of motherhood and justice has been huge for her.
14) If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?
RIYA ā it physically pains me sometimes, but the first is that i have to remember just how privileged this woman was and try to reflect that in what she says and how she reacts to things (i took psychic damage when she blatantly was judging every bit of that little village). second would be that i have to remind myself how much pain and trauma is gathering up in this mage, unhealed and unacknowledged, because sometimes i can forget while caught up in all thatās going on just how fucking bad it really is. iāll go quiet here and there during a scene not because i canāt think of what riya would say, but because i realized something wouldāve triggered her to spiral into the negative feelings and all sheād be capable of is a āhmā or clear i want to get the fuck out of here one-liner lmao
MEREDITH ā number one is that sheās putting noble responsibilities above all else always, sometimes to the detriment of other priorities and even relationships. second is that ācanonā doesnāt matter at all and i can have fun with her story however i want, who gives a fuck. follow the fun and all that. i have to keep this in mind for her out of everyone because she has some Strong negative opinions on certain characters which have some,,,aggressive fans and that held me back for a good while lol
ELLANA ā first is that she approaches things with gentleness and empathy 99% of the time, even if itās not advisable and she has people pushing against it. second is naturally Legacy, because that fuck haunts her past, present and future. she's constantly musing on it for both herself and others, and its influence on her can't be noted enough. i have a vivid memory of pausing the hakkon dlc to repeatedly bash a pillow against my face to let out the emotions i was dealing with because the plot was trying to end my fucking life with ameridan and ellana.
18) What is the most recent thing youāve discovered about your OC?
RIYA ā the first thing i can think of was a few months back with the callout that correctly identified riyaās lowkey desperation to get warden-commander satineās approval as her having mommy issues. blatantly obvious fact, yeah, but it had gone without being commented on and it took me tf out for a few minutes after hearing it. as you can imagine sheās thriving after each positive response from sending updates sent the warden-commanderās way.
MEREDITH ā ooooh, a few things because of that long ass warden sheet iāve been slowly chipping away at in the docs. i believe the most recent is that i never gave this poor woman some hobbies outside of a minor interest in map sketches, so iāve been on-off thinking about that for a little while. who knows what iāll land on, iām lazy. embroidery was a contender because it's the Classic for noble ladies and also i think she deserves arts & crafts fun, just look at her life she needs it
ELLANA ā nothing really, she's been consistent for a long while š¤·āāļø closest thing is that i did very briefly revisit the ancient idea that i think she deserves one or a few kids to fulfill her āmama bearā energy to a more literal degree but that's mostly a goof. 95% a goof. maybe 90%. if she ends up w kids at the end of this week i canāt be held accountable-

Am curious what your fav drink is? ^w^
Oh gods, maybe it's how tired I constantly am but coffee will always do the trick; at this point even decaf tastes incredible to me.
To match the context of Jill bein' your icon (presently), I do enjoy vodka and soda. Usually paired with Dr. Pepper or Mtn Dew, decaf 'cause I live in sugary hellscape America. Just one tall glass, plenty of ice, to sip on for a while. Just genuinely like the taste. Some rum is really good, and honey whiskey is dangerous and I don't touch it even though I love it lol.
Ok gonna' rant about coffee.
UGH I used to work at Starbucks and look, look. Espresso does kinda slap hard, an oat milk cappuccino fills me with an adoration and warmth and love that convinces me religion is real.
Naturally those machines are expensive though, so I mostly have generic drip coffee in my day-to-day. Unless it's particularly bitter I will just have a decent amount of creamer, little to no sugar, and sometimes I make my own cold brew. I prefer coffee quite warm tho.
ok done xoxo
#Ā”thanks for the question!#i think coffee is a borin answer for some people but it's my go to and i gotta live that truth#a spiced masala chai is pretty good too#milky and creamy and mmmmm ...

hi ro!
i know youāve talked about your love for bratz on here, so i was wondering if you had any opinions on the monster high dolls or any other dolls from the 2000s-2010s
xoxo sunnie (@fic-over-cannon)
Sunnie, I am so so glad you asked this because talking about my love for fashion dolls is literally one of my favorite things.
Monster High - So, my love for Monster High started LONG before my love of Bratz. I'm an 05' baby, so by the time I started playing with and caring about dolls in around 2011, Bratz was already past their prime and in their flop era, BUT it was just in time for the monster high renaissance, which truly took the world, and my life, by storm.
My first monster high doll was the Physical Deaducation Ghoulia Yelps doll, and I put her through the WRINGER. She currently has a poorly executed pixie cut, sharpie tattoos, and permanent discoloration around her forehead from the multiple times I tried to dye her hair and failed. She is a testament to my childhood, and I love her so dearly. I even bought an original Physical Deaducation Ghoulia NIB (new in box) a few years ago to keep on display just because she's such a big part of my childhood.
She was really the beginning of a lifelong affair, and even now, at 18, I still collect Monster High dolls and keep up with Mattel creations drops because they use the same face and body molds as G1 (generation one), as opposed to G2 or G3 which I don't like nearly as much. I actually hate G2, but that's universally felt.
The Monster High doll I acquired most recently was the 2024 SDCC (San Diego Comic-Con) exclusive Deadfast Ghoulia Yelps, which is actually an upgraded/reproduction version of the 2011 SDCC Deadfast Ghoulia whose current resale value is upwards of $700 out of box, and $1000 NIB. My dream SDCC doll is the 2012 SDCC Scarah Screams doll. She's one of my favorite Monster High characters, and she has only had five dolls released in the entire fourteen-year history of Monster High, all of which were G1.
That was a lot of unnecessary info-dumping, and I could honestly go on and give you my entire history with Monster High, my fave lines, the dolls I wish I had, and how I dropped the ball not collecting sooner, but I won't because there are other doll lines to talk about eek!
Bratz - I'm gonna start off with bratz even though I know that everybody already knows how much I love them because it hasn't always been this way. I knew of Bratz as a kid, and I played with Bratz as a kid at other people's houses, but I didn't have any of my own because, as I said, it was well past their prime, and I was very much locked in with Monster High. I liked their clothes, and I liked how many accessories came with each doll. Although I never really saw them in the boxes, my friends who had collections of them had so many little bits and pieces to go with each doll, and I thought that was really cool.
The one thing that turned me off of Bratz dolls as a kid (because realistically, as a child, I had no concept of what their prime was and probably would've bought the dolls anyway if it weren't for this fact) was that their feet were weird. If you're not familiar, instead of their shoes coming off, their entire foot did, and that pissed me off so badly as someone who bought fashion dolls to mix and match fashion.
While it didn't entirely stop me from liking the doll line, I never felt tempted to buy them. I only ever owned a Bratz styling head, two Bratz dolls (2011 Stylin' in the City Yasmin and 2015 Selfie Snaps Cloe), and a bunch of their movies that I watched religiously. I loved Bratz more as movie characters than dolls until around 2015/2016, which was when I became interested in buying them, but I didn't actually act on it until years later. Now they're my favorite doll line.
Barbie - I don't know if Barbie counts as a 2000s-2010s doll line because she originated in the 50s, but I'm still going to talk about her because she's an icon, and her 2000s-2010s run was what I grew up with. Barbie, like for many people, was my introduction to fashion dolls, and boy, did she have an impact on me. I would even go as far as to call her my first love. I will always hold space for Barbie in my heart, even though Mattel's constant need for Barbie to be the #1 fashion doll has resulted in so many of my favorite doll lines getting nuked, but that is the fault of corporate greed and NEVER Miss Barbara Millicent Roberts.
I think Barbie's play-line dolls have gotten more and more mediocre over the years. Even as a kid, while they were fun to play with, they paled in comparison to other doll lines' concepts and play sets of that time, which is why I feel like they're so easily duped, and you can find low-end versions at any dollar store. Where Barbie really excels is her collector lines, and if I were to ever collect any Barbie dolls, they would be the ones that you can't just buy off the shelves of Target and Walmart.
When I was very young, maybe four or five, my grandma gifted me a black label, Target exclusive Barbie basics red accessory pack, and the accompanying doll. That's my earliest memory of being introduced to the more sophisticated side of Barbie, the side I'm still so fond of. When I was in elementary school, an administrator who I became close with gave me a magazine about the history of Barbie and her fashions. It was the first time I had seen Barbie dressed up in such extravagant and elegant ways beyond the animated movies, and I became utterly obsessed.
I discarded that magazine at some point in my adolescence, most likely after succumbing to the peer pressure of hanging up my dolls in exchange for social media and boys, but it stuck with me. I have searched far and wide for a copy of it and have come up with nothing. To supplement it, I've acquired numerous books detailing Barbie's history and the countless collections that have been released in her name. They're more detailed than the magazine, but none of them will ever touch the emotional significance attached to it.
Ever After High - Ever After High is another doll line where I was more attached to the accompanying media than the actual dolls. I watched the Netflix original series more times than could be considered healthy, and I owned more of the books than I did the dolls, which wasn't that crazy considering I only had two (dolls, that is). The ones I had were the 2014 Briar Beauty Thronecoming Book playset (which came with Briar Beauty), and the 2015 Way Too Wonderland 17-inch Madeline Hatter doll, which wasn't nearly as iconic as the 17-inch Freak Du Chic Gooliope Jellington doll that Monster High released that same year, which my friend gifted to me for my 10th birthday.
Conceptually, Ever After High was similar to Monster High: sons and daughters of famous and beloved characters, but where Monster High were monsters (obviously), Ever After High were fairy tales, and they even existed in the same universe, which I liked. But in terms of visuals and quality, their fashion wasn't on the same level as Monster High at all, and that's where it fell short for me as someone who really cared about the fashion aspect of fashion dolls. I also thought their heads were way too round, which was something I could've gotten past if they were dressed to the nines, but they weren't, so it added fuel to the fire.
The only time I really put my Ever After High dolls to use was to dress up my Monster High dolls in their clothes, which didn't even fit properly because their body molds were different, or to use them as background characters in stories where my monster high dolls were front and center.
My history with Ever After High dolls isn't nearly as long or meaningful as my history with other doll lines of that time, but as characters, I was able to find joy in them through the show, so that will always mean something to me.
American Girl - American Girl as a brand obviously predates the 2000s-2010s, but the girl of the year tradition, which is one of the hallmarks of the franchise, originated in 2001 and became such an important part of cultivating a love for dolls within people of my generation.
My mom used to get monthly American doll catalogs delivered in the mail, and she would give them to me to look at the different dolls and sets they were coming out with. I would mark it up with pen and marker, circling sets I would never get, calculating costs that, even at that age, I knew were outrageous. It was the beginning of my love for miniature things, and even now, when on trips to Target, I walk through the Journey Girl aisle and feel tempted to buy the tiny foods and knick-knacks.
I got my first and only American girl for Christmas in 2013. It was a Truly Me doll that, ironically, looked nothing like me. We didn't even share a name. I called her Olivia. My mom splurged on it after I begged her for months, and I had never been more excited for anything else in my life. Oh, to be an eight-year-old girl in New York City at one of the American girl flagship stores around Christmas time.
Unfortunately, a few months after I got Olivia, trailers for the first Annabelle movie were put on YouTube as unskippable ads and paired with her scary blinking eyes, an incident I had with a Disney princess doll a few years prior, and R.L. Stine's the haunting hour's "really you" episodes, I was very quickly put off by her, and she ended up sitting in a closet up until last year when I finally decided to give her away to someone who could give her the love she deserved.
If I had the opportunity to buy one now, I'd get a historical doll. Out of all the American girl lines, that was the one that consistently piqued my interest. I loved the outfits, the vintage-style play sets that took you back in time, and the rich, era-accurate stories they gave the girls. My favorites growing up were Kit and Julie.
There are WAY more doll lines of the 2000s and 2010s: my scene, Novistars, Bratz's supernatural counterparts Bratzillaz, and I'd be happy to share my thoughts on those as well, but since this is so long since I went into detail about the impacts of these doll lines on my life I'll cut myself off here!
This question really meant the world to me, Sunnie; thank you again <3

Let's do a style analysis of HBO max's gossip girl, shall we?
Hey upper east siders!! All I have to say is the outfits are *immaculate*
Note: The points I make are solely mine and I am trying to be as straightforward as possible in this post so kindly ignore any inarticulateness this post may conveyš.
The amount of vibrancy that the above photoshoot is radiating is something really refreshing, with people all around me dressing in a usual and similar manner (blue jeans and white tank top duh!), the extravagant yet not extravagant clothing that these wonderful people are donning is something that caught my eye instantly. Yes!! from the moment the first picture came out I looked forward to more behind the scenes pictures of the cast and of course its fashion(actually I looked forward to ONLY the fashion, not because I don't trust the storytelling or the future plot but because the uniforms like these shown below made my inner fashion enthusiast *shake* to her very core.
ā Now clothing or a style statement is very necessary for a film or any cinematic art form because in a lot of cases it is something that makes the show stand in the future or something which shares the iconicity of the art itself. The particular fashion becomes something exclusive and a trendsetter for that show or a movie. Yes! it does happen because the first thing that pops up in my head when somebody talks about clueless is the Cher and Dionne's plaid outfit or when i am reminded of mean girls one of the first things that comes up in my mind is a pink skater skirt or just you know pink outfits in general.
ā When we as an audience are mesmerized by the "attractive" outfits or statement pieces our favorite characters wear onscreen we are influenced to wear similar pieces too. Such a thing happened with Blair Waldorf's iconic headband which made a lot of people wanting to don that too.
00's Vs Present
What I primarily want to do with this post is compare gossip girl's iconic fashion moments with the upcoming gossip girls' fashion and eventually compare 00's fashion to the fashion we have seen emerging in the past year, basically fashion 2020 onwards.
ā There was this "rule" I learned and tried to follow which is no outfit should have more than 3 colors together , I did try to religiously follow that but it seemed a bit difficult so I increased the max number of colors I could have in my outfit to 4 .
ā My biggest pet peeve regarding fashion would be too many mismatched colors in an outfit or simply lots of different colors in an outfit unless its a multicolored outfit. The example is given below.
ļæ½ļæ½ļæ½ Outfit 1 above aesthetically looks good but if the handbag were of a pastel color(pink or even yellow to match the shoes) the whole outfit could have looked way better.
ā¢ Outfit 2 strains my eye at the very first instant I look at it, was that necklace really necessary? I am confused whether it is a athletic outfit or a casual one?
Minimalism
Not very recently we have been obsessed with and have been looking out for this style in fashion. Kuwtk also played a role in promoting this form of styling which is minimalism because they are donning outfits of neutral colors like white, khaki, brown, beige, cream and mostly they happen to be monochromatic. Also with tiktok( I am saying tik tok because I have seen many tik tok videos with most people wearing this staple outfit),the easy and comfy outfit consisting of a white tank/crop/shirt or a T-shirt paired with blue skinny/wide legged Jeans and compulsory white sneakers. I honestly thought the new gossip girl would show include current elements of pop culture fashion elements like minimal jewellery ,claw clips or tie dye outfits but seems like they are trying to set up a fashion statement of their own in their own creative way ! which is very great.
ā But after looking at the behind the scenes of gg reboot and the promotional pictures,it seems they are approaching a more "colorful" approach to the outfits and I hope they are able to set new style standards too as the og gossip girl did. The new gossip girl has fashion inspired by the 2000s and subtly the 90s but yet feels modern? The outfits look formal yet very practical and easy to recreate? The outfits look smart yet not very extravagant(of course barring the fact that all the products are high end but nothing thrifting and matching our outfits cant solve) ? a big YESSS!! to all the questions raised! It's really refreshing to see how well put together and actually comfortable the outfits look . Although the huge bags that blair and serena used to carry are making a statement in this show as well as can be seen from the pictures. In the upcoming show the jewellery is not exaggerated nor the colors mismatched, basically they are beautifully following the notion "less is more". I had an aversion to blue colored clothes and I always gravitated towards black and white while wearing formal but the actors and ofcourse the characters wearing blue formal outfits(to school I know) is making me think differently . š
Make sure to comment down below and hit me up with your expectations regarding the show set to air on July!
