Amos is STARVING to be seen as needed, as good, as her protector…..even if just for that fleeting second.
He soaks in that look, that touch. ❤️🩹
Just dandy.

Really loving the interview on SYFY wire with Dominique Tipper about her work relationship with Steven, Nolden, Naomi’s politics and learning from her mistakes, and how she applies those politics to privilege and identity, and it’s why I’m psyched to see what Naomi’s arc is about when she’s away from the Roci crew.
If you haven’t listened to this interview, definitely do yourselves a favor and do it!

As The Expanse’s fifth season continues on Amazon, viewers are starting to get an up-close look at the most contentious relationship the show has ever seen, as bitter exes Naomi Nagata (Dominque Tipper) and Marco Inaros (Keon Alexander) are forced into an uneasy reunion. If you want to know more, you’re in luck! io9 just so happened to speak with the actors recently.

If Steven Strait is being called a bad actor then what the hell are Dominque Tipper and Alex Kamal being called?!
Wes Chatham is brilliant too. It took me watching a video of him on his insta and then go back to watching Amos Burton to realise how good he really was.
#steven strait#the expanse#wes chatham#if these critics are calling Steven Straid a bad actor then they'are worse to the non-white actors on the show

This Week in Television
Well guys, I know I said I would stick it out, but I just can't do it. I've stopped watching The Young Pope. I got to the third episode and I just couldn't continue it anymore because of how Trumpian the protagonist is. This week has been particularly rough in the United States and I'm someone who is very politically involved. I volunteered for the Clinton campaign and on election night I nearly threw up. If this past week is any indication, it's only going to get worse, much worse. As I'm writing this now, a Muslim ban, for all intents and purposes, has been created severally restricting immigration from several different countries. And with this going on, it's very hard for me to separate the character of Pius from Trump. Both individuals seem to have been long shots, ill-suited and disinterested in their respective roles, and appear to be breaking down tradition at every single turn. Television, for now, is an escape for me, which is why I've begun watching Baskets and The Expanse.
Now for those who don't know, Baskets tells the story of Chip Baskets (Zack Galifianakis) who returns home to Bakersfield California after failing at becoming a clown in Paris. The show was created by Louis C.K., Zack Galifianakis, and Johnathan Krisel and the show has a very Louie vibe to it. It's often absurd but some episodes, like the Easter one, really shine. You get a good understanding for the show. Louis Anderson also plays Chip's mom and is really quite good in the role, earning him an Emmy for this role.
The reason I started watching this show was because it made me both laugh and feel something. The characters are well defined and the scenes often involve absurd situations but this doesn't detract from the real humanity that these characters show. I've laughed and I've been moved by many of the episodes in the first season, so much so that I'm rewatching them with my girlfriend. Have you watched Baskets? Do you like the show? Let me know below!
As I mentioned above, I've also been watching The Expanse. Now I've read a few of the books that this show is based on, I stopped after they appeared to become very repetitive, written by James S. A. Corey and it tells the story of a future where Earth, Mars, and the outer planets are at each other's throats over access to resources. It tells this story quite well, through Detective Miller (Thomas Jane) who lives on a space station investigating the disappearance of a girl, Jim Holden (Steven Strait) who is the captain of the Canterbury who finds himself caught between two warring planets, and his crew mates Amos Burton (Wes Chatham), Naomi Nagata (Dominque Tipper), Alex Kamal (Cas Anvar), and Shed Garvey (Paulo Constanzo) who are along for the ride. The show also displays the tensions on Earth as Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo) who works for the UNN attempts to understand the role that Mars, Earth, and the Outer Planets Alliance plays in this potential war.
This show is a Syfy channel show and usually I'm not a fan of them, but you can seen some time, energy, and money went into making this show. The clothes seem authentic and it doesn't have the cheap feeling to it, that sometimes plagues my watching of other Syfy shows.
Why am I watching it now? Because this cast is hella diverse and it depicts people of all races and genders coming together for a common cause, equality. I'm down for that right now. I'm all in for that. Have you checked out The Expanse? If so what did you think?

I forgot how hard in particular “Hard Vacuum” and “Winnipesaukee” hits in terms of showcasing the women of the Expanse and their character growth:
Clarissa, who we’ve only mostly seen killing people and originally was dedicated to getting her old life and status back, manages to convince Erich to leave the life he had known. She also commits to not abandoning any innocent people, going as far as to directly contradict Erich (granted she still uses her enhancements to kill the crazy power-hungry island rent-a-cops, but they would’ve killed her first). And she manages to be the only one who can pilot them out of this mess.
Drummer, the mostly stoic and stubborn fighter, shows perhaps the widest array of emotions she’s displayed in an episode - she admits insecurity in her ability to continue working under the free Navy, she has a silly moment with her new polycule, she lets out the most visceral scream in mourning for Naomi.
Chrisjen, who we first meet torturing a Belter smuggler largely out of resentment towards the O.P.A for killing her son, surrenders her seat on the provisional U.N. because of how morally reprehensible she finds this military action. Chrisjen, whose biggest critique in season 4 was that she was calculated, unfeeling, inauthentic, and couldn’t showcase her emotions, lets out her grief in losing Arjun and begs her fellow politicians to consider their humanity.
And of course, these episodes would be nothing without Naomi’s brilliance: after risking the hard vacuum of space, she single-handedly manages to circumvent her abusive ex’s plan to destroy her new family, all while being acted out by every bone in Dominque Tipper’s body.

Have you listened to The Churn Expanse podcast at all? It's put out by SyFy wire and both Ty and Dan are on it every week (so far). Last week they had Dominque Tipper on. I haven't listened to this week's yet but Wes is on.
I haven't! I'm literally the worst with keeping up with things. I plan on listening to it on the plane but my nerves will likely prevent me from retaining anything. @bobbiesdraper also releases a podcast! Definitely recommend you check that one out, too!!

I just started reading the books and I. CAN’T. STOP. But I must. I don’t want any spoilers (started watching the show first and the books second and that’s how it’s going to end).
Bottom line, this is one of my top 10 shows of all time. All time. And I know no one really cares, but here are my votes (and yeah, it’s 11 eps. So what.):
1.8 Salvage, 1.9 Critical Mass, 1.10 Leviathan Wakes : Because it just ramps up and up and up. Baby’s first shoot-out. Team Rocinante, now with more Miller! Radiation boys and protomolecule horrors.
2.9 The Weeping Somnambulist : Bobbi’s on Earth. “Wherever I goddamn like!”
3.6 Immolation : My absolute favorite scene from the show 😲🥼 😠🌱 😐💪 😥🌱🎒 😠💪🔫 💀🥼
3.11 Fallen World : Drummer and Ashford. That is all.
3.13 Abaddon’s Gate : That final scene. OMG. So good.
5.3 Mother : Fucking chills.
5.8 Hard Vacuum, 5.9 Winnipesaukee, 5.10 Nemesis Games : Give Dominque Tipper ALL the awards. Damn. Best Hail Mary on TV ever seen. Amos being the best Amos.
We recently hit 1k followers! 🎉 To celebrate that, and as a way of saying thanks, we decided to create a poll were you could vote for your TOP TEN favorite The Expanse episodes. Once the poll is over and the votes are counted, we will be counting down the list by posting gifsets of every episode that made the top 10.
The poll will be up for 1-2 weeks, depending on how voting goes. All you have to do to participate is to CLICK THIS LINK AND VOTE FOR YOUR TOP TEN ABSOLUTE FAVORITE EPISODES and then please, reblog this post to spread the word.
Have fun!
