Some more cut content relating to Lae'zel :D The Intermezzo/end of Act 2 fight against the githyanki was supposed to play out much differently. Instead of fighting some of Orpheus' honour guard before you enter the Astral Prism to finish them off, you would instead meet Voss! Part of this was moved to the encounter you have with him the first long rest you do after clearing the Creche in Act 1.5. Voss would turn up at your camp riding his red dragon, creating a circle of flame surrounding the party. Way to make an entrace, Voss!
He would then explain about Orpheus and try to convince Lae'zel/the party to join his rebellion against Vlaakith. However, he would be then interupted by several githyanki appearing through a portal... lead by a cut character called Fahra, Vlaakith's Hand. She would have been an Inquisitor of Vlaakith. She would have sounded extremly devoted to Vlaakith (the dev notes state that she would have been "frothing" at the bit at Voss, and would become increasingly "deranged" while talking about Vlaakith and the need to kill Orpheus). You would have to side with either Voss or Fahra. No matter who you chose to side with, you would have to fight a dragon (!!!!), either Voss setting his red dragon on you if you sided with Fahra, or Fahra dominating Voss' dragon and setting it on you if Voss was chosen. It's a shame it was cut - you only get to fight two dragons in the entire game (Ansur and the red dragon on top of the Netherbrain). I guess this was cut because going from Ketheric -> a dragon fight back to back might have been a little much. If Fahra was sided with and you killed Voss, she would demand the Astral Prism from you. You could convince her that you needed it to fight the Absolute, and she'd leave you alone. Otherwise, you'd have to fight her to keep the Astral Prism. If Voss was sided with, he'd be chilling in your camp to tell you lore about Orpheus and fighting against Vlaakith's gith. Kinda like Nightsong/Duke Ravenguard in final. Only placeholders here through. :(
It looks like you would have went into the Astral Prism after the Voss/Fahra fight. I'm not sure where the Emperor reveal is in relation to these scenes, or if this was written with EA Daisy in mind.
The dialouge here in the not-addressed-to-Lae'zel side (sorry this is clunky, I can't think of a better way to put it!) seems finished - with only Shadowheart having a placeholder talking about the Mother Superior wanting the Astral Prism. Unfortunatly the Lae'zel origin side is all placeholder. I haven't looked into the voice files for this (if they exist!) but the flags that are set here aren't called anywhere else that I can see.
Anyone who's better than me looking through files that aren't text, feel free to have a wee look! I'm very interested in anything related to this. I'm still learning to navigate unpacked game files :D Fahra isn't mentioned anywhere else in the dialouge files which is a shame.
Thank you once again for reading this wall of text, and I hope you all are having a wonderful day, no matter where you are! :D

3. Up in the Air
I booked a flight to Charlotte for the following week. A part of me wondered if I was taking the right tack with this. I didn't necessarily want to expose myself so early, but Sunda was a legal monstrosity. Any litigation other than the Lotus affair was settled out of court, records sealed. I didn't see much if a way forward without actually seeing the compound itself.
But it was okay. They didn't know who I was. I would just be a simple tech blogger who had come to see his favorite multinational conglomerate.
Tickets were expensive but I felt I needed to get there quickly to really get into this. I needed a lead and Sunda was the only place I could get one.
I could feel an unnatural pull toward the place. I hadn't felt this strongly about the thrill of chasing a story in... Maybe forever. This one could be big. I could feel it. I found it difficult to focus on anything else that week. The name Sunda just kept playing in my head over and over.
Finally, the day arrived and I woke up extra early to get to the airport. Check in went quickly. Security was smooth. And before long, I was boarded and seated. The flight attendants did their safety demonstration and then we were in the air.
However, I got my first surprise when I opened up my phone.
It seemed impossible to avoid them, these days, even for those people who weren't embarking on an investigative quest with them at the center. I clicked the button to join the wifi and smiles widely. Almost giggled. It was very funny to me that I'd be using their own service to forward my plan to bring them down.
I spent some time re-reading my notes. I wanted to compile a list of players in this little story:
Dominic Rey, CEO of Sunda Systems Bethann Johnson, CFO of Sunda Systems Christian Hopkins, COO of Sunda Systems
Then there were the people I'd either interacted with directly or had done research on:
Emily Voss, Administrative Assistant, ORD Reggie (last name unknown), Employment Recruiter James Pepper, Fmr. CEO of Lotus Clinical, Executive CRD John Delphine, Fmr. COO of Lotus Clinical, Executive CRD
I also received a follow up email to my "Helen" email that I'd applied to the Behavioral Psychology position with. I will provide the body of the email here:
Good afternoon Helen! This is Reggie from Sunda Systems. We spoke on the phone about a week ago regarding the Behavioral Psychology position advertised on Karear. It was wonderful to speak with you and I just wanted to follow up to see if you'd given the application any more thought. The position is still available, and we are keenly interested in seeing your resume. Provided that you fit our criteria we are willing to give you a competitive offer. Please Sleep on it and let us know your decision. Connected in Harmony, Reggie
After that I must have drifted off. I remember reading the email and thinking that I really hooked them. I was planning on spending the rest of the flight drafting a fake CV to submit to them so that I could get access to their campus as many ways as possible. But my eyes were heavy. I had gotten up early to catch my flight, after all.
Without closing the laptop, I let my eyes rest for just a moment.
The flight attendant woke me with a light tap. She told me that we were beginning our descent into Charlotte and that I needed to stow my computer.
I'd slept for four hours.
I guess I must have needed it. My mind has been working hard on this project. I deserved a little break. I stretched as much as I could in a small plane seat and packed up my stuff. We touched down and taxied to the gate.
Charlotte International Airport was full to bursting with advertisements for Sunda. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. This was the closest major city to their headquarters in Eden Springs. I guess it also made sense then why planes flying in and out of this hub would have Sunda wifi on them.
By the time I was picking up my rental car, I was positively buzzing with excitement. I was wearing a constant smile. There was a spring in my step. I knew this was going to be a good trip.
The rental agent gave me my keys and I got into the car.
The touch screen in the center came to life with the logo of the company that made it. I recognized it immediate as one of the Sunda subsidiaries. It really was impossible not to get wrapped up in their web somehow.
They had hands so much of our daily lives and we didn't even know it. We just go about our days, completely unaware of the level of control they had over us.
I turned on the radio and began my drive to Eden Springs.

reading gods worst article on tma (Narrating the (Queer) Gothic in the Podcast The Magnus Archives, Maria Juko) and its so bad that its funny. btw this got published in a book (Rethinking Gothic Transgressions of Gender and Sexuality, edited by sarah faber and kerstin-anja münderlein, 2024) and I can only assume the editors didn't listen to tma themselves because good lord what are these takes. come with me as I read this mess
strong start when it claims the entities seek to torture and destroy humanity. patently untrue. we know they have some sentience, but the focus on humanity does a disservice to gerry explicitly saying "you think people are so special its only our fear that counts?". also "destroy". how are you going to get fear if the entirety of humanity is destroyed. we know what the entities wanted (or at least what the web wanted) it is explicitly stated in mag 200. it says so right there so explicitly that I find it impressive if Juko missed it.
calls the beholding the antagonist? if you want to call Any fear the antagonist id go for the web, but even then, antagonist is not the role id ascribe to a lovecraftian entity
"with the podcast’s final season set in a world dominated by the Eye that Jon et al. ultimately overcome to save the world" / "The world comes to depend on [jonmartins] relationship, with the two of them becoming queer heroes." save the world??? heroes?
4. stupidly funny implications. interesting citation for georgie but that's not important right now. the point is the fight against evil and the reading alleging tma says being queer will get you Heroic Powers. Juko's forgetting about the queer characters that get Evil Powers (all of them. all of the powers are evil. that's the point.) did the archivist utilize ace and bi power when he became the lynchpin of the apocalypse and tortured strangers
5. "As a case in point, inclusivity starts at the level of casting: female police officer Basira Hussain is voiced by Frank Voss, who uses they/them pronouns." very true but idk. frank voss and jonny sims are just pals, ill allow Some implications from this but the author is using it to imply more intentional focus on inclusivity then I think jonny was doing
6. "First, the podcast’s main character, the asexual biromantic Jon, is bestowed with supernatural powers, challenging not just heterosexual but all sexual norms of society." BESTOWED? stop using the word bestowed here oh my God. he is not a superhero!! did Juko listen to the entirety of tma without any moral grayness happening here??? also ?? jons bestowed supernatural powers are in no way related to his asexuality & biromanticism??
7. christ. this isnt a bad tma take but it is reminding me why I wanted to quit my literature analysis bachelor
8. did jon utilize ace and bi power when he betrayed martin. did martin utilize gay power when he stabbed jon. jesus christ what do you mean humanity's salvation. the apocalypse isnt fixed at the end by the power of love.
9. i guess? if you felt like it? tma really isn't a queer narrative in my option but I guess?? you could read it like that. if you wanted to. I'm unsure if you should though because these people are deeply unwell
10. "And particularly in the first seasons, Jon and his colleagues often fail to control the evil entities, losing for example colleague Tim at the end of the second season, which leads to a rift between some of the Institute’s members" yeah because truly they were thriving before that. they were the bestest of friends before tim died. they all held hands and danced in circles
11. unsure how much longer i can take this. this isn't the X-Men
12. "[Jon] could be defined as an asexual biromantic who uses his love for Martin as a form of power to save the world." no he couldn't. next
13. "With this in mind, Jon’s exploration of the Archives becomes a metaphor for accepting his (a)sexuality." HUH. NO IT ISNT? jons asexuality isn't relevant narratively At All. go home.
14. for the love of god can anyone hear me. its so dark in here. were the beholding and jonah magnus asexuality allies when they helped jon become an avatar. the sentence after this calls jon the hero of the narrative again btw. patently untrue
15. "Only by accepting his power can Jon save the world." jon didn't save the world.
Juko discusses melanie & georgie but her takes on them are pretty normal and decent in my opinion. if anyone wants a pdf of this horror let me know & ill send it. I'm so annoyed I'm considering writing an email about this. btw it called jonmartin "enemies to lovers" trope and also said their relationship "starts heteronormative and changes to a more equal footing, whilst retaining heteronormative elements". about the gay couple.
to conclude: I don't know which podcast juko listened to about a heroic narrative about queer love that saves the world, but its not the magnus archives. did you know that the eye is an asexuality ally?

Rakha and the others trail behind as Lae'zel makes a beeline for the githyanki officer and the enormous dragon flanking him.
"Rider! My time is short!" she bursts out. "Lead me to--"
"Shhhh-sh-shh..." The kith'rak puts up a hand, clicks his tongue sharply. "Such a familiar tone," he growls curtly. "Were I not merciful, I would slice the skin clean from your meat. Yet you are not bleeding - for I am *nothing* if not merciful. Your name, child!"
Rakha can see how Lae'zel is struck by these words as if by a whip. She goes completely still, ramrod straight, eyes widening. Rakha herself feels a surge of anger on the other woman's behalf, anger the beast in her mind immediately clings onto. How dare he--
Images flash through her - of this officer's head severed from his body and fed into his red dragon's gullet. She sets her jaw, pushes the thoughts back and keeps silent through a force of tremendous will.
Nod to Laezel. Go ahead.
(A/N: We get a specifically [HALF-ORC] option here to insist on speaking on Lae'zel's behalf. I can think of some types of characters who would demand to take the lead here, but neither Hector nor Rakha are the type to claim it. Hector because he was a good dude who trusted his friends and Rakha because she has zero confidence that she knows better about the right path through any given conversation.)
"Lae'zel," Lae'zel says crisply, her eyes staring past the officer's left shoulder.
The man looks her over thoughtfully, then nods. "Lae'zel," he echoes curtly. "Proud. Regal, even. You will call me Jhe'stil Kith'rak."
The githyanki words mean nothing to Rakha, but Lae'zel clearly recognizes them and their implication; her head dips deferentially. All of the dominant confidence which she has brought to their battles thus far seems for a moment lost; she is subordinate to this man, instantly and entirely.
"Voss. Knight Supreme," she says respectfully. "The queen's silver. The queen's sword."
"I am who you say," Voss answers coolly. "A ghaik vessel has fallen from the sky, Lae'zel. Thieves aboard have taken a weapon most precious. It is polyhedric in shape, and inscribed with the sacred runes of our people."
It is perhaps a good thing that he is focused on Lae'zel, because Rakha's eyebrows shoot up. She realizes what he is talking about half a moment before the tadpole connection burns suddenly in her brain.
Narrator: You feel Shadowheart's anxiety. The weapon that Voss seeks is the same one the Absolute's followers are hunting. It's the artifact that she carries. Her mind focuses - the giths' suspicion cannot be aroused. They cannot discover that the weapon they seek is right within their grasp.
Well. This is an interesting development.
The Absolutists' hunt for the artifact made sense enough - a weapon that prevented their god from speaking would need to be destroyed. But the gith, it seems, are searching for a more personal reason - Voss's words suggest that the artifact itself is gith in origin.
This makes some sense, as Rakha's brain chews through the available information. Lae'zel has told her that her people have fought illithids for eons, and that the cleansing they seek at the nearby creche is designed to purge a tadpole infection. It is not surprising, then, that a weapon of gith design might also interfere with this cult of the Absolute, since it operates with the use of modified mind flayer parasites.
Voss is still speaking. "Take word to your creche," he instructs Lae'zel firmly. "You are to join our search."
And Lae'zel, whom Rakha has never seen flinch from anything, hesitates.
"Speak up, child!" Voss commands. "Affirm your mandate."
(A/N: TBH Rakha's instinct here is actually to just hand over the artifact. She thinks that the worms will stop being an issue because obviously the zaith'isk is going to work, and if it's a gith artifact why shouldn't it go back to the gith? Gesture of good faith and all that.
Surprisingly, if you do this, Lae'zel gets SUPER pissed and yells at you (and then yells again after the fight), and I'm honestly not entirely sure why? And then Voss just assumes you were the thief in the first place and tells Baretha to kill you anyway. I straight-up can't figure out how to rationalize Lae'zel being so angry, because she doesn't think Voss is a traitor until later in the conversation, and once you get to the creche she gets mad if you DON'T turn over the artifact to W'wargaz.
However, we have another option which still works for Rakha's thought process so we'll just stick with that rather than turn my brain into a pretzel trying to make the other one work.)
Rakha can feel Lae'zel's sudden nervousness through the tadpole connection, an uncertainty that is very unlike her. What is she waiting for? She has said from the very beginning that their best chance of safety was to reach out to her people, to inform them of their plight and obtain their help. Why does she wait?
Mouth a silent command to Lae'zel: 'Truth.'
Lae'zel straightens sharply. "My mandate, Jhe'stil Kith'rak," she says crisply, "is to locate this creche. I was infected aboard a ghaik ship and need to be purified. Your mandate is to aid me!"
Rakha waits for the kith'rak's expected agreement, for him to direct them to the creche and the salvation that awaits there. But he does not move. His eyes narrow and he peers at Lae'zel with sudden attentive interest - and dismay. "Purified?" he says disdainfully. "Soon your skin will go grey and your blood will run silver. You will shed your skin to become ghaik. Only in death are the infected cleansed."
Lae'zel stiffens. Her eyes widen so far that Rakha can see the whites in them.
"Shit," she hears Wyll mutter under his breath.
"Baretha!" The kith'rak lifts a hand, directing his underling forward. His eyes don't leave Lae'zel; he seems to be memorizing her face, her bearing, everything about her. "See that her skull is split and the tadpole crushed! Then examine her corpse. I will take word to the Undying Queen - our search continues."
He pivots sharply, backpedaling as the other soldiers come forward. As he does, his eyes cross Rakha's line of sight and lock there for a moment, and a chill shoots through her, mixed with a flare of rage from the beast.
He is lying.
Narrator: A current of deception carries Voss's words. Wherever he flies - it is not to Vlaakith.
Her mind whirls. This doesn't make sense. The kith'rak has heard Lae'zel's request and denied the purification that she claims is standard procedure - and wants them dead instead. He says he travels to the queen and goes elsewhere. Why?
"Wait--" she starts to snap, but it is cut off into a cry of pain as Baretha's sword sinks into her arm. And then she has no further time to think of anything as the beast insists on revenge.
(A/N: And then I struggled for like an hour to complete this fight without cheesing it, and then I gave up and cheesed it. XD )
----
The githyanki are perhaps the fiercest enemies Rakha has yet fought in the time she has memory of. They move in lockstep, completely in sync, attacking so rapidly that it is hard to keep track of. But even they are no match for Rakha's mad, wild magic that bit by bit tears their regimented battle apart.
Baretha is the last to fall, shredded apart by a cloud of daggers summoned from Rakha's palms, and Rakha's mind slowly clears as she stands over the mutilated corpse and breathes in the scent of its blood.
Emptiness follows the blood-rage, and a distinct note of fear. Now what?
She looks towards Lae'zel. Her gith companion is vibrating with rage and disbelief; her skin is flushed a dark olive and her eyes are narrowed almost to slits.
"Dammit all!" she roars, lashing out with a sharp kick against the head of one of the fallen officers. "A kith'rak demanded my head! He'd deny me a cure!"
She takes a sharp few steps back and forth in agitated pacing. "Bah," She mutters harshly, taking a grip on herself with brutal discipline and coming to a halt dead still. "This is a distraction. The kith'rak deserves the whole of my scorn. How *dare* he speak my queen's name! How *dare* he dishonor her child!"
Rakha listens silently, waiting for the flow of words to stop before speaking.
Lae'zel is furious - but beneath the anger Rakha thinks she detects a hint of something else. Fear. Puzzlement. This has not gone as Lae'zel expected and she is afraid. There is more going on here than Rakha is able to understand, except that Lae'zel - her companion, her... friend - is more rattled than Rakha has ever seen her.
(A/N: I'm 90% sure this dialog has been updated since I played through this with Hector. There are a few more dialog options all expressing more clearly than I recall before that Lae'zel believes Voss is a traitor to Vlaakith because he denied the SOP of purification. In the particular state of things between Rakha and Lae'zel, however, I find one of them particularly interesting. >:) )
She thinks for a moment, and remembers a moment from the previous night with Wyll on the beach. There had been confusion, awkwardness between them, and he reached out a hand and rested it on her arm and held it there for just a moment. Soothing. Comforting.
Lae'zel needs comforting now.
She tilts her head pensively, then reaches out towards Lae'zel's arm cautiously.
Reach out to comfort her.
"SHKA'KETH!" Lae'zel roars. She bursts backwards away from Rakha, knocking the offered touch aside as if deflecting an enemy weapon. The tension that has sat between them for weeks now suddenly explodes, and Rakha realizes too late that she has seen the gesture as mocking given the abrupt ending of their physical relationship.
"I will remove the parasite," Lae'zel goes on, snarling like a wounded animal. "I will see the kith'rak dead and present his corpse to Vlaaktih herself!" She rips her greatsword from its sheathe and turns the point towards Rakha's throat in a quick, spasmodic movement. "Show me pity again and I will present *your* corpse instead!"
KILL, roars the beast in Rakha's head and for a moment she feels her control slip. Were Lae'zel to make another movement, perhaps the beast would take over after all, and Rakha would find her hands around her friend's throat and everything over between them in one great fountain of blood and pain.
But neither of them moves. The two of them - all four of them - are still as statues amid the corpses around them. Rakha is dimly conscious that Wyll has a hand on his sword hilt and an eldritch blast held in the opposite palm, ready to strike - at who she doesn't know.
Lae'zel's eyes search Rakha's, and in that gaze Rakha sees a depth of pain and fear in the other woman that she had not known existed until this moment. She does not understand it, not entirely - except that somehow it is partially her fault. Partially her, and partially this kith'rak who has turned his back on the foundations of Lae'zel's life.
She says nothing, but nods slowly in acknowledgment. And equally slowly, the point of Lae'zel's sword dips, until it falls back to her side.
"A creche is near. That much is certain," she mutters. "We follow the path forward and seek signs of githyanki settlers. No one - not even the ignoble Jhe'stil Kith'rak, will keep me from my purification."
#bjk plays bg3 durge#rakha the dark urge#well this got very long and unexpectedly dramatic O.O#gonna leave it there for tonight - didn't make too much progress today cos i kept getting pulled away XD#more this week thooooo

Dissonance and Debauchery: The Drama of an Ill-Fated Bard- Chapter 20
New chapter in the Astarion x Tav fic! In which Zynatheri has a bad case of the morbs, and Astarion happily plays the devil on her shoulder. Sometimes you don't need to be cheered up. Sometimes you just need to be sad as indulgently as possible.
...
Zyn took one last look at the night sky, eyes scanning the glittering lights that rippled across the canvas of darkness. A beautiful vista. So vast and mysterious, full of worlds and wonders never beheld by the ignorant creatures of Toril. Somewhere, out among those pinprick lights that chased the moon across the teeming sky, where spelljammers and astral ships moored, githyanki were fucking.
Just up there in the sky somewhere, going at it, all snarling and writhing, insulting each other. They wouldn’t just have sex, though, it would be a fight for dominance. Claws and teeth and maybe some insults. Dick-biting. If you–
Wyll’s abrupt, coughing laugh interrupted her mental tangent, Zyn’s head whipping around as he bent forward. Utterly lost, she stared at him, surprised by the vehemence of his laughter. She usually knew when she’d made a joke.
Zyn was actually very good at them, but, “what did I say?”
“I’ve…never felt your mind before,” Wyll admitted, straightening up with a broad grin still on his face. “That was beautiful…until the last bit there, obviously. Truly, to be in the mind of a bard is a lyrical experience.”
Oh gods.
Feeling violated, but tamping it down because she didn’t know why she’d done that, Zyn stared at Wyll in fear. This was her fault, and she’d done it. She tried to push back the dismay quickly, glancing away, but she knew he’d seen it.
“I'm not upset with you, I just don't like that.”
“Haven’t you figured out how to do it on purpose by now? I apologize. If I’d known it was accidental I wouldn’t have said anything.”
Shit. She’d just been ignoring it, erasing it from the narrative because it made her so profoundly uncomfortable, but she couldn’t any more. They were in each other’s heads.
The sheer violation of it made her skin crawl.
Zyn needed to know how bad it was. “You all mentioned it…happening before, like it was normal. But eventually you stopped talking about it, and…well, it’s only happened to me once, with Lae’zel, and it scared the shit out of me. You really do it all the time?”
“On purpose? Some of us more than others. It can be useful,” Wyll said, red eye peering down at her as he tilted his head. “I’d assumed you had stronger walls ‘round your mind than the rest of us.”
“I do. I don’t like things in my head,” she said, grimacing. “When you play tricks on other people you don’t want them to be played on you!” And she knew people who scried, of course. And read minds. Gods, if only she could afford an anti-scrying amulet– well, maybe this unwanted venture would yield some benefits.
If she didn’t die.
“Well, I hope that I didn’t make you uncomfortable, and it was nice to see you open up a little.”
Zyn stared at him in frank disbelief.
Wyll's eyes crinkled as he turned to face her, leaning down a little. “What?”
“How are you this good in so many ways? Aren’t you exhausted? I would be! I accidentally think…and sorry by the way, for that mental image of Lae’zel and that Voss person having sex.”
Wyll folded his arms. “Why was that your choice, I wonder?”
“I don’t know a lot of githyanki?” she replied, shrugging at his understanding nod. “But seriously, what is wrong with you? Genuinely. It has to be something really bad. Like eating babies.”
“Are you lobbing accusations at Gale’s cooking?"

Okay but, give your opinion even if you don't know much/anything about the old republic era...
CONTEXT:
The Eternal Alliance, also known as the Galactic Alliance, was a military organization formed by the Outlander. Known in its early days as the Alliance Against Zakuul, the Alliance was initially a resistance movement to the formerly dominant Eternal Empire and sought to overthrow the tyrannical Emperor Arcann, and later Empress Vaylin, his sister. Eventually defeating both Arcann and Vaylin, the Alliance would seize the throne after defeating the last forces of the Empire in the Battle of Zakuul. The Alliance was then reorganized by the Outlander, and transformed into the Eternal Alliance. All military assets of the Eternal Empire, including its enormous fleet, were absorbed into the Alliance. With control of the Eternal Fleet, the Alliance was considered the most powerful faction in the galaxy.
Following the Order of Zildrog's campaign against the Alliance and the destruction of the Eternal Fleet at the hands of the superweapon Zildrog, many personnel returned to their original factions. However, the Alliance was not dismantled.
Following the Order of Zildrog conflict, the Eternal Alliance prospered on Odessen until stories of the Quesh riots and Wild Space skirmishes arrived. The signals of a renewed conflict between the Sith Empire and Republic prompted the Eternal Alliance council member and Sith Lady Lana Beniko to ask the Commander to join forces with one of the major factions. The Commander chose to support the Republic and traveled to Nar Shaddaa to meet Jonas Balkar and arrange it.

can we talk about baldur's gate i've been dying to talk about baldur's gate
(spoilers below, mostly about act 3 and the ending)
i'm sure these points have already been discussed MANY times and by people who are better at articulating their words than i am. BUT I GOTTA TALK ABOUT THIS STUPID GAME CONSUMING MY MIND (brain worms (real) (tadpole) (not clickbait))
very rambly
i am a cut content truther
i did not play Early Access but bring daisy back!! i think she is more interesting than what the guardian became
daisy can still be the manifestation of the tadpole and the guardian is there to steer you away from its influence. plus down by the river gets to make sense again
obviously the guardian is the emperor, who does have an interest in convincing you to embrace the tadpole powers in canon HOWEVER. in my silly little fanon, the emperor wants you sane and/or manipulatable enough to work with him to defeat the elder brain, so he would discourage the use of the tadpole
why would he NEED tav to be a mind flayer too? 🤨 like buddy what if i'm a STRONGER rogue illithid than you are and i ruin your plans?
there should've been actual consequences for consuming tadpoles/using the powers (even with the emperor's/orpheus' protection) → as in: you start to lose control and your sense of self because you are accelerating ceremorphosis
not sure how that would work game mechanics-wise, but it gives more weight to the dilemma of choosing to use the tadpole or not than just "raaa i am upholding my morals and values i want to stay 100% non-illithid raaaa" (which i think is a valid reason but feels a bit flimsy)
speaking of orpheus, i think he should've had a more active role earlier on in the story than being reserved for the very very end, whether that be actually being freed from his prison or just a way for tav to interact with him
just some way of getting to know him better instead of just taking voss' and lae'zel's word for his character (i guess taking the gamble on if orpheus is trustworthy IS part of the story and my tav was stupid enough to do that, but i feel like there are many companions/other tavs who would rather make a more informed decision) lol
emperor... what a guy (it/he)
it would've been so funny to play up his straight man/Only Sane Man role, especially for a tav who is easily distracted off doing side-quests
no fun allowed (emperor) vs yes fun allowed (daisy)
anyway he is SO frustrating like he says he's Special and not like other mind flayers because he still has his personality, but at the same time he says "i can't help it i'm a mind flayer"
WELL WHICH IS IT (this may be the point. to cast doubts over trusting his words. i am still allowed to hate it though)
was balduran already an asshole. is that why his personality stayed
ooohhh OOOOOHHH BALDURAN/ANSUR. WHY DO THEY GOTTA BE DIVORCED OLD MEN (affectionate)
dear ansur.... i'll always be your balduran....
I WOULD TREAT ANSUR RIGHT
(← dragonborn tav)
let me ride this undead dragon into battle just to kick the emperor's ass
SPEAKING OF kicking the emperor's ass, i hate how freeing orpheus makes the emperor throw a tantrum about trust and join the netherbrain
mfer i can trust you WHILE ALSO disliking the idea of imprisoning and exploiting a whole ass PERSON
YOU SAW WHAT I DID FOR NIGHTSONG
i've seen people speculate that it's because the emperor believes he has a higher chance of survival by siding with the netherbrain and willingly allows himself to be dominated by it
but i think it is so. stupid 😭 cmon man it can't just be two binary choices for you (get killed by orpheus vs join the netherbrain) i'm sure there's a secret third option we can work out
it would've made more sense to just have a fight in the astral plane right then and there over the netherstones (but he wouldn't initiate an unnecessary battle where he would be outnumbered lmao)
plus that choice/ending should've factored in more of what your relationship with the emperor was (making overall positive/cooperative choices over the course of the game → chance of convincing the emperor to stay on your side or something)
IT'S JUST SO SUDDEN
i had more things to say but i forgot them all. the emperor scrampled my brain and i would let him do it again
also i'm still early in act 1 in my dark urge playthrough, so i do not have thoughts on how durge aspects fit in with everything yet :]
i love this game i like to think about it

(@driftward) Oh let's see. 🍏 Preference for top or bottom/Submissive or dominant for all three sisters, the dynamic there must be ... enlightening. 🍉 What’s your character’s favorite kink? for Thalia, and 🍒 Would your character join a threesome if given a chance? for dealer's choice
petard and hoisted I guess xD
Note: The Voss sisters are attracted to men so male pronouns will be used.
🍏 Thalia: Absolutely submissive. I had stated before (in discord) that this girl is a certified Brat. Loves egging her partner on to get them to lose control, and simultaneously loves giving up control and seeing what her partner wants to do to her.
Narumi: You would think given how bossy she is, that she likes being dominant but nope. She's an even bigger brat than her sister. However, in Narumi's case it's one of those 'requires the right partner that she trusts enough' situations. If that's not the case, then yes, she can slip into being dominant in order to get what she wants.
Ibara: Oh she's definitely dominant. It's always the quiet ones. Relentless scientific curiosity translates into an....interesting bedroom disposition. But don't worry. Just lie still like a good boy and enjoy yourself. She'll take care of you.
🍉(For thalia) Girl likes it rough. Pin her down, bite her, pull her hair, absolutely manhandle her. Consensually. Doesn't matter, She loves it.
🍒 All three girls are very monogamous and won't be persuaded otherwise. So threesomes are out of the question.

🖤About Me🖤
-My name is Vasile (pronounced vah-SEEL), though I am often called Vas (like VAHS or Voss).
-pansexual trans man, he/him pronouns
-body age 25
-part of a DID system, you'll probably see other system members sign off on my posts if they find something I'd like but I'm not there to reblog it. Typically they will tag "Vas vibes" or "Vas core" or "this is you Vas" with their name if I'm not the one reblogging. Common names you'll see are Vivi, Dori, Val or Valentine, and rarely Aridam. I have a part in my subsystem who often reblogs content, he will often sign off as Samael or King Samael.
-Taken but poly, 🪷 , and 🩸are referring to my partners.
-I also reblog a lot of poetry, artwork, religious trauma bullshit, and things related to being traumatized, as I am super fucking traumatized, lmfao. Probably a lot of stuff about heartbreak too because I’m a stupid bitch with feelings or something, lmfao. Need to get rid of those.
-I am kind of an 80/20 switch, I tend to lean much more dominant, but I definitely need a bit of submissive interaction to stay sane😂
-DMs are fine but if the vibes are weird it's an instant block, asks and anons are encouraged, but again, if the vibes are weird I will not interact with you. Don't be weird.
Kinks or NSFW that typically show up here:
When in dom headspace: choking, breath play, exhibitionism, light pet play, religious roleplay/hierophilia, praise, light sadism, edging/orgasm denial, bondage (light), marking, ownership (only during scenes, not in everyday life), cockwarming, fingering, obsession (once again, only during scenes, not everyday life), royalty/regency roleplay, knifeplay.
When in sub headspace: heavy on the humiliation, primal kink, religious roleplay, cnc/dubcon (with rigid and proper boundaries to make everything safe, obviously), knifeplay, bondage (light), choking/breathplay, impact play, light objectification, edging/orgasm denial, exhibitionism (those last three paired with humiliation👌🏻 top tier)
Really not into unsanitary kinks (piss, scat, vomit, etc) so if you post about them regularly I will likely not want to interact with you, but you are free to interact with me. Also cannot do drugging related content unless it is alcohol or THC related. Needles are a no for me, if you post about that stuff that will probably result in a block. Nothing personal, just keeping my mental wellbeing intact😂
A note on the knifeplay: Not into actually drawing blood or hurting people or being hurt, I just think knives are hot and if they are used carefully it can up the ante in an already very hot scene.
Honorifics if you happen to interact with my content:
When in dom headspace: Father, Reverend, Lord, Mister, Sir, or just "V" or a combination of those with my name (Father Vasile, Mister V, Reverend Vasile, Sir Vas, Lord Vasile, etc).
When in sub headspace: lamb, angel, sweetness.
I have other subspace honorifics but those are not something I'd want to be called by strangers online. :) Please respect this boundary.
DNI: No age in bio or pinned, minors, DDlg folks, detrans fetishizers. Anyone else, if I don't like the vibes I will block without warning, I literally do not care, lol.

Hey Leni, let's make theories about Doom and Quake chronology?
I was thinking.. As we know, the demons invaded the UAC in 2145 and the war raged on for some years. Scott Voss from SMC was born in a Martian Colony in the year 2203, that is, relatively shortly after the first demonic invasion. Would Mars have had a peaceful time after all the chaotic events of Doom (to build safe colonies on Mars)? Do you think the other Doom events are part of the same timeline? or that's impossible? (I know there's controversy, but I want to know your opinion).
Curious to know your thoughts on this! Leis. ʕ´•ᴥ•`ʔノ゙
First of all, thank you so much for the question. 😍 I always wanted to be a part of such conversations so this truly means a lot to me. 😍😍😍Second of all, let me establish 2 pathways: what is possible in "natural" circumstances and what i use for my novel and for future followups as a standalone timeline based possibility.
Normal version:
If we take Doom 3 as a closed title along with all the other games/expansions being connected to it, then its fairly obvious to point out, humanity had the time to recover from such losses. Mars City, Phobos labs etc. were lost to the population measures but not in technology. Hidrocon was still there to bring advancement to a whole new level, and im pretty sure they didnt miss out on it even behind the blood soaked history. Over years and maybe after a few high levels of power struggles within the Board they finally got themselves together enough to restart Mars City as an actual human settlement (with a few added advances to make sure nothing comes over again/wont be as deadly as it can be). This also brought the chance as soon as possible to have the city thrive along with other human colonies which in connection meant a new future for our species. Without Mars city there was no continuation and they knew this all too well: sacrificing decades of hard work over fear and paranoia was too much of a luxury to be committed.
In Quake 4's retrospect, im pretty sure Doom 3's events can be considered as canon, even from line to line (if you mind). My philosophy often comes like this in such cases:, "just because people dont talk about it, doesnt mean its not there". From this point, things can be explained even with multiple altitudes: the UAC has gone bankrupt and the secrets have fallen to the grave alongside with it. Or: people over time got to know about the demonic invasion and they live with the truth. Or: the UAC is still there but under a different alias and thanks to this, they are not standing out publicly. Its only a matter of imagination what you can consider as a direct lead to the main story. And this is just one of the examples out of hundreds you can twist in any way you would like for a perfect fitting.
My version:
In my series, things are nothing but grim. After ROE, Earth got attacked not soon after, and the demons started immediately taking over as much as possible (not just the planet, but other colonies and space stations were in great danger). Even if i consider the heroes winning after the years of a brutal, almost annihilating war, humanity still needs an extraordinary amount of time for rebuilding and even more for restarting colonization. The pace is the most important factor in this, however for me its not unimaginable to have a well functioning martian city in the beginning of the 23rd century. Its almost 50 years to spare so its highly unlikely they will lick their wounds for this long. From this on, Quake 4 can be its own very thing, not even mattering if any importance (like the origin of the Strogg or the demonic invasion) has been altered during an alternative timeline.
Fun fact: i consider all Id Tech 4 based games as one big canon where things have different kinds of impacts on each other. Yes, even Prey 2006. 🥰 The differences always start when one game becomes dominant and begins altering other games/storylines. Everything can happen as it is intended but the questions are rather: how many are there (compared to the original) and how much has been changed to allow a proper existence for something new?
Thats the right of the author.
