Saeyoung - The Day He Realized He Wanted to Marry You

There were 3 moments for him. The first 2 were times when he, out of nowhere, just quoted a meme reference and without missing a beat you responded. 

But there was a moment he vividly remembered. 

It was at a party. They had decided to increase the capacity of the guest list, and though you never expressed it, there was a bit of pressure on your part as the planner. He tried his best to help but he was occupied with work and his brother settling in. 

You took it like a champ, but the nerves really set in on the morning of the party. 

He watched you that day clean, moisturize, and exfoliate every inch of your skin. Saeyoung didn’t dare bother you during the ritual. 

Finally, the party came. Normally, Saeyoung would drive you to the venue, but since his brother wouldn’t be attending, he wanted to make sure everything was in order before he left him. And so, you headed to the venue earlier.

When he arrived, the party was already well underway. 

His eyes searched the crowd for your familiar stature with a half-jesting apology already forming on his lips. 

He spotted you by one of the tables speaking to the owner of a small jewelry business. The woman seemed to enjoy your company. She was inviting you to the new store they opened in the mall. It was their first expansion and you looked just as elated as she did.

A younger woman was beside her. Immediately, your demeanor shifted. You were a bit cheerier, a bit less formal. She was talking to you about a dating sim you both played. You laughed at something she said. Something about tragic backstories and how writers knew how to hurt their readers.

And he found himself pausing at the sight… at the normalcy of the scene.

His midnight thoughts crept up in his moment of hesitation.

Perhaps this is what you really needed. Normalcy. Idle chatter about going to the mall. Playing video games to pass the time. It should be this and not…

Not waiting for hours on end to make sure he comes back home in one piece

Not dealing with sleepless nights because you got woken up by the screaming

And certainly not putting up with… him.

With his skillset, it would be a simple thing to disappear. To retreat into the crowd and wipe the entirety of his existence from your life. 

You got pulled into this life because of him and now that you’re with him…you’re even deeper.

No, you don’t deserve this. You deserve a normal life. A peaceful one. 

His mouth suddenly dried and the half-jesting apology dissipated on his tongue. 

He took one step back. And before he knew it, he was walking away from the scene… from you.

His heart hammered in his chest. Taking hold of his breaths. Thoughts ravaged in his mind.

He’s doing it again. He’s pushing you away. 

No, this is the right thing to do.

Wait, just… he has to calm down. This isn’t the answer.

But it is. The only thing he’s going to give you is trouble.

No, that’s not true. You love him. You’ll always love him.

But he doesn’t deserve that. And you… you don’t deserve all the shit he’s got with him.

No, it’s going to be okay. Just calm down.

No. Disappear. He has to leave right now. Before you fall in deeper.

No. Stay. Just stay.

No. Leave—

Arms snaked around his waist. His fight or flight instinct flared up. He fists clenched but before he could do anything else, a voice halted the torrent of his thoughts.

“Caught you!” you yelled with a giggle. 

He turned his head as you rested your chin on his shoulder. “H-h…hey,” he answered in a low voice. You smiled at him. His heart slowed at the sight of your face. “You look beautiful.”

Your eyes narrowed in a jesting glare. “If you think flattering me will get you out of trouble you’ve got another thing coming, mister. Don’t think I didn’t see you running away while I dealt with Mr. Dokgo. That was seriously cruel.”

His hands reached up to touch the arms holding him in place. “Sorry. I didn’t think you needed me.”

“And where did you get that idea? I’ll always need you and because of that,” your glare became sharper and your voice dropped an octave, “I will always find you.”

Something in those words and the jokingly ominous manner you phrased it unlatched something in his chest. And with it, a warmth washed over his stature and he felt his mouth spread to a grin. Then, catching onto your jest, he faked a sob. “There will be no escape for me. This is my life now. Trapped and helpless.”

“I’m glad you understand your unfortunate circumstances. As punishment, you are sentenced to feeding me honey buddha chips while we watch the best or arguably worst bollywood film I can find.”

He chuckled. “Okay.”

“And… and you have to buy me and Saeran our favorite ice cream flavors.”

“Roger that.”

“We each get one pint.”

“Hm. You’re really milking this aren’t you?”

“Oh! And you’re taking me to a cat cafe as soon as you’re available.”

He nodded with equal parts of sincerity and resignation. “Yes, ma’am.”

The two of you paused when you heard a sigh. In front of you, Zen stood with a bored expression. “I mean, I know you guys are in love but really? In front of the guests?”

A blush coated your cheeks. A real one. Not the kind that your makeup gave you. You released him immediately and the urge to distance himself has all but dissipated.

“It’s time for your speech,” Zen informed.

You gave Zen a mock salute before walking off. “Hey, I’ll catch you later, okay?”

He smiled. Softly. Knowingly. This was his life. It's you and him against everything. And he wants it for the rest of time. So he yields to his fate and answered, “I’ll be waiting.”

Have you started the Dokgo Rewind yet?

Yup, I just finished it :> I'll leave my little review of it after the Minji. Warning: it's a bit harsh.

Gonna be honest, it's not my favorite :> I'll try not to be too nitpicky and only focus on the writing, but I will mention that 1. the set design and the clothes make it violently obvious that it's derived from a webtoon and 2. the casting for some of these people is just not great. Kanghoon looks like he knows what the word "mortgage" means and they expect me to believe that he's a high school senior??

Anyways, a lot of the characters' personalities are very flat, even the title character himself. Bohwan is probably the worst case of this, he arguable has the most personality out of the entire cast and it's literally just loud and hungry. There's really not much chemistry between any of the characters, even the main trio we're introduced in episode 1. They're supposedly best friends, but I just don't get that feeling at all. Jaewook and Bohwan also get pushed aside for Jongpil and Taejin later on and it's just... meh. We get two scenes about Hyuk's "struggling family life" but even then, all his parents show is mild disappointment towards him.

Kyusoon's death also felt flat. I liked his scenes with Bohwan and that he did have a lit bit of character development, but there just wasn't enough about him to make his death impactful to the audience.

It feels like there's no consequences to anything that happens. Jongpil gets into this huge fight and gets suspended, and then... nothing. He just keeps on fighting like usual.

The only compelling character in this show is Taejin. The little date scene with Horim was cute, and he's the only character that had an arc in the show, from star athlete of the wrestling team to a common thug.

These are just my opinions, are they a little harsh? Definitely Maybe. If you liked it, more power to you, but this story is just not for me. Weak Hero Class 1 and Revenge of Others are both similar to Dokgo Rewind, but are way better imo, if you haven't watched them I highly recommend you to (Revenge of Others starts to fall into the realm of "what the hell am I watching" in some of the later episodes, but I still think it's decent for what it is).

The blood of the murdered and mutilated assassin kissing the ground, soul was grinding and smashing into heaven. blood hugged the beautiful patternized sword of jaha. So many techniques and souls have been taken from that damned sword. Hongshin pouted as if the cupcake she had just made had been eaten for absolutely nothing.

"Come on, jaha. We have been doing nothing but missions for weeks. I figured that we needed to do some scary fun."

jaha's strong fist untightened at the rivers of the sword, sighing in his nice toned but deep voice. The voice of a madman that slaps the faces of powerful martial artists.

"I don't even know why I try with you...fine. if anything happens to us, then it's your fault."

"Ehm..they don't allow weapons inside the building."

the eyes of a killer widened at those surprisingly wounded words.

"What?"

Thin papers were held in her hands, it was tickets for each heavenly generals and everyone that talks to hongshin like a friend, the blood eyes of jaha squinted at the papers.

"You invited me, dokgo, seongtae, white tiger, geumhae, gun, brother chicken, Sachong, green dragon, and Moyong."

"Don't worry, jaha. We can all fight with and without the support of weapons. for example. You literally crushed the head of the black wolves leader before you changed it. Unforgettable choice of sending a soul to hell."

"Fine. Fine. Did you tell everyone about this?"

"Yep. you're the last one to be informed about this "scary fun." You'll be fine, jaha."

"When are we going?"

"Right now bubs♡"

hongshin's cupcake soaked voice squeaked in such a glee tone. that she won't be bored for the rest of this trip. jaha prepared everyone for this trip to have some "scary fun"

seongtae crunched his face into a disgusted and disturbed type of emotion. He took a small bite of the took chinese chicken from the fresh-smelt kitchen of the creation of food.

"hongshin. this is stupid. why did you get tickets for us to go to an asylum? I don't even know scary shit like that."

shaking his head, gun took a bite of the chicken.

"we've been doing missions assigned from jaha for weeks. so we should do something together. If you have an issue with that."

"No, I dont. We are all sitting in one spot right now. So I'm scared."

brother chicken flapped his chinese fan in a sassy tone as if he's rarity from mlp but manwha version.

"That's all you had to say, seongtae. this is a coordination between the higher ranks of black rabbit. our lower rank subordinates don't deserve this classified and indecent trip, maybe if it's worth our time in the first place."

jaha pointed the small tip of his sword at Brother Chicken, interrupting the high class attire and personality he's radiating through his thick skull.

"Aye. she got us the tickets for us to have a trip as a prize for our- no your hard work that i assigned you to do. so stop it. and let's go."

"y-yes. Master. I'm sorry, hongshin, for calling this wonderful trip of ours...ehm..indecent and basically a waste of time."

the glare of jaha's side profile and side eye electrified his system.

"That doesn't count as a true apology."

"Jaha. mind your b-"

Dokgo's gruffy, deep voice filled the carton of toxicity.

"Shut the hell up, and let's go to this asylum."

the 2 hour ride of this mysterious but rarely haunted asylum had been nothing but arguments of seongtae and jaha, dokgo talking about jaha's battles. and the active noise of the entire ride.

it went quiet when the large, monster high school attired asylum left everyone quiet. seongtae wrote a voiced reaction to this.

"Aww hell no."

jaha held moyong as if he's a human teddy bear, all comfy and soft like a washed blanket with the best detergent.

"I'm protecting my doctor. fuck all of you"

hongshin looked at the tickets if it's the wrong movie ticket and the wrong movie.

"I could have swore it's..the right ticket.. the asylum from when I went there looks like people monitoring and working on it."

Sachong looked at the names of the tickets and then went inside, seeing the inside as an apocalyptic place polluting with spirits.

Geumhae's stomach growling broke the echoing sensation of an inside of an abandoned place.

"Did anyone pack any food?"

moyong's fresh smelt sandwiches took over the raging hunger of geumhae, the sugar filled face of the doctor made jaha trust him even more in any situation.

seongtae seen brown liquid in the brown, dirt pulsated floor, feeling like something is about to go down in this asylum.

"g-guys, maybe we should leave. brown liquid usually signifies blood. so let's..pack up and leave?"

jaha sighed, eating the sandwich.

"This mi-"

a scream scratched the halls of the darken, wore down asylum. jaha instantly turned into his battle machine mode. from killing most people in cloudburst to kill whoever made that scream.

"Seongtae. stay back. The scream was coming from the direction of the sewer right outside the main office here."

the echoing steps of jaha's heels quieted whoever caused that scream to escape their big mouth. the silence was like a black hole getting ready to spaghettify a person in noodles. All quiet.

a shadow appeared in the moving darkness. in which the more that jaha approached, the bloodier and more violent the shadow turned into a human got. if this random, but deadly looking human attacked even the face of a master then it's death coming to them.

"I don't care who you are. but are you the one that caused that shrill scream?"

the gurgling sound of a slit sounding throat was pressured in jaha's defensive system. a kitchen knife bathed in blood as a woman's skin was on the dirty blood. death filling the atmosphere.

"No. I'm not doing this. just die."

moyong's sweat trickled on his light body as worry filled his emotion like a blender.

"I wonder if jaha is ok. I worry about him sometimes."

seongtae ate the last sandwich remaining, everyone's hunger wasn't full of rage to be filled.

"Ah. Don't worry. That son of a bitch can eliminate anybody in a blink of a eye. Oh, and there he is♡"

Stinky iron smelt blood masked his face as his fist was sprinkling that blood.

white tiger slowly started to reach a point of confusion from that ordinary glow of jaha's blood eyes.

"Uhm. What happened?"

"Just..minor inconveniences."

the doors shut like a ghost locked them inside the spooky asylum. The only light holding everyone together was jaha's fire. bright red and dangerous.

Seongtae looked at the goosebumps from his arms.

"Ok. you guys have the strength to bust us out of here, right? SPEAK UP!"

"Seongtae. shut up. I can try to find a window for me to break through. but they are probably gonna be metal bars to keep patients intact in here. It stinks."

brother chicken smelt blood from the main upstairs area, to the theater, and to the libary.

"Jaha. Light your fire up a little higher."

it raised up like a light, seeing blood written messages on the walls, dead bodies everywhere turning rotten, crushed heads, guts, vomit, broken windows, and broken stairs.

brother chicken had the surge of vomit claw from his stomach to his mouth, making his chinese fan shake from the surging impact.

"Uggg..the smell of rotten bodies is so disgusting..I'm about to throw up."

"Eh I've smelt worse."

hongshin looked around, seeing a bunch of holes leading to different places, to the basement, the female ward, the male ward, and the administration block in the upstairs level.

"Maybe we should separate to find a way out?"

seongtae looked offended from how much damage had been done in this entire lobby.

"HONGSHIN. ARE YOU STUPID? IN HORROR MOVIES. SPLITTING UP IS LIKE DEATH!"

Episode 2 of Weak Hero,

Seeing how his classmates stare at him, and seeing them terrified because of him, is heart breaking.

Mania is terrifying. ( I'm not saying that's what he's going through, but I can relate. ) Coming out of a manic episode, especially a violent episode, can be so scary.

His father seems so loving, and he's trying to understand his son, but absent parenting hurts so much. The emotion and mental trauma that comes with it.

The other two bullies, definitely have reason, but seriously they don't know when to stop, pride isn't everything...

Si Eun, so unhinged in mania is terrifying. He's smart and resourceful. TERRIFYING.

Seeing such a dark character become soft towards the sunshine character, makes me so emotional.

Seeing Shin Seungho play this kinda character is 👌👌👌

THE GASP I LET OUT.

This feels very reminiscent of Dokgo Rewind, which I absolutely adore.

Midnight Rain, Sunshine, and Starlight trio. My heart is so full. This little found family is gunna hurt me so badly I can feel it.
