#1 , about me ! (basically warnings and byi info)

first n proi most obvious thing ; i text w/ a little typing quirk !!!! , , , i think its pretty readable but if something is super confusing i can provide 'translations' 4 it im a minor , and while i do not mind suggestive stuff or nudity , str8 up porn blogs better keep out (pls) im mental + disabled in the head . wont get into it here but basically just b mindful of that and patient w/ me thankies i make jokes about (specifically MY) mental struggles (like suicidal ideation (kms/kys jokes) , self-harm jokes , discrimination refrences , ect) , but if theyre seriously offensive in any way that doesnt only affect me , dont b afraid 2 let me know so i can b a bit better in the future ! ok so i was trying to explain to someone why a concept they had for a character is lesbphobic and they were being really difficult and defensive about it before blocking me, rather than just correcting themselves, but it made me want to remind everyone that if you ever see ME doing something like that with a character, dont be afraid to tell me so i can fix it! my intent with characters has always been to represent people, especially lgbt people but im not every orientation under the sun, and i wanna do that in the best most respectful way possible. sometimes people wont have the perspective needed to catch themselves when they misstep with a character, because they dont have the experiences needed to be as aware. thats fine, it happens and i understand it and im not perfect by any means! but whats important is listening to the people your representing, correcting yourself if you misstep, and having respect for the people who call out said missteps.

when i say listen to people i dont mean “expect people to explain it to you”- look for posts and guides and stuff! theyre there to help you! but that doesnt mean you should be afraid to ask for input, ive had plenty of people come to me for advice on lesbian, non-binary, adhd, dyslexic, or ocd characters and im personally always happy to help! i LOVE stuff like that so honestly dont be shy to ask me and other people open to it! its also why ive made posts in the past asking other lgbt people what type of representation they wish they had growing up! theres a difference between asking for input vs expecting others to do the work for you. advice is a great thing to have and highly helpful, but you also need to seek your own resources! your characters should be your work, but that doesnt mean you need to shut down the voices of those who they represent. if your intent is to truly have good representation, youd never do that, otherwise its easy to tell youre just being performative. 

be willing to be corrected. be willing to change the character! nobody is perfect and this doesnt make you a bad person, but dont play the victim or just say “thats not my intent” when youre told that your representation is harmful to the group youre supposedly allied with. just make an effort! it goes a long way! ive changed plenty of aspects of my story as its developed, from character design to personality to world building, either because ive reflected on them and found it would be best if i changed it or because ive listened to the input ive gotten (either directly or from posts ive read), and you know what? i think its made the story even better as a result! so dont be afraid to change stuff! changing your story up can be scary because you dont wanna mess up the image of it in your head, but in reality your story should always be shifting until the day its complete. change is encouraged! change is progress! its ok!! itll all be fine. just listen.

tldr: really this post is two things: a reminder to writers to always accept input from groups they represent without getting defensive. and on a more personal level, me reminding my own followers not to be afraid to give me input and feedback because i value it a lot.
