now what does the average piltover citizen think is happening in arcane. civically speaking. you have 7 council members (a seemingly life-long, non-elected position) and then one of them decides to court pack with her fwb, the in-world equivalent of thomas edison (a few years after the same council almost banished him) and then weeks after his historic appointment, the same guy ousts the immortal founder of your country with absolutely no political pushback from the public (despite the fact that he might have been on this council since its inception?) but ig this evens things out back to 7 seats. your founder disappears and is never seen again btw.

then three of your council members die in a terrorist attack and there is no attempt made to fill their seats. 3 of the remaining council members vote 2-1 to start a war on the city’s most impoverished citizens without the 4th living council member, who morally opposed the invasion. a council members’ mom shows up to incite violence and her daughter is actively trying to get her to leave. despite not even being a resident, this general from another country names a deceased council members’ daughter the New Military Dictator. (unclear why she didn’t just assume her mother’s seat on the council because it’s an inherited position but ig the sheriff was a more important position to fill??) and again no opposition from the general public as she starts gassing citizens. then one council member kills the other with a big hammer but who knows if this is ever reported because then nicola tesla jesus shows up with an army to fight a war on your soil with 1 million robots.

then edison and tesla disappear into a big ball of light, meaning only 2 of your og council members are still alive and at this point it has taken months to get back to a functioning government. imagine being a city employee during all that. who do you even ask to sign your checks. i just know the bathroom of the local newspaper office is swimming in like. steampunk cocaine

I honestly don't think there's a chance in hell that the show planned on the mage being Viktor from the start, but I'm soooooo glad they went that route.

I know fortiche spends forever painstakingly animating 5 second scenes but the details - the micro expressions, the way Viktor's face goes from startled to questioning to bittersweet, drinking in that moment and finally, with sadness and weariness resigning to their inevitable parting, that had me in tears, the FEELING in this scene I'm gonna scream tbh, the way we don't see Jayce's face because we don't have to, we know all he feels right there is intense relief, gratitude and affection, his heart is on his sleeve but we do see Viktor, still waters run deep- he's processing so much more in that moment and its so double for him, he was already balancing on the edge of his humanity right before the explosion and in a desperate attempt to save his life Jayce actually pushes him off the edge completely? ?? INSANE. POETIC. Chef's kiss.

They're the closest we've ever seen them physically but actually they're worlds apart and poor Jayce doesnt even realize, at first, just what is happening while Viktor to me literally just looked like a sad sigh personified.

I'm traumatized. What a scene, show of all time. 💙
